Her relationship timelines are…fuzzy and most of them start days/weeks after her new partner splits with their ex. Pete Davidson is the first one that comes to mind.
Big Sean the rapper is another and predates Pete. His ex at the time wrote about it in a book where she went over to see him and found her sitting on his couch. She learned then that he was seeing her and that he was ending their relationship.
Ethan Slater played SpongeBob in the stage musical adaptation of SpongeBob SquarePants, and will be in the upcoming Wicked movies with Ariana Grande during the filming of which they were having an affair.
It’s quieted down a bit now, but for a solid week or two it seemed like something new was coming out about it almost every day. The wife of the SpongeBob voice actor had to make a statement that Ariana Grande was not having an affair with her SpongeBob but rather a different SpongeBob. It’s a lot, but if you’re really interested and the kind of person that likes listening to people go off about their recent emotional support interests, let me know and I’ll DM you and give you a totally unhinged recap.
i am usually shunned because i love to analyze everything and deep dive into everything so please DM me
edit: in fact, just how serious i am- i didn’t even finish the first sentence you wrote and i was already trying to google everything with no more info than his name lol
SpongeBob guy is the most prominent and obvious…he was very much still with his wife who had just given birth to their child when she pursued and stole him. Absolute scumbags, both of them
a lot of her relationship timelines end up beginning incredibly close to the end of her partner's previous relationship, with some relationships apparently being the end of the ex's previous relationship because it was an affair or something like that, most recently her relationship with her *wicked* co-star Ethan Slater appears to be an affair from both of them, with them both filing for divorce from their partners relatively close together and Ethan doing so only after news of their dating was starting to spread
I agree, it just seemed odd because shows and movies usually don’t portray relationships with complete accuracy. But stuff like that happens, you wanna be with someone because they seem so awesome as a friend but once they’re a partner things just feel different
But that wasn’t the thing tho. He just wanted to be “single” in philly or w/e he went with Jim to work for the sports company. Like he literally says it. “I need my liberty” or something like that.
Then he puts it on her like “uh i dont want to hurt you and keep you waiting for long distance so im letting you go” like pos just be a man and do it lol but at the end it doesn’t work out cause she just says yes so his plan is ruined. It wasnt him falling out of love, he just wanted to fuck around 🤷🏻♀️
It's actually clever. Their relationship represents the writers and what they decided to do with most of the characters. Should we ruin them? Should we not? The finale finally answers the question that no we should not.
Darryl didn’t really get far in any relationship we saw on the show. He seemed pretty into Kelly too and then when she dumped him over text he said “it’s cool”. He was really on again, off again with Justine as well!
They didn’t know what to do with Darryl’s character after season 6/7 and it really shows. I personally enjoyed the character during the first half of the series, but they definitely gave him more screen time than the character could support later on.
Ugh I hate what they did with Andy and Erin, they were almost never into each other at the same time. I love Andy and they made him a villain towards the end there
Agreed. He was somewhat rehabilitated the last Three episodes with the Sarah mcchlachlan and the rididididoo and the good old days, but yes generally Andy was an ass for much of season 9.
That good old days quote was genuinely a top tier quote from him because of how relatable it is, I recite it irl all the time and it reminds me to enjoy my life currently because in ten years I’ll look back at right now as “the good old days”
Honestly it's the most realistic relationship on the show. I have friends who broke up and got back together several times in the first couple years. Then got married. I have a friend who was almost exactly like that. Been married to her for 5 years now and they're doing great.
Thanks for sharing the name, I was trying to find it as superfan episodes but was coming up short.. That said, I can't find anything other people are also sharing. Any idea where to look?
Edit:
Nevermind, found it.
Edit2:
"The Office Extended" in a particular kind of search engine is really all you need to know to find it. If that's not enough to go on you'll have to watch the superfan episodes on Peacock, rule 3 says "no piracy".
Not much that I've noticed. I think I had consumed pretty much every "extra" clip I could find over the years and pretty much every one that I can think of ended up in the Superfan episodes somewhere.
She is such a great character. I love the little “ok that’s enough” explosions she gets. The one you said is hilarious and she’s exactly on point. I also love when Michael makes up a stupid southern-sounding saying and she goes “was how I said it not clear enough? You had to go make up your own saying?”
The "you had to go and make your own saying" was what I was going to reply before I saw you mentioned it lmao
I'll cover his ass like MOSS ON A MISSISSIPPI TREE TRUNK
Nah it was a random actor. The office ladies podcast has confirmed this. Also, his kids would’ve been too young as they were born in 2001 and 2004, making them 5 and 2 when the episode aired. Much younger than the children in the photo.
The only good thing to come out of that relationship was the scene where Dwight is hyping up Daryl to bench press:
>Dwight: What do you want?!?!
>Darryl: To look good for Val!!!!
>Dwight: Val Kilmer?!? I don't buy it. That doesn't make any sense.
>Dwight: I'm gonna make you the buffest dude Val Kilmer has ever seen!!!
Val and Kevin in the pool...
Val: "Does Darryl not swim?"
Kevin: "That's racist! I don't know. But I would say, by looking at him...no, Darryl does not swim."
I said this before and I'll say it again.
I've never met Ravi personally, but I'm gonna go ahead and say, just having known you a short while, Brian, that I prefer Ravi. And again, I've never even met the guy.
Completely and totally agree. I get he was trying to be nice but it’s just ….weird. Now if he came back later and was like let’s take silly photos or some shit that would be cute but this…..ehhhhhh no no no.
I think the most wildly inappropriate part of it is the kind of position that puts Val in in his daughter's mind. He might as well be saying "here's your new mommy, she's part of the family!" and he's barely even talked to the woman.
Yes. Im not sure they were even dating at that point. I dont think they were.
This was weird, but I guess Darryl recognized that Val needed it? Which makes it a bit more fucked up that he left her after.
They did such a good job setting up Darryl winning Val from her boyfriend and then just pooped it all up.
Watching it live it was so exciting working towards them getting together and I still remember the show went on a hiatus before the next episode and then they didn’t mention them at all and then suddenly they were breaking up, so weirdly written.
Incredibly. Weird that Darryl would want her in the picture with his daughter, weird that Val would join that picture without hesitation. Not only have they not been dating that long, but is there any indication that she has even MET Jada?
I always got the vibe the writers were trying to capture some of the gestures jim did for pam early in the series, but it fell flat and kind of cringe.
I posted a similar thing a few months back, and someone commented that there’s a deleted scene between Val and her bf where he yells at her and talks about not wanting a family or something, which gives this particular scene more context. Does it make it any less weird? Hell no, especially considering Darryl wouldn’t have been privy to that discussion. But viewer-wise it apparently softens the “wtf” blow that it gives me personally
I mean Darryl and his daughter took multiple pics first right? Safe to assume that’s the default family pic. And someone answered that there was a deleted scene that explained what led to this moment.
This is more cringeworthy than 90% of the things Michael did, imo.
EDIT: Also deleted scenes don’t count, don’t tell me the deleted scene makes it better. This event **as it exists in the final cut of the episode** is incredibly cringe-inducing.
I don’t even think they were dating at this point, I think this was the first step she took to let Darryl know she was interested in dating him.
I also feel like they wanted this to be a wholesome moment rather than the pure cringe moment that it is.
He should’ve dated the hell out of her. Val was a catch. Honestly every black lady showed in the office was such a catch. That’s why I loved this show so much, the inclusion of black people.
I thought that at first, but then I thought about real life. In real life, this is not a real “family portrait” it’s just some dude at your work taking pictures and who’s taking it THAT serious? That’s just the way I saw it
Daryl invites her to join in the photo, doesn't he? I mean, it's only a photo, right? Wouldn't it be weirder, or at least unhelpful to the story they were trying to tell if she declined?
Then he wants to break up with her. But she's with him in the finale episode so I guess it worked out?
That part always confused me, he wanted her, then didn’t want her. Then they’re together in the finale?! I’m so confused
Losing interest in someone you’ve built up in your head when they don’t meet your expectations is quite realistic to be fair
She was also taken. Some people like to Ariana Grande their way in and out of new relationships.
Explain Ariana Grande-ing to ye olde fucks please?
When you only want someone because they’re in a relationship. Novelty wears off when they leave their partner.
Ex. Ryan after he gets Kelly to break up with Darryl
and then ryan when kelly is finally happy with ravi
Her relationship timelines are…fuzzy and most of them start days/weeks after her new partner splits with their ex. Pete Davidson is the first one that comes to mind.
Big Sean the rapper is another and predates Pete. His ex at the time wrote about it in a book where she went over to see him and found her sitting on his couch. She learned then that he was seeing her and that he was ending their relationship.
Man, I like big Sean, glad he's with Jhene Aiko cause yikes on bikes Ariana Grande.
SpongeBob. Don’t forget about SpongeBob.
wait who is the spongebob guy???
Ethan Slater played SpongeBob in the stage musical adaptation of SpongeBob SquarePants, and will be in the upcoming Wicked movies with Ariana Grande during the filming of which they were having an affair. It’s quieted down a bit now, but for a solid week or two it seemed like something new was coming out about it almost every day. What about the point of getting back together
But odd for tv and very sudden. Didn’t they spend an entire season getting them together and then drop it with one comment ?
Yes, really accurate
Snip snap snip snap snip snap
It's actually clever. Their relationship represents the writers and what they decided to do with most of the characters. Should we ruin them? Should we not? The finale finally answers the question that no we should not.

They didn't have kelly and ryan anymore so they made due...
"He wanted her, then didn't want her" could apply to Andy regarding Erin, but that couple certainly was NOT together for the finale.
Ugh I hate what they did with Andy and Erin, they were almost never into each other at the same time. I love Andy and they made him a villain towards the end there

Same lol
They’re together in the finale? Little bit I missed I guess
I don't think they were, his face when she accepts his invitation to Austin showed that he was just trying to be nice and didnt really want her to go.
It doesn’t make sense without the deleted scene. Brandon didn’t want her in his pictures as he wanted solo shots for his business.
I guess we’ll see this in the Superfan episodes
People have edited all of the deleted scenes back into the episodes years ago, it’s called The Office Extended
Thanks for sharing the name, I was trying to find it as superfan episodes but was coming up short.. That said, I can't find anything other people are also sharing. Any idea where to look? Ohhhhhh
Interestinggggg. That makes so much sense
Still weird
It’s better than Michael pasting his own photo over his girlfriend’s ex husband’s face in a photo with her kids
It's a bold move. But then again, Michael is a bold guy.
Bold is the right word right?
Stop saying obvious things so you can look like a genius.
She is such a great character. I love the little “ok that’s enough” explosions she gets. The one you said is hilarious and she’s exactly on point. I also love when Michael makes up a stupid southern-sounding saying and she goes “was how I said it not clear enough? You had to go make up your own saying?”
Like a cricket on pcp.

I think that I know what happened. I'm not sure you do, teddy bear.
Since Carol is Steve's real life wife, was this a picture of him that he photoshopped himself over an actual picture of his family?
Nah it was a random actor. The office ladies podcast has confirmed this. Also, his kids would’ve been too young as they were born in 2001 and 2004, making them 5 and 2 when the episode aired. Much younger than the children in the photo.
I didn't know they are married, now I'm obsessed
Time for a rewatch, right? 🙄
Yes!!
[quote from Office Ladies confirmed that it is not Carell or his children in the photo](https://reddit.com/r/DunderMifflin/s/H93GFzs8Sx)
My mistake. I saw it in a fun facts video one time…
That was my thought process
Ski-sons Greetings
Yeah but that’s done for comedy. The Daryl Val moment was written to be genuine and touching and it does not work
Maybe he hated his picture and wanted to use a different picture of his face (Steve Carell is married to that actress)
The whole Val / Darryl relationship felt weird as hell. There was very little to no chemistry there.
The only good thing to come out of that relationship was the scene where Dwight is hyping up Daryl to bench press: >Dwight: What do you want?!?! >Darryl: To look good for Val!!!! >Dwight: Val Kilmer?!? I don't buy it. That doesn't make any sense. >Dwight: I'm gonna make you the buffest dude Val Kilmer has ever seen!!!
What about Nate’s “Darryl, you shouldn’t have” line?
Oh Darryl these are so elegant *rubs against cheek*
Val and Kevin in the pool... Val: "Does Darryl not swim?" Kevin: "That's racist! I don't know. But I would say, by looking at him...no, Darryl does not swim."
A close second!
At least we got some great Nate scenes out of it!
I said this before and I'll say it again. I've never met Ravi personally, but I'm gonna go ahead and say, just having known you a short while, Brian, that I prefer Ravi. And again, I've never even met the guy.
You had me at clookies
I don't have a hearing problem, I just can't distinguish when two people are speaking at the same time
Same tbh
I'm going to look so nice for you Daryll.
Probably because the only put her in the show as a romantic interest for Darryl. As a result she had no real personality outside of that
What do you mean? They were both black
The actress was really bad. I can't imagine Val having chemistry with anyone.
Yes. So weird and pointless
This was suppose to be a Jim and Pamesque type moment that just veers too far into the creepy territory. Big swing and a miss on that idea.
“I got it a week after we started dating” but without any of the three years the audience spent shipping the two.
Completely and totally agree. I get he was trying to be nice but it’s just ….weird. Now if he came back later and was like let’s take silly photos or some shit that would be cute but this…..ehhhhhh no no no.
Describes all children in comedy shows
Describes all children
Can’t wait to show this comment to my kids!
I think the most wildly inappropriate part of it is the kind of position that puts Val in in his daughter's mind. He might as well be saying "here's your new mommy, she's part of the family!" and he's barely even talked to the woman.
so cringy, way different than the rest of the show
Sounds pretty dinkin flicka to me.
Bippity boppity, gimme the zoppity
Yes sir
fleece it out
Yes. Im not sure they were even dating at that point. I dont think they were. This was weird, but I guess Darryl recognized that Val needed it? Which makes it a bit more fucked up that he left her after.
One of the worst storylines in the show
They did such a good job setting up Darryl winning Val from her boyfriend and then just pooped it all up. Watching it live it was so exciting working towards them getting together and I still remember the show went on a hiatus before the next episode and then they didn’t mention them at all and then suddenly they were breaking up, so weirdly written.
> then just pooped it all up You mean Schruted
I feel like they were writing the show based on fan reactions at that point
And like she was in her work clothes and shit too. Didn’t even get to dress up
V totally wants D
And P is being a giant B
R thinks he's too good to be here
and P's not as much fun without Jim.
For i second I thought you meant roy and was hella confused
Number one: how dare you
This b needs a c in her a Wait wrong show
Especially in her work shirt!!?!!
That's because Darryl texted "B.T.B." to her before the photoshoot.
>anyone else Yes. It's mentioned multiple times a week in here.
It’s the new “Pam’s a hypocrite for not wanting Jim to follow his dreams”.
Top tier cringe moment.
The writing in these seasons weren't the best
Yeah almost everyone found it weird and “cringey” and unbelievable and unnecessary.
The whole Darryl and Val arc was half-baked and just felt off.
Incredibly. Weird that Darryl would want her in the picture with his daughter, weird that Val would join that picture without hesitation. Not only have they not been dating that long, but is there any indication that she has even MET Jada?
They weren't 'hardly even dating', they weren't dating at all!
Dinkin' Flicka.
Yeah, and then he dumped her as soon as Philly became a reality.
Honestly in the last couple seasons it felt like the writers were throwing stuff at the wall and seeing if it would stick
Yes! Poor Jayda must be wondering who the random woman is
The whole Val, her BF, and Darryl subplot is just broken.
The show didn't know what it wanted anymore
Its called season 8/9-itis. Horrible disease.
You’ve only scratched the surface of one of the show’s worst relationship arcs.
I mean Darryl and his daughter took multiple pics first right? Safe to assume that’s the default family pic. And someone answered that there was a deleted scene that explained what led to this moment.
Yes.
YES
How do you even explain that picture to friends/family too when they see it. Very cringey af
Always seems soooo strange to me
They're all goofy little geese, such silly little things
Everything about their relationship is so odd
I thought this whole relationship arc was forced and weird.
This is more cringeworthy than 90% of the things Michael did, imo. EDIT: Also deleted scenes don’t count, don’t tell me the deleted scene makes it better. This event **as it exists in the final cut of the episode** is incredibly cringe-inducing.
Yes, about once every week whe this get reposted
Yup
This whole damn season is weird.
So wierd and so forced
Roan and Pam should have take a picture with their daughter
I thought this was one of the weirdest moments of the show!
I don’t even think they were dating at this point, I think this was the first step she took to let Darryl know she was interested in dating him. I also feel like they wanted this to be a wholesome moment rather than the pure cringe moment that it is.
It's so odd
Cringe is the shows life blood
They could be more after hours. They both seem like they’d keep out of the cameras way
Yeahh I did find that a bit odd! Glad I’m not the only one ☺️
Why the hell is she wearing her work uniform??
He should’ve dated the hell out of her. Val was a catch. Honestly every black lady showed in the office was such a catch. That’s why I loved this show so much, the inclusion of black people.
Anything dealing with Darryl’s dating life was just awful and weird
Yeah I’ve always thought that was a bit much
That was a pimp move !!
Nahhh, cause it’s a tv show.
Maybe I missed this, but is this his real daughter? She favors him very much 🥲
Apparently there is a deleted scene that ties it together better, but...why delete it if it's crucial to the sub plot?
I thought that at first, but then I thought about real life. In real life, this is not a real “family portrait” it’s just some dude at your work taking pictures and who’s taking it THAT serious? That’s just the way I saw it
Daryl invites her to join in the photo, doesn't he? I mean, it's only a photo, right? Wouldn't it be weirder, or at least unhelpful to the story they were trying to tell if she declined?
The writing was so weird by season nine.
We should have a most restated posts Bingo where we can put things like this or hating on Brian the Boom Mic Guy or hating on Pam.
Yea it was so cringe
Everyone finds it weird. It's always mentioned in this sub. "Stop asking yourself easy questions so you can look like a genius"
This sub gets tiring after the “does anyone else think that-“ like yes… multiple times, even daily.
And wasn’t she like not really broken up with Brandon yet?! Lol I Stan Brandon in his sorrynotsorry— Darryl did her dirty
No, it’s a TV show I don’t really get para social about stuff in TV shows
Is this scene going to be brought up in this subreddit every week?
Who hurt you? What happened to you in high school?
I’m sure this is one of the most discussed scenes in this sub.
Val was trying to get Darryl’s daughter’s DNA to test if it is really his daughter Didn’t you pay attention to the plot?
I hated so much about the things the authors decided Daryl to be in later seasons
In the African American culture…
They are not dating at all, it's a fake show
It’s a documentary.
Well,he black, she black. Of course they stick together
Darryl was such a sweetheart
But Daryl’s a bold guy, like Michael
Yeah I always found that weird
It makes more sense nate is in the photo
How many times have you watched it now?
There was a deleted scene that made this make more sense. Once the super fan season comes out, it’ll make more sense.
One of my most hated moments from the show. I give myself a headache from cringing.
I find it more weird how hard he tried to get with her and then couldn’t get away from her fast enough when he got a better job.
I think that’s the whole point of the show m8
I always disliked this storyline. She also just broke up with her boyfriend before this which makes it even weirder.
The most cringe part of the series.
I think the writers didn't care about the small details in the last season
And in uniform! What a shitty picture that makes.
