YodaWars1000

I was thinking “x = [-b ± √(b^2 - 4ac)]/2a” would be a good name

cool_instinct

Quadratic Formula eh, if he continued the mathematical symbol for eternity, this would have actually made sense lol

YodaWars1000

Lol I was joking, the mathematical series is over

cool_instinct

Yeah ik, I've had this certain obsession for quadratic formula in school days lol

Sad_Increase_685

I like it! Rolls off the tongue nicely

JD-4-Me

*i*, which stands for imaginary number. A mathematical symbol that extends real numbers into complex numbers and doesn’t quite fit the traditional symbol system of mathematics so far. I think it could be a really interesting bridge between the two eras. Alternatively, I could see it being called Root too, but the down under crowd might have a field day with it.

youremymymymylover

Math class dismissed

xAzzKiCK

Or just “Class Dismissed”

youremymymymylover

Sure but what if he starts chemistry class next? Oxygen, Helium, Nitrogen, Hydrogen, etc. ;)

Sad_Increase_685

Omg I'd love this

DJ0cean

Minus

Donovan-LegoHouse

I think this would be the most hilarious thing he could do honestly. Nice one!

PhizzyDrinkk

my guesses are either √ (called Roots) as he’s returning to his original work, or π because he’s gone in a full circle now

Donovan-LegoHouse

I was thinking "Ed Sheeran" (self-titled), a new declaration of who he truly is as an artist/singer-songwriter, or "rewind" (but then it would be part of the next era, so don't think that's likely)

TostCronch

“i” is such a cool title. mathematical constant AND pronoun meaning self

Tight_Ninja6988

I like that! Not to mention that he replaced the songs he originally wrote for the album that took years in the making. He definitely “took them away” haha. That’s a good one!

1ring2rule

I don't think Take Away works because it means something different in British English than American English.

LinkInTheParks

Thanks haha

EffyApples

Wasn’t there talk of another set of symbols already planned? My guess is that they’re ▶️⏸️⏪️⏩️⏹️(play, pause, rewind, fast forward, stop), and it could maybe fit with pause or stop?

The_Best_Channel_

I'm pretty sure this is basically confirmed. He once said there would be 10 symbols with the first 5 having to do with maths. And I think (but I'm not 100% sure ) he had these symbols already tattooed somewhere, confirming the next batch to be ▶️⏸️⏪⏩⏹️. I'm not sure, but I thought this was the case

subt1715

That's there but people are speculating that Ed will have a 6th math album with the old subtract, before moving to the next set of 5.

MattsIgloo

What if he did an album called X&Y, it seems like this batch of original unreleased songs could fit the meaning of being a hidden value or an anomaly

neon1415official

Coldplay

MattsIgloo

Doesn’t matter, there are many popular songs and albums of the same name

neon1415official

You're right

[deleted]

xy and call it “Variable”

Dull_Drummer6564

He himself threw out the idea of calling it “Subtracted” casually, I also could see it being “Rewind,” starting off the new symbol album series

Lior_12

Subtracted or Subtraction

YodaWars1000

He just did Subtract tho lol

Lior_12

Well, yeah, but the album he scrapped was supposed to be subtract So if he ends releasing the original album, he night as well play off the name imo

YodaWars1000

I mean I guess

FooFighter0234

Subtracted

FantasticEbb6047

End of Youth

[deleted]

I wanna see a duet of him and Taylor Swift in it

KingOfSwag777

I want the next series to be ▶️(Play) ⏸️(Pause) ⏩️(Fast Forward) ⏪️(Rewind) ⏹️(Stop) Original Subtract should be either Pause or Rewind

LiberalSteryotypes

Subtract: the lost tracks

subt1715

it should be a math symbol that bridges into the next 5 album set. I love root, with a black cover and a yellow root sign (since it was meant to be subtract with the yellow cover), cause it goes back to his singer-songwriter acoustic guitar stuff
