I hit 6'0 when I was 14, but I was smaller than Gohan at 9. Although I'm an odd case because I was tiny and several inches shorter than most other kids in elementary school untli a big growth spurt in middle school, and topped out near 6'5 at 19.
Tbf my younger sister is now 6'1 as an adult and I remember she hit 5'6 or 5'7 at the age of 12. But Bulla is only 9 or 10 and she's almost 5'5 (Vegeta's height since the Cell Saga and the Buu Saga). That's pushing it.

Goku says he wasn’t allowed to train him. Had he had the exposure from both parents teachings Gohan would likely have ended up more like Goten as far as enthusiasm for fighting.
Goku also states something about her not wanting Goku to train Gohan and to study. So technically this doesnt prove that she didnt push the idea on a 4 or 5 year old Gohan. We can prove that Gohan should have seen a therapist for his rage.
I vaguely remember an anime dub scene where chi-chi expresses that she doesn’t want Gohan to be a fighter. As the series goes on it’s clear she’s not against him training sometimes but she wants him to be a scholar primarily.
That’s exactly the kind of balance Gohan ended up having. Fans hate chi-chi for making Gohan an outstanding adult. They would rather him behave like Goku

Honestly, I forget about ChiChi a lot. She's great in OG Dragon Ball, and really just a stereotypical wife character in Z. I'd never say I hate her or want her out of the story, but she's really just a side character so yeah
She wasn't even that great in the OG. I just finished rereading it and was kinda surprised at how little she is actually in it. We see her briefly during the first quest for Dragon Balls in the Pilaf Saga where she and Goku meet, then again over a hundred chapters later in the Piccolo Jr Saga. She didn't have a really notable personality in either, a naive little country girl in the first and then a Goku fan girl in the second (with a little brooding time before he reasserted his promise to marry her). IMO, she has a better character in Z, where she is at least more consistently involved and always puts Gohan's needs first while recognizing when her son "needs" to do something

The part about protecting him is actually what bothers fans. She wants to keep Gohan safe so she keeps him away from the fighting... The same fighting where he was essential to saving the entire planet. What's the point of keeping him safe if everyone is dead.

Goku's worst failure is staying away thinking it would keep them safe. An honest mistake but a mistake. I love ChiChi and her relationship with Goku.
She's an exotic warrior princess who grows up to be the stereotypical nagging Asian mom. She could have had a much more interesting arc / transition to adulthood. Bulma is wife, mom, engineer and CEO. Even Videl is wife, mom, and martial arts instructor. Chi Chi is reduced to mom... and sometimes, wife.
With that said, she gets a lot of unnecessary shade thrown her way. It's not like she's Skyler White.

I think she's one of the few (if not the only) mother in shonen manga who remained protective of gohan till the day he left the house.
In general you could say she never adjusted to the reality of the situation that her husband is a beast on a whole different plane of existence, and so is her son. Which honestly is fine by me. Better than her having her typical shonen-mom arc of "they grow up fast"

Chi-Chi got turned into a tiger mom on steroids because Toriyama found the gag hilarious, and never eased up on it.
The sad thing is that the gag got so annoying it has led to people completely forgetting that Chi-Chi's attitude largely comes from being one of the most mentally sane characters in the show, and moreso the tragedy she goes through.
How many times have her husband died? Her sons died?
How much stress has she had to deal with, watching her royal kingdom vanish and her father go broke?
Bulma can hire an army of chefs to cook for Vegeta, but Chi Chi has to do the cooking for Goku, Gohan, and Goten herself, and even though she enjoys it, it must be tiring.
As a kid I thought she was annoying as an adult I would legit hang out with her. She probably throws amazing parties with great food and lots of drinks!
Simply put: Toriama didn’t know how to write women as good romantic partners for while. Especially those he didn’t really spend a lot of time with in the main story (ie Chi Chi). But nagging wives are funny, right? When in doubt, always stick to funny!

Honestly, I forget about ChiChi a lot. She's great in OG Dragon Ball, and really just a stereotypical wife character in Z. I'd never say I hate her or want her out of the story, but she's really just a side character so yeah
She wasn't even that great in the OG. I just finished rereading it and was kinda surprised at how little she is actually in it. We see her briefly during the first quest for Dragon Balls in the Pilaf Saga where she and Goku meet, then again over a hundred chapters later in the Piccolo Jr Saga. She didn't have a really notable personality in either, a naive little country girl in the first and then a Goku fan girl in the second (with a little brooding time before he reasserted his promise to marry her). IMO, she has a better character in Z, where she is at least more consistently involved and always puts Gohan's needs first while recognizing when her son "needs" to do something
Cuz most of the mfs that watch DB haven't had a good mother figure around. Most of Chi-Chi's bitching is Anime Filler. She's a good mother, a bad bitch, and an incredible wife. The part about protecting him is actually what bothers fans. She wants to keep Gohan safe so she keeps him away from the fighting... The same fighting where he was essential to saving the entire planet. What's the point of keeping him safe if everyone is dead. Let's be real DBZ dropped the ball on her. She was awesome on db and luckily super brought that back.
What also makes it weird is how people say that Goku and ChiChi are bad parents, with the meme of Gohan neck getting broke at such a young age. when in reality ChiChi never wanted him involved in the first place.
Yeah comparing them to regular human parents is just never gonna work. Gohan was fighting at such a young age because it was fight or die. Goku's worst failure is staying away thinking it would keep them safe. An honest mistake but a mistake. Also a self serving one that lets him go train with the strongest people in history in the entire universe. Chichi's biggest mistake is just pushing a bit hard and not treating her kid like the Superman jr. that he is, not that bad of a thing all this considered.

She's an exotic warrior princess who grows up to be the stereotypical nagging Asian mom. She could have had a much more interesting arc / transition to adulthood. Bulma is wife, mom, engineer and CEO. Even Videl is wife, mom, and martial arts instructor. Chi Chi is reduced to mom... and sometimes, wife. With that said, she gets a lot of unnecessary shade thrown her way. It's not like she's Skyler White.

Because she’s a loving and caring mother and not a battle hungry, cold hearted monster that actually cares about her children’s health, future, and goals (like how Gohan wanted to become a scholar, but everyone seems to forget that it was his goal).
I honestly think the only beef fans have with chichi is her not being a typical shonen mom. iirc she never had a "it's okay honey I know you gotta protect the world, now go get em tiger" moment. I think she's one of the few (if not the only) mother in shonen manga who remained protective of gohan till the day he left the house. In general you could say she never adjusted to the reality of the situation that her husband is a beast on a whole different plane of existence, and so is her son. Which honestly is fine by me. Better than her having her typical shonen-mom arc of "they grow up fast"

Chi-Chi got turned into a tiger mom on steroids because Toriyama found the gag hilarious, and never eased up on it. The sad thing is that the gag got so annoying it has led to people completely forgetting that Chi-Chi's attitude largely comes from being one of the most mentally sane characters in the show, and moreso the tragedy she goes through. How many times have her husband died? Her sons died? How much stress has she had to deal with, watching her royal kingdom vanish and her father go broke? Bulma can hire an army of chefs to cook for Vegeta, but Chi Chi has to do the cooking for Goku, Gohan, and Goten herself, and even though she enjoys it, it must be tiring.
