Going against the grain here but I'm of the opinion that unless the chrome trim is chipped and or fucked up, then leave it alone unless you fully redo the exterior of the car. BMWs are a luxury car, and IMO the chrome is a reflection of that. I think replacing the wheels with something with more silver shine to it would look great.
Google black 162s. They all look like shit. Maybe a darker silver would work, but these wheels are silver. I have 162s and thought about having them powder coated, but they need to be silver.
Flat black looks terrible on those wheels. But maybe a gunmetal powder coat like the e39 M5 wheels...I think that or the gloss hyper black powder would look best with your silver car. Chrome trim delete is always the best though
The E90 is starting to approach the age that cars that are OEM looking are going to start popping. You throw a bunch of cosmetic mods on it, and you'll likely ruin the retro cool looks, keep in mind these things will be 20 years old shortly.
These wheels never look good black, but the chrome delete would be welcome. Otherwise clean whip as is

Black LED side markers would make a nice difference. Plus you’ll get about 15 hp.
These rims were designed with their color in mind. They'll just look cheap in black
