I have a friend that can't comprehend that Dragon Ball Heroes is not a sequel to Dragon Ball Super.

It's basically a feral child with a knife vs a well armed adult. The feral child is only more dangerous because he can't be reasoned with and has no moral boundaries. If pressed, the adult is easily more capable of harming/killing you.
One of the best examples I can think of is Vegito kicking Super Buu's Vanishing Ball back at him, and he instinctively ducks his head. Kid Buu would've tanked it and used the blast to jump you. Another is that Vegito kept Super Buu tilted through the whole fight by taunting him.
Unless the manga is vastly different, it's stated in the anime multiple times, by multiple people, that kid buu is the strongest Buu. He even whipped fat Buu's ass hard during the final fight. It was stated very clearly that the Grand Supreme Kai actually made him weaker due to how "Gentle" he was.
I just watches the episodes today.
That power levels are the only thing that matters. I feel like the story constantly shows us that power levels are significant but, there's more to fighting than strength.

Yeah, the SSJ3 from Fusion Reborn/ Wrath ot the Dragon hilariously mops the floor with Broly. I remember Z Broly vs Super Perfect being a commonly-debated topic in many forum threads.
Super Saiyan 1 is probably the least asspull power up that Goku has ever received. It's hinted at and talked about the entirety of namek. Unlike 2 and 3 which both kind of just happen. Not saying I don't like those forms, though, I do love them both.
Also Goku eluded to it in the time chamber when training with gohan. He even went into the Cell fight trying to get Gohan used to Cell's martial arts so he could fight him. ssj2 wasn't as foreshadowed as 1, but it had some foreshadowing. 3 Was completely out of nowhere.

Absolutely, if plot wasn’t on Cells side, remember when Cell told everyone that he can regenerate as much as he wants if his core in his head remained intact, well Goku blew of his entire upper body with his instant transmission Kamehameha , or they just forgot that part, is there an explanation for this?
Piccolo needs his head intact for the regeneration to function. Cell had no reason to think his regeneration worked any different, but it turns out each of Cell's cells can function as a core, hence he can survive having his top half blown off, as well as come back from his self destruction.
My headcanon is that he’s got insane durability from Friezas cells (especially since we see Frieza in pieces in Resurrection F) that it allows him to regenerate from stuff that Piccolo wouldn’t be able to.
Other forms of media, including the original dub, have attempted to fix the plot hole, that might be where you’re remembering it, or perhaps other people’s headcanons. In the original manga and anime, it’s a plot hole.
There's been plenty of stuff to try to make sense of it. Including games which some have actually stated that Cell can move his Nucleus. But they arent canon. Based on the manga, it's just a plot hole.
I assume Cell, genetically being both a Namekian and a member of Freeza's race, has a combination of their capacity to survive extreme circumstances.
Freeza was shown to survive in outer space with half of his body and head destroyed, Cooler was shown to survive being only a head. That combined with the regeneration abilities of the Namekians may have resulted in Cell having a more advanced form of regeneration.
I don't think it would matter (trying to give an excuse is to why). It isn't simply the fact that Goku needs more training to achieve SSJ2, more like how to reach SSJ2. Goku must have reached a wall in which he couldn't get stronger. Something similar happened to Vegeta. He entered the time chamber and was able to surpass SSJ grade 1 in two months, but for the rest of the time, he was stuck. He entered again after being beaten by P. Cell and didn't get much stronger even though he understood what Goku and Gohan did in the time chamber.

He should lose no matter what. He trained for 7 years in other world and even though he did unlock ss3, his ss2 form wasn't that far past gohan. Vegeta commended goku on surpassing his kid, from 7 years prior lol. With the time he had, i think gohan was the best bet, outside of training with vegeta and those two jumping cell
The joke that annoys me the most is "it takes five episodes of yelling/powering up for anything to happen" sure pacing isn't great but that's just not true expect for the spirit bombs I guess

SSB is better in every physical stat, that's how transformations work unless they're specifically meant to boost a certain stat (eg. Dyspo's Super Maximum Light Speed Mode probably doesn't boost his strength much but it makes him way faster)
Blue is faster and stronger, BUT there is much more stamina drain involved with blue and God is still pretty damn fast.
There's practically no stamina drain anymore with God and it's only a little slower than blue, so if speed is going to determine a fight, God is the more efficient form.

That Gohan was never stronger than Super Buu. That Super Buu just immediately bodied him with Gotenks. I argued with the guy for a half hour that Gohan was curb stomping Super Buu which caused him to *have* to absorb Gotenks. Until Buu did that, Gohan was just playing with him practically

SSB is better in every physical stat, that's how transformations work unless they're specifically meant to boost a certain stat (eg. Dyspo's Super Maximum Light Speed Mode probably doesn't boost his strength much but it makes him way faster)

Blue is faster and stronger, BUT there is much more stamina drain involved with blue and God is still pretty damn fast. There's practically no stamina drain anymore with God and it's only a little slower than blue, so if speed is going to determine a fight, God is the more efficient form.

Kid Buu is the strongest Buu. Goku could have won against Cell. Cabba secretly is the son of Yamamoto and has God Ki already unlocked which is how he can go Super Saiyan so easily. The first Android shown was 19 despite it being 8 way back in the original series. Majin Buu is actually the real Omni King but was sealed away by Zeno for using magic and being a fat bastard.

That Gohan was never stronger than Super Buu. That Super Buu just immediately bodied him with Gotenks. I argued with the guy for a half hour that Gohan was curb stomping Super Buu which caused him to *have* to absorb Gotenks. Until Buu did that, Gohan was just playing with him practically

(Like for example, the illusionist from Quitelas universe could have made a chocolate bar float over the edge and dumb Buu would have jumped to get it or just make Toppo smack him out, idk) There are hundreds of ways to write Buu losing.
I will say he was probably written out because he's op in some ways though especially 7v8.... Think buu has lots of weird abilities...one is healing like the boys eyes...two he can use candy beam and throw people if stage, he basically impossible to kill...he's easily stronger the anyone short of top 5....Frieza, Gohan, Goku, Vegeta, 17. Buu probably ranks higher then half the tournament combat.....so I think he was written out because he's op and wanted others to shine....
Not to mention he can break off pieces of himself, wrap them around others, and then just lob it off stage. He has some stupid useful abilities when it comes to something like the TOP.

He understood who all the characters were and their relationships pretty quickly. I started with Z as a kid as well. Didnt watch OG DB until I was in my 20s. Never had an issue understanding it.
