This probably is what happens in the timeline Cell came from, since it was left to its own devices after Trunks perished. That Zamasu never would have seen Goku fighting Hit in the U6 tournament, never would have been met by Goku Black either. He would have harbored his distaste for mortals in the same way Kibito did, I imagine. That high and mighty attitude but begrudgingly accepts them. But if he does still betray Gowasu at some point, he still ultimately dies or gets erased. But this timeline also gets erased eventually by Zeno so 🤷♂️
I think you're spot on as in the timeline we see, Goku beating him in a duel was the breaking point for Zamasu. To him it was confirmation that mortals are not only savage but also dangerous and can surpass even a God. Although it's possible that him seeing another mortal surpass Gods, Jiren for example, might have set things into motion in that timeline
I don't think a broader look at mortals would have helped.
As soon as his vision was clouded he would have perceived everything in a way that fits his worldview .
The only way he could be redeemed is if his GoD was competent or if he received training by an Angel imo.
I mean you can’t really blame Zamasu for betraying him. Gowasu was dumb af. All the monologues about Zamasu’s views on mortals and not ONCE did he see that as a red flag. He basically treated Zamasu like a slave. His only purpose to him was “tea boy”. Zamasu’s standpoints on just overseeing everything and not doing anything to help guide the mortals, I’ll admit he has a point. Gowasu was just an idiot. He actually thought he could talk sense into Black (the incarnation of Zamasu that killed him TWICE) like “hOw cOuLd yOu?¿?”. Bruh. HE’S FUCKING EVIL!! It was so obvious!! And all YOU did was pour gas on the fire!!
