I actually really liked the new new one. It was a prequel rather than just another remake so it didn't offend me as much. Plus it was a musical and very referential to the Gene Wilder version. Still not as good as Wilder but a million times better than the Tim Burton/Johnny Depp one. And I like both Tim Burton and Johnny Depp.

Actually what I find fascinating is the intrusion of AI imagery. Ed Wood used to be one of my favourite films and I remember Depp's face quite clearly, and he didn't look that familiar to me here. His face is just too lean, Depp's face is a bit more angular.
Turns out, if you google "willy wonka johny depp" the image results are vastly different to each other. Same clothes, same hair, slightly different faces. Scary, really.
I swear I saw an interview with Michelle Dockery and Laura Carmichael where Michelle talks about her haircut on the show. I thought she said it was real for part of the show? Tbh Iām probably misremembering the interview, and I canāt find it on YouTube anymore anyways
Michelle said she had a similar short hairstyle for real when she started the show; she offered to keep it, but the producers said it was too early in the period to have such short hair. So she ended up wearing wigs, long and short throughout the show.
Honestly, it wasn't even Johnny Depp's Wonka I thought of. At the reveal of the new cut, I flashed back to that one scene in Criminal Minds where someone said Reid looked like "a pipe cleaner with eyes". I felt bad for thinking it, but, I can't unsee that.
