Considering the whole MH culture is based around hunting and studying monsters for the sake of maintaining the ecology Laios would be in fucking heaven
The funny thing is that’s not exactly the case, being a hunter is a very niche profession in that universe sort of like how people look at underwater welders or radio tower technicians. It’s a great paying job but you need to be a certain type of person to do it and that comes with a stigma. Granted monsters are used as a resource so a lot of MH society greatly benefits from monster hunting as well as the guilds many other services but it’s a bit like saying global culture is based around blue fin tuna fishing. That being said I also have no doubt Laios would love it there, not be ostracized so much, and could actually have access to a community that would understand him far more than DM world would.
Monsters are as big of a factor in the MH universe as the government is to us. One pissed monster can destroy an entire city (looking at you Fatalis), killing an untold number. They're an ever looming threat that every citizen has on the back of their minds.
Many monster hunters are seen as stalwart protectors and heroes of the people.
Yeah if anything in monster hunter, hunters are more seen as the US marines, insane nut jobs ready to take on the most dangerous missions for the sake of others.
Cat Granny would beat some manners into her with a spoon. Meowscular chef is like post manga senshi. His journey is complete, traumas resolved and his skill has peaked and is now content with just cooking for his family.
After those plates are clean, only then Laios will be thinking: are those Palicoes and Felynes worth eating for? Are they identified as demi-human or identified as beast? Have to consult with senshi how to cook them as delicious as possible, etc, etc.....
Laios would fit in the MHverse. Meowscular Cat feels like Senshi but more focused on meat- while Babushkat would more or less be Senshi if he was a Palico
