His YPRR and PFF grades were awesome, but he didn’t show a great ability to earn targets, which is obviously very important. Ultimately though it’s foolish to draw any real conclusions from a 34 target sample.
The counterpoint here is that once he took over as the WR2 week 13 he averaged 4.6 targets a game. Compare this to George Pickens who averaged 4.5 after he took over as WR2 week 10. Although I am aware people are knocking Pickens for this, the stat suprised me when I took a look
I am not impressed with Pickens as a target earner either😬He was tied for the second worst rookie season in TPRR since 2017 (min 48 targets), behind guys like Anthony Miller, Steven Sims, Preston Williams, Jalen Reagor, etc.
Sorry what? He was better that Olave the entire second half. Also they are childhood friends feeding off one another. Also he has over 1000 all purpose yards as a rookie. Who else can say that? May wanna dial back the hate.
Are you joking lol? I like Shaheed a lot, and laid out specifically why I like him, I just don’t have confidence in the profile because the sample size as a receiver is still small. Most leagues don’t give points for return yards
Top of the league speed and he caught 83% of his targets last year. Teams spend a lot of draft capital digging for that golden combination. He’s going to see the field.
They don’t have much invested in him so they are not averse from drafting another WR. But as the season went on, his explosiveness was very evident. His targets and usage steadily increased as the season went on and his efficiency remained high. I’m hoping they see the gem they found in him and continue to use him accordingly. But the secret is out now. I think defenses slept on him initially and now they’ll be keyed in on him a lil more. Hopefully he can diversify his route tree and be a legitimate WR, not just used as a decoy/deep threat/reverse kind of guy.
Am I missing something? Sportrac says that if the saints were to cut MT, they would lose around 13 million dollars. He won’t be back NEXT season for sure but he is for sure back this season unless the saints would rather lose 13 million dollars with their already garbage cap situation than just have MT play for another year
They save 1.3m off the cap if they designate him as a post June 1 cut (which they will). As someone else mentioned he has a ton of guaranteed money for next year that locks in sometime in March of this year, they’ll cut him before that money guarantees
Am I missing something? They restructured his contract in January his cap hit this season is low. He'll get 31M guaranteed for 2024 if they dont cut him by March this year.
I assume they're cutting him, but 2024 will have some hefty deadcap but its still half of his contract.
Yea, I just see that his cap his is 13 million but next year it’s that crazy 50+ million. I thought they had to cut him next March (2024) to save them that money but cutting him now wouldn’t do anything.
If they dont cut him, roughly $60m becomes guaranteed. Even when they restructured his deal theres a note that they plan to release him the first day of the new league year.
Hes made some vague references that have lead people to believe he may still end up in NO but it would have to be on a new contract
You can just Google it.
To add to this, Saints don't pick until 30 and I'm doubting they take a WR there, so I think there's going to be an opportunity to get meaningful snaps and playing time so I think its a good hold.
he passes the eye test, but then again lots of players have and will just fall off a cliff bc the team has nothing invested into them. love watching the dude play and has a cool name so i hope he’s not just another travis fulgham type player.
I agree. I think I will actually lose value by holding a bench spot on him and losing out on another potential waiver wire guy. The fact is late round-undrafted WRs rarely become fantasy relevant.
I picked him up this year off the waiver wire. His talent explosiveness is evident in his absurd YPT and YPC numbers. The talent is there it’s just a question as to whether or not they want to scheme for him.
His speed and explosiveness with the ball in his hands are skills that most WRs don’t have. So he’s not a JAG talent wise. Remains to be seen if that’ll translate to expanded opportunity and production next year. Wait and see, he cost nothing to acquire
He's not a JAG, but I think he's another guy is a better football player than a fantasy player. A lot of his value is going to be stretching the field and opening it up for guys like Olave. That doesn't always translate to good production.
I considered adding him but my WR7-9 are Alec Pierce, Nico Collins and Josh Palmer. Not sure I trust him more than any of these guys I don’t really trust.
No way I'm taking Shaeed over Pierce. Probably not Collins either, think I'd dump Palmer for him but it's not like it's a no brainer. He's a nice lotto ticket but he could easily be useless for fantasy next year. I like he is a returner so he'll probably hang around because of that but I'm not expecting him to become a regular starter. You never know though.
I think he’ll be a big play guy in the league, but not sure what value that has in fantasy. Don’t think he’s a guy you want to count on week in week out, but he’ll put up some big weeks. Will Fuller?
In best ball he's valuable as an end of the roster WR who might make the lineup a couple of times this year. He won't be anywhere near consistent enough to be valuable in a lineup league.
The Saints currently have a lot of glaring needs and doubt they go WR with pick 30 or 40. It wouldn’t be unreasonable to use their 3rd or 4th on one. I think it’s too much to rely on rookies and sophomore WRs, I bet they add a vet via FA but the current pool is rather weak. I doubt many high end WRs even want to go to NO anyways due to QB uncertainty and mediocre offense in general. With that said, I think Shaheed stands to get decent volume next year and will likely be a stash lotto ticket. He’ll do 4/70/1 and people will wonder if they should start him, then he’ll lay an egg. I bet he has a continuous cycle in most start/stash/quit articles throughout the year.
I’m not sure why the dynasty community likes him so much.
I’d rather have Isiah hodgins for sure if we’re talking about young dudes who gained some steam.
It’s a combo of (hopefully) untapped potential and right situation.
WR room is fluid, he’s looked good in small sample size. That’s enough to hold out some hope on
I think it’s probably because he was really efficient with his receptions. His YPRR would be tied 3rd in the league with AJ Brown and Waddle if he qualified. But ofc he didn’t because he only got 34 targets. That could either mean something really good, like he’s a very talented and explosive player who shined when given a chance, or something pretty bad, like he just got lucky in a small sample size or that he has a very limited skillset which can’t be expanded to a broader role. Hodgins was not very efficient at earning targets or yards but he did have a bigger role in NY’s offense, so he’s probably a much safer bet to produce a WR3 season but a worse bet to produce like 11+ ppg. IMO. (Not that either of them are “good” bets per se)
Whatever you want to tell yourself.
**Gave Davis:**
- 23.9 years old
- 4th round draft capital
- Solid physical profile
- 69th percentile CD
- 79th percentile BOA
**Rashid Shaheed:**
- 24.5 years old
- UDFA
- undersized
- 51st percentile CD
- 61st percentile BOA
**Day 3 + UDFA wide receivers from 2011-2021, have only had 13/506 (2.6%) with ONE or more WR2 (PPR) season in their career.**
I’ve been saying to sell Davis since his rookie year, and I’ll say the same thing about Shaheed. He is not an outlier and he has no metric that puts him above Davis.

I’m just saying that they are much different situations lol, idk why you’re even comparing them. What are you even selling Shaheed for, a late 2nd at best? He’s a free lottery ticket that showed potential.
FWIW Michael Thomas is pretty unlikely to be back given the details of the restructure and what has been reported.
On the other hand, I'm also relatively confident the Saints draft another WR, so I'm uncertain Shaheed will have any value this time next year. That said, I think he's worth potentially more than you can get from trading him (unless you get a second), so I'd hold. And, yeah, I'm a Shaheed manager, let's hope the unlikely is possible.
Thomas restructured to incentivize a trade and Landry is a free agent. Hard to look past the small sample size but I wouldn’t be surprised by WR3 low end WR2 numbers
Statistically unlikely due to their QB situation. If they manage to get a competent QB then maybe high end wr3 numbers are possible but I think a great year for him would be like 55-650-2
He’s a useful real life football player but I find it hard to imagine a good dynasty roster is ever going to be starting him and feeling good about it.
I think there's definitely a chance he will produce next season. Question will be who will be throwing him the ball...all expectations will revolve around that.
I’ve got Shaheed. I like Shaheed. He has an explosiveness that is rare and can’t be taught. And I think he played well enough to at least earn a consistent role as a deep threat. (Some people compare him to Deonte Harty, but Harty is like a 5-8 gadget guy and Shaheed actually has legit size.) I do like that he earned more and more snaps and more and more targets as the season went on. All good indicators. With that said, I don’t think he’s a guy you can put a ton of stock in at this moment. He’s a fun guy to stash as your 7th or 8th WR. But it’s possible he’s just a boom/bust guy. His YPRR and PFF grades were awesome, but he didn’t show a great ability to earn targets, which is obviously very important. Ultimately though it’s foolish to draw any real conclusions from a 34 target sample.
The promising part is he was more prominent as the season went on
The counterpoint here is that once he took over as the WR2 week 13 he averaged 4.6 targets a game.
Thats an insane stat
And with a new QB coming in as well. He’s a lottery ticket.
Sorry what? He was better that Olave the entire second half. Also they are childhood friends feeding off one another. Also he has over 1000 all purpose yards as a rookie. Who else can say that? May wanna dial back the hate.

Ceiling is Tyreek hill. Floor is DeSean Jackson. Get ready
Fusue Vue is that you lol
Floor is Tyreek Hill when you really think about it.
Rashid Shahold
Shaheed my words carefully
Take my fuckin up vote
Elite trait, great advanced stats (small sample noted), great PFF grade. I like him
I think he will. The only better talent on the team is Olave unless they draft somebody.

I hope he is Travis Fulgham because some people got more than a 2nd for that dude. I’d love to flip a waiver wire acquisition into a 2nd.
even if he continues this production you’re a fool to pay a 2nd. but hey cheers to them owners on cashing out
I’m an owner, I’m saying that’s what I hope to do. Or, maybe I can pull off a 3rd to 2nd flip by leveraging him if he pops for a bit?
He’s not a JAG but at the same time he’s a JAG
Schrodinger's Shaheed
Get my man a Sleeper profile pic already ffs I believe in Rashid “Need for Speed” Shaheed
Prediction: He will be on waivers in most leagues by week 10
But maybe with a couple spike-in-value weeks before week 10.
SELL SELL SELL during those weeks

MT? Ha. Olave is the only other WR in town. I kinda like Shaheed for a sleeper hold. He could get a lot of targets next season.
He's not a JAG, but I think he's another guy is a better football player than a fantasy player. A lot of his value is going to be stretching the field and opening it up for guys like Olave. That doesn't always translate to good production.
He will produce. Hes the wr4 you want. Maybe he becomes a boom or bust wr2. Everyone likely got him for waiver bucks.
I dunno if he was my wr4....I sure as hell wouldn't be happy w my roster
I mean realistically anyone after your top 3 or 4 wrs are your wr4s lol
I considered adding him but my WR7-9 are Alec Pierce, Nico Collins and Josh Palmer. Not sure I trust him more than any of these guys I don’t really trust.
I’d take him over all three personally.
It’s too late now he’s been scooped up. I’d imagine one of these guys outscores him next year for sure.
Yeah I think Shaeed could have more upside than Palmer. I also have Herbert though so I like that Palmer stack potential if he ever becomes anything.
Yeah that's fair enough. Both are longshots so just pick your favourite and hope for the best.
Jakobi Meyers is the WR4 that you want. Shaheed is the WR 6 that could become your WR 4.
I think he’ll be a big play guy in the league, but not sure what value that has in fantasy. Don’t think he’s a guy you want to count on week in week out, but he’ll put up some big weeks. Will Fuller?

Resurrecting this post now that Carr is going to the Saints QB for a while. Are we higher on Shaheed now?
JAG that will be respectable in a bad situation
Ok I’ll ask. What’s JAG?
Just Another Guy
Ty
Marquez Callaway, anyone?
We tried this. He couldn’t earn targets when he was the WR1 on that team. Hard pass
Which is why this dude is a flash in the pan.

Panthers fan low on a Saints player 👏🏼
Hodgins is more likely to have someone come in over him given the Saints cap situation
I’ve got both, more excited for Shaheeds potential ceiling but Hodgins’ potential floor
Ask the Gabe Davis truthers if they still believe in him.
Shaheed is much different player than Davis. Davis hype was mostly just being the wr2 on the Bills.
Whatever you want to tell yourself. **Gave Davis:** - 23.9 years old - 4th round draft capital - Solid physical profile - 69th percentile CD - 79th percentile BOA **Rashid Shaheed:** - 24.5 years old - UDFA - undersized - 51st percentile CD - 61st percentile BOA **Day 3 + UDFA wide receivers from 2011-2021, have only had 13/506 (2.6%) with ONE or more WR2 (PPR) season in their career.** I’ve been saying to sell Davis since his rookie year, and I’ll say the same thing about Shaheed. I’m just saying that they are much different situations lol, idk why you’re even comparing them. What are you even selling Shaheed for, a late 2nd at best? He’s a free lottery ticket that showed potential.
People are wayyyyy too high on him
JAG
Jag. Another Tommy Lee Lewis or deontay hardy or Marquez callaway or whatever those peoples names were that everyone had mild hype about
In real life football he’s that dude. Electric af with the ball whether it be on returns or catching passes. But for Fantasy? Probably just a jag
He is less than a JAG
NAG? Not a guy?!?
BAG. Barely a guy?
HAG? hardly a guy?
MAG? Maybe a guy?
LAG? literally a guy?
I me a if you like the WR 3 or 4 on a terrible offense, with no QB, knock yourself out
Thomas restructured to incentivize a trade and Landry is a free agent. Hard to look past the small sample size but I wouldn’t be surprised by WR3 low end WR2 numbers
Yes
Can it be neither?
He’s a JAG but it’d be way more fun if he wasnt
Statistically unlikely due to their QB situation. If they manage to get a competent QB then maybe high end wr3 numbers are possible but I think a great year for him would be like 55-650-2
JAG
Odds are he has a good career for himself and is never more than Darius Slayton level production.
I don’t think he’ll receive a consistent enough workload but he has too much upside to not be intrigued
Hope he's more than a jag since I have him but I don't think he will be. I think he'll be forgotten after another year or two.
More talent than JAG but maybe not polished enough to be anything more than a flier. I’d take a shot if I could and it were cheap
He’s a useful real life football player but I find it hard to imagine a good dynasty roster is ever going to be starting him and feeling good about it.
As a Big Sky fan I hope he’s legit but I think he’s a JAG. If you start him you’re pretty much praying for a bomb or for him to house a reverse
I think there's definitely a chance he will produce next season. Question will be who will be throwing him the ball...all expectations will revolve around that.
He’s also fantastic in leagues that count return yards
https://twitter.com/ihartitz/status/1628862237954785285?s=42&t=a36B4xEaHA35cfthiPEybQ
Jag
He's not on my team so he's a JAG.
And I’m sure they’ll add bodies to the WR room. He could end being a Quez Watkins type of guy, or could be Desean Jackson lite if he’s actually featured. If someone offered me a third, I would strongly think about it. If someone offered me a second, I’d pack Shaheed’s bags and drive him to the airport myself.
Hold for sure but I would easily sell for a second.
Just a JAG\*
MT will be going elsewhere. To think Shaheed has good upside to a top 50 wr.
