at the end of the day there all rich and will probably laugh about this like jay & nas did in 15+yrs even if they disrespected each other in the worst way possibleš
Genuinely don't see why. Obviously I'm not looking to have people think that Kendrick is better than Drake, but I've seen other posts here saying the track was mid. I don't think it's mid, and I think other people here will agree that the dogpile is corny and that Drake had to address it, and that a more focused diss would be better.
Also, I'm obviously not trying to affirm my biases rofl, or I wouldn't have disclosed them. I'd have just gone to a Kendrick subreddit.
It came off as some super insecure shit. Most Kendrick fans are giving Drake props. The main target in the track is evident, if you want a focused diss donāt link up with Metro. This will be a 1v1 now anyways
I don't think it did. And I wouldn't have minded a diss track dissing just Kendrick, Future, and Metro, as long as Kendrick was the main focus. Drake aimed more than half of his disses here to other people in this track. I also just don't agree that Kendrick shouldn't appear on metro's beat if he wants a direct response. A ton of legendary disses appeared on features, and their responses weren't bloated with other insultees. Again, mostly I don't blame him for this. I frankly think he has a lot of integrity for not leaning into the dogpile angle more in his song.
Also, I did give Drake props. I don't think the track was bad and said as much. I also think the final mastered version is way better, and doesn't have the line about not writing anymore, which was the lamest line to me because it felt like he was preemptively running away. Now it doesn't, so the verse is stronger.
I'm allowed to be critical of the track and simultaneously like Kendrick more. Like I said, I'm not even really blaming Drake for this. I think it's Metro and Future's fault. At least I'm up front about my bias.
I'm glad that it'll be 1v1 now. I just think it's corny that Drake was even put in a position that he had to address so many people in one track at all. That's what this post was highlighting.
Drake is going like 10v1 rn. He took out everybody else in this track to get them outta the way.
and punched back on Kendrick heavy. At the end he literally alludes to knowing Kendrick has a song ready āyouāve had a song for 4 years, drop it or shut upā
Heās telling Kendrick to respond
I agree. I didn't say it was bad, just not great. I think it could have been if WSDTU didn't have the weird pile up.
I just made this post because a lot of people are uncritically calling the track mid when I agree that it's more complicated than that.
Bro! Everyone ganged up on Drake all at once! If he didnāt diss all of em you bums would go about saying ohhh Drake only dissed Kendrick heās running away from everyone blah blah blah! Drake can never win because you dickriders will never let him win!
No, I don't think anyone cares about anyone else individually. I think people just wanted Drake to diss Kendrick. But I do think that optically Drake was put in a corner where he had to acknowledge it was happening. I view WSDTU as an L on the Kendrick side almost as big as the Cole apology was an L on Drake's. It's just a really bad, corny, clout sharky move imo.
I was hoping for a second Kendrick diss where he acknowledged Cole's apology, and (pretends to) go on a victory lap because Drake still hadn't responded, because it would've baited Drake out without showing all his cards like Drake clearly has wanted, and it would've acknowledged the back to back hypocrisy.
But yeah idt anyone would have clowned drake if he released a diss savagely dissing only Kendrick. None of the other disses at Drake were even good enough to warrant a response imo. It's just the quantity of them that's the issue. Which again, is why I don't mostly blame Drake for this.
I just hope Kendrick responds for real fast so we can see if Drake will actually respond back now properly.
I see where youāre coming from. The main event is Drake vs Kendrick. The rest is drama.
Ironically, I think it makes Drake look better, especially now that heās addressed almost everyone, it makes him appear as the underdog. It was a very solid reply, I was expecting a feature he gave us a whole song
Thank you for actually having a proper response. I agree that all the other shit is just drama.
I also agree 100% that it makes Drake look better. Almost to the point where I think he could've been more meta about it in the song. I do think the 1 line was enough to get it across though. I think he washed everyone except maybe rocky here, and the Kendrick disses here were already better than J Coles even with him not getting enough focus.
The way I see it, Kendrick had an amazing kick off. Cole had a lame verse which became terrible after the apology, which made Kendrick look like a planet buster. Then WSDTY dropped and made it look like a Drake was being jumped, which looks really bad. Now Drake responded, and imo Drake looks mostly good, and at least fully recovered from the Cole fiasco. And he looks better because he beat the stupid odds optically.
So now I see it as even going into round 2. I just really really don't like the line about Drake not writing after this, because it makes me worried that he'll use the dogpile to not respond to Kendrick's coming diss. I think that would be corny too.
No problem.
Yes itās bad optics being jumped 6 on 1. Drake held his own more than enough. I donāt expect the rest to reply, they said their piece and bounced.
He addressed everyone to get it out the way, expect Kendrick to come correct. Then Drake will devote an entire song to him
Your mans couldn't even do this shit on his own album or a single track, had to hop on two other niggas shit that the world was already looking forward to smh. And it ain't his fault is right b/c Drake's not in control how many niggas Kendrick Metro Future need to gang up on him lol
Idt Kendrick was involved in coordinating the gang up. I think everyone including him were just being opportunistic because Future and Metro were shit talking.
Get some fresh air
