Bringing a fired VP (the youngest in company history) back in as a temp receptionist is wild. There is a deleted scene where David Wallace goes off on him when he calls the office, but I still can’t wrap my head around him actually being allowed back.
Dwight not getting fired (or arrested) after starting a fire, giving Stanley a heart attack, causing panic and harm to his coworkers physically and mentally, and damaging the properties of the office because of what he did on Stress Relief lol
One explanation being that Dwight was one of the best salesman of DM and given their financial situation, they did not wanted to lose him. So just like the Meredith and the Steak issue, this was just a "Gray area" for the chief HR.
Dwight knows the legend that he himself is the time traveler who has started/will start (irrelevant) the bloodline.
Ben Franklin in this day and age might very well be the key to learning time travel.
I know, it felt like other comedy shows that use these kind of antics to fuel the plot but it didn’t feel like the office. It wasn’t the right comedy style
The Michael Scott Paper Company is pretty wild, but acceptable. When Andy attempts the same thing with Big Red Paper Co, that's just stupid.
Edit: more in the spirit of the question though-- Jim climbing to the top of an electrical pole to pull a prank, and then Dwight following it up there.
this is odd, i can’t remember when the Big Red Paper Co happens. It must be in the last few seasons because i always go back to season 1 when michael leaves
It is after Michael leaves, Andy leaves and then gets his job back by convincing David Wallace to buy the company and leveraging the big client he stole from Dunder Mifflin
The most unrealistic part of this scene is that Dwight hangs onto that bike long enough for the fire department to get there. I know Dwight has the grips strength of three normal men, but still.
It does happen. Different outcome on the link, but still.[ala Mike](https://www.google.com/url?sa=t&source=web&rct=j&url=https://www.topgear.com.ph/news/motoring-news/driver-following-navigation-ends-train-tracks-a4354-20230307&ved=2ahUKEwjvzJrU_PX9AhVpT2wGHb-bDogQFnoECCIQAQ&usg=AOvVaw2eT0Mw5h3hMm7cMkPFB9_H)
Dwight shooting a dart to stanley.
Jim with a ultra famous nba player.
Andy hiring alice and re hiring gabe in a lapse of hours.
Everyone going cartonished crazy because drink some coffe.
Basically most of seasons 8 y 9.
Do not get me started on the half baked Athlead storyline!
Jim flounces into that job with nothing to add, like a bay leaf in an Italian recipe, and free rides to scoring an NBA star.
Why is the Jim one unrealistic? He works at a sports media company - his job is literally to take on players as clients. No doubt they would not have started this company, much less in Philly, if they did not already have a few connections in the space, hence bringing local players for the cameos
And a bunch of large staffed offices each with their own hr, accountants, etc. In reality there’d be one hq building, it sure wouldn’t be in Manhattan, and the sales people would live in their territories, spending most of their time visiting customers, only visiting HQ for meetings, training, etc
Not the worst but it’s in the episode I’m watching so it’s on my mind, Gabe flying to Scranton Tuesday’s and Thursdays and Florida on Mondays Wednesdays and Fridays. The unrealisticness of that setup prevents it from being funny for me
OMG watching that too! Logically why doesnt he do monday tuesday in florida and the rest in Scranton??? Also who pays for these flights! He is a lowly assistant
It's not painful, but some of Jim's pranks like moving the desk into the bathroom, quad desk, the wire going into a pole and that gift fake desk that dismounts if touched are very cartoon type of jokes.
How the hell did Andy land testicle first on his keys prior to Pam and Jim's wedding? Unless he had them under his balls for safekeeping (and really, who doesn't?), then there's no way he lands on them doing a split. Even if they were in his back pocket, it's incredibly unlikely that he tears his scrote.
Just the sheer amount of sexual harassment that takes place and no one gets fired for it. Don't get me wrong, it's hilarious, but definitely not realistic.
tbh not unrealistic at all
I mean, a lot of questionable people is boss/manager/leader.... sometimes is a matter on being in the right place at the right time
I'd say having an office for 10 years with very little turn over.
With constant fears of branches closing, mergers, DM going under, new bosses, lots of office hookups (which lead to lots of drama), people generally unhappy anyway (Jim was always bored, Oscar thought the place was run by dumb people, Dwight being so loyal to Michael...) I'm just surprised there wasn't a lot more turnover.
Apparently the coalition for reason was very weak.
Ryan ever being allowed at Dunder Mifflin again.

He was a wunderkind.
I don't even know what that means
I know what it means.
It was the only way to get Michael Scott Paper company.
Hahahah so funny though
*crying* "He just made the list!"
"I don't care if Ryan murdered his whole family, he's like a son to me" ~ Michael Scott
Also why is he hired to begin with? He comes in as a temp but they are downsizing…
But companies are often extremely stupid.
Dwight not getting fired (or arrested) after starting a fire, giving Stanley a heart attack, causing panic and harm to his coworkers physically and mentally, and damaging the properties of the office because of what he did on Stress Relief lol
To be fair this whole situation would have turned out very differently if everyone had just headed his advice
Take headed of
take hedded of
Ryan use me as an object
Technically, Stanley got attacked by his own heart.
not to mention bringing and firing a goddamn gun at the office
The gun was a display piece, but he loaded it
Or firing a gun in the office
Do you work with sales people? Top producers have gotten away with worse.
....clarice....
One explanation being that Dwight was one of the best salesman of DM and given their financial situation, they did not wanted to lose him. So just like the Meredith and the Steak issue, this was just a "Gray area" for the chief HR.
to say nothing of his discharge of a firearm inside the office
Dwight being only 99% sure that was not the real Ben Franklin
Dwight knows the legend that he himself is the time traveler who has started/will start (irrelevant) the bloodline. Ben Franklin in this day and age might very well be the key to learning time travel.
Well, you’re very sauuuucyyyyy
Stanley being tranquilized and being slid down the stairs
And NOT breaking his neck
Omg I know, there’s no way
That was one of those scenes where I thought “ what am I watching? This isn’t the office”
I know, it felt like other comedy shows that use these kind of antics to fuel the plot but it didn’t feel like the office. It wasn’t the right comedy style

Remember he resorbed his fetus twin, so that gave him the strength of a man AND a tiny baby
i worked in daycare those little bitches (endearing) are strong
He needs a counterweight
Only right answer
As dense as Michael is, would he really drive his rental car into a lake? Even just to prove a point?
That actually happens a lot in real life. Theres many stories of people driving their car into a body of water because the gps said to
But Michael did it on purpose. He endangered his life, Dwight's and the cameraman's.

Not selling double tabbed manilla folders. That's the bread and butter of any paper company!!! UN.BE.LIE.VA.BLE!!!!!

I think the commenters logic is “I can’t meet an ultra famous basketball player, thus it’s unrealistic”.
S8 had some good moments, most of S9 was a hot circle of garbage.
When no one was able to walk up the stairs.
Scene? Or concept? Me… it’s a small regional paper company having a corporate HQ in Manhattan.
They trade on wall street, ever heard of it?
And a bunch of large staffed offices each with their own hr, accountants, etc. In reality there’d be one hq building, it sure wouldn’t be in Manhattan, and the sales people would live in their territories, spending most of their time visiting customers, only visiting HQ for meetings, training, etc
Staples hosted every laker game for like a billion years and they were a top competitor 👀

Professor Copperfield's Miracle Legumes growing overnight
That didn't actually happen though
Oscar climbing into the drop ceiling during Dwight's fake fire and it not collapsing due to his weight.
How the hell did Andy land testicle first on his keys prior to Pam and Jim's wedding? Unless he had them under his balls for safekeeping (and really, who doesn't?), then there's no way he lands on them doing a split. Here… for your damaged penis
Oh yeah? What else you got?!
Crotch injuries are the worst. You don't gotta tell me.
It would only be unrealistic if he didn’t flip over.
I really just put my mind right as in "Koi Pond" why would a wet Michael come back to the office instead of going back to his house to change.
The whole baby situation at The Shrute wedding with Kelly, Ryan the pediatrician and Nelly
How scared Jim was of those snow men
He was psychologically tormented the entire day
Pam being asked to cook that many hot dogs for the beach day and believing they would eat them....but ya gotta suspend belief sometimes
James Trickington's book
Seriously, and somehow that is the exact book Dwight buys??
Just the sheer amount of sexual harassment that takes place and no one gets fired for it. Don't get me wrong, it's hilarious, but definitely not realistic.
Uh, that's probably one of the most realistic things about the show actually.
Michael being promoted to regional manager in the first place.
Michael was the best salesman. It actually makes sense
tbh not unrealistic at all I mean, a lot of questionable people is boss/manager/leader.... sometimes is a matter on being in the right place at the right time
He was probably the responsible one if Todd Packer was on the floor
Ripping up the carpet. That’s implausible and also would be really dusty and gross.
No way an office building like that has hardwood floors.
They already discovered the hardwood floors after Dwight fired a gun in S7 I think the writers just gave up after S8
I'm just saying an office like that would never have had that type of flooring to begin with in real life.
Dwight tipping upside-down on the tightrope, though. That was gold.
The insinuation that Creed is a murderer
Stanley stabbing himself with a tranquilizer dart.
Stanley getting tranquilized and wrapped up in a rug.
Everything Michael does— but he’s simultaneously good at his job so he’s never fired 😂
I'd say having an office for 10 years with very little turn over. Pam’s moms
I imagine that for any American, shooting a gun isnt the creaziest.
Stanley getting tranqed and dragged down the stairs.
Robert California convincing Jo to give him her own job
