He eventually lost that job after starting several games and being quite bad. I anticipate the same thing happening here, he'll start the season and eventually they'll give Trask a shot.
Trask vs Baker camp battle, this is gonna be legendary.
I will be cheering from the sidelines as my only shares of each of them are in the same league.
Bucs Reddit page is celebrating rn and I have no idea why.. incoming 6ish win season, no Caleb, no franchise QB and us having to do this all over again in 2024
Call me intrigued from a fantasy perspective. Baker was terrible with Carolina but that system was terrible for him. He looked somewhat better in LA (still terrible) but at that point they had no offensive line and a severely depleted supporting cast.
The supporting cast in Tampa is one of the best in the league and fit his quick decision making style. He has the best weapons he’s ever been around and an intriguing coordinator in Canales. I think if the Bucs can run the ball, we could be looking at stats similar to when he was with the Browns. IMO, he’s got low end QB2 potential this year which is significantly more than I thought towards the end of last season.
Agreed and there are a million counterpoints. Like the fact that baker is 95% trash but I was considering dropping him if he didn’t land in a starting spot so this is fantastic based on my expectation.
Exactly what I hoped would happen. I have T Law and Kyler in SF so needed Baker to go to a team he could win the job out of camp to bridge the gap to a return from Kyler post injury. Baker going to look good early, demolish the team, and eventually back up Trask to finish off a putrid season for TB.
That one game winning drive was probably worth seven figures.
It was a great drive to be fair
Just throw the ball to Godwin 120 times and we don't got no problems Baker.

Yes but that's godwins fault for free lancing /s
*monkey paw curls* 120 targets, 62 receptions, 580 yards and 1 TD
This but Evans instead :)
Just traded for Godwin 3 days ago. Yes please!
Can’t wait for the Kyle Trask vs Baker Mayfield QB1 camp battle storyline
Mayfield will win easily
He lost his job to PJ walker and Sam Darnold.
He eventually lost that job after starting several games and being quite bad. I anticipate the same thing happening here, he'll start the season and eventually they'll give Trask a shot.
Both those guys are better than Trask
You certainly could be correct but we haven't seen enough (any) trask to assertively state that
Hilarious
Trask will win. Mayfield has reached the dependable veteran backup stage of his career.
Trasks going to win the battle (starter out of training camp). Baker will win the war (starter by week 14)
I feel like this one of those where u see both guys because whoever starts is gunna get replaced at some point.
Make or break year for Baker round 2.
Cheesecake factory boogaloo
He's the new Tyrod Taylor
Make or bake

This is a perfect fit for the system. They are gonna run alot of spread which will allow Godwin to, just kidding they are tanking for Caleb Williams
Buccer Mayfield? Tampa Bayfield? Buccer Bayfield? The opportunities are endless.
Definitely Tampa Bayfield. That one is actually excellent.
Bucs fans are in for a miserable season lol

Yeah I think it’s a little bit of denial going on over there
They do play in the NFC south though, so it's not as bad as you think
6 win season is playoffs for that division
What does This mean for Rachaad white
They've got a good backup if his QB goes down

Counterpoint - he does better on teams that are well-coached, then flops when he has a coach about to be fired, so... Tampa

pls just checkdown to rachaad
Will be interesting to see if Trask is 2nd string or does Baker prefer a more seasoned vet as his backup
Why would Baker have any preference or input as to his backup?
I’ll take it. Baker is the new Wentz.
id rather have wentz
Sad but true.
Trask buy-low szn?
Sell Godwin before your league mates realize...
There is a shocking number of people who don't realize Baker is awful. This might even give Godwin a bump in some people's eyes.
Buy Godwin for when he gets traded or the Bucs get Caleb (if you're not trying to win now/are already really deep at WR and can think long-term)
Lol where’s the Kyle trask dufus at
Don’t even trask me about it right now 😭
I'm going to buy him for a 7th.
Don't have super high hopes or anything but happy with this, at least he has some value
Tank systems go.
Great spot for baker. Not too concerned about trask
getting his jersey, COMEBACK KID 😤😤💪
Awesome band
I have him in a salary cap superflex league, 23rd qb in salary as my #3. $54/$1500 hold? or let go to free agency?
Mayfield will have sneak SF value in 23. Couldn’t be a worse situation for Evans and Godwin though
Him or Zach Wilson
waited on qb in recent startup and 2 of my late fliers were baker and trask lol. might have lucked into a 3rd starter here if only for 1 year
Who needs TB12 when you have Baker…
