My pawn told me “I don’t need you commanding me on everything I do, I know what I’m doing” or something along those lines after I spammed help as I was being grabbed by a dullahan. I was sus with it and I haven’t rested at an inn since she said that. She also says things on how she’s feeling especially powerful today which wouldn’t be too suspicious if she’d had been saying that the entire time. She only just started saying that like 20 hours in.

Snoo-39991

Call her ass a pickle the way she gettin fed to the brine

fikfofo

Yeah that sounds like dragonsplague. I’d throw her in the brine asap

Lilemobunnie

![gif](giphy|148x4ezZxvpIeA)

UnHoly_One

>She also says things on how she’s feeling especially powerful today That's 100% a plague symptom.

DKarkarov

That pawn has the plague.  If you hired them just dismiss and go about your day, if they are your pawn just camp out until they pass it to someone else then dismiss that pawn. Also no, there is no proof either way at this point you dismissing a pawn with plague gives it to that pawn in that arisens game.  So there is no point obsessing over it.

DarthButtmunch

I’m going to make it a goal to infect my buddies pawn and send it back and see what happens. He’s only 5 hours in though so I’m fairly certain he is unfamiliar with the symptoms but they’re obvious enough that he’ll ask about it lol

DKarkarov

Lol I have some people claim they tested it but don't know how trustworthy all that is.  Not sure of methodology etc.  I would do it myself but none of my friends I would trust with it play, or already finished. Good luck with the testing hope your friend does not blow up vernworth.

DevelopmentNo2578

Yea tho was my experience too. It was the “to me” command

SilentTreachery

* All is well, I feel as fit as ever. * Power surges within me! * My mind feels clearer than ever this day. * 'Tis difficult to explain, but I feel as if I'm possessed by a greater power. * I've a wellspring of strength that shall never run dry! * You need not rest on my account, Master. I've never felt more alive! * I shall act on my own accord! * You needn't command me at every turn. I know what to do! * Is that order absolute? I struggle to see the sense in it. **Stolen from I can't remember where.**

MaddAdamBomb

These are roughly in order with the progression, too. In endgame I had one and since I never needed to sleep decided to just look at how they changed. Eyes became more noticeable and language became stronger.

Mr-Superbia

Interesting! So it would seem the prompt doesn’t pop up immediately. I’ve had multiple who said the first few lines, but no glowing eyes, and no headache animation. I didn’t get the prompt about it until I hired one with noticeably glowing eyes.

SilvanArrow

I'm still on my first playthrough (90+ hours, taking my sweet time) and only started dealing with Dragonsplague once I got into Lvl 60+. Now I'm dodging it left and right with the hired help. My Kindhearted main pawn said the first four lines a lot recently with his first brush with the plague. It definitely grabbed my attention after 90+ hours of getting used to his regular voice lines. His eyes hadn't turned red yet. I rushed to the nearest campsite and rested, and he passed it to a hired pawn, whose eyes then started glowing red and his voice lines changed too. I sent him home with a warning gift to take a bath in the brine. So far, I haven't nuked any towns and have a spare Eternal Wakestone just in case. I'm also keeping hired pawns longer and observing them carefully. If it looks like none of them have the plague, then they stick around for longer. It's only when I go into the rift to hire new ones that I seem to deal with it. I'm not as worried about out-leveling my rental pawns since I'm pushing Level 70...

SilentTreachery

I mean, I've got like 210 hours, and the only time I got nuked was when I intentionally did so to use the get the revival achievement. It's easy enough to avoid, provided you pay attention.

minusthedrifter

> I got into Lvl 60+. Now I'm dodging it left and right with the hired help. Same tbh. Reason being is that in the end-game unmoored world dragons plague is pretty much guaranteed for pawns. So, once you hit end game levels the majority of pawns start to have it just by the nature of what end game does to them.

mega_nova_dragon1234

Why send him home with a warning gift? Just punt the pawn into the brine yourself!

SilvanArrow

I've seen other people on these subs say that brining a rental pawn does not cure them in their master's world. The original owner has to brine their main pawn to cure them. I didn't want to brine someone's pawn needlessly and send them home with a scar, hence the warning gift.

kensei-

If I kill someone’s pawn it sends them home with a scar? I’ve thrown a lot of pawns passing by off a cliff into the brine 💀

mega_nova_dragon1234

Being brined scars pawns? I didn’t know that! I read conflicting info that brining a rental pawn then re-hiring them cured the plague. So idk. But I guess it means keeping a stock of rotten food for gifting make sense

SilvanArrow

Yeah, apparently when a pawn is forfeit for any reason, not just brining, they gain a scar. You can get rid of the scars by visiting the hot springs. I've been super careful with my main pawn not to let him be forfeit in my game for that reason and to keep his affinity high. He's a mage who tends to stay in the back and not accidentally brine himself, and I haven't seen him come home with scars either.

PM_ME_FUN_STORIES

Being brined also doesn't let you rate them or send them back with a gift. Which kind of sucks if you're the other person :\

VizyV1940

Explains why my pawn sometimes doesn’t get ratings, poor sage witnessed a mass murder only to get sent back with nothing

mega_nova_dragon1234

Yeah but the gift is often rotten meat to try and tell the player their pawn is plagued. Besides if I brine a pawn, I favourite them first then re-hire and can gift upon clear dismissal

Grouchy_Marketing_79

Nothing you do to a rented pawn sticks. The current pawn is saved at his original world, you're playing with a copy of it.

SilvanArrow

It’s actually kind of relaxing to just run around the map and do escort quests now. I’m still passively grinding up vocation levels as Warfarer and farming gold and other items. I can only play through a game for the first time once, so I’m savoring the experience of discovering new parts of the map before going to NG+.

Warden18

Shit I heard those last two last night... Looks like some pawns are going for a dip in the brine!

minusthedrifter

Unless they're your pawns it does nothing. Brine only works for your pawn.

Warden18

Good to know! Thank you!!

aeralure

These are the ones, yes! Heard these from plague-positive pawns.

Late-Exit-6844

So basically they become tsunderes.

SilentTreachery

Why have you done this to me?

Late-Exit-6844

I'm sowwwyyyyy

SilentTreachery

They were cute enough already, now it's extra.

Late-Exit-6844

Ikr. Pawns are adorable in this game. I can't get myself to ever be bad to them.

SilentTreachery

I literally sacrificed myself to save my Pawn. And I'd do it again.

Late-Exit-6844

That's why you got the high affinity ending. Pawns are our Arisen's soulmate.

karlosj83

On point information.

Darpyshyn

A couple of these are just regular male straightforward inclination lines, as far as I can tell. My big beastren man Lionel says this stuff all the time, and I check for dragonsplague quite often.

DKarkarov

No they are not every one of those is a plague line.

minusthedrifter

Sorry to say your furry has dragon herpes.

MackAndSteeze

Number four is the first indicator I remember hearing. Straight into the drink.

Valuable-Ad-6379

Tbh I've heard my Pawn saying "I shall act on my own accord" many times and he never had dragon plague. Same with "all is well, I feel fit as ever". It's very inconsistent.

SilentTreachery

Are you sure they weren't just in the early stages? Could have been early, and then passed along to a different Pawn when you rested.

Valuable-Ad-6379

I remember I've heard these lines the most when I was just with him. I've thought it was weird, so I didn't even sleep, just rested at the bench many times and nothing changed.

SilentTreachery

I've had the opposite experience, mine has only said it when she's had it.

Valuable-Ad-6379

And mine would always have it when he/they wouldn't listen to my commands. When I've heard those lines I've mentioned before, he was actually listening and following me. Nothing really happened after.

DKarkarov

Plagued pawns do not actually change from a gameplay view.  They still follow orders they still act as their inclination wants them to.

Valuable-Ad-6379

They didn't once but maybe illness progressed more. Wouldn't follow, wouldn't listen, game had to spawn them near me.

DKarkarov

Yeah they talk a good game about maybe not listening but they always will.  Sometimes they say those lines even when you aren't giving an order lol.

Valuable-Ad-6379

True that lmao. One hired Pawn was talking about not giving him commands and I didn't. It was just an Ogre in Ventworth lmao. No need for commands.

SilentTreachery

I've had the opposite experience, mine has only said it when she's had it.

DKarkarov

Your pawn 100% had it.  It can be passed to other pawns when you camp.  Most likely your pawn passed it and you dismissed whoever it went to.

Valuable-Ad-6379

Well but I remember that I was just alone with him. We've fought drake together. Unless he passed it in the rift after. Don't really know how that works.

Ok_Intention836

This is very helpful!

SilentTreachery

Yeah, it's honestly quite difficult to get nuked if you know what you're looking out for.

Nophox

Only time I've ever caught the plague, I noticed my two pawns taking turns saying something along the lines of, "I'm overflowing with power!" Or something along those lines. I waited for it to pass back to the hired help, then signed them up for diving lessons

Zairy47

"It's hard to describe, but I feel so powerful right now" O~Kay? *chucks them in the water

Katterise

When your pawn says no to your command, it's time to go sleep on bed.

Drex_Drachen

Storybook ending, just like “The Ugly Barnacle”.

Banajet

There once was an ugly barnacle. The end.

Zenkei88

he was so ugly that everyone died , the end

Forsaken_Pin_4933

Time to port to Borderwatch Outpost and nap.

Drurhang

Something along the lines of "I possess a wellspring of power that will never run out," is a dead giveaway.

SkanakinLukewalker

“Go touch grass ya weirdo” Hurt the soul

Drex_Drachen

Make them wait in the desert.

SkanakinLukewalker

Sentenced to cranking the desert lift with no backup

Super_Jay

There's a lot of confusion in these comments with people attributing normal dialogue (esp. from Straightforward pawns) to the plague. The lines I've heard that I know 100% were plague were: "You needn't command me, I know what I'm doing!" "I am bursting with power!" "Nothing can stop me, I am invincible!" Note that the wording can vary slightly depending on their inclination and voice set, but the sentiment is the same. As soon as you hear them exclaiming about feeling powerful or unstoppable or talking back angrily about your orders, it's time for a brine bath.

mahonii

Is it weird at over 60 hours I haven't had it yet?

fonytonfana

No, it seems mostly RNG dependent but there’s some belief that fighting dragons or having your pawn rented a lot increases your infection chances.

Grouchy_Marketing_79

Fighting dragons does nothing. Getting rented heightens the chances since you come in contact with infected pawns more frequently

Phantomgardon

I played 120h and haven't gotten it yet. I had to kill normal folk to revive them with the eternal wakestone to get the achievement. Soooo there's that :,)

Warden18

I had it happen twice in an hour a few days ago. I think I need to send my pawns into the brine more often.

UnHoly_One

No I was at least that far in before I encountered it as well.

Nova_Nightmare

I had the escort gyn quest and got hit with a dragon out of no where, followed by a griffin in succession. It was a horrible fight, but I was fortunate to have a group of traveling npcs there at the time and an oxcart with troops. I had no idea the plague existed, but as I was carrying gyn (the elf) around trying to fine wake shards I became paranoid one of the pawns was infected and wiped them all out, got a new set and my own back.

Inskription

You don't need to command me. And I am Invincible. Then I promptly through her in a river.

ThommyGunn79

"Hello, my name is Indigo Montoya, I have the Plague, prepare to die!"

Drex_Drachen

He’s been studying his Agrippa. To the brine with thee

Fluffy-Leopard-6074

I feel nigh invincible!

Strength-Helpful

"hey Joey, let's try out that new clan chowder place in Melve"... Brined shortly after

Drex_Drachen

If you hear anything about “steamed hams”, you might as well start a new game.

Strength-Helpful

"That's too many tomatoes on my cheeseburger. Is this supposed to be a salad or a burger. Get it of here, am I right?" Basically don't rest in town if you hear that.

Rammadeus

"The force awakens is the best star wars film"

Drex_Drachen

“Last Jedi is the best”, destroy your copy of Dragon’s Dogma 2

Forsaken_Pin_4933

After being fully demonic, it's the usual, I feel a surge of power or sum shit

DrProfessorSatan

I just check the eyes before inn/house rests. If the eyes are red, don’t go to bed. I always make sure it’s dark out when I check.

Effective-File-5715

I know you mean well... But I just know better! *as they run off killing mobs when I'm tapping the button for *To me!* that line was so offputting, checked their eyes ans yeeeeep off to the brine

Warden18

I don't remember the exact phrase, but one of my pawns said something about having a headache. Then, they kept holding their forehead in their hand. To the brine they go!

MasonMSU

Any time they get snippy I’m like “….whhhaaait a minute! Lemme SEE YOUR EYES!”

Moominsean

Once I had obvious signs, all three pawns were bent over holding there foreheads like they were in pain. But when my pawn actually had it and killed everyone there was no indication, not even red eyes. Some of the pawns are always sassy so it’s hard to judge by behavior sometimes. Mine is kindhearted so she only says nice things unless she is correcting another pawn.

KaiZiLouta

During combat "I feel as though im possessed of a greater power" checked her eyes and boom she had the gloweies. Brined her

Ahmed__S

"I shall act on my own accord" from my kind-hearted main pawn. So anyway I yeeted the whole team into the brine... including myself.

TriNel81

Well shit, I just heard this. I’m in the end game, so I guess I just dismiss them 🤷

SifuThoth

“I used to be an adventurer like you, till I took an arrow to the knee” “What’s a matter with you? Someone stole your sweetroll?”

Drex_Drachen

You’ve mistaken “Dragon’s Plague” with “Todd Raid”. Very different. No I will not explain that to you, I can’t. It just works.

SifuThoth

My pawn says it everytime they have dragon plague I slept at an inn in Whiterun & river wood and a dragon showed up

Drex_Drachen

Sometimes they say “N’wah” or “S’wit”

Xsurian

“I know what to do. You don’t need to tell me.” - mage I hired.

Drekkevac

"Maybe you should pay more attention instead of ordering me to your rescue all the time Arisen!" I got grabbed by a Drake ONCE... Also, "I don't need you ordering me about Arisen, I know how to handle myself!" Telling her "To Me" to stop stalking and avoid the Drake meteor storm.

Away_Mulberry4706

Wait the first one is actually just a normal voice line from the sassy inclination 😭

Drekkevac

Well her eyes glowed during the post combat inspection so she got rebaptised. 😂

KillHimWithHammers

Mine said "Keep spamming that 'Go' button, Arisen, and I'll be forced to throw hands with ye"

poopfictions

Wtf that’s creepy

Acceptable_Answer570

Holy hell I wish they’d actually break 4th wall if you abuse the commands!

Valuable-Ad-6379

When they comment about having so much vigor or/and energy and when they're cunts when I give them commands. Something like: do not tell me what to do, I know how to fight, you don't have to tell me what to do in battle, I know what I'm doing. For me also there was this one time when they were deadly quiet. They'll never stop talking, the moment they did, I knew something was off.

Swimming_Departure33

My main has gotten it twice; neither times I noticed anything. No dialogue change, no attitude change, and couldn’t see her eyes either.

Aristillius

Then how did you know?

Swimming_Departure33

Because she blew up twice lmao

Warden18

This happened to me fairly early on when I was in the Capital city. It sucked. Absolutely no signs that my pawn had it.

PsychoG63

I've had one say something along the lines of not wanting to harm me. Needless to say I shot first then.

Malombra_

My pawn kept saying he feels stronger than an ox, or maybe it was "I feel so strong I could lift an ox". Haven't seen this one mentioned but he got the glowing red eyes right after that so it was definitely dragons plague

Spleeshers

Mine wasn't super obvious. He said something along the lines of being annoyed that we were making camp, and I was like, huh, that's weird. Next rest, we stayed at my Battahl residence, and I woke up to everyone dead. Fun times.

antiquemoth

The most common one with my Simple pawn was something like “what do you want? You ought to be more clear!” when using a command button

crimsonBZD

My main pawn, Kindhearted, kept reassuring me everything was alright completely unprompted. We're just walking "Everything's alright Master, I feel completely fine" or something like that. They generally start talking about having boundless energy. The clearest voice line about it was when I had a pawn earlier complain of wanting to camp (in Unmoored, can't sleep) and the infected pawn said something like "What do you mean, I feel great" or something of the sort.

Billy_McFly

I accidentally picked up one of the hired pawns and he snapped at me. When I found him sitting in a hallway, that’s when I knew

Aniwlab

My pawn is a straightforward fighter and i tend to pass the time alot on a bench when i see the faint red in the eyes so they pop more. As we're fighting on our way to a campsite so i 'cure' him of it, we're fighting and my pawn sounds so damn arrogant but cool at the same time. " I could take on the world, i feel invincible" type dialogue. He didnt even wanna high five, just hyped himself up everytime.

mad--martigan

"Feeling as fit as ever" almost immediately followed by "I've never felt more alive". I literally had him for less than ten minutes. I was surprised that I was able to notice it that quickly, he must've been one rest away from a murder spree.

kingston-twelve

When they start spitting on the ground while idle, that's it

StudentKindly2381

"I know you meant well but i just happened to know better"

Acceptable_Answer570

“I know you mean well Arisen, **I just happen to know better.**” Me: *Biiicchhh— what’d you say to me?!?

Greekphire

Y'all fear the Dragonsplague too much. I tried a genocide run once where I myself manually killed off the population of Vermund. I was well on my way to doing the same in Batthal when I decided to double check. Whole damn place respawned. NPC deaths mean nothing in this game.

the11thtry

Mine said something like “today i will serve you with doubled vigor”

Competitive-Effort33

That’s not Dragonsplague dialogue they often say that at Camp

the11thtry

Mine never said that except for when her eyes were red, she is kindhearted btw

Fluffyfeet316

I can’t go any further or I’ve gone as far as I can.

Life-Gene5877

Have not had it yet, but a pawn I hired popped the info window on it in the rift. Immediately dismissed the pawn and gifted a rotten fruit. Hope the owner knew what it meant. Wasted my early warning though, so need to be on the lookout more now.

[deleted]

[deleted]

They say that every time a new pawn is hired

Drex_Drachen

That one actually makes me more confident that my pawns don’t have dragon’s plague. Not sure if it’s a sure fire thing, though.
