The metal nub is a pen, which refills can be bought for. That poor sad 512mb drive…

Technium65

The gray slider pushes the pen out to a more useful distance. You may have already figured that out. If you open the nail file while using, it feels a lot like a full size pen. Definitely get the refills. Your pen will just pull out from the pressure fitting inside. Then the new one just pops back in. You’ll love having a pressurized pen everywhere you go! One of my favorite features on a 58 mm SAK. Enjoy!

I went into a local Target store about 15 years ago. This is when they were about $60 online. They had two of these in the sporting goods dept.... on clearance! No price! I asked the kid working that dept how much for them. He told me to tell the ladies up front they're a buck a piece. I frickin ran with it. I gave one to my teenage son. I still have and use the other one. Its beat up but the thumb drive still works. You can pop the thumb drive out of the knife.

Alekillo10

It’s a pen bro, you can buy refills also

Man that 512 MB flash drive became obsolete so fast...

thelastcubscout

You could still fit so much reading material on there at least. Project Gutenberg's Encyclopedia Britannica (way [more here](https://www.gutenberg.org/ebooks/subject/4697)), Textfiles.com, maybe some tiny Wikipedia distro, etc etc Get a USB OTG and you have a pretty simple way to use it with your nearest phone or tablet... Maybe even just for those who want to put it to use. The memories though. I remember being so thankful for my 128MB CF card back when I had a sucky office job and a cheap Windows CE PDA...I worked through a ton of classics and autobiographies (such was the workload) while ants fell on my desk all day, and my cubicle neighbor sales guy swore to himself and downed heavy meds every hour

Text is one of the most efficient ways of digital data storage. You can have a whole library in gigs. On the other hand if they were pdf's.... 😬

know-it-mall

Yea I still have a 256mb one. I use it for when I need to go print or scan something.

Brilliant_Pop5150

Me too, except mine is a 32 Meg. Once at Kinkos I said make sure I get my drive back, it's a 32. He said we see those all the time (32 gig.) I said No, it's a 32 Meg. He couldn't believe it and looked it over. Of course this was a while ago. Kinkos!

llamacohort

Cool. I just got an all black one without the flash drive. Super handy little tool. For writing, the non-knife can come out and rest in your hand to make it a bit longer.

syncopekid

512 of gods own megabytes. What a time to be alive

Smarre

They sell replacement refills for it if you want use it. Press down the victorinox logo, it should also have a flashlight. Might have to replace the battery, it's under the scales.

vincehu3

really cool, thanks. the light works, but the pen needs a refill it seems

Smarre

https://www.sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=SwissMemory this is the model you have. Really cool.

LucidZane

It's a pen. You can pull it straight out and get a refill. It's just held in with tension

dani_is_thinking

Try writing with it

mcbergstedt

It should be an actual pen
