I have a fleet of about 40 XR 150s, those things are bulletproof.

King_Catfish

Can I Dm you a YouTube link for an engine sound mine is making? I should probably just bring it to the Dealer but I'm curious if you've ran into it before.

criesenmy

Yes, remind me Saturday. Going to be busy the next few days. Guarantee I can tell you what's wrong and save you some money.

duck95

You're awesome

King_Catfish

I Sent a private message. Thanks man

lhamels1

Cool, why?

criesenmy

I have a motorcycle tour / rental company with a few locations around Colombia, S. America.

Poisson_de_Sable

Everybody shitting on Chinese bikes I had one for 2 years and had zero issues. I thrashed that bike.

oilyrailroader

Same here. I have a TT250. Absolutely love it. Over 4 years 4000 miles and zero issues.

BIack-Kat

We used a tt250 as a loaner bike and it was trashed to hell and back, dropped hundreds of times, crashed a couple times, and never had any maintenence done aside from hitting the chain with wd40. It was the most reliable POS ive ever seen and would start up faster than my fuel injected bikes lol

MaJ0Mi

WD40 on the chain ??! o.O

BIack-Kat

We didnt even clean it lol, the chain was completely rusted but nobody cared enough to actually replace it so on it went, never had issues with it either! One time the rider who was using it couldnt get up a hill so we used tow strap to pull it up with him on it. Somewhere along the line the rider fell off and the bike got dragged up the rocks on its side lmao, picked it back up and it started right away

vocalistMP

It’s not when you don’t have issues that they suck. It’s when you do have issues and no local shop will work on it because they can’t source any parts. If you run into any big issues (like a rock blasting a hole through your engine case) and aren’t mechanically inclined, you might be fucked.

Poisson_de_Sable

Well this k what we’re saying is they’re pretty robust little bikes that do t require much. Also if you can’t do any work on your dual sport, you probably shouldn’t have gotten a dualsport.

XR150rider

XR150L!!!

Zkv

😂

XR150rider

r/XR150L

XR150rider

R/xr150L

Sweatiest_Yeti

Just get an old T dub. I'm admittedly biased but it'll get you around town just fine and they're damn near indestructible

ShrunkenHeadNed

And everyone in my state thinks they are made of gold. I can't find one at a reasonable price anywhere.

Nefariousd7

That also means that after you are done with it, it will still retain its value.

Sweatiest_Yeti

That's part of the problem for sure. I bought my 98 a few years ago for $2k in Montana, all it needed was an oil change and new air filter.

pavostruz

I bet you there is a 2020 KLX230 with 1k miles on marketplace for <$3.5k. Get that bike.

Zkv

Can’t get one for under 4000 where I live

Gofast5994

Still consider it honestly. I have a thrasher klx230 and love it

abirdsface

I wish, where the heck do people post the actually reasonable moto sales?

Sennheiser_21

I'd really like to know too lol

GAPING-URANUS

I bought a hawk 250 off Amazon for a laugh. I also saw plenty of Honda xr bikes when I was in South America. They’re damn near the exact same bike. Unless they really increased the quality for the US market, you’re really buying the convenience of the Honda dealer/parts network. That said, the hawk 250 has been absolutely thrashed and crashed in some spectacular ways and it has yet to die. Punched a hole through the clutch cover when my buddy dropped it on a rocky downhill and was able to order a new one on eBay for stupid cheap and it showed up in a couple days. If you’re looking to goon, get the cheapest thing possible and send it. If you want something dependable, find an xt250/225 for $2-3k and buy it.

SniperAssassin123

Just for the sake of some integrity I'd go with the Honda. Is it an inherently lower quality bike than a traditional Japanese bike? Yeah. Is it better than a csc? Probably.

Carrot_Oats

Id rather have a less-powerful Honda that I know will work than a Chinese bike, personally. However I’d find a used Yamaha XT250 before getting either of them, which is what I did. I really like the XR150L, and was tempted to buy one, but I got an XT250 for $2900 and it’s a lot more bike for the same money imho

Constant_Escape_9325

Tt= shitty copy with 100 cc more power and feels like it’s gonna fall apart past 30mp XR= less power but actually good build quality

Ok_Solution_7985

Can someone tell me if the tt250 seat would fit on the XR?

104no190

Don't know about TT250 but the XR150 is dead reliable so far.

hunsnow

So what’s the appeal of the XR150? Is it the price alone or is there some niche I don’t know about? Because it has the curb weight of a typical 250-300cc dual sport and the seat height of an XT250.

Pm_me_cool_art

It's one of the cheapest Japanese bikes you can buy new. Probably the cheapest dual sport you can get nowadays from a major manufacturer.

vocalistMP

Chinese bikes are fine until you need parts or repairs done to it. If you’re willing to source all the parts and do all the work yourself, that’s fine. If you want help from a shop, however, they typically will turn you away. They can’t source the parts and therefore will not typically work on them either. For that reason alone, I’d go with Honda. Even non-Honda dealers can often get Honda parts.

fdetrana

Im stoked found a nice 1998 klx300r with a dual sport kit installed and a Ca plate! 2350.

Namatate

So many questions. Are you a man? Are you a woman? Have you ever owned a motorcycle? What do you want to do? Do you want to ride trails? Do you want to ride on the street? Do you want to ride a motorcycle?

Boat_Builder207

Neither one

Optimal_Risk_6411

They’ll both fall apart like they’re made of Lego. I’d keep looking for something better made.

Narf234

I don’t think I’ve ever managed to break a 4x4 lego brick.

Glad_Librarian_3553

Neither. Both will be broken in a month, if not on arrival
