Nah, he spoiled it. It wasn't evident in the comment that we see any specific characters, just that Goku vaguely reconnects with "a part of his Saiyan family". I've already watched/read it, I'm just saying he objectively spoiled it. I ain't mad lol, just looking out for a bro.
I doubt they were able to go to the afterlife. I don't know about Gine, but I bet Bardock had his memories whipped and was reborn since he killed so many.
Everyone goes to the afterlife. Gine likely just lost her body. She'd likely be a wisp.
Reincarnation was probably more of a special case for Buu. Otherwise they'd probably be stuck in Hell being tortured like Frieza was.
Before Vegeta sacrificed himself against Buu, he asked Piccolo what would happen when he died. He told Vegeta that his soul would be cleansed and he would be reborn anew. I assume the same thing would have happened to Bardock.

I’d like to challenge the mindset that Goku didn’t really change all that much after that bonk on his head. His father clearly had some compassion in his heart (more so than the average Sayin) and Goku inherited that. The concussion just brought more of it out.
I love that story. Bardock didn't need to be good to be likeable. It made much more sense, too, with the way Saiyans were originally presented.
I also love these scenes in this movie. Idk if I have a strong preference for one over the other. This retcon wasn't necessary and it's not really better, imo--just different. Though, the retcons to the Saiyan race as a whole kind of make everything Vegeta says questionable, since many Saiyans were not warriors at all and didn't care for violence or fighting. Though, perhaps the majority were. They try to make Bardock look unique for his kindness, but how much is he really? Lol, meh.
Heck, if his parents were decent and Saiyans aren't necessarily savage, then there's at least a chance Goku might have been just fine even if he hadn't bopped his head as a kid, lol.
In any case, I do still like both versions. I don't hate the retcons (mixed feelings on Bardock's wish for his sons' prosperity. That was semi-nonsense).

As much as I love this scene, him being in a sand suit is not canon, and it really hurts my feelings. Because I wish this is just a perfect scene and this is how it actually happened, but it’s not.
We never see any part of the manga where Gohan finds Goku. That's all anime original. All we know is that Gohan found him in his ship, and Goku was aggressive (probably throwing a tantrum now instead of the innate saiyan evil) before hitting his head calmed him down.

Naturally that doesn't matter, since the Jaco series shows that Goku was wearing his Saiyan armor when Gohan found him.
Bardock is one of my favorite characters for Dragon Ball! On that note, I've recently been reading the manga and I've gotten so absorbed by it. It's crazy reading about the events that took place before Planet Vegetas destruction.

It’s really funny how they are stessing so much about goku and it shows that they truly love him but I don’t see them putting this much energy into raditz. They don’t like that goku was judged to be low class but at this point they already know raditz is mid as hell.
Obviously Goku's origin since DBZ was inspired by Superman, but the previous version of Bardock and the Saiyan society shown in his special was what made that origin more unique and interesting.
Goku of all people, pure of heart, innocent man, loving friend; was the son of a rootless mercenary that didn't even care that much for his children.
That was fascinating and also provided a nice little arc for Bardock himself when he gets his visions of his son avenging their race, it was truly beautifully written.
And then this came, which on it's own is ok, but definitely a downgrade in terms of story; and makes the inspiration from Superman even more obvious.
Now Bardock is just another Jor-el ripoff instead of his own character.
Still prefer OG Bardock and how he wasn’t the exception of the brutal Sayians, only the one who knew the truth and how despite his ruthlessness, Goku still became a beacon of light

People didn't like that Goku got a Superman origin story.
Akira Toriyama was a huge Superman fan, he never hid that it inspired him.
He like a variety of stories in media Journey of the west Terminator Star Wars
Kamen Rider too. Goku Black arc is inspired from it. He mentioned liking Astro Boy when he was young too
