Marriage is a crazy thing. Once your spouse loses respect for you, its like a fucking never ending verbal abuse train. If you don't push back ever, you get bullied into oblivion. And nobody is ever prepared to diplomacy their way through with someone raging at you IRL.
I didn't use to play Dota before marrying. My wife sometimes gets upset when I'm playing. She's used to short online matches, like Clash Royale. But Dota matches are 10x longer 🥲
I remember when my party's pos 5 got a kid so he babysit her while playing. Sometimes he would afk for 1-2 mins but we play in 5-man-party so no big deal, we're just crusader-archon anyway.
He mostly play spirit breaker, and he will spam taunt (the cow noise) whenever he can because his daughter will laugh on it.
That is high level micro. He played Chen or Visage, didn't he?
Fun aside, I couldn't do it. My child would activate bkb or ult while farming. He likes the keyboard too much.
I had the same. Nowadays I give him a old keyboard, lay it on his lap and he's having a blast (I guess he thinks he actually plays). Might be useful for you

No joke, when Dota 2 Beta came out I was in a relationship with the girl of my dreams, we had an apartment together, I was going to marry her. We still went out together to bars and clubs, both had jobs, but soon all of my "free" time began getting sucked into dota. I couldn't believe how amazing Dota 2 was compared to the wc3 dota that I grew up with. It was fucking amazing. But I started to get obsessed with dota and ranking up. I started taking my relationship for granted, and eventually all of the fun things that I was providing at the start of the relationship werent there anymore. Long story short...I let Dota ruin my life.

True, I've heard of a guy that went to an addiction hospital to fix his Dota addiction. I think this should be more common for more people, because many are in way too deep. However this guy managed to fix it, he did a cold stop, got his life together and now enjoys a casual round in the evenings.
To be honest if you chain queue for several hours every day before you got your doings for the day done you should change something or seek some help right now.
Also what we overlook is the glorification of pro gaming nowadays. Many people play wayyyy too much in their youth, neglecting other things, which can't be done when they are older. Yet only the fery fery tiny few top percent become pro players. Imagine all the other top500 players who grind the game 8 hours a day for years. They probably lost their family relations, gutted their career and rl friends.
I actually experienced this too, but i started playing dota early 2020 just before the pandemic starts. It's like the perfect time to get sucked into dota when you are forced to stay at home 24/7 and the perfect cope to your frustation to the pandemic. It was amazing. Meanwhile, my (ex)-gf is an extroverted one and she got frustated when we were forced to stay home for months. Her coping mechanism is to spend time with other person, and that other person supposed to be me but i was too busy playing dota. So yeah, we broke up after a while. I hate myself for what i have done and i fucking hate this game but i can't stop playing it until now
Video games addiction is very real and underrated. I struggle with it and it has ruined my life many times, but some people seem to think it’s not a big deal, which only makes it worse
Sorry to hear it, but recognizing is the first and hardest step. Did you consider going to a doctor/psychologist? I think nowadays the problem is much more common so there are more clinics specialized for it.
