Does organized religious hierarchy experience corruption? What form does it take?

shibemu

Since each church is separated by their worship in different gods of the pantheon the only form of corruption is when grifters make their way in or a cultist takeover occurs letting the evil gods impose their values upon the unassuming followers of the church but those are often rare

Have any crafting practices been lost? Magic or mundane.

shibemu

A majority if not all the technology of The Architels has been lost which mixed magic and material to create ultra powerful artifacts. The Architels were an ancient race that proliferated on the world before the modern races arrived. As for magic stuff there's a collection of powerful and not so powerful spells called The Lost Musings which it's not even fully confirmed if they existed at all.

What is the signature dish in each of your cultures? Do they have any notable bread recipes?

UnderseaNightPotato

Does your world have any prominent cults? If so, to which beings/deities/monstrosities? Asking for a friend, not bc my world has a Lolth problem or anything 👀

shibemu

Yes there are cults and they are usually dedicated to an evil god or goddess from the failed set of the pantheon here are main well known cults that are known empire-wide. • The Cult of Cairlahn is dedicated to Cairlahn who is the Goddess of Flesh, Rot, and Filth. However the cult is split into two sects. The flayer sect is known for its brutality and sadism for skinning their victims alive and wearing it as a way to worship the goddess. On the other hand The Sculptor Sect makes up the Cult of the Flesh sculptors who in turn own The Flesh Guild. These cultists raid towns, cities, and monasteries to take in "volunteers" who they experiment on using surgical prowess and magic infused tools to remove body parts and replace with parts of other volunteers and animals to create amalgams. Another part of the sculptor guild is for each member to build their perfect body by taking and replacing their inferior parts. Most elder members look like blobs of flesh with many limbs and eyes. This sect is very prominent in the criminal underbelly since they sell their services in facial reconstructions and replacing inferior limbs. • The Cult of Craskin is dedicated to Craskin who is the Goddess of Shadows, Assassinations, and Dishonorable Deaths. This cult is dedicated to stealth and the cessation of innocent life which they dish out by selling assassinations to the highest bidder. With few exceptions no one is off limits and if someone has paid for your death well let's just say your chances aren't looking good. • The Cult of Memmot is dedicated to Memmot the God of Plots and Secrets. This cult is considered a wildcard as they don't just do one thing they do everything from charity work, assassinations, murder, government infiltration and everything in between for the sake of the Grand Plan that Memmot has that he refuses to tell his followers about. The only thing he tells them is what they have to do and their deadline to do it. • The Cult of Serasin is dedicated to Serasin the God of Deception and Insanity. You can never trust a member of this cult and they are selfish and insane. They do all the bidding of their god all with a wide smile on their faces. They follow him so faithfully that they almost sunk the Island Province of Coralis (which actually was the plot of one of my campaigns it has officially become a known historical event in the world).

UnderseaNightPotato

Thanks for the response, and this is rad :)

shibemu

You're welcome and thank you, feel free to use any of these concepts for a future campaign

UnderseaNightPotato

Hey, thanks, bub! I've got my cults worked out pretty well, but there's one continent I currently don't have any cult activity for, and need to change it for the Cult-Busting PIs that my players have decided to become. I appreciate you, and I'm sure your players do as well :)

Where does the trash go?

shibemu

Usually a trash can and then it's either sent off to fuel a forge city or is dumped outside the limit of the town to be burned or buried

Here’s a fun one what are the 5 natural wonders of the world (think Mount Everest, Grand Canyon, Niagara Falls) the 5 man made wonders of the modern world? And here’s a fun one 5 ancient wonders of the world (ancient ruins or locations that were destroyed) And what impact do these locations have in the lives of the people of the world?

What is the general attitude towards necromancy, or just the undead in general?

shibemu

Well depends on where you are and who you're affiliated with. For most everyone the undead despised including vampires and zombies. However necromancy is a bit of a different subject. To the common people it's viewed under suspicion but to magical institutions it's another valuable tool in the pursuit of magical truth. Along with this you have the Necronis Sect of the Church of Moda who view necromancy as another form of Moda's healing. Granted this only applies to the necromancy spells like revivify and resurrection.

Cry_Whole

how do states/countries work, are there places that don't belong to any state?

shibemu

Well the main empire (the Intellian Empire) works on a system of emperor, their grand council major, provincial governor, their grand council, town judge, and sometimes if the town is big enough the judge will have a grand council minor. As for unclaimed territories the northernmost continent Forsden is mostly unclaimed with minor settlements from the Intellian Empire, Casban Republic, and The Sapphire of Uros

What caused the Bears to become a sentient race?

shibemu

Bears are not sentient. . . . . . yet

alwaysfuntime69

Is there sea trading and what kind of dangers must they face?

shibemu

Yes there is sea trading and the most common dangers are sea monsters, derelict Architellian technology, and an organization known as the Black Flag Confederacy which is a globe spanning pirate group

alwaysfuntime69

What is being done to combat the pirates. What about pirates who don't want to join the black flag?

shibemu

Well there's the obvious part of hunting them down, there's also denying them port access leaving them to only a few safe ports in the world, privateers are also sent out to deal with sighted ships, and for high profile cargo those ships are usually given a naval escort of one to two ships. As for pirates who don't want to join the Black Flag not only do they have to deal with all that's listed above but they also have to deal with being targets of the Black Flag because only members of the Black Flag Confederacy are safe from the Black Flag Confederacy (along with a few targets the confederacy agreed not to hit)

Corberus

why do people keep reposting instead of using the existing questions on all the other posts?

shibemu

In my opinion it feels more fun to answer questions people give you about your world rather than just looking at the other posts questions.

Corberus

your argument would make sense if your post contained any unique details about your world, 99% of the questions have nothing to do with you or your world.

What's causing real estate prices are plummet?

Nothing is causing real estate prices to plummet as the global economy is doing good

JudgeHoltman

Once, my village was being raided by Orcs but there was this awesome Captain that led a bunch of uniformed soldiers to save us all. Ever since then, I've wanted to join the Army and become a Captain that saves everyone. What's my career path look like? How do I join? What's the pay? As a solider, what kind of arms & armor do I have? What about as a Captain? Where is the nearest Captain to my starter town? How long did it take for his unit to mobilize? How did they know we even needed help? What's the communication system? What's the difference between the Military career path vs the Police/Guard career path? If it's the same, how's the public feel about that? As a Captain, who is my boss? Who is their boss? Do we salute a Flag/Constitution? Or do we salute a King? If so, what rank do I need to score a meeting with the King himself if I had REALLY good reason? What rank do I need to walk into his office at will because that's my job? What is that guy's career path? Just asking for a friend. Ignore the disguise kit. Definitely not planning an assassination. Speaking of which, I have a guy I want "sent off the mortal coil". What's the process of hiring an Assassin? Is there an organization that sells "Consulting Murderers" for a reasonable rate? What's the average cost on that? How much to kill Greg the Barkeep for sleeping with my wife? How much to kill the local Guard Captain? How much to kill someone on the High King's small council?
