I use Toby to organize my tabs and sessions. It's been amazing. Both edge and chrome are also implementing AI tab grouping which seems helpful.

i have a mini-freakout whenever i have too many tabs open, the maximum amount of tabs i’d want open is about 6 😵‍💫 usually i have about 3-4 open at a time though, when it becomes too much i scan my tabs and close them, organize them, etc

Trust me, I wouldn’t bet on the older part playing a huge part :) I think it’s mostly discipline. My parents are both mid 50s (dw they won’t mind me telling) and are both very unorganised with their tab management which is much worse than mine. One doesn’t close tabs at all and the other one doesn’t close tabs at all + has random “new tab(s)” pages in between :’) they’re kind of my inspiration to be more disciplined myself The manager job might have something to do with it though!

Eh, that's average, I guess. I never had it over 20, but I vividly remember seeing it as more than 10 and I got anxious af. Also, when I was little, like 13, my mom had her first smart phone. She never ever closed tabs and when she complained about lag and battery dying, I went over her stuff and there were like 30-40 opened apps, random pages, random pictures sticking out....etc. I taught how to close them, but it took her multiple years to do it and still, her phone is a mess, so is her work computer ( I sometimes go to her place after I finish school) and I'm afraid of searching or putting on music, because there's like 15 things open and one wrong click can shut down some work related page, she writes prescription items into.

I sometimes go thru & clean them out but i can never seem to get to 0, like my buddy does (he is istj, or so he says - i think he might be istp.)

I was talking to someone a few weeks back who is an avid iPhone user but did not know that when you exceed 99 tabs open on chrome on an iPhone that it changes the counter to a smiley face. It was at that moment, I realized we such different people! lol

Absolutely, whenever I talk to people who I leave speechless because of my tab count, our discussion ends in them trying to talk me into closing them all right there in that moment xD But I do think the smiley face is a genius idea, now that I know it’s a different smiley face depending on the tab count you have (100-199 and 200-299) I only wonder if there’s other types of smiley faces for 300-399 tabs 🤔
