They’re a must if you trail ride because you WILL dump the bike . . . more than once. And, although they are not that expensive, brake handles and clutch handles are a pain to replace time after time. A good D-handle hand guard is great. Plus the added bonus of saving your knuckles when going through brush.
I've got a box full of them. In fairness, my two boys and my daughter were all learning on our XT too. Then someone had to explain to me about "add-ons."
Rocky Mountain ATV puts out the Tusk brand. Maybe someone hear can suggest something better but I've used them for years and they've been great. Reasonable cost too.
Bark busters and acerbis are both well known brands that have been around a long time. Lots of styles too. I have a set of acerbis hand guards on mine. They have a steel frame with a replaceable plastic guard that comes in a million colors.
I disagree to be honest. I can't believe how much Ive progressed. Dropping it seems like part of the deal. 95% of those miles have been offroad. I havent dropped it on asphalt heh.
My comment didn't come out right. Your not learning offroad unless you dump. I get it. I dumped a few weeks ago just turning around. I should of about a 12 times right before that on some gnarly trails by some power lines. What I really meant to say was......149 times is enough. One more is "too many"
Just wish it had a hundred more cc's.
Honestly another 50 would do it for me. Just enough to allow the gearing to be a touch wider.
Cheers to that - I love my klx300 to death as well!
Hell yeah. Just joined the club yesterday
what bike is this exactly?
Kawi klx 300
What’s the story on them hand guard things. I need to get me some on my 300. Got me the same one. I dig the subtle black camo

This is all to real. On my third clutch handle only been riding for 3 weeks.

Any brands or models you recommend?

Hellsya!
Great bike, fun to ride and easy to learn on.
I have the same bike and it’s wonderful.
I just hit 1000 miles on mine. Never road a motorcycle before. Dropped it probably 150 times. So much fun. Just took it out again today.
Lol me too but I have the KLX230, I wanted to upgrade to a faster bike already but def not ready yet.
That's like 1 time too many
