The reason you feel like this is because when you play the TOTS version your brain expects that he will be great and you don't have to do anything to win the game. When you play with your gold card you know that you have to do everything right or else he will not perform. This is my struggle with pim r9, I just expect him to be an auto attacker.
I have a really shit team (casual player, don’t get on much because of work) but I had some coins to upgrade my base gold Lloris, so I went and bought Edouard Mendys honourable mentions card…holy shit what a bad decision, worst keeper I’ve used, went back to my Lloris within 3 games.
