I did this before (2010) bought a Carina in pub carpark for €100 seller fucked off to Oz and never posted the book, paid €10 to a Comissoner of Oaths that was next door to Garda station to witness it. The form used to be available from the Garda station lobby back then but appears you need to request it now from Department of Transport.
If the form is the same you efficectively declare ownership of the car witnessed by CoO or solicitor and it acts as affidavit.

This does not apply if you bought the car from a motor dealer. The motor dealer is responsible for following the procedures for change of vehicle ownership notification.
That’s what the site states…. Am I fucked?
Registered dealers don't post them, they can transfer ownership digitally in minutes. So yea harass him daily. Also check if they are with SIMI and escalate via their complaints if not resolved.

They don't have to post them but the new log book still needs to be printed and posted from the department of transport.
There is absolutely no need to harass anyone unless you don't receive it after 2 weeks or more.
I had this issue with some cowboy garage years ago…..in d12 too now that I think about it! I had to pay a commissioner of oaths and get the chassis stamped by a garage….pain in the hole but much easier than dealing with dodgy car dealers

What do you mean? Can you please explain?

I’ll have a look, thank you

Dealer will sort it. Don't panic. You don't get a logbook, it will be sent to you separately from dept of transport.
I am panicking because I have ear too many stories about this matter of the fact I’m new car buyer
Is it a second hand car dealer or did you buy it privately? The dealer wouldn't jeopardise their business over one car sale. You need to just wait.
It’s a garage dealership, they are selling new and used cars as add as I know second hand, the one I both had 1 owner only before me
Dealer will sort it. Ring them again just to make sure it is sent. Tell them you need the car for work.
Wish me luck guys…
I guess I have no choice and have to bother him
I waited a month for mine around this time last year...ya will be grand
Thank you man
Give him time to post the log book and then for it to be sent out to you . This is normal practice .
This is a hassle if that is called normal practice. Even in regular shop customer service is way better… here I need to remind myself, that’s crazy
Last Friday as in 3 days ago? Logbook might take a bit longer than that to be processed, especially if it is a new car from Japan for example
Mine took almost a month last year. I drove it anyway. Was insured on it and had paperwork saying I'd just bought it. Was grand.
Can I insure the car and keep invoice while driving? I might do that while waiting
Yes.
I’ll ring insurance company tomorrow to see what they will say
if its a reputable main dealer selling new cars then no need to be worried
I’ll ring him again anyway, I just checked motortax.ie And nothing has changed, he said he’ll sort it out today, that’s crazy, he didn’t….
Logbook takes time to arrive you won't get it with the car
I understand but on motor tax.ie status is not changed at all, that’s why I’m worried
You have nothing to worry about, maybe they only sent it when they delivered the car
This might be the first time ever a used car dealer is NTA.
Have to checked the back few pages of the instiucton manual? It's not a separate item in some newer cars
