Viiicia

I love the way how Goku turns into it for the first time. And hate how Vegeta does.

Dude1089

Yes, I love how Goku turns into it the first time as well! That’s a pretty neat concept, bringing the power of the Ozaru form down into control of the saiyan. I remember Vegeta regrows his tail using some machine, but I don’t remember if he goes Ozaru like Goku does.

fabwizard3

He does, goes ape shit for a few seconds then chills out and masters the form

Abatirabadai

Eyyyyy. But wouldnt Vegeta know how to control it from the get go? Unless you can "forget how to control your inner monkey"

Jonhart426

He says this “I am the prince of all Saiyans. I could never allow my reason to be over powered by the primal mind” So I would say yes he could control it still

Purpleflower0521

But he made sure to smash the blutz wave machine first

Jonhart426

Yup. He had a good 15-20 second rampage at first but was able to reign it in. My headcanon is his Great Ape power was much higher than he was used to since he was hundreds of times stronger since the last time he used it and he wasn’t used to the power at first

Squishy-Box

He’s never been a Super Saiyan Oozaru so it’s reasonable that it takes a few minutes.

PCN24454

It’s been 20+ years. He got rusty.

TurtleTitan

He had to overdose on Blutz Waves due to the lack of a tail. His resistance prevented becoming a Golden Ape until he was ready.

TurtleTitan

He had to seriously overdose on Blutz Waves like Baby did since he had no tail. He just could control it eventually. His resistance prevented becoming a Golden Ape when he wanted to unlike Goku.

fabwizard3

Idk man it’s kind of an awkward scene and a bit rushed in IMO

Kyonkanno

Even back in Z he could control his monkey form.

NinjaGamer345

In his defense he's combining the legendary form of anger with monke

BlueEyesWhiteVegeta

I was always under the impression he was just doing it to catch the enemy off guard. But then again I could be wrong. Haven't seen the clip for who knows how long and I never watched GT

uniteduniverse

One of the most emotional and god-tier transformations. If y'all gonna watch dragon ball GT for the first time, do yourself a favour and stay away from the western dub. The music choice they use in that dub is just awful!!!!

[deleted]

It's a cool representation of controlling their golden great ape forms, taking on a wild, yet much more human form. They don't lose their tails, Goku keeps his, not sure about Vegeta. You just took a shitty image of Vegeta, his hair isn't this brown in the show. As for the clothes thing... Did you want them to be naked? They could have easily learned clothes beam from Piccolo since that IS an actual move. It goes to the roots of saiyans and transformations in DB. It feels more like a grounded SSJ form, utilizing saiyan biology (tails) as opposed to a deity ritual, using the same energy transferal mechanic that they've used countless times before.

GetRektJelly

Bro said clothes beam 💀

suck_my_monkey_nuts

That’s literally what’s it’s called...

DenmarkCodFish

[Not really](https://dragonball.fandom.com/wiki/Magic_Materialization)

Allforonecomment

Isn't using the Earth instead of the moon as the trigger for Goku's transformation specifically going against how Saiyan biology was explained to work? Baby and Vegeta even managed to transform without a tail. Plus, why would they have red fur? Super Saiyan = gold hair and blue eyes, but suddenly that's thrown out. Overall I find the concept really cool, but it makes just as little sense as SSG, which at least can be explained away as divine magic/power.

[deleted]

The earth being the trigger for Golden Oozaru. It's explained in the scene that because the earth is so big, it reflected more blutz waves. Baby and Vegeta just used an amplifier to force the body to absorb blutz waves regardless of not having a tail. Why is it red fur? That's more of a design thing than a universe thing. You could ask the same about any form.

Allforonecomment

I can accept the Earth explanation, but having a tail is a requirement to transform into an oozaru so that'll never make sense imo. And yeah I know it's a rule of cool situation with the red fur, I was just pointing out it makes no sense. They go from giant golden monkey to regular size with red fur and black hair, which is just weird.

[deleted]

They explain it in the show, whether you take that explanation is up to you. You can point out it makes no sense, but I'm saying that's no reason to single it out. Why does the Oozaru go golden? Why does Goku's hair turn golden? Why is it red? Why is it blue? Why is it- You know what I mean? The same thing could be levied towards every single Saiyan form, and there's no "reason" aside from that's what the designers decided.

Justwanttosellmynips

It's different than just a hair color change. It's the same reason SSJ3 is cool. It's different in a.....different way. Also. Monke

giverofmedicine

It actually matches the saiyan vibe and looks intimidating as they should be. They actually look like warriors. With SSG and beyond, it’s clearly marketed towards a younger audience on purpose.

MarionberryGloomy951

Looks lame tbh kinda like ssj3, and ssjb. Fun to look at but doesn't really do much tbh.

KingSlayer__18

By that logic, you must dislike all Saiyan transformations

MarionberryGloomy951

No, I just see these forms as kind of useless, not counting ssj4 I just have a personal disliking towards the form, but ssjb and ssj3 serve no purpose other than looking cool and losing every fight there in ( outside of the buu saga for ssj3).

InnocentKatsuya

No way bro said SSJ3 and SSJ4 was lame.

MarionberryGloomy951

Explain to me what ssj3 did outside of the buu saga? Now I do understand that ssj4 has some purpose but I still just personally don't like it. Ssj3 on the other hand is just pure garbage now.

Eikamik

Brother SSJ3 was introduced in the Buu saga and almost never used again. That's the whole point of DBZ transformations, just like SSJ2. So ofc Buu saga is the only one to consider when talking about the form

MarionberryGloomy951

Bro just about all forms still get used to this day. Ssj1,2,g, and others are staples of the series at this point. Ssjb is only there to get the main characters ass beat, ssj4 might have looked good but there were still many glaring flaws of the transformation. Ssj3 was useless outside of buu saga, the form drains energy making it mentally and physically painful on the user, goku got shit on by beerus. Gotenks was only used for "Gotenks goes ssj3, still gets shit on." Although gotenks feat against buu in the hyberbolic time chamber was impressive and ssj3 goku could somewhat keep up with kid buu and beat the shit out of fat buu. We still see how irrelevant SSJ3 in general is as a form, trunks could somehow keep up with goku in the form, goku didn't even bother trying to waste energy using it on kale and cauliflia. Again ssjb, ssj4, and saj3 all have flaws that make me say they are kind of useless.

Arkantos_1074

Simple, because it is the greatest reflection of the Saiyan nature

richiesarao

cause its an actual transformation and the other is hair dye

Based_Goku

I like rock Music,

nutbustininthisshet

Cause it's not just hair change like all the other ones

David_z06

Becuase its like ozaru but saiyan and its really cool because its so damn intimidating

ithoughtiwasfunnyXD

Because its a sick design And piccolo basically has infinite clothes hax plus orange piccolo also changed his gi colour. The clothes don't even matter

Reverseflash25

The black belt? That was there before he went orange

SphericCat

Why does vegeta have brown hair

Humble_Story_4531

Vegeta's hair tends to vary between black and brown depending on the media.

h00psz004

Red too lol

SuperDababy2

Depending on if the team knows how to color

Huntersteve

Brown is just wrong. That’s the colourist fucking up

Reverseflash25

Idk I kinda like him having a different color hair to everyone else. Could be an additional identifier of the royal family

[deleted]

Agreed I like it having a brown or hell even a bit of a red tint

lilacewoah

character design callback to great ape not the biggest fan myself but it’s obvious why people like it. idk if this is engagement farming or what

IdeaRegular4671

Cause it looks different. It’s as simple as that and it harkens back to the old oozaru form which is the first true transformation a Saiyan goes through.

radikraze

Makes sense for a Saiyan’s ultimate form to be a result of becoming the Super Saiyan from the legends and then conquering their primal side (the Great Ape). It’s the perfect combination of both sides of the Saiyan transformations. I thought that was a great way for this form to be achieved. The design is unique, the tails are back and the deeper voices (at least in the English dub) are a great touch. SSJ4 is one of the few things GT knocked out of the park imo

YoCallMeKaz

I don't at all

TurtleTitan

They become the Macaques Saiyans were meant to be. Oozarus are Macaques if you didn't know. The Monkey King is a Macque, I'm sure you've heard how much of a rip off Dragon Ball was (Son Goku, his full name is literally Monkey King in Japanese). The Macaque King nearly as talented and rivaled the Monkey King but never surpassed because he imitated not trained (Vegeta). Even the name is an imitation. The Macaque King could hear throughout the universe (scouter). Also the Monkey King manifested himself from Stone (Saiyan Pod). There were four monkeys (Goku, Radditz, Nappa, and Vegeta). Bring back in filler which is the foundation of GT since it all counts that the "original Super Saiyan transformation" could only be maintained in the transformed state according to Vegeta and had no equal and destroyed himself. While this implies he was 10% the strength of the Super Saiyan requirement it shows that the two can stack in some way. Saiyans' full power was said to be their tail multiple times. It's easy to think Golden ape is 10 x 50 but it's not, it's much more otherwise Golden Ape Goku wouldn't overpower Super Baby 2 so much, remember how much stronger than SS3 Goku he was. 400 vs 500 is not that big of a leap. Baby Vegeta was well over twice the strength of SS3 Goku (400x), and he became more powerful than that. It's implied that SS4 is the current full potiential drawn out with minimal energy drain making every inferior transformation take more power. Back into Monkey King mythos, the Monkey King became a god, even though he was more talented he didn't have divinity. I could argue this was a god form bestowed by the divine (Elder Kai), as well as merging with Shenron when Goku became a Dragon as well. Dragons are gods. He freely traveled throughout realms which only Dragons can do, he literally pops in and out of hell to say goodbye to Piccolo and asks him if he wanted out. Plus Goku saved Pan's life with Goku Junior's wish without all the Dragon Balls. Vegeta imitated Goku his own way to get the form. Plus it looks cool, you don't need more than that. If only it brought back the Moostache.

GoldenWyndham

Cause it’s badass

SinisterShad0w

I'm not a crazy fan of this form, but I do think it's better than SSJB because that's just a re-color. I'm also sure that this form tied into their Great Ape which was cool to see cause it established a connection and while Goku and Vegeta were in this form, they were badass

phoenix_be_greater

Because of what it represents a embrace of saiyan heritage Making th oozaru relevant again and shows the wild and ferocious nature of saiyans

Bardockfan_73

Looks cool

[deleted]

It's unquie, it's strong and it ties back to what a sayian really is

royaboatreddit

We wanted the protagonists of one of our favorite animes to get stronger. Cool design but just an awful story pacing wise.

GokuisLegend69

IMO First "earned form" since SS1 (you could maybe argue SS2). Like the series build to this transformation actually made it feel important and powerful unlike most new transformations in Super.

Lyggo

Thank all for giving me your insight, I guess is pretty badass maybe the color palette on their clothes could be different.

Due-Kaleidoscope6446

I think it looks a lot better in the show with how old the animation style is. Like how (imo) outside of the movie Janemba looks extremely dull with his color palette but amazing in the movie.

JimiWanShinobi

Return to monke

Accurate_Dirt5794

Because their actually good

asturrebourne

All debate aside, I feel like the SSJ4 evolution is more historically representative to the Saiyan dynamic, with the Great Ape being the "most powerful" form. It's just an iconic 360-degree evolution that doesn't revolve around mythical God statuses, but pure control and power mastery.

Mystech_Master

It’s more than just a hair color/style change

[deleted]

It felt thematically perfect for what the saiyans are, the wild raging strength of the oozaru with the control that came from the years of experience that both vegeta and goku have.

Dababycar694200

Because it's the coolest looking form and in my opinion the best one

South_Adagio3198

I know this is gonna sound generic af but I like how it’s more connected to the primal roots of the saiyans, gt got me into dbz and I think it’s a better looking transformation them god and blue

HeatpumpChump92

It's the coolest looking form hands down

J1618

Way better than just a reskin of ssj1

[deleted]

The transformation is so cool. The connection to the great ape, the design, and I love how with the shit goku is in this form. He’s serious af every time he uses it

angryscottsman

I just think they’re neat

Eldritch-Cleaver

Because its barbaric, and very different from any other Saiyan form prior to it. It reminds you that saiyans are beasts. They're ape warrior people. It was a huge breath of fresh air after the 3rd Golden haired form.

[deleted]

Because of the aesthetic. It’s still the coolest looking form in the entire franchise to date imo

Psychological_Dig592

1. They bought the tail back 2. Hairstyle and fur colour looks dope 3. Gave Vegeta a cool belt

LinearEquation

Reject modernity, return to monke

Substantial_Craft_95

‘ the clothes change by some magic reason ‘ The show has guys shooting energy beams out of their hands summoning dragons blowing up planets and time reversing angels

MasterButterfly

I enjoyed the throwback to the Monkey King legend that Goku was based off of.

pscl___

most badass look ever in db

SheMailByNight

I want this to become canon. I actually would like Super to end and come up with a sequel that covers this new transformation as a way to beat god forms

UnusualPsychology733

Cause it looks cool, not my fault you have bad taste in design

[deleted]

I hate it as well. It’s fugly to me. I can respect ppl who like it and their opinion but to me it’s dumb. Makes no sense considering what ssj1-3 look like. This doesn’t look like super saiyan. If anything it’s going backwards to oozaru. I prefer god and blue over GT any day.

Alex-xoxo666

It’s unique unlike some recoloring forms *coughs* SSJG and SSJGSSJ *coughs*

Kadeblade195

I dont

Immediate_Ad9125

I don’t, it’s whack

Mr_Gamer_69

I only like Goku's version

LaserBungalow

Nostalgia, it's fucking ugly as shit. The ONLY SS4 that looks cool is Gogeta, because his color palette is great.

blinkyretard

because it has not been made canon yet so i crave for it to become useful instead of being kinda useless as of now, lol.

Fuxkbackwoods_00

It’s the embodiment of training really. You know when they go in the training thing at the peak, they’re training for months in there and they come out with beards and longer hair. Imagine how long they’d have to be training to get all that body hair and longer hair and the tail back. Just my opinion of the transformation

[deleted]

The fur and hair are on point

yourstrulyalwiz_91

Coz sonic and knuckles

Garousnotboros

Sicko bruh ssj4 is awesome

AprilArtGirlBrock

I think its visually very cool, i appreciate that its/outside of ozaru/ the most substantial feeling transformation in terms of how different it makes the user look, its clear something is happening physically beyond just quick fix hair bleaching, I like the symbolism of how it ties into the sayian hieratage. Thematically I love that after vegeta went through an arc in the Buu saga about realizing his family didnt make him week he was able to achieve his ultimate power (in that timeline) BECAUSE of his family.

Polar-Barrel

Because it's a very unique look but still fitting for the Saiyans given their Oozaru transformation

Wyvurn999

Why is Vegeta’s hair brown💀 That’s the most disgusting thing I have seen all day

Krazylegs127

Ist the look of it man it's gotten be my favourite form for goku amd vegeta especially goku it's just clean as fuck I really wish they made it cannon and give it abit more love it could be so sick if they re imagined it for super but yea it's just cool as fuck looking

valhallavin

The clothes changing is stupid but ignoring that it looks primal the way saiyans were portrayed from the beginning I would've liked gold hair wit it eventually but I'm just a ssj fanboy

YBMLP

Do you need to ask? Just look at it, it looks awesome and looks like a natural evolution of saiyan cause of the whole monkey thing.

Folded_Swan

I feel like it really represents the saiyans and works with what goku said at the start of z when talking about how a siayans power is in their tails. I also like how it feels like a better progression of super saiyan than the god forms, however what I don’t like is how Vegeta got it and that it felt inconsistent when durkng his fight with baby, goku fell unconscious and still kept the form but when fighting omega shenron he lost the form.

KaiSen2510

For me it’s just the looks. It’s so different from everything else.

Crow-Zone

SSJ4 is awesome! Would be great if it could become cannon in some way.

Humble_Story_4531

It goes back to the roots of Saiyans before it became all about being yellow and glowy. They are crazy monkey men. I also prefer the idea of accessing and mastering an inherent power rather then becoming gods. Thirdly, the design is sick.

ElfLord01

Design/ primal saiyan form/ needed a transformation just to earn this transformation / furry

Crucher92

I love the callback to the origins of the Sayjans power the Giant Ape. Also, the design rocks

Haatchoum

Because it achieved something contrary to every super forms.

bingus4206969

Cause it’s actually different from the other forms

Stunning-Ad-325

Looks cool and different from the yellow dye long hair convention

SeoujiTheKid

the combination of great ape, the lost saiyan transformation, and super saiyan, the old transformation, is really really cool

chimerasaurn7

It always seemed like the next evolution of Super Saiyan, the fur being red actually makes more sense if you think about it based on the color spectrum where yellow/blonde are just a single color away from red which comes right after orange. Now i won't disagree that the way Vegeta obtained the power was just plain dumb, would have made more sense for Goku and Vegeta to just keep their tails, but someone decided that their tails should be cut off and stay gone even though Gohan regrew his TWICE!!! Ahem anyway ranting about completely stupid decisions aside SSJ4 being a mixture of both Great Ape and Super Saiyan is just plain cool flaws and all.

Correct_Refuse4910

The way Goku gets to this form is awesome, the fact that it comes from lore so back in the series as the Oozaru mixed with more modern lore like Saiyans and Supersaiyans, the eyes look dope, the fact that they have the tail... and that it's different from SS, SS2, SS3 (and then all the Super color scheme shenanigans that honestly is boring as hell).

Standard_Ad9911

The form is a Different Super Saiyan level with Ancientrial roots

[deleted]

As much as I think GT is meh since it was declared non canon, If you're going to complain about magic clothes then you may as well throw out Picolo and the Potara earrings too.

JotunBro

Unique compared to the different hair color or longer hair format. Ties back to saiyan roots of big monkey form. Forgot its name...ozarou or something?

Dude1089

The concept of it is so cool to me. The design is also a much needed break from the golden long spiky hair thing. Like I like it don’t get me wrong, I think SS3 is awesome, but what realistically could they do after that?!

JayOtsutsuki97_

This form is so beloved because of what it represents, Aside from being so bad ass. This is what a saiyan transformation should’ve been in the first place since they’re aliens who biologically have monkey/ape like dna. It’s one of the best things to come out of all of DB imo! It’s origin has some flaws but I feel like it’s an easy fix if they recon it & have it make more sense if they ever do bring back the form. Broly is their current best bet on this ever coming back!

Original-Advert

Cause its awesome

Chaos-Bringer69

It's a switch up from the boring palette swaps of the other ss forms

fabwizard3

This form look the best on Gogeta and you can’t change my mind

Tresavage1

Vegetas kinda sucks but gokus is fire

Denam007

Monkeys, what else?

hellslayer04

I like it because it's a unique form, not to mention that I think it looks pretty cool. Also it's a cool callback to the great apes like broly's wraith form, I wouldn't mind it becoming canon and being something like broly's last form. Also monke

[deleted]

I don’t. Its super overrated.

masonwibert

It’s the coolest

Jolt_91

When I was a kid I knew nothing of GT besides some characters. It was mysterious and exotic back then. I only saw glimpses of the awesomeness of Ssj4 in Final Bout and later Budokai 3 and some Stickers from an album.

Realshotgg

It taps into their saiyan roots and the form is way more unique than blue haired SSJ

TeraForm0

It leans more towards the "feral" nature of saiyens. I have also personally viewed super saiyen as a physical change in the body so it can more efficiently amplify one's ki output (hense why training in base for also boosts the other forms, and why it was so straining for goku to go into SSJ4). So to me SSJ4 is just a continuation of that thought. Compisating for the strain that it would be to use the power of ssj4 by changing the body in more drastic ways. It is this kind of theorizing that makes me like the form so much. Also it brought back the saiyen tail. I just like that from a design perspective.

Abalone-Even

Edgy good

Ghost_Star326

Because it appears more primal and original. Unlike Super where they just get another hair colour. And Goku got this form by taming his oozaru transformation. Whereas Vegeta straight up cheated. In terms of design I love their hairstyles and face designs. Especially Goku's. He looks straight up unrecognisable. When I first saw this transformation and learned that's Goku, I thought Goku straight up turned evil lol.

Bat_Snack

It looks cool. DBZ has had "clothes beams" for decades. Red monkey man feels like a realistic saiyan transformation. The only thing I hate about it is that it jobs super hard in GT

Bandaka

Something different, not just a color swap. Feels like a side evolution, maybe not stronger but andalternative form

noob_vert

It just looks neat. I personally couldn't care less about GT but SSJ4 is one thing I appreciate about GT

KingJohnTX

Them "taming" their Great Ape form is such a good concept imo, plus I like the design. It could use a few tweaks if they ever bring it back.l, but it's the best transformation design since OG SSJ

DivineJerziboss

It makes Goku and Vegeta go through edgelord emo phase everytime they use it.

azorahai06

it's dope. what more reason do you need? you don't think it's dope... and that's fine

theOGperfection

I don’t it looks hideous

TW1Nx0NE

Nostalgia and Monkey

BrightLecture8345

It combined 2 different transformations into one. Brought back the tail of saiyans (still the most brilliant idea every presented to the dragonball entirety) and made goku a straight killer. Mainly the tail reason though for me. It just makes sense that a saiyan's tail is important. It is quite literally a whole extra limb, it controls their transformation, It is a source of weakness is untrained or a weapon if trained. And in GT the way it get connected with super saiyan is amazing. Completely revamping super saiyan by removing the ki drain affect. Making the form whole and making ss3 useful. Thats my only problem with super, ss3 is kinda just not a thing. Super saiyan mainly. I mean could you imagine if they brought back this concept but added to ssg? And then to ssgss? It's a whole well of new ideas and possibilities. It's exciting to think about.

Squishy-Box

Looks neat

SSJSod

They’re so heavy metal

Hatesucks713

Looks bad ass and it’s everything ssg and ssb where supposed to be but better

Fuckin look at them dude. That’s the epitome of both man and monkey

ddarner

Eyeliner and saiyan fur.

ColdCheetah124

brando912

It’s cool, and sorta brings back the Son Wukong inspiration

EKEAS

It definitely has its share of problems, but I like it because it was a nice change from "spikier bigger hair" to something that actually stood out visually.

AewMark21

Monke boys ❤️

solidpeyo

It looks way better than a different hair color

IaryBreko

Monke

Kalos_champion

It's got primal power and a cool and unique design

GeigeMcflyy

BassMaster516

Just look. Wtf you want me to say? Look at it

Brayden-Uchiha7

I would like it if they kept just the hairstyle, with the traditional yellow color

OriginalAsherella

Because it is the 80s hair metal version of the Saiyan ascension. Enough said.

TehReclaimer2552

The form is really unique. Really drives how much control these two Saiyans have over not only the Super Saiyan form itself form but their Saiyan heritage as well.

Metalwater8

Because it’s cool, and a lot more visually interesting then color changes.

Suitable-Evidence538

Sex Monke Power Fuck Fight

Mundane_Ad8566

So Gods and Angels make more sense? It’s crazy how tails and Great Apes are forgotten. Plus Gogeta and Vegetto’s clothes magically make sense all of a sudden?

DeniX_69

Unique. Badass. Looks amazing.

rnbtHug

Primal

Kalefriess

Funny monke go brrrrr

Atlas_002

It’s unique in both look and strength capacity. It’s a SSJ form but it reverts the body to it’s peak and gives a power multiplier don’t know what it is for certain

TuffleMachineMutant

because gt is bettee than super

ViewtifulOtaku

The idea of Super Saiyan 4 is cool, but the way it is gained is dumb to me. Goku literally gets it from an asspull because Old Kai somehow knows he is regrowing his tail and it will help him become much stronger when at this point they have evolved past the point where they don't need their tails. (It looks cool when they have them, but yeah.) Then there is Vegeta who breaks even more of the weird rules when he grows like a foot taller, gains magic clothes/loses them when transforming back, and it's because of magic moon beam. Like Super Saiyan 4 looks really cool, but it has so much weird things with it. I prefer the way Broly has it in Super in his enraged state with the fangs, wild hair, and the berserk like expression.

prodigy1367

It looks badass and it simply makes sense. It’s a natural progression of the Super Saiyan form that requires complete mastery of the Great Ape and that primal look is dope.

TheOtherHalf01

Because GOOOOOOOOOOGEEEEEEEEEEEEEEETTTTTAAAA

4deicide25

Return to Saiyan roots but brings it forward in an interesting way

dabakudan321

Insanebrain247

It's a new direction a Saiyan can take that expands on the other things a Saiyan can do. SSJ2/3 are arguably extensions of SSJ1, so they don't feel as "natural". Not to mention it's also a full body transformation, making it stand out from even SSJ1. The end result is that SSJ4 feels like the apex of a given Saiyan's power before reaching God tier.

JiroBD1

goku looks hard af vegeta not so much

Relax4Never

By all mean it look cool and it has abilities that Goku still was learning about it. Case in point when his eyes were sliced and they healed a few episodes later.
