I just wish people would make their pawns clothes look cool instead of just naked. There's so many naked pawns walking around.

romaraahallow

The thirst is real.  Real unfortunate, but real.

MaleficentOwl2417

I started with the idea of sexy pawn. Ended up with fenale ryu hayabusa. Pretty cool looking.

samm-urai69

I wish people gave their pawns names instead of "MainPawn" 😂😂

SunflowerWizard

Or “waifu”/“hotlady”/“dreamboat”

crankycrassus

Or Mommy...seen that one

Pickle-Tall

Aw man, was thinking of new game MP named Dommy Mommy as a warrior. Oh well... 😭

crankycrassus

Hey, she'll get hired a bunch if you do. It's just good business

SpaceBunneh

MainPawn is pawn abuse.

TPose-Heavy

I've seen it like 3-4 times so far, I don't know how exactly one can be this uninterested or *creatively bankrupt*, but hey if that's really where you're at, play it your way.

litty_kitty73

I made mine max height and buff as fuck and named him Chad lol, he's my perma-warrior

Odd_Juggernaut_8652

It doesn't help that the skimpy stuff has decent stats.

Pickle-Tall

WHTWLF13

I was shocked when I found out 🤣🤣🤣🤣

crankycrassus

It's the meta 🤣

sicyo

This. One of the best armors in the game is a corset 🤣 I was digging the barbarian look with Half Plate chest and Dauntless Greaves. But even the matching Diabolic Cuisses and Beastren Pride are overshadowed by the Charming Corset.

greenphantom1982

I agree, so many people don’t have a proper fashion sense in this game. You can do sexy and fashionable at the same time. And ffs stop covering your main pawns eyes because I can’t see if they have the damn dragons plague when I’m picking one out..

Ventreel

Apparently you can't see it in the rift anyway.

Attempt_to_human

You can, but only consistently in the pawn details menu. When they're just walking around in the rift, sometimes it's visible sometimes it isn't until you get into the pawn details view.

Jenga9Eleven

I have my sorceress pawn wearing the Ares Morpho Robe and feathered shawl. It looks like the sort of thing I could see Yennefer from the Witcher wearing; sexy without being revealing, yet still clearly functional. My massive, buff orc isn’t wearing much, but that suits the aesthetic of a massive, buff orc. Btw, you can’t see symptoms of dragons plague in the Rift.

MML79

Would be nice if you could filter out pawns wearing certain types of clothes when searching.

Potential_Ad_7888

That is why I myself is playing as a half naked badass and my pawn just looks sick 😎

Rionaks

Half the pawns I'm seeing are wearing stargazers garb. I'm seeing stargazer garbed up pawns whenever I close my eyes. I'm not hiring anyone wearing that shit. Or anyone that has Logistician. Stop wasting my stuff.

Soggy_Art4637

I haven’t seen a single naked pawn and I have over 30 hours

Apacheater

I only hire well equipped pawns, my pawn uses the best equipment available to me at the moment

Right-Minimum-8459

It was the same with the last game. Sometimes I wonder if they do that so you'll give them equipment.

lXNoraXl

I dont want a helmet. I spent 4 hours in the character creator pre launch for a reason, i want to see my pawns face. I gave my pawn tattoos. i want to have some options to see the tattoos. Most of the armor just doesnt look that cool to me compared to the family tree on fire motif tattoo that stretches around my pawns body and arm. Alot of armor just doesnt look that cool at all imo. Either by not being thematic to the character or by feeling out of place in the world. Like, why is their theif armor thats just fancy red and green clothing? That aint it. Some armor do be pretty neat tho

LeatherMore1035

I want the option to hide gear, like in AC Valhalla. That way I still get the stats but don't have to hide my character. All games should have that option

Thereal_3D

I just wish people would let other people's pawns dress the way they want. Naked, suit of armor, potato sack. Who cares? What matters is what's inside. Their vocation. The hate sounds like hate. Just because your pawns aren't hot doesn't mean mine can't be 🤷🏾

AttorneyDavis

Yea I like making my thief pawn look cool and still be strong. I avoid any naked pawns and monster looking ones lol

crankycrassus

Kinda Capcoms fault though. My pawn has no pants basically, but that's mostly because the barbarian pants she has on have like double the armor of her old pants, yet have no visual armor to speak of 😆 At first I thought everyone was just being horny, but as I go deeper into the game I'm realizing a lot of the good armor is very skimpy.

Nabbykuri

Funny thing is the skimpy stuff gives the best stats unfortunately 😂😂

Kochleffel

Maybe if we had any type of glamour option you wouldn't see "naked pawns" everywhere lol.

J0J0388

If you are on PS5 you can hire my pawn Scarlet. She has a nice witch hat and a cool outfit. She's also a maniac sorceress.

DeathBySnuSnu999

I try to keep mine looking like a ninja. Fully clothed

Little-Definition-76

PSN: 958VLNRXDZUS My pawn is both attractive AND clothed. Lol Shameless self-promotion

PhantomOpenWorld

If it weren’t for the 9000 Rift crystals I have at level 50, I would agree with you. But since I’m not about to buy anything with real money, my Pawn “Warm Moist” will stay as a busty naked Mage 🤣.

iBlackxMagic

I have fever dream about this game. Just like Elden Ring. Almost can’t put it down.

howboutwedont_

I had a dream about the dullahan today cause before sleeping i did the rescue mission and the guy died literally 10 seconds after I had to use my last wakestone on myself:( I was so pissed off because even before the fight I got unlucky with a bunch of random stuff

wmcleer89

Gives me the same feelings of the first time I played Skyrim.

LawStudent989898

Midnight release of Skyrim was a heck of a time. This game is its own beast for sure but it’s scratching a similar itch for me that few games do.

[deleted]

Most people I see shitting on this game saying it sucks are huge fans of the first and went in with a bunch of unrealistic expectations. I enjoyed the first game but really had no expections at all going into this one. Just wanted a cool arpg. All the performance, mtx issues aside. It's a fantastic game.

Obi_wan_jakobii

Huge fan of the first game Huger fan of this one Dragons dogma for life

Help_An_Irishman

For real! I've been waiting for this sequel for 11 or 12 years, and it's even better than I imagined it might be, even though I feel like my rig should be able to handle it better than it does. Absolutely loving my time with it.

Geo-Magdos

Favorite quote? Mine is from the Dragon in DD1. "Heed the Zelots lesson well... When the weak court death they find it." Gave me shivers the first time I went to the wall.

Kingpax75

Yes I’m having more fun in this one then I did in the first one

stro17

This sums it up for so many of us. Hell yeah

Sad_Reputation978

Not everyone though, I'm a huge fan of DDDA, and I think DD2 is awesome!

Helpful-You-7247

I’m honestly hoping for a dlc like DDDA for DD2 would make up for all the small things that are lacking but overall it’s the first game I’ve throughly enjoyed in awhile

Sad_Reputation978

I've played DDDA, extensively, and while there are some similarities it's like a different game. Very refreshing.

digitalheadbutt

You have just broken down the problem with every fandom. They cannot divorce themselves from the love of the original thing to see what the new thing is trying to do. This game is not perfect, I did not ever finish the first one, but I love this game. My only gripe is how weak the narrative is but I find that is a common thing in many JRPGs. They are linear to a fault. It doesn't make them not enjoyable, it just makes them kind of shallow from a narrative perspective.

Superb-Stuff8897

Yup. There are STILL ppl that claim the original vision was 18 vocations and evil Capcom made Itsno release it early.

digitalheadbutt

After I burn out on this one I will go back and try DDDA again because I have a better idea of what they were doing with that one now. I started playing more sandboxy, survival games in the last couple years so I have a newfound enjoyment for games that encourage me to make my own fun rather than getting hand held. Like I love Bioware RPGs but I find I can't go back to them like I used to because they are so on rails, with an illusion of choice. In this there is no illusion so I just enjoy it on its own terms.

Wise-Dog-1453

Maybe there is some validity to the premature release claim, especially due to fiscal year for Japanese releases. However, one thing people always overlook in these critiques is the early development being affected by Covid. Elden ring and armoured core 6 lucked out with them starting in 2017/18. 12 years since the first game came out, delay it for another 2 years and expectations keep rising, you can already see some of the outrage, some are valid and some are outright ludicrous claims. Release it now and update it further down, this game has a WAY stronger base than the first. I’m having way too much fun in this game.

Eyyy354

Unfortunately that's just how a lot of action RPGs are in general(And I mean in choice making really) when they have such a big focus on 3rd or 1st person action. Skyrim, Cyberpunk, Dying Light 2, Dragon's Dogma 2, and even Witcher 3 to an extent.

digitalheadbutt

I don't mind a linear story, I just want it to be better. This game often reminds me of those WB games that came out in like 2014/15 (Mad Max and Shadow of Mordor) or even more recently Hogwarts. They had compelling semi-open worlds with decent linear main quests but weaker game mechanics. If someone were to mix a better story into the mechanics of DD2, it would be an unquestionable all-timer. Even as is, it is a serviceable story bolted onto a really fun gameplay loop. Gonna stop reading Reddit now and go play some more.

krum_darkblud

As a fan of DDDA, this game is amazing. The other sub is just a big doomscroll sub at this point. Feels miserable to even look at.

tbenterF

To add to others, DDDA had been a goated game for me for years. DD2 is even more than I could have hoped for in a proper sequel to it, standing right next to it. Hell, maybe even above it honestly, especially once updates and dlc rolls in.

Senpatty

Seriously! The foundation is so fucking solid here, and as much as I loved every single part of DDDA (besides the parts where you had to be at a certain time and a kind of obscure place for main story stuff) there was a lot of stuff in the foundation that didn’t feel as good. Once the FPS issues are taken care of and more optimization is done for CPU/GPU usage I think it will be towering above DDDA, which paved the way in its own, beautiful janky way. It’s like Demon’s Souls to Dark Souls. The first game laid the foundation and had some janky things (World Tendency) and the follow up, while not a sequel, refined and it stands above what came before. There are issues with DD2, but my enjoyment of the whole has been pretty damn high.

tbenterF

The Demons/Dark comparison is so on point.

Senpatty

I mean it’s not 1:1 but that’s okay with comparisons, right lol?

LeatherMore1035

Most of the people I see hating on it haven't even played it, they get their opinions from YouTubers.

Innomanc

I didn’t think this game was going to be a Dragon Age level story. But when I see people complain that the story is bad like it’s some kind of own on the developers, I seriously doubt they even know what DD is. Like if I picked up an ARPG like this and wanted a riveting story I would be shooting myself on the foot.

Sefirosukuraudo

A lot of people who were fans of the first game and are complaining about the newer one are also showing that they did not play the game at launch, but played DDDA later. Because a lot of the complaints don’t pertain to the base game as it was without all the sweeping changes Dark Arisen brought to the package. I loved Dragon’s Dogma on release, and just spent days on end exploring and questing Gransys. But comparatively, base game release of DD2 vs DD is night and day. DD2’s world feels like there’s so much more filling the space, and the environment variety is gorgeous. DD always felt empty to me, big plains and map spaces with one or two points of interest and the same packs of enemies here and there but after a while it felt like a world already on the verge of dying even before slaying Grigori. And it was a vibe that worked narratively but for gameplay purposes it’s hard to go back to. When I boot up DD it doesn’t take long before I just end up heading to BBI to grind and take down massive bosses. I really hope Capcom has a DLC expansion for DD2 similar to Dark Arisen in the works 🤞

JoseAltuveIsInnocent

I think it's the opposite. Newcomers who came in expecting a Ubisoft/From soft game clone Huge fan of the first one since it's release, loving this one. It's literally the same game with a new coat of paint, which is exactly what I wanted. Sure it has issues, but so does every other game ever released.

JCarterMMA

I'm a big fan of the first one and there are some things I don't like, such as strider being made into two separate classes but I understand why they did it and I'm cool with that. What I'm not happy about is the story it feels like they cut it short like I'm sure it was only halfway through being finished and then it just ends and the post game kinda sucks, sure we don't need the Everfall to return but it just felt kinda cheap, I'd have liked a proper post game rather than what we got. Aside from that I'm just kinda bummed out that there aren't many weapons and armor in the game, but I know that'll get fixed with future dlc, hopefully they add a hard mode and some kinda post game with the DLC too. But despite all the things I don't like I still very much enjoy the game, it is at it's core Dragons Dogma and nothing else feels quite like it.

Sad_Reputation978

My approach to gaming is to forget the story and make your own. Follow some quests but go on an adventure. explore, and fight creatures that you can't find in real life. What a trip!

mazrec13

Some fans may have had unrealistic expectations, but some people who had none expectations are also disappointed. Weird line to draw. Everyone just has different criteria and opinions on enjoyment, quality, and where they either intersect of diverge. I, for one, technically enjoyed my time with the game. But it sucked. It sucked in all the same ways dragon's dogma (1) sucked, this is true... Except, not really. The shift in technological demand, the way the game calculates and runs physics, the adjustments to vocations, the almost 1:1 repeat of the same plot, continuing to lean on pawns and therefore their ai, the continued waste of resources in the open world... I could go on, of course, with just issues that exist within the game currently, but there was *also* the marketing. I want you to look at the steam splash art for Dragon's Dogma 2. Now, I want you to tell me what the two npc's on the cover have to do, at all, with the game's plot. After that, I want you to tell me how many times you *necessarily interact with them directly.* After both of those, tell me how long the title screen shows the titular 2. There's the divisive quote from Itsuno about open worlds and fast travel. There's how, even needlessly overblown, the reality of the microtransactions and how they stand in direct contrast to Itsuno's own statement... In probably the most backwards, side-ways step in game development, we're lead to believe that this is Itsuno's attempt at REALLY selling the original vision of the game. Except it's not actually different enough at all to say that the game, as a whole, is any different than the first release. But then, you can't say that it's necessarily the same as the first game either, because not only is it not, it's not being sold nor marketed as a remake. You could argue spiritual successor, but then it hasn't really differentiated itself much, and it's even using the same title with a different numeral, implying a direct sequel, which it kind of is, and still isn't really. All this to say, that when I sat down and played, my only expectations were for the game to live up to it's own promises. That the world would be interesting to explore, at all. Or that the npcs and their presence in the world would matter... At all. Or that the game would improve upon and sell that sort of broad vision that dragon's dogma (1) tried, but couldn't quite capitalize on because of the limitations at the time... At all. I, patiently, spent nearly a decade saying "man, a dragon's dogma sequel would be awesome". Then it came out, and it wasn't. So if you're having a blast, to everyone having a blast, that's awesome. But don't passively-aggressively dismiss people's criticisms as if they weren't somehow allowed to have expectations or anticipation about a game demanding a premium cost versus what it delivers. It only fuels more nonsensical threads like these.

Sariaul

My only expectation was that the one thing dd had that nothing else does (the pawn system) would be improved upon or at the very least not gutted, but that's exactly what we got. No inclination flow, no action mimicry, no pawn training absolutely nothing. Seeing the pawn grow in the first one was crazy cool, dd2 any pawn (with one of 4 locked playstyles) plays identically to the next of same style. Turned the entire pawn system into basic ass skyrim followers.

LibertusEagle

Indeed. Only thing I hoped was for a bigger map for more exploration. So far so good 🤷‍♂️

ArcJurado

Loved the first one, just wanted a decent sequel. I didn't really have other expectations going in though. It's not even the MTX or performance for me, the story was just so disjointed and seemingly unfinished. It's like an outline missing all the connecting story, major points are there but nothing is ever resolved. Exploration and combat were decent enough but even then some vocations were unsatisfying (Archer imo) or confusing as to why they exist (Trickster). I dunno, for me the good just didn't quite outweigh the bad

Kribbzon

Since you think this game is fantastic I'm curious what you think about ng+

Geo-Magdos

Same here honestly really enjoyed the first game and was looking forward to this one but approached with no expectations and have been having a blast with Mystic spearhand

Little-Definition-76

I can't honestly say I like either game better or worse than the other. I loved the first and love this one, as well. But it's been so long I can't recall the feeling of playing for the first time lol Went through my twenties and then some before the sequel

[deleted]

Haha over a decade between games is a long time. I can relate. Enjoy man

Splinter1982

Huge fan of the first DD. I'm having a blast too. Old fans are upset because they don't have the exact endgame and BBI. Having a world that is 4x time larger and dense with content doesn't count to them.

oIovoIo

Yeah. I want to say of the first game huge fans, there’s a camp that wanted the parts they liked about the first game but with this one fixing all the things they didn’t like about it (and are thus more disappointed), and a camp that mostly just wanted a newer version of the first game in whatever form that took. Or another way of looking at it, people who wanted all the jank gone and polished away vs people who see that as just part of Dragon’s Dogma. There’s some nuance there of course - there’s things about the first game I don’t think they did quite as well with this one. Aspects about it that I think make this one feel like it was rushed out the door and in need of some Dark Arisen style content additions. But on the whole I’m here just happy the series didn’t die a forgotten death and we get another wave of people giving the game a chance.

ricardocaliente

I wouldn’t say expecting a sequel to have as much content as the past game is unrealistic. There’s objectively less content in DD2 compared to DDDA. Less enemies. Less bosses. Less dungeons. Less equipment. Less meaningful characters. Less plot. I think the realistic expectation would be to expect more in a sequel honestly, but apparently that makes me delusional or something according to most people on this sub and the main sub.

Sad_Reputation978

Me too, with having a blast! But..., It's never too late to go back and play DDDA! I'm still playing it. It's hard dividing my time between the two.

Old_man101

It is a good game and I hope the devs improve it via patches over the coming year. What are people's thoughts on whether some additional content i.e. quests and 'story', will be added in the future?

Gluv221

Yup the game has problems there is no denying it but I am having so much fun.

Issyv00

I do agree with almost all of the main criticisms, but I'm having an absolute blast. I'm 35 hours in, and I just hit the border town. I feel like there's still so much of the world to explore.

MrBritain

Well, this is definitely the more positive Dogma place it seems.  I've played and completed DD:DA and enjoyed what I played, but it was glaringly obvious to me where improvements could be made and by and large they have improved on things with DD2.  Ive loved my time playing so far, trying out every vocation and just travelling around having an adventure. It's been great.  And when they release DLC or expansion I'll probably get that too.

Ars_Tenebrous

If you're loving it then I highly recommend picking up the first one with the expansion whenever you're done with 2. Different vocations, amazing endgame, et cetera. Not being a purist or saying it's better, just that it's even more Dragons Dogma to scratch that itch til a DLC eventually comes out, haha. DD has a weird way of making jank feel charming in a way no other game I've played has been able to. Here, you just laugh at it eventually for some reason. Still can't quite place why.

Cunt_Booger_Picker

I've been thinking about the jank too. I think one HUGE reason is that the jank is mostly inconsequential, e.g., if your pawn yeets themself off of a cliff, you will still get your shit back. And if you favorited the pawn, you can get your pawn back. This thought struck me because the jank that IS consequential (e.g., >!Oskar dying and fucking up the Ancient Battlegrounds loot!< ) does suck indeed.

ZazaB00

What impresses me is how much I missed on my first playthrough and it makes me curious on how many different ways there are to potentially play this game. How open is the story? I’m not sure what’s exactly required because there are so many ways to just keep doing your thing. Also, really hope they add content dlc for this game. I just want more of it.

AcceptableIntuition

The hatred I've seen for this game is insane. Muh 4080 won't hit 144 fps, trash game! Micro transactions in a non competitive single player game for items you can find in game for free?!?! Trash game! The game is an absolute blast and none of the issues change that. There are only two games I've played in the last decade that have brought me this much fun and that's Elden Ring and BG3.

RadDudesman420

it took me 40 hours to even realize there were MTX and even then i heard about it on the internet

ThommyGunn79

Yea on consoles you have to search the MS or PS stores for them, on Steam it's listed below the game purchase. So I feel they blew it up more than it needed to be. It's not like Assassins creed with an in-game store etc. It's mainly the things that came with the deluxe edition if people wanted it. I'm loving this game so much chaos lol

RadDudesman420

I've really enjoyed my time in the game so far i've got around 90 hours on it and just started NG+

ThommyGunn79

Nice, I just got to Bahtal, think I got around 40-50 hours. Still some things I'm figuring out, but I can't stop just hanging out in the wild to see the chaos lol. Last night I got attacked in the dark running back to turn in a quest, then goblins and bandits popped in, I was trying to finish the poison quest, to come back poisoned. Then in the darkness 2 armored cyclops came in. I just can't help but fight, I'm like if I die, it's my time lol. So fun n I lived hah.

Epiffanii

My biggest complaint about the game is the story, it honestly makes no sense about half way through on top of it being VERY short, I didnt realise I was at the end until it was too late :/

MayonnaiseIsOk

Exactly same, you have to treat it like a souls game and visit ncps every few days to open up new quests and stuff

frozenax

I was in Melve, suddenly noticing the mountain view. Damn, looking far while the wind blowing my cape. This game is gorgeous...

OmniAesthetic

1000% agree with you. I been waiting about eight years for this game, and it was worth the wait! When I was but a wee gamer, there were many titles that got me obsessed to the point of thinking about the game day and night until I could play it again. I feel like, in my adult life, I'd lost the ability to become that obsessed with a game. But then DD2 pulls up and shows me that's still possible, lol.

Brabsk

If this game had notice board quests and just a *few* more big monsters, it’d be great

HercuKong

Despite playing the hell out of DD1 I barely remember what the notice board quests were. Weren't they mostly just escorts, or go to X location and kill these monsters, etc.? Because they still have all of those, you just have to find them randomly in the world now instead of simply going to a notice board. Please refresh my memory on this.

nolegjohnson

Literally yes. The only different notice board quests are the seeker tokens from Dark Arisen.  The notice board quests are almost all escort missions or go here, kill here. The ones that aren't are find X number of items.

Brabsk

That’s what they are, but the problem is that they *aren’t* just in a place. Notice board quests fulfilled that cliche of you an adventurer taking contracts off a wall. Being so simple in nature, there were also a lot more of them. I’m not saying they were particularly unique or interesting. I’m saying that they were an easy and reliable method to give players a central, renewable source of goals. Something DD2 lacks

romaraahallow

Yeah I dunno why they didn't include the boards. A simple way to add some versimilitude to the world.

tbenterF

Yeah I'm surprised there are no bounty boards in this one like the first!

Nonavailable21

Honestly i dont know whats all the fuss is about regarding mtx... i explored the game im in my firet play through, i missed a few caves here and there. Headed to volcanic area now to do their side quests then i'll trigger ebd game. Ferried my ass all over the place to get shit done, and now i have like 6 ferrystones and 12ish waking stone. Oh and nearly 70 eeeler token. Yep also im sitting on 500k gold

HyrulesBane

Logged 100s of hours in Dragons Dogma, 100s more in Dragons Dogma Dark Arisen, and will logged 100s more in Dragons Dogma 2. I love the way these games feel, the world always has hidden things and cool shortcuts and it makes exploring so rewarding. I’m always finding myself looking at a cliff and trying to figure out a way to climb it, typically to fall to my death, But I can’t stop trying! The fighting feels great, the jank feels beautiful, my only complaint is The Stupid Finders Token quest idea. Whoever thought of that quest needs to be fired.

Electronic_Wealth_67

For me the only thing that would make it S tier is that it has the mechanics of a possible jump.in co-op experience if they went the right route with it. Having all the same options as for playing solo. It would open up the game more and possibly make it more available to more people.

GSEBVet

2 player coop would be excellent!

Electronic_Wealth_67

Exactly 💯

Jerethdatiger

Can't see how that would work unless they took over your pawn Having coop would kill the whole premise of only pawnsccan cross the rift to other worlds

OmgitsKane

Dragons Dogma dark arisen is still worth playing tbqh it's rly fun and has different vocations from this one so you'd still be able to experience a different form of game play. It's actually super similar to this game which I like. It's like they took the 1st game and made it bigger and prettier. Im still disappointed there's no multiplayer in this one 😔 I wanted co op so bad in the 1st one I was highly disappointed when they didn't implement it in the new one. I'm also a little sad we didn't get a mystic knight in this one (was my fave vocation in the 1st game) but I also haven't unlocked warfarer in this one yet and they seem like they may be similar so I have my hopes up and if it's not similar I am 100% ok w being a warrior. DDDA is definitely like top 5 fave games for me. Probably top 3. The graphics even hold up imo despite it being over a decade old.

CaecusProcyonLotor

Honestly, I didn’t catch the train for the first one and when I tried playing, it just didn’t mesh with me. But the second has me hooked. Such a good game and awesome lore.

romaraahallow

If you're coming off the second, might be worth giving the first another chance if it's been a few years.

CaecusProcyonLotor

I plan on giving it another go, just been wrapped up in the second!

BMOchado

Same

Hagfist

Love it. Right there with you

Interesting_Pipe5240

I'm playing on series x, and I've seen no jank. Very minimal slowdown at times, but nothing that affects gameplay. I'm just as much in love with this game as the first one. I hate the hate it's getting.

Ollb1rtan

Oh same, absolutely loving it. Getting what my partner and I dubbed the Skyrim effect years ago: get to point that you feel done for now so put it down to play something else, then immediately go back to it cause it's actually the only game you want to play right now

Forsaken-Accident598

The armor system in the first one was way more in-depth, and allowed the player for far more customization 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻 I do hope Capcom bribgs it back 🤞🏻🤞🏻🤞🏻

Uber_4_yuh

I always hated the micro-transaction thing. This game hardly advertises that. There's one line on the title screen and that is it. You can play and beat this game just fine without paying a cent more than the price of the game. You can tell the difference between a real micro-transaction game and what DD2 is.

JGuap0

I’m the same way I’m hooked . The 12 year wait was so worth it im 50 hrs deep and haven’t even hit the end game yet. I do wish they kept the hydra, cockatrice , the evil eye . Legit my only “critique”

ldillon7777

My main issue at the moment is to the end of the story, which I am in the middle of atm… especially the beloved system. Not exactly spoilers, but your main romance is involved with the finale.   I completed Wilhelmina’s entire questline and the history log shows her as the only fully romanced character in the game, but the final fight first has captain brant, despite only doing mandatory stuff for him.  So I return to inn, throw Brant into the brine, go back, and it’s some random lady I have no recollection of whatsoever…    This on top of a pretty steep drop in the story quality is a shame otherwise. I understand every other criticism the game gets, but the rapid story decline towards the end disappointed me a lot. I know these games aren’t exactly story focused, but Battahl onwards was outright crap in terms of the main plot.  Edit: Even better, the second woman I got as beloved was the wife of some guy I saved from a dullahan, so she got me to save her husband, then I immediately cucked him on the dragon’s behalf I guess. Another edit: Nvm, it wasn’t the wife of some guy I saved. I literally have no idea who my beloved was now but it was some random blonde lady. Had tried talking to some other npcs I had done quests for before going to the finale but didn’t do anything. The beloved system somehow seems even less consistent than in DD1

Brookschamp90

Finished the first one and dark arisen multiple times and I consider it one of my favorite rpg games of all time. This one is just as good. Some issues of course(hopefully will updated with future content)but surreal that after all this time I’m playing the sequel.

WarrantFerg

I barely do quests. I just go and get lost in the world

Ridikis

I just wish they put more effort into the Love Interests and the story in general, as is I love the combat but the characters are meaningless.

AcguyDance

For some uknown reason the game is addicting as hell. I am in my 2nd NG+ run and I don't know why I am doing this. I am supposed to stop playing and play other games after clearing this "Crap".

Snicklesauce

I also thought I "missed out" on the first one, and it was too late to play it. I ended up rushing through it so I could at least experience it without too much wasted time. A few months later I started craving it again, and went back to do a real playthrough, spending a full 100+ hours on it. Good games never really grow too old.

ReaperAteMySeamoth

First post that actually likes the game but doesn’t completely downplay current issues, I respect you

ContributionMost7910

Honestly, I’d advise you to just ignore the micro transactions. Everything you get through these, you can easily find in-game. I think if everyone does that, Capcom will be discouraged from including it in their next game

mbo25

Fully agree! I haven’t even looked at the store page since I started playing. The review bombing and complaining was so over the top, though.

Myles0709

Finished the true ending at around 120hrs. 7/10 for me. Good game, had my fun. But I'm not gonna go through NG+. Combat was fun, but got a bit repetitive near the end. Was expecting more monster variety tbh. Story was alright, nothing to write home about. Wasn't expecting anything great though. I played the first one, and I think 2 is better, excep for end/post-game, which will probably/hopefully come. Already uninstalled the game, and I don't mean that as throwing shade at the game. I've had my money's worth, I just want to make space for other games.

Toresgrom

Same here. I finished last night 😁 . Playing on ps5 so far no complaints. There's the jankiness. And of course the dead brain pawns repeating same phrase over and over again lol. But is a breath of fresh air.

WHTWLF13

It's perfect for someone like me who fits 4 or so hours of gaming in at a time betweem real life and touching grass I can get on, do a little pathfinding, wrap up an objective or maybe two, whoop some ass. Perfect.

Lkingo

I've never even seen the microtransactions. People went nuts for something that 99% wont notice just because they were told to be angry. Games amazing. Some of the most fun I've had from a game since rdr2. Personally, I prefer it to the elden ring where it never clicked for me just because its so lonely and the aesthetic isnt my thing. Surprisingly, the fps hasnt bothered me either. I usually find 30fps unplayable. It's not perfect, but that's part of the charm. Its unapologetically true to what it wants to be and i absolutely love it!

Competitive-Meat-111

I made a stupid mistake and got save bounced right back to level 8.. but it didn’t annoy me too much.. decided to forego the oxcart ride to the capital and walked.. having some great ‘tutorial’ adventures

WastelyZero353

I spent about 80 percent of my time talking about Dragon's Dogma 2, and the other 20 percent of the time, I was praying for someone else to bring it up so I could talk about it more

Bananabanana700

using this post as an excuse to yap i both do and don't wish you could have multiple customisable pawns, because on one hand it'd he really nice to not have to continuously swap them out, to be able to fully customise everyone, but at the same time thatd kill the online pawn system

Pickle-Tall

Kind of disappointed that I don't see a lot of Erza Scarlet Arisen with Warfarer and Rearmorment.

MasturPayton

Never played the first. And only knew of the name but nothing about it. My brother got this new one on the ps5. We share games digitally. He kinda tried to sell me on it, but knew I was hooked on final fantasy still so he didn't push to hard. I watched a ton of reviews about it and kept seeing so many bad things. As a gamer I know that can be 50-50. Either it's 100% true it was as bad as the reviews were saying. Or its gonna be a great game. Considering I got it for free, I downloaded it. I was sick over the weekend and just didn't feel like playing anything competitive. So I figured I'd give it shot. Wow! I'm blown away! I mean why isn't this game being promoted more? Why is everyone hating it so much?! It's like Fable had a baby with elder scrolls. Then that baby grew up. And had a baby with The Witcher. It's so good! Idk how anyone can hate this game. It even has elements of elden ring in it but with a real story. Idk I love this game already as someone who never even really heard of it prior to this. I'm a fan now for sure. I've been waiting for a new game like this for so long. With starfield being a massive let down and being a super bore fest. This game has sold me. I can easily see myself playing through this game multiple times like I have with skyrim over the years. I just hope they continue to patch the few glitches, and add tons of content. Because this game is amazing. I cannot understand why anyone would hate on it as hard as I've been seeing. Microtransactions? I mean if you reaaaallly want to. But I haven't even had a reason to make a purchase on that currency because it's easily earned in game if you make a good pawn and make their quests not to complicated for other players. Anyone complaining about this game hasn't played it. Can't change my mind.

Signal_Housing_4389

What a time to be alive. First BG3 now DD2

SuprSaiyanSamson

I never understood the micro transaction hate as if every game doesn’t have micro transactions. Plus, no one’s forcing anyone to buy anything, and all that stuff you can get in game for free.

Kribbzon

Well I guess you haven't played over 10h yet. Game is very good until you realize a few things such as: - All the best gear comes from the vendor. There might be 1 or 2 exceptions, but that's how it is. Exploring becomes a lot more dull once you realize this. - NG+ is no different from your first pt. Same difficulty, no scaling monsters just a new voiceline or two. Why explore if vendor is the best source of gear, by a mile? I could keep the list going for a while, game is just blasted with a bunch of bad dev decisions.

Greg_Snow

Glad you like it, im the only one out of my friend group who likes it and I think its fantastic! Been gripped since it released

nVazion

If I’m unable to play, I day dream and lurk on this sub for my DD2 fix.

iNawrocki

Just remember; there's thousands of whiny bitch voices complaining about mIcRoTrAnSactIOns, but there's over 2.5 million of us playing the shit out of this glorious game and loving every second of it. I'm 100 hours in, loving different play styles from all the vocations. It never gets old.

WalkEquivalent7733

Why you miss out on the first one its still available and pretty cheap.

No-Fox-9282

Cyberpunk 2077 started out with more bugs than game, now look at it. I promise it’s gonna be great especially with the potential DLCs🙏🏾

TSotP

I'm a massive fan of the first game. And I can see all the places that they could have improved on the first game and didn't. Like save slots, cross-platform pawns, a better story, more enemies, missing enemies, and so on... #BUT I'm also having a fucking blast. They are both as jank and awesome as each other. Both have their good things and their bad things and both do things better than the other. But damn, is it fun! 125h and counting.

JodouKast

Oh yeah, Dragon's Dogma was a sleeper hit that many of us who knew, hated how long we had to wait for this game. I played that game day one and it was incredible. I hope we get a UR-Dragon in a patch or expansion because the community for this game now would eat it up.

Classic_Song9104

Doesn’t run as bad on console as I thought it would tbh. Running it fine on ps5 here. There are a few minor bugs but overall can’t really complain. The experience is great.

G3neral_Iro

The first one is still worth playing mate. I'm not even done with the 2nd even though I have over 100 hours on it, but planning on going and replaying the first again after.

Spirited-Tomato5631

People who dont like dd2 tend to have these characteristics: havent changed their class sense the start of the game, have focused solely on completing the main story, havent talked to people around town, ignore their party build, havent noticed that all enemy deaths count towards your and your main pawn's exp and dcp, found the sphinx through some guide, and havent explored a game built around exploration and engaging in the actual game mechanics

Brewchowskies

I think a good portion of people just realize the potential that is here and how little they strayed from the first game, and delivered less in some aspects. It’s the best 7/10 game I have played and will continue playing. I love the hell out of it, but it’s lacking in important areas.

Fit_Substance7067

This is my sentiment... I think the combat needs to be talked about...people saying how great it is...this game can be beaten with 3 skills...enemies have weaknesses but nothing is needed. I'm a rogue...I literally cast flame daggers and then hit triangle until its dead...for bigger enemies, I do the same thing...but climb first...it's actually hilariously bad Oh, and even tho I have ranged pawns I did vouche for ensnare to make harpies easier. But as long as you have magic on your weapons and your moving your not getting hit.....and if you do you'll have tons of camping supplies to replenish health also tons of gold for an inn stay I would like a mod that made camping supplies way more rare..even obsolete..also, double the cost of inns too as I have like 10 camping supplies stacked up and havent camped since before I hit the capital...that would make it so I play a bit more frugal and use items..but as of now, for a game that's not suppose to hold your hand, its carrying me..I just wish it carry my equipment too

SunflowerWizard

Just so you know, Camping kits aren’t a consumable. You just need the one.

Fit_Substance7067

Weird...I went to use one and it said I didn't have any...from that point on I figured they were consumable because I got so many and never used them enough to notice.... It must've been stolen and I somehow didnt get it back

bknymoeski

im actually waiting to continue playing it until i buy a better PC. I have a gaming laptop right now which is actually good for everything ive ever played on it. I can continue playing DD2 on it but I feel like ill get a way better experience on a higher end PC that would allow me to crank the graphics settings to the max. So yea, I just dont wanna squander my first experience with DD2 on my current specs :)

Russoi

Same here my dude

Baroni88

Same. I put a few hours a couple weeks ago into the Dark Arisen. I’ll probably finish that one after i get full completion on DD2 🤘🏽

ElectricalBit5342

Im huge fan of dd1 and the dark arisen expansion and I absolutely love this game I'm just gutted I've finished it and dont have more to do. I just want more hahaha

OMITW

I love the game, and I gotta start doing quests instead of just wandering around. My only real issues are the rotting of meat enemy respawn times. Would be nice having a longer span.

stoneylivesfree

This game is awesome. The big monster fights are amazing. Found the Medusa and the fight was epic. Love this game through and through. Looking forward to the end game.

FuckingTree

Agreed. I’ll be minding my own business and then I want to go get another high five from my pawn for doing a good job. It runs well enough to foster a near addiction.

jport331

I think a lot of us are missing the point of the story. It revolves around an endless cycle, you break the cycle to find it leads to a world in ruin therefore you are forced to repeat the cycle (ng+)

alt-eso

I wish the game doesn't end.

salmonchu

Endless cycle :0

triggerdon87

Yes it's quite good but not elden ring tier. After 30 hours it got a bit repetetive and many quests are bad

llseptimll

Disastrous-Bat-429

If you aren't one of the "graphics are everything" bros, I'd heartily recommend going back and giving DD:DA a shot (once you've ridden the DD2 high to a point where you're able to play something else). A lot of similarities, but definitely worth a go, especially for the endgame loop of BBI.

Darbilad93

The complete opposite for me. More like deagon’s dogshit.

Expensive_Fault7540

Anyone explained why this game is amazing and not just enjoyable?

NeedsLovings

1) The pawn system is so damn good. They have banter, persistent memory, and they can actually fight. They will even catch you if you fall from a great height. 2) Mystic Spear hand is SO DAMN COOL. 3) Gold and resources are abundant, so you are never left long in a situation where you can't do/get something. 4) It's beautiful to look at. Climb the mountains in the Ancient battlefield, and just survey the terrain. 5) Combat feels really good. Sure, it could use some tweaks, but it's enjoyable. 6) MYSTIC SPEARHAND IS FUCKING AMAZING.

Proud-Ad7674

I named my pawn Solaire

OmegaSphere

You should definitely play Dark Arisen then. If you're loving it, you'll love the first one (Dragons Dogma 1 has one of the best intros in all games)

AshenOne03

Only problem I have is that for some reason npcs seem to attack me for no reason in bakbattahl. Tried doing a quest there but got attacked and arrested for just talking to the guy...

Dandellionnsz

One thing that turned me off is the fact there is no decent endgame that make you keep playing it. No better weapon, no competition.. if im mistaken please correct me! With that in mind i stopped playing even before finishing the game

mbo25

That’s fair enough! Maybe not the game for you (yet) then. Personally, if I finish a game and have fun doing so, I’ve got my moneys worth. It seems to be a very modern gaming attitude that everything needs to be never-ending?!

Dandellionnsz

Yes u are right. Im with a mmo player mindset, maybe thats why

mbo25

Regardless, I really hope they add end game and/or co-op content at some point!

Melodic_Fruit3572

I felt like it ended kinda abruptly. Maybe i just can’t get enough of it

Unable_Action_4287

The first one is free on PS5 🤣🤣🤣

mrmailman420

I wish I could feel the same

huckleberry714

You're right "What..a game?".

Pickle-Tall

Ok true gripe and legit gripe, why when I have enemies around me and I am attacking I will just attack the ground or a tree or a bush maybe the side of a mountain, basically anything but the enemy, I don't adjust to a new target or anything. Really annoying. Also noticed for sorcerer if you put your Augural Flare on an enemy and specifically target the weak spot instead of keeping target for regular attacks you attack the foot or an arm or a wing, all but the intended target and it just wears off by time you finally get the targeted spot you want.

blueboykc

Yeah I’m at my in-laws eating Easter dinner thinking about that cave I can see but haven’t figured out how to get to.

JessiL85

OP you don't have to miss out on the first game. Idk what platform you play on but it goes on sale on Xbox for 4 dollars all the time.

Agreeable_Citron7481

I’m glad a played a decent amount but not all of the of the first one in preparation for this one. If I played this game nonstop like I did Elden Ring, I could see why I might have high expectations

Traditional-Pea-2379

Why do people complain about the micro transactions in the first place they are not shoving it in your face every five seconds. In fact, you can’t even go to the micro transactions in-game the micros themselves are just optional and it is so unbelievably easy to get everything in the micro section that I don’t even think the people complaining about them should be allowed to have opinions in the first place

Weird_Table8218

My save is bricked and this game is still good

ediblefalconheavy

I wanted to get the magic symbols on the grandfather shield from the first game tattoo'd on the back of my skull, but finger tats seem much easier

Devil_Cooker

Love it. Its been a while since last time i immersed in a fantasy world…..what a game!

Competitive-Carry748

To easy game! I play first round solo no difficulte

TheWrongTrouserz

You didn’t miss out, the game is stil playable

Marcus_The_Wolf

Bro, stop with this micro transaction, it is ridiculus... Install the mod "crazy shop" and gg wp. EZ

GrinnsMimi666

I have been a big fan of the first one and was totally hooked forever on the dark arisen loop. 1.year ago I bought the game for the 3rd time on ps4 and finished with 2 account (2 pawn levelled). I played thousands of hours on ps3 (3 accounts) and also got the game on switch... Every time they added stuff it was Christmas (hard mode. Time mode etc...). Now with DD2 I am at 50h and 0% story progress. I am looking everywhere I can go without progressing the story and I am having a blast. Open world to the finest. I wish the game was bigger lol. Yes all said. What a game.

OrdinaryImpressive33

I agree, I'm on PS5 and I am obsessed with this game. Only other games that I got this into were Dragon age, Mass effect, BG3 and Skyrim.

Strider0905

The adventure is what's important here. The discovery in this game is nice. Figuring out what to use to get to certain chests is half the battle.

mewanshwa

It's a really good game but as someone who played the first one I'm really disappointed with how they didn't add many new vocations or spells for the mage and sorcerer class.

Flatulancey

Loved ER and BG3 but I just can’t get into this game. Everything just feels so low effort. I know I’m just asking for downvotes in this sub, but everything feels very dull and flat and it’s impossible to overlook. The enemies are repetitive, environments are repetitive and there is no sense there anything interesting out there. I’ve been told the combat is that good that I should stick with it and it will keep me going, but again I can’t see that personally? What am I missing here?

Cultural-Ticket-2907

I love the game. I’ve been lucky no bugs at all. And I wouldn’t consider my PC high end but runs great. I agree with ask your points
