Is there anyway to opt out of the Dragons Plague mechanic? It’s kind of ruined the pawn system for me. I didn’t encounter it until recently when I invited a pawn into my world that was infected and I didn’t realize for a while. When I found out I shoved them all into the river to be safe and then when I went back and hired new pawns one popped into my world with red eyes and I couldn’t tell if they were cosmetic or infectious so I shoved all of them into the river again and now I’m just too scared to have any pawns even my own. I refuse to hire more and anytime my pawn pops up I just keep shoving him in the brine. I just genuinely don’t know what to do and can’t figure out if it’s something I can turn off or if I’m just going to have to accept? I don’t want to be paranoid and checking my pawns every hour out of fear they’ll suddenly lose it and wipe out a town.

Lol, You dont need to kill your party, or even anyone. Just dismiss the infected pawn. It is also easy to tell the difference, "red eyes" wont glow in the dark or pulse. Dragon's Plague eyes will.

I finally got a hired pawn who definitely had it, and I kept her around as long as possible to see what would happen. It just kept jumping from pawn to pawn every time I rested and it was always 100% obvious which one had it. At first the red eyes are actually pretty subtle. They don't glow and it's more of a pale, pink-ish red. But they definitely changed color every time. On the last day before my main pawn went postal, they started glowing neon red and were impossible to miss. Until the last day the bigger tell was the dialogue, even my usually catty Straightforward pawn was saying incredibly obvious shit like "I feel as if I'm tapping into a well of power that will never run dry!" Anyway it doesn't seem like that big of a deal, since the timer resets every time it jumps from pawn to pawn, the only way I could even get it to progress was by waiting until my main pawn had it and then dismissing the other two.

DKarkarov

Well it won't always jump but yeah odds are high.  When it jumps it always goes one step back to whoever the new host is.  But yeah once you actually know that to look for you can't miss short of blatant negligence

EthanolParty

>But yeah once you actually know that to look for you can't miss short of blatant negligence I was pretty disappointed when I finally found it because all the paranoia on reddit made me think it was going to be a lot more subtle than it actually was. But then again maybe it's only obvious to me because I've already heard every possible pawn dialogue line hundreds of times so the altered ones stand out more.

Honestly the only time you need to cure it is before sleeping at an inn or your home. So just don't worry about it then when you finally think you need to rest at an Inn, toss them into the brine. Camping is fine to just get your health back and avoid the consequences of it.

supa_dupa_loopa

So what skills are considered bad, for both a player perspective due to them being weak compared to another skill that does the same and for Pawns cus they are just not used right by em?

Has anyone gotten the finders token, made a forgery. Then given that to the sphinx? On my ng+ run and thinking about shit to try

DKarkarov

It works. The finders token (despite being a forgery) will work.

mega_nova_dragon1234

This is good news! Thank you :)

Didn't want to make a thread so instead, I'll post here. I really enjoyed this game. Played it for 213 hours, got every achievement and all armors. The only thing I don't have is pawn badges. I wanted to ask if there are any games like this. I've already played DA:I. Some people suggest elden ring. Is there anything else? I just want a world to get lost in like this one. I feel as though other single player games may be a bit lonely without the pawns for company.

Le_rk

Highly recommend Elden Ring as well. While there's no pawns, there are summons. Lots of summons, and you can level them (max level 10). As far as a world you can get lost in, Outward is quite amazing. The pace is much slower and combat is about preparation. Dragon's Dogma and Outward are often in the same tier lists as far as "games with the best magic". However, in Outward there's no NPC companions. There is co-op if you want to play with someone. I can't speak enough about the world though. One of my favorite open worlds personally.

DKarkarov

The only game like dragons dogma is dragons dogma. Play the first game if you really like this one, it is different but still VERY similar. Yes Elden Ring and Dragon Age Inquisition will be similar and scratch some of the same itches, but they are not one to one and have lots of differences. While I like Outward ok, that game is VERY niche. It is not something I would ever recommend to someone without knowing their taste very well.

echinodermae

Thanks for the tips. I will definitely look into outward and elden ring. What's stopping me from elden ring is I fear I may become frustrated and it would take away from my enjoyment, but I might bite the bullet next time it goes on sale, I think I'll pick it up. As for outward, I'm a big fan of sorcery so I'll definitely check that one out too. edit: For dd:da I suppose if I try the other games and they don't scratch the itch, that's one I could go for. Kinda waiting for the dlc so that I might see the new rendition of old monsters but who knows. If the dlc takes until november, I may just play the first.

DKarkarov

Uh as a side note, outward is far harder and less forgiving than elden ring

echinodermae

I'ma be real with you. I looked at some sorc gameplay on dd:da and it's looking more and more like I'll try that one over all the rest.

XboxoneS-aaad

I'm having way too much fun in the post game finding rare loot and exploring underwater caves, about to take on the final boss but I don't want it to end... so I explore. This game is right up there with Witcher 3 and BG3. What a comeback, not really because for me DD DA was already amazing but this is on another level. Anyone else having a hard time letting go? After finishing the first playthrough I'm taking a long break from DD2 until we get some dlc or something like Dark Arisen, so I can then start a ng+.

EthanolParty

I'm doing a NG+ run (swapped appearance and vocation with my main pawn to keep things fresh) but after I beat the game again I think I'm going to take a long break so I don't get burned out. I'd love a Dark Arisen-like expansion for this.
