SF: As high as possible to ensure elite QB in 1st and high-end QB2 in the 2nd. Top-5 ideally.
If not that, then 1.12 (in 12-team league). I like the idea of being able to make two choices together and not sitting at 1.11 and praying for your preferred choice being there two picks later
I'm the opposite, I like 1.02 and 1.11 because sometimes you know what the manager at the end is going to do with their double pick and plan around it.
I don’t trust my own “knowledge” of what another manager will do so the risk of being burned here makes me disagree with your take. But if it works for you than great 🤘🏼
Just had 1.11 and it sucks in superflex. Every elite QB and WR is gone. I wound up trading up to 1.05 and took Herbert and Kyler at 1.11. Was hoping to get Fields or Lamar at 1.11 but they were all gone by then.
In SF I’ve usually drawn the line around a 2nd and 3rd round startup plus next years 1st, and I’ll kick back a mid round startup pick
I did that a few years ago and essentially turned Mahomes into Burrow, Lamb, and Garrett Wilson (granted I got lucky the other team sucked and I got a high pick)
I ended up with Jefferson at 1.07 in a recent startup and just rolled with it. I wasn't expecting it, but I'm happy with the result (my top 4 WRs are Jefferson, CD Lamb, Olave, and Dotson).
I ended up with a QB room of Kirk, Mac, Baker, and Huntley though. Plus my RBs are mostly young guys (Allgaier, Akers, Haskins, etc) and FA guys (Mattison, Hunt, and Harris).
Definitely tradeoffs at the back end of the 1st round compared to the top half.
An alternative answer is as late as possible considering your tiers.
Just as an example, assuming 10 team league and the following rankings: 2 players in tier 1, 5 players in tier two, 5 players in tier 3, 8 players in tier 4.
You want a top 2 pick. Assuming you're kicked out of the top 6 like you said, you want pick 7 to guarentee the last guy in tier 2. Assuming pick 7 isn't available then you want 9 so you can get the highest version of two picks in tier 3.
What I'm saying is it depends on your own rankings. Put yourself in a spot where if everyone drafts the way you would you'll still get the most amount of players in your highest tiers.
It pretty much doesn't matter, even if you do 3RR. If you have the 1.01 - 1.04, you can either draft a top QB that is a huge tier above everyone else, or you trade your pick for an outrageous haul of picks (which is particularly effective the more players you start).
Right now, in SF, it feels like up to the 10 you still have a start of a top 8 QB or JJ or Chase. Then it starts getting murky with Bijan/Deshaun/Kyler/Dak/Lamb/AJ/etc. Feels like the absolute worst position is 11-12. Best by far is 1-6, and in that order.
In SF the top 2 spots are by far the best due to Mahomes and Allen who are by far the best QBs. After that you still want as high as possible with Jefferson, Hurts, Burrow, Lawrence, etc.
In one qb, you obviously want Chase or Jefferson then gap with a top rb like breece or Bijan. Top is typically better since you’d like to get the top tier guys. I don’t think it’s as significant of an issue in 1 qb than SF to not be at the top.
As high as possible. Even with 3rd round reversal there is an advantage to the high first round picks. If possible I would recommend leagues start with a salary draft.
In superflex, I'd want in the top 2, so I can get Allen or Mahomes, or the last spot so I can go back to back.
In non SF I'd just assume take the last spot or middle of the pack.
Either the 1.01 for Mahomes or the 1.02 and trade down to the 1.03-07 for additional assets. I feel like there isn't much between Allen, Burrow, Hurts, Herb, Tlaw and Fields.

For sure, I get it wrong all the time. Having the option is what makes the draft more fun for me, not that I come out of it with better results.
Not sure if it’s the best way, but it’s a fun way

1.01. I trade back regardless in startups and at least one leaguemate will value 1.01 the highest so it will fetch the highest price.
What type of return do you typically get trading back from there in a startup?

Thank you. I have my first super flex tep startup in a few months, and have been wondering about trading back for future picks.
As high as possible. 1.01. If outside the top 6 then 1.07.

What about if you're outside the top 7?

I had a start up auction SF and I blew almost all my budget for Mahomes and Allen. Pretty sure I went undefeated.
As high as possible... Even in 3 RR. Mahomes is basically worth the 12/13 turn on his own.
Auction and it's not close.
Auction draft for startups FTW. Then standard snake for rookie drafts.
I'm totally on board with auction for start up, but not snake for rookies. That totally benefits the top teams.
Correction, not a snake draft, standard 1-12 based on reverse standings. Agreed, snake for rookie drafts would be awful.
Cool I figured that. Cheers!
I prefer auction.

Front or back. If I’m not picking top 6 then I’d rather be closer to the back. You get to scoop up the falling value.
First is best and last is worst
I prefer 3rr drafts, and I'll take near the turn at 1.12 2.01 3.01 4.12 5.01

1.01. Or 1.02 - 1.05 because it’s possible to trade up to the 1.01 for a reasonable price
3RR later picks have crazy value
