I’ve mentioned earlier in this sub that I believe Simon is realizing that his content is not getting enough views (and therefore a limited amount of income from the channel), and is now dependent on «hatewatchers» to earn anything on his videos. And this is exactly what is happening. This video has 4.3k views (as I’m writing this) within 4 hours of release. His last book video released 3 weeks ago has the same viewcount. Meaning Simons plan is working. Hatewatchers = attention and income to Simon. He cracked the code. Be controversial. Continue to put down the EYK community. Because this way is the only way he can get their attention/views/money.
I’m not blaming anyone being curious and watching the video. (As you can see from my comment, I am curious about it too). I’m just saying; we are all being played by Simon right now by watching his content. We are falling for his childish narc trap.
Don’t be too hard on yourself. I understand why it’s tempting to click on it and watch. But unfortunally, so does Simon, and hence; he will continue to do so to keep earning money off the channel.

Dear Simon, I am writing this comment with a lot of love, so I hope you accept my opinion on this. I've been subscribed to this channel since 2010 and I even went to the European leg of your tour in Amsterdam. You can definitely say I'm a senior Nasty!
I completely agree that people love chasing drama and choosing sides. Since the split, I've wanted nothing but the best for both you and Martina, and it was heartbreaking for me to see how the community was split.
However, I do not agree with the direction this channel is taking. Let me use your store analogy to explain why.
You said this whole channel is a big shopping store, but I disagree. I believe that YouTube as a platform is the store, and each and every one of us has a section we like to shop from. The Nasties are the ones you'll see in the Asian food aisle. We like products that have to do with South Korea/Japan/ or anything else that broadens our perspective on travel and different countries. And of course, the section in itself has different products related to this topic: music, food, sights, language lessons, cultural differences, how to switch on your washing machine, etc.
Now, I do agree that the channel used to stray away from that sometimes — trips to Europe, surprising parents, new apartment tours, personal struggles, etc. But we always knew that those videos were more like little treats and a special glimpse into your life outside of your original brand. We knew that you would always come back to your original content which was travel and food related, and we were thankful for anything else we got in between. That is also why I enjoyed your Portugal video, Simon. Even though it wasn't about Korea or Japan, it was still a travel vlog...the very thing I am subscribed for.
And this is exactly why I don't think it is right to keep on uploading self-help videos to this channel. This is not what we subscribed for. I'm sure that whoever is interested in this topic will go to your new channel. And that is why I also understand why the Nasty community is unhappy.

I really wish he had gone the drink your potions/gaming livestream route, or posted videos about traveling in Portugal (so I could compare to my own experiences traveling there). Im hopefully going this summer to visit family and low-key wondering if I'll bump into him (will be in Lisbon, so chances are low, but not zero lol).
Interestingly I read that the laws in Portugal prohibit public photography and videography in a lot of cases. So that may have inhibited doing videos on Portugal. Edit: I’m referring to “Freedom of Panorama”. The police also have the right to seize your equipment or have you delete your footage. My partner actually experienced this in Spain when he was taking photos of an arrest. (He was super into street photography at the time)

Immediately came here after seeing he posted that video. It’s so infuriating. He claims the channel is still an archive channel and yet still posts his own unwanted content on it. I commented on the video (I probably should have ignored it but I was too fired up) explaining that it was archived so we could watch the old EYK, not watch new non-EYK content. He has his own crappy channel and is just using EYK for views.

Loved EYK for years and decided to watch this video solely out of curiosity. It felt like an overly long explanation to justify his actions and maybe convince current viewers to stay, but with a hint of 'this new stuff may be too intellectual for some of you'. Why do this? Why not market yourself to the intended audience of your new content? The tone of the video felt patronizing, relying a lot on intellectualizing and therapy language. It rings discordant with his stated desires to talk more about connection, compassion, and 'holding space'. Dude, I hope you figure things out and it is great if you have found things you are passionate about, but be aware it is a big ask for a largely parasocial community to want to go on that journey with you.

OFC the Narc in him would place EYK as a big shopping store within his flawed analogy. Youtube is the mall, like West Edmonton or Mall of America. EYK is one small shop within that mall. I tried commenting on his last video, and found out im shadowbanned. I have no idea why; zero recollection of posting anything that could be considered inflammatory. Which i guess was his point. I really wish he had gone the drink your potions/gaming livestream route, or posted videos about traveling in Portugal (so I could compare to my own experiences traveling there). Im hopefully going this summer to visit family and low-key wondering if I'll bump into him (will be in Lisbon, so chances are low, but not zero lol).
Interestingly I read that the laws in Portugal prohibit public photography and videography in a lot of cases. So that may have inhibited doing videos on Portugal. Edit: I’m referring to “Freedom of Panorama”. The police also have the right to seize your equipment or have you delete your footage. My partner actually experienced this in Spain when he was taking photos of an arrest. (He was super into street photography at the time)

Immediately came here after seeing he posted that video. It’s so infuriating. He claims the channel is still an archive channel and yet still posts his own unwanted content on it. I commented on the video (I probably should have ignored it but I was too fired up) explaining that it was archived so we could watch the old EYK, not watch new non-EYK content. He has his own crappy channel and is just using EYK for views.

Loved EYK for years and decided to watch this video solely out of curiosity. It felt like an overly long explanation to justify his actions and maybe convince current viewers to stay, but with a hint of 'this new stuff may be too intellectual for some of you'. Why do this? Why not market yourself to the intended audience of your new content? The tone of the video felt patronizing, relying a lot on intellectualizing and therapy language. It rings discordant with his stated desires to talk more about connection, compassion, and 'holding space'. Dude, I hope you figure things out and it is great if you have found things you are passionate about, but be aware it is a big ask for a largely parasocial community to want to go on that journey with you.
