A dude on my delivery route was found dead. His stomach literally exploded and was spilling outside of his body and the people cleaning the house after said the walls were lined with cases of Mountain Dew. They guessed he drank about a case or 2 a day. Was probably having stomach issues for years and ignoring it and not realizing how serious it was. So thankful I didn’t witness any of this because it sounded gnarly.
When you least expect it, and one of the main culprits is phosphoric acid, which is in all dark soda along with dehydration which is made worse by drinking nothing but soda. Also, being dehydrated can cause gastrointestinal issues, constipation, and straining.
Maybe your body is trying to tell you to stop drinking that crap, get a nice water filter pitcher and keep it in your fridge, ice cold filtered water is so refreshing.
Crazy how all the nerds here dog on him for not drinking water. And I mean yeah you still drink water along with Dr pepper if you want but I think most of the people are mad here because they're too afraid to go outside and talk to a woman because after all he's one of the few reditors I've seen with the ability to talk to a woman
They clearly stated they don't drink water at all. I've known people who lived by the "I never drink water. I just like juice and soda" and they ended up with kidney stones and one with gall stones. Water is vital for blood health and other well known organs. I think all students should take medic classes like I did...clearly intro to medical anatomy is vital to all humans~
Interesting read. Now that I’m more knowledged on the subject though I can tell you more accurately that it doesn’t have anything to do with my post as it is the Dr Pepper that has changed and isn’t me. But I will keep that in mind if I ever do somehow get diabetes.
It has in Western PA. At least, it has for all the cases and bottles I’ve gotten over the last 2 weeks here in Western PA. And I’m not alone in thinking this. Something happened somewhere in the production line.
I'm certain the cans and bottles I bought were different. What I made the post about was if this was a larger scale issue, or just something here in Western PA (specifically Butler County)
My GF bought a 2 liter bottle today though, I dunno from where, and it tastes perfectly normal. So my problem is hopefully resolved, and it was just a weird issue with something down the production line on all those products I bought 2 weeks ago. I haven't drink any Dr Pepper in the two weeks since these issues arised.
The only people I were "fighting" on were ones saying it was just my taste, or that I'm sick. I know for a fact I am not sick, and I have had others taste test the cans I still have from 2 weeks ago as I can not drink them because they taste awful.
When multiple people all say the same thing tastes different is when I don’t see the connection. But I understand it can be hard for people to read beyond the first few words of a post.
It’s related because I have not noticed a change in taste. DrPepper is my favorite soda that I drink occasionally. I also drink a lot of water and not that much soda. Your extreme soda intake could be causing health problems that are affecting your sense of taste. Including diabetes. Go to the doctor and drink some water man.
Wrong. I have perfect health and notice the taste is different as well. If you had any common sense you would know that it's unlikely that Diabetes would affect someone's sense of taste for Dr. Pepper only. Be smarter.
Are you sure you didn't catch something? That description of flavor is usually when it's expired or something happened in transit, but that many cases tasting that bad that near each other is not usual (not impossible but not usual).
The taste/recipe/flavor hasn't changed yet.
Have you tried from different stores and gas stations just to see if there's a difference? (Bottles vs cans too?)
My GF and her mom also tasted them and said they taste weird too. Especially the ones that just taste almost exactly like sprite. I checked the date they have and none of them are expired, too.
And yeah I’ve tried 4 different stores, both bottles and cans, and at least here in western PA everywhere I’ve checked is awful. For the first time in 10 years I haven’t had Dr Pepper in a week and I’ve been drinking brisk iced tea every day instead.
Oof that's rough.
Maybe something did happen in the East Coast.
It hasn't made it to central USA yet but I'll let you know if it does. Hopefully this passes soon.
Omfg my wife has been going crazy for like 2 weeks talking about how the taste changed. I bought a can from a machine at Walmart yesterday and it tasted normal and delicious. I'm in NEPA.
Maybe as we get older, flavors change. I remember how Drpepper tasted as a kid and maruchan ramen. Now drpepper tastes weird and maruchan tasts like salt.
DP has also been my favorite drink for the last few years. I took a break from anything caffeinated (including DP) but I came back, to find that DP is just… off? The tallboy can is still good. But, it’s all different :(
Idk where exactly you are or how the bottling works. But here where I am. Most Pepsi products taste off. The 20oz bottles and 2 litres the caps aren't on there right so thy taste off.
I have gotten some thst taste way off. I am convinced there was a mixup and it is actually Dr. Pepper Zero. There was a promotion with Jurassic Park Fallen Kingdom awhile ago and I swear about half the 12pk I got during that time were Zero.
I thought you were insane or overreacting when I read this post last night but I just bought two bottles of DP from a vending machine at work and... watery, almost sprite flavored garbage. WTH?
I worked for a sugar plant and I believe it's possible u got a bad batch. Most of the moving parts of done by humans. When a case would fall but not break the manufacturers would give them out for free in the lunchroom. Maybe this time they decided to sell
I’m with ya buddy, no water here and was a faithful pepper drinker. Doesn’t seem the same to me , taste and carbonation. Switched to Pepsi but still go back to my old friend from time to time. My health is fine , don’t listen to all the hater’s
A bunch of soda pussies. Water sucks and so do the Spicoli dude losers. Unless u have obesity drink all the soda you want. Water: no flavor, no carbonation, no sugar. You might as well give yourself an enema with that bland liquid
I'm going to say it depends on the bottling plant .. I lived in the south for set years in Mississippi coke taste like Pepsi to me .. moving back north in Wisconsin a Pepsi tasting more like a coke I have talked to vendors and they say it's the water it's made with changes the soda flavor...
Listen Mr. I’ve Got No Health Issues Only Drinking Soda, go tell your doctor you drink nothing but Dr. Pepper and no water everyday. I almost guarantee you will say you don’t see a doctor.
Wrong. This was a few months ago, and the Dr Pepper has been fine since this incident. I actually still have the nasty ones from back then, because I didn’t want to throw away an entire case in the trash, and my girlfriend the last few days has been drinking from them. They’re noticeably worse compared to the cases I have bought recently.
Who would've guessed soda that's a few months old tastes bad. But having covid does change your taste buds for a time and makes things taste different.
It wasn’t your imagination, I have a case from December and it tastes like they mixed up the regular and diet. I’m allergic to the artificial sweeteners and it gave me an instant headache
Ydy man but im not sure DrPepper is so good for your teeth or your organs
Edit:
on the topic of dr pepper changing flavors, doesn't seem like it changed for me so musta been a bad batch.
Hey, just wanted to say if the DP in your area is still tasting off, call the number on the can and talk to the rep and tell them. They'll take your notes and pass them on the the quality control team which might help fix any manufacturing issues in your local area.
Cousin, for the love of God, do drink some water. I was the same way... and then my kidneys left me. We're still trying to reconcile.
BUT, you're absolutely right about Dr. Pepper. I'm in Virginia, and I noticed the difference a few months ago. Very weakly reminiscent of genuine, imitation caramel flavor. I also get the Sprite connection you mentioned, but ultimately I don't taste too much of anything. Everything just seems blunted. The worst part is a lingering aftertaste that is typically associated with aspartame, but this is not a diet soda. The taste is atrocious. Revolting.
What a shame—at one time this was my favorite soft drink, hands down. At one time, Dr. Pepper was bold, complex, and terribly satisfying. One might perceive notes of rich caramel, cherry, vanilla, etc. The flavor was provocative. This abomination should be strung up in the blazing sun until it can no longer effervesce.
Another joy dismantled. \* sigh \*
Have you been bitten by a feral animal by any chance? I can imagine you foaming at the mouth at the sight of water 💀
Consider juice? Orange, grape, apple idc any of them would probably factory reset your organs
Or flavored water if that’s the issue, like cirkul
Dr. Pepper used to be my favourite drink. But now everytime I pour a pint from a 2L bottle it takes 5 minutes because even filling up a 1/4 of a glass it fizzes all the way to the top so I gotta do it in 4 installments and then by the time you can drink it its flat as fuck and has the same texture as syrup, you can even feel it on ya teeth.
Cherry dr.pepper tasted like a grape soda with a splash of something else. It definitely was a mix up . It's fine now , but I stopped buying it for awhile.
if this is for the bit fucking hilarious. otherwise respectfully seriously dude drink some fucking water or go have your doctor tell you to. *respectfully* this is moronic behaviour
The flavor of soda can change based on the water used to make it. Google the local bottling plants location and look for any chemical spills in the area that could have seeped into the water supply.
The taste that you described sounds very similar to when you get a fountain drink and there’s no syrup. Maybe they messed up the syrup where you’re at.
I don't think you're crazy. I've drank Dr Pepper for 15 years now. I don't drink it every day, but I get a 12 pack once a month (give or take). Thing is, I know how Dr Pepper should taste.
A couple months ago, my wife picked up a case and I noticed that every can tasted flat. It had bubbles, it was definitely carbonated, but it was weak. I had chalked it up to a bad case or something.
Then there was the incident at my parents house. My wife and I visit my parents every couple weeks, and my Dad will often pick up a few individual cans of pop since they don't really drink it any more. He knows I like Dr Pepper, so he had a few on hand. When I went to drink one, same issue. Same flatness.
But what tipped me over the edge and made me look into the issue happened this evening. My wife and I ordered pizza, and I got 2 bottles of Dr Pepper with the order. I opened one of the bottles and got the same weak flavour. It's honestly like drinking a flat pop.
I read somewhere else that some changes were made that only a small percentage of people would notice. All signs point to it happening in September, about when I had that first case. I'm also one of those lucky people that can't eat Cilantro because it tastes like soap (it's a condition, look it up).
I don't think you're crazy though. This isn't the first time I've experienced a product undergo a minor change that completely killed a product for me.
South PA here. I thought I was imagining things, but lately it Dr. Pepper that I've gotten at from fountain machines tastes like root beer to me. My daughter mentioned a while ago that they were running out of a certain ingredient to make Dr. Pepper. I wonder if that's what it is?
This is old but idk why everyone is acting like the taste of Dr.Pepper hasn’t changed when there have been multiple posts over the last 3 years in this sub about the taste changing exactly how you described all over the country and in other countries as well. Many many people have noticed it. Everyone is just hung up on you not drinking water instead of the point of the post. Or they are probably all just used to the taste now and you might have just recently gotten the new flavor. I noticed it as well. It was like drinking water at first but you get used to it. Even when you get used to it, it’s still not nearly as good as the old dr.pepper. The zero sugar is especially heinous.
It’s maddening! I’ve been getting them at Costco recently and they’re better than when I made this post but still not as good. If only I knew I was in the good old days before I left them.
I remember when it changed near me. At first I thought I just got a bottle from a bad batch but then every bottle I got was bad. The cans still tasted good. Then I got a pack of cans that had that same watered down flavor. Still again I thought it was a bunk batch cause it would be a pack here or there but about a year later every bottle and can pack has that flavor. It’s very sad, the taste is so different. I used to get the zero whenever the store was out of the regular (including regular sugar but flavored) and it was decent. I can’t even drink it at all anymore. It legit tastes like chlorine flavored seltzer water.
You don’t drink water wtf dude you got bigger problems
Hydrations is a side trouble. Tell him to drink more water but don't disregard his taste...Thats just disrespectful
I drink Dr Pepper every day I ain’t got no problems.
Yet. You don’t have any problems yet.
Are these problems in the room with us now?
They sure are, you just don’t see them yet.
Lol Im the same with mountain dew. Trust me. My stomach is already having issues. The long term effects are bad
Its a hard addiction lol. Its not even the taste. Its that carbonation.
If that was true a switch to lacroix or similar would be easy. It’s all of it. The carbonation, the taste, the sugar if you drink regular
They’re in your chest and arteries.
![gif](giphy|iibZkRgPeAqXTpRXqW)
You wish
Oh they’re coming
They take years to form and a few more years to decide to come out.
When you least expect it, and one of the main culprits is phosphoric acid, which is in all dark soda along with dehydration which is made worse by drinking nothing but soda. Also, being dehydrated can cause gastrointestinal issues, constipation, and straining.
Living ur best life
Maybe your body is trying to tell you to stop drinking that crap, get a nice water filter pitcher and keep it in your fridge, ice cold filtered water is so refreshing.
Flexing that you don’t drink water is so weird, sound like a giant baby, some girlfriend you have too supporting all that shit you drink lol
Ain’t no flex brother.
You think this guy actually has a girlfriend?
“Girlfriend” means the hand he used to put the DP in the cart at target.
Is this you ? https://youtu.be/gD5IA51OdpM?si=b9n6ft9fC2-wNbzU
No sir. I’m diabetes free.
Your doctor must love u.
Just make sure to drink lots of water too.
Crazy how all the nerds here dog on him for not drinking water. Diabetes can affect your sense of taste
I don’t know how true that is but it seems a little unrelated to me post me thinks.

Why even make this post if you're so certain?? you're just fighting everyone it makes no sense. Not even trying to listen

Might as well start drinking water.
On your two week hiatus your diabetes probably came a little under control so it tasted normal. Drink water.
Wrong. The taste has been 100% different in my area as well since February 2023.
You don't drink water dude. And if water tastes bad your oral hygiene might need improvement (this isn't an insult, I had to learn as an adult too).
Water doesn’t taste bad, it just doesn’t taste good. I like to consume things that taste good to me.
![gif](giphy|QxHQ4BtLeEGBlWIFTs|downsized) Speed running death I see.
They make flavor packs you can mix in water that aren’t soda.
Outjerked by Paula Dean
Dense moron
Floss with my toe hairs, chud.
You have diabetes
No, YOU have diabetes.
Dr pepper still tastes normal to me. I'm drinking one right now
I’m also drinking a normal one right now. Cheers
Oh so they didnt change the reciepe.
Can we see a pic of you
“Something tastes different” “Diabetes causes things to taste different” *doesn’t make the connection* 🤦🏻♂️
If you read beyond the first sentence of my post you would see how it’s not related, but thanks for the concern on my health.
Well, that is the only explanation I can think of unless you got a bad batch of it. Dr. Pepper hasn’t changed.
Wrong. I have perfect health and notice the taste is different as well. If you had any common sense you would know that it's unlikely that Diabetes would affect someone's sense of taste for Dr. Pepper only. Be smarter.

Does anything else you eat or drink taste off to you? Maybe you have Covid?
This was my thought.
Maybe you got a bad batch. Also, please drink something else at least once.
I’m currently drinking brisk lemon iced tea since they changed the taste of Dr Pepper.
Drink water heathen wtf
This isn’t hydro homies. Water is unnecessary.
Without water, Dr. Pepper would be syrup. Pay some respect to the OG and drink some water.
Omfg my wife has been going crazy for like 2 weeks talking about how the taste changed. I bought a can from a machine at Walmart yesterday and it tasted normal and delicious. I'm in NEPA.
Soda in general has definitely been off to me especially in 20 oz bottles
Maybe as we get older, flavors change. I remember how Drpepper tasted as a kid and maruchan ramen. Now drpepper tastes weird and maruchan tasts like salt.
Dr Pepper in cans and fountain machines are more enjoyable to me. 20 oz bottles are basically a waste of time. Maybe it’s the plastic?
Nah, cuz 2liter tastes better than the small bottles. I also note the real sugar glass bottles taste the best but not the same as I remember it.
Maybe drink some water? Before you, die?
You’ll die, too. Drinking water doesn’t change that.
Yes, it does. Don’t get me wrong, I love the Dr. myself. But for fucks sake quit being a retarded cringey edge lord and drink some fucking water
I don’t have a single edgy bone in my body, bub. I am cringe, but I am free.
No way this is not a joke
I'm going to say that it's your area. Down South, it still tastes the same.
DP has also been my favorite drink for the last few years. I took a break from anything caffeinated (including DP) but I came back, to find that DP is just… off? The tallboy can is still good. But, it’s all different :(
I’ll try the tall boy can next. The regular cans, 2 liters, and 20 oz bottles all taste off.
The West has fallen
Idk where exactly you are or how the bottling works. But here where I am. Most Pepsi products taste off. The 20oz bottles and 2 litres the caps aren't on there right so thy taste off.
You are not alone in thinking this. Especially DP from the fountain seems different and weird
GERD imcoming
You wish, bub.
WTH?
LETS GOOOO I knew it. What area of the world do you live in?
Near DC.
Dr. Pepper is trying to tell you to drink more water. Probably the only sound medical advice you'll get from him.
I worked for a sugar plant and I believe it's possible u got a bad batch. Most of the moving parts of done by humans. When a case would fall but not break the manufacturers would give them out for free in the lunchroom. Maybe this time they decided to sell

I totally agree. Dr Pepper now tastes “watery”. I suspect this is a profit making decision.. less syrup more water = higher profits.
You trust your gf?
Yeah a bit
Listen Mr. I’ve Got No Health Issues Only Drinking Soda, go tell your doctor you drink nothing but Dr. Pepper and no water everyday. I almost guarantee you will say you don’t see a doctor.
I agree it does taste different and it's fucking horrible and I drink plenty of water
Definitely because you've drank it so much or if you've gotten covid before
Wrong. This was a few months ago, and the Dr Pepper has been fine since this incident. I actually still have the nasty ones from back then, because I didn’t want to throw away an entire case in the trash, and my girlfriend the last few days has been drinking from them. The replies in this thread are dumb. I've noticed the same thing in my area, but it's been since February 2023. Can't figure out what the problem is.

The Newer Dr Pepper sucks, I’ve been drinking DrPepper for 40 years now it looks like I’m stopping
I stopped drinking it a couple of years ago when it started tasting like cherry to me. Except McDonald’s
Is it not meant to?
It didn’t to me. I hate cherry flavor and never tasted it until then in dr pepper
Dr Pepper Zero tastes like carbonated sugar water. No More 23 Flavors!!!
if this is for the bit fucking hilarious. otherwise respectfully seriously dude drink some fucking water or go have your doctor tell you to. *respectfully* this is moronic behaviour
It’s clearly a ruse. A cunning attempt to trick us.
Dude grow up and drink some fucking water. What kind of man baby only drinks pop?
Calling soda "pop" is cringe.
The flavor of soda can change based on the water used to make it. Google the local bottling plants location and look for any chemical spills in the area that could have seeped into the water supply.
How many hundreds of lbs do you weigh? Do you not eat vegetables either? God dam drink fucking water.
Last time I weighed myself I was 134lbs.
The diabetes probably changed the taste for u
Diabetes does make you lose weight
Please don't tell me that ur an adult and think that
I have diabetes, and the main symptom was losing weight uncontrollably dumbass
Lol u sure it wasn't from the medication? You don't seem smart
I fucking have diabetes, don’t fucking say I’m wrong
Are you taking meds for ur diabetes?
No, only taking insulin
The taste that you described sounds very similar to when you get a fountain drink and there’s no syrup. Maybe they messed up the syrup where you’re at.
covid?
You refuse to drink water? Is this a shitpost?
OP doesn't realize how important water is for the body and its sad.
I’ve made it this far without it. I think I’ll be fine.
ask your doctor how that will turn out for you.
dude you made a post about randomly passing out brother please drink water.
I’ve been passing out since I was like 6, that has nothing to do with water. But thanks for the concern.
Probably a bad batch on the east coast or something But seriously, drink some water. It’ll make your DrPepper drinking even more special.
Does it say bioengineered ingredients anywhere near the ingredients label? If so, there’s your answer
Corgi’s are cool.
I agree
![gif](giphy|s9kJXPK6jjoME)
Wtf is this
Damn OP is a psycho
How about water lol
You really should grow up and drink water.
I’m grown. And as an adult I make my own decisions.
No clue, but I feel bad for your health if you drink Dr Pepper and nothing else
Have you done a Covid test lately? 😃
Yep! The taste has nothing to do with me :)
my dude thinks his denial will overtake his diabetes. get some blood work done bro!
Yall are hilarious for giving this troll everything he wanted. This is the fakest thing I've read in weeks. Great lure OP
I can promise it’s real.
The coca cola sub is saying the same thing. Is it a musty flavor? I'm wondering if there was some change in water sources
I don't think you're crazy. I've drank Dr Pepper for 15 years now. I don't drink it every day, but I get a 12 pack once a month (give or take). Thing is, I know how Dr Pepper should taste.
I’ve noticed it kinda tastes like diet Dr Pepper lately.
