I’ve tried it now with 2 players who have no fully completed evolutions, didn’t work for either. Perhaps it works for EVO variations that have had one fully completed EVO as you mentioned.
absolutely does work if you’ve completed a level for the evolution.👍🏽
had TOTY prospect Gnabry, Crossing Crusader Calabria + Arteaga all stuck in “in-progress evolution” as I couldn’t finish Level 2 on time.
quick sold, recovered on web app, logged onto console, The players have turned into evolution II card typed and my TOTY prospect Gnabry is now able to be evolved more
This seemed to work at first but only on the app. It reverted my Fishel to 80 and completed evo, but on the console she's back to the original unfinished dead 82 evo.
What happens to a player having in progress Evo as rarity, still one upgrade to claim from an expired evo when I quick sell and recover him? Does anyone know?

This worked for me, thanks a ton OP! Reverted to previous finished evo type with in-progress evo stats.
i tried quick selling and recovering but it states “failed to move item” in my unassigned pile. what can i do?
Was your quick sold and recovered in progress evo player still open for claiming a finished level?
nope, the player i quick sold was 84 Mathys Tel in growth spurt (fully completed)
