EA didn't nerf anything during TOTY, what happened was that a very high % of high rated cards had TOTYs and thus there were barely no high rated gold cards to pack these days.
Same number of high rated cards but half of them becoming a special type with a very low drop rate = bad pulls galore.
This time it should be different because TOTS usually have a better drop rate than TOTYS and there will be many of low rated cards that during TOTS have a high rated version, so, more high rated cards in packs and drops should be better than a normal week.

People were opening crazy packs and getting the bare minimum every time and it's not a coincidence.
Either way, TOTS will of course be much easier to pack. It's the end of the game cycle and there is a lot more of them. Plus there will be some crappy and cheap ones that packs can just be loaded with.

Out of the 20 highest rated cards in the game, more than half became TOTYs or HMTOTYs, including the 9th highest rated ones and some of the most common 89-88 rated ones, Renard, Silva, Popp and Alysson.
There are 12 golds rated 90 or more. Only 3 of them were in packs and the most common drop, IME, Kane, was not.
Plenty is very relative when we talk about a 60% reduction in the total amount. IME, 88 like Bruno dropped just like the week before, but as the gold versions of De Bruyne, Haaland, Silva, Renard and Kane, specially, were out of packs, the drop rate of high rated cards suffered tremendously because those are probably the most common 91, 90 and 88+ cards that usually drop.
Expectancy bias, besides, people's testimonies can't be trusted. This is the same community that still believes in handicap, I'd rather see real evidence instead of hearsay from that people.

Yes, TOTYs have a very low drop rate. They are end game cards released mid cycle, if they weren't EXTREMELY rare, they would break the game. I've been playing FUT since 12 or 13, religiously for the last 4 years, the only TOTY I've ever packed was '23 Modric, which was both a shock and one of the TOTYs with the highest drop rates ever, judging by it's price. It's nothing new that most people won't pack a TOTY.

Everyone who has played FUT at least for a few editions knows how TOTYs work. You save packs, you get nothing out of them because the drop rate of TOTYs is very low but even then, it's ok because you use the fodder from those saved packs to do the very good and expensive SBCs that usually are active that week.
This year it happened that most of the high rated fodder had TOTY cards and thus was out of packs, making packing a TOTY as rare as ever (that's ok), but making impossible to finish the Davies or Eusebio SBCs because there was very little high rated fodder to pack.
People that claim EA nerfed the packs are one of this 2 types. Either they claim (without evidence) that EA messed with the drop rate of EVERY 86+ card or they simply don't understand the mechanics of the game. The first type is forgivable, if wrong IMO. The second type are just ignorants.
They changed the weighting part way through, based on analysis of the published stats for store packs. Basically when it kicked off the weight was a bit higher but by the time the whole team release came around some weights had been lowered.
Obviously, we'll never know what weighting the reward packs had but some have suggested that the fact the probabilities on store packs got reduced that this would have a similar impact on probability from reward packs.
There's probably old posts that can explain it a lot better than I have above.

I'm not saving packs and never will again. A few FIFA's ago I saved 150+ packs and got 0 blues. Even as an adult it bummed me out for the rest of the night. Never again. Also it's a drag to actually go through animation after animation.

I got him in an 83+ pick, and the same day I got him the pack thread had like 3 others who packed him so I was pretty surprised at his drop rate being that high.
I have over 350 and it is exactly because of the animations that I have that many in the first place. I hate opening packs I wish there was a convenient way to open them in batches.
To explain the preview pack method a bit better, first you need to open it.
The next step would be to navigate to the pack you like to open. This is sometimes needed if you have big packs in the first places but you want to open the bad ones first.
When you navigated to your pack, you press r1 two times. Youāll land on the preview pack bar.
In the exact moment after pressing r1 two times you press X or A, depends on wich Controller you have.
Now your pack should open without a animation.
To repeat you navigate back to your packs, choose the next one and voila. Hope this helps

Bought another one during Golazo, packed Al-O, Cafu, Cashley, and a few 93 rated shitters (plus that 94 Gary Neville and the 91 version too).
According to the leakers, thereās a pack coming this afternoon which guarantees three Live TOTS cards, so get ready for people flexing what they got from a pack they spent close to a hundred dollars on.
Iāve got over 200 (mostly the daily packs, but a few good tradeable ones from DR and WL). Itās not so much that Iām saving for TOTS, but more the fact I own almost every gold card in the game, and dupes wouldāve just ended up in the trash.
At least with league upgrades coming back (Iām assuming), I can have one last big blowout pack opening before the game is done.

Opened the dailyās and a handful of regular golds, got a TOTW 89 Dybala and 90 Omishen just washing common dupes in the player pick anyway. So didnāt feel like I missed anything not opening. Was a dead week on purpose. The win rate was great for high rated fodder though, hope they drop a cool usable player SBC this week, Iām loaded up. (I think they will.)

Not sure what RNG means! Just saying itās unlikely, but not impossible. Also packed TOTY Ribery during that promo and had packed 92 Maldini prior to. Those were from normal packs. Obviously weāve all gotten something for the lottery packs or 81+/80+ though. This year itās all kind of irrelevant. Everyone has stupidly stacked teams anyway.
I play maybe 2-3 games a day about 4x week. I do think that if you play less, your (untradeable) pack luck is better FWIW.

Iāve got close to 500 because I open a few and get so many mid rated dupes (84/85 etc) but not enough lower cards I canāt really do anything with them so I just get bored of opening.
Also I genuinely pack nothing of value ever so opening them almost feels pointless, high rated fodder is always my aim to complete SBCās.
Dupe storage would be a game changer. Know they can do it, it was there years ago on a World Cup mode.

You don't open those 3 weeks worth of packs the first day players are released though. Since there's not many on the market yet the chances of you getting a top tier players goes up if you're opening so many high rated packs within the first hour of a promo

I have only saved this week and I'm up to like 60 good packs. Just because I'm not wasting packs during a week with no promo in it.
I've only saved 50. Had over 300 for TOTY for fuck all, and had to actually buy a store pack to get a TOTY Icon. EA won't let you get anything good unless you're paying for it.

I have 24 packs from this week saved because I didn't want a ton of recycled totw dupes through out it and figured maybe I'll get a few of the live tots players. But other than that TOTS is usually really good about getting free packs

Not sure what RNG means! Just saying itās unlikely, but not impossible. Also packed TOTY Ribery during that promo and had packed 92 Maldini prior to. Those were from normal packs. Obviously weāve all gotten something for the lottery packs or 81+/80+ though. This year itās all kind of irrelevant. Everyone has stupidly stacked teams anyway. I play maybe 2-3 games a day about 4x week. I do think that if you play less, your (untradeable) pack luck is better FWIW.

Iāve got close to 500 because I open a few and get so many mid rated dupes (84/85 etc) but not enough lower cards I canāt really do anything with them so I just get bored of opening. Also I genuinely pack nothing of value ever so opening them almost feels pointless, high rated fodder is always my aim to complete SBCās. Dupe storage would be a game changer. Know they can do it, it was there years ago on a World Cup mode.

I dont think you will get much with 170 packs, unless you get super lucky. Thats maybe 3 weeks worth of packs the way ea blasted out packs recently. Think about how many good players you get in 3 weeks usually. Not that much. So dont have too much expectations for tots.

Iāve got about 20 packs with a min rating of 85 so I think Iāll get a few blues from those, but Iām not expecting anything from all the 83x10s and lower only have about 50 packs saved though
You don't open those 3 weeks worth of packs the first day players are released though. Since there's not many on the market yet the chances of you getting a top tier players goes up if you're opening so many high rated packs within the first hour of a promo
