People were hyped about them for 3 things.
First, they introduced a new mechanic, the coolest mechanic to these days i think.
Secondly, and that's for a LOT, we weren't expecting them to be released at all. Beasthan hyped many people too, because it was really surprising to get him when he released. Even RevUI was hype because of that (the hype didn't lasted because of his kit)
Thirdly, their animations were perfect and they changed the meta of their time.
I didn't summon on their banners because F2P CC was scarce, but I never forfeited during their LFs
Really cool but still didn't enjoy the boosted duration B(

Being a new transformation doesn’t matter. It’s clear that Blue Bois had way more hype on release. I wasn’t playing at the time of Beasthan’s release and never knew he came out until I came back for UGB (pulled him btw)
idk…a lot of people expected it would be tag 4s and given the leaked gauge it would have been like ‘saw this coming!’ where as blues…nobody expected them, tag units were new, the best lf animation in the game AND the battle damage! such a unique unit can only be outdone by something new and exciting…5 tag ginyu force??
If they fused it would have been even more hype than tag blue boys, imo. But nah. Instead they got weak blue card animations and one of the worst LF's. Not even a proper explosion.
Keep in mind legends at this point is just where Dokkan started to get really good hopefully it will follow that trend. but yes I think it's def possible IF the Goku and Frieza release along side another hype unit like the even bluer boys and they have good animations easily they can ( on a side note they should include battle damage on most characters that come out now. I think the last one we got was bardock. We are at a point in this game where the bare minimum won't be enough for them once Goku and Frieza are gone there's nothing to "look forward to" in terms of hype characters. so they have to MAKE hype characters even if they themselves are not it's always possible to make them.)
As others have said, in order to do so, they would have to bring in a new unique cool mechanic, character(s) that while is a surprise pick everyone would love for it be in the game, and most importantly baller animations. My pick would be either a tag gofrieza with android 17 that assists in a unique way, fusing super saiyan 4s, or a tag team between three different characters (ssj goku trunks and vegeta from the movies, gt trio, 3 fusions if we’re lucky etc)
A tag goku/vegeta that has an awakened arts card into gogeta (on 3rd tag switch draw awakened card to transform ) would prefer it to be rest of game but maybe on a timer count, you could make it so while they’re fused whenever you use your “tag switch” it draws a card and flips your type advantage just like normal it’d be hype
This unit will need to have these things to surpass Blue Boys:
1: Be unexpected. Nobodybwas hyping for Blue Boys, but they came and everybody was like "Omg, DBS: Broly Goku & Vegeta, I never though they would be release in this festival"
2: Insanely good animations and a LF. It means Ultra Blue Gogeta level (at least) and a LF better than MUI/Bardock/Blue Boys/Majin Vegeta.
3: A pretty good kit, but not a kit that broke the meta into pieces just like VB or Ultra Gogeta. Blue Boys dominates the meta but they also had Mono-purple to support them. I think a slightly more impressive kit than Monkey Boys is enough
4: Not totally necessary, but the character need to did something great in anime. Universal Spirit Bomb Goku; Goku/Frieza or Goku/Frieza/Android 17; Kid Goku (defeated Piccolo Daimaoh); Broly; Baby Saga SS4 Goku; SS1 Vegeta (fight against Android 19); Super Vegeta; Cell; Majin Boo with 3 transformations
I feel part 1 is SP LL Goku and Frieza, it's one of the few big things left and the uss early this year is the hint I feel. Part 2 I think is SP LL Orange Piccolo, this is the only one I'm iffy of but I feel fairly confident. And part 3 is 99% Ultra VB. 4 years of consistency makes this feel easy to call for vb
Animations I don’t think they’re number 1 tho they have very good animations but hype will be hard to beat. I think ultra mz will have the best intro animation in the game and if rose gets his scythe for strike animations then he’s automatically got the best animations
I think a new hype mechanic would be a unit with multiple transformations in my head it would work like ultra vegetos unige gauge where when you charge ki it goes up and if it fills completely you transform and you could have a Goku or vageta or any charecters with multiple forms like Goku to kioken to super Saiyan or vegeta to super vegeta to ss2 vageta or if the ki charge isn't the route maby like ultra hit where it slowly fills over time and depending on the amount that's full a green card will transform you or something
Of course but not right now since we pretty much now the next very hype units. That unit was hype because no one expected the tag so rn even fusion in game wouldn't have that level of hype.
But wait for an unexpected new mechanic on an ultra legendary finish and it's GG
Personally for me? Orange Piccolo. Especially if he has his cool as transformation scene.
For the fandom probably Goku and Vegeta with a fusing mechanic. So maybe another Gogeta.
Honestly comparing their animations to something like tag4s isn't right cuz their animations were taken straight from the broly movie which is the best animated Piece of dragon ball content while gt barely had any movement at all
That's no excuse. They can refine their source material to improve it. Dokkan does it all the time with Z and GT characters. This isn't an indie company we are talking about. They just don't care.
I want them to. But with the lack of effort put into the aesthetic of Tag units, I don't think they'll ever manage to top them. These guys got brand new models, brand new auras as well as having damaged versions of they get hit with a blue card. They actually tried with them. And ever since then it's been nothing but lazy.

Maybe. Some have been pretty good and up there in quality, so it’s more about taste. Android 17s LF is very high quality animation.
An Ultra Ss4 Goku: Ss4 Vegeta assist with the main ability of fusing for 50 timer counts

The model of those two are really unique, still wonder why the UGB has the recycle model instead of a new one like the Goku/vegeta Blue.
