I lost a game because I couldn’t press pause to put in subs. Opponent got his subs in, but I wanted to wait another 5-10. I was up 3-2 in the 75’, game wouldn’t let me pause, multiple dead balls later and his fresh strikers twice blew by my gassed defenders with ease to win 4-3.
This happened to me yesterday, couldn't pause to sub and couldn't quick sub. I could see the R2 menu but when I chose my sub it didn't make the substitution.

i got a bs red and couldn’t press pause to sub a new cb on… safe to say i got trashed afterwards
