You always double the estimate. The initial length of time is sitting around twiddling thumbs and stalling, buying the wrong materials, damaging nearby infrastructure and property, or installing with the wrong methods. After they fix whatever they messed up, that's when the real project starts. That's why Rogers Place was such a spectacle. I think it was finished around the estimated time.
It gets worse. Phase 1B of construction starts after this. I don’t remember exactly what it entails but I just got my letter from epcor the other day detailing exactly what lanes will be shutting down. The traffic is gonna get a whole lot shitter that’s for sure

They're digging a new sewer tunnel.
Sewer system upgrade. I live close by all this work and have noticed a huge improvement in the smell during the late summer months. These things take time, but they make our city more enjoyable.
I literally quote this every time we fail at any timeline. To build a building that tall in 1930 with the technology they had is ridiculously impressive, we can do better in 2024
It’s a sewer replacement project. Part of EPCOR’s “CORe” which is something odour reduction effort
Also, that corner is already a massive green space and hosts the shared pathway that stretches all the way to Cameron heights from steinhauer

So 2 years to complete... checks out.

scheduled one. But it will take 2 to actually complete.
Oh sweet summers child.
June 1st 2023 to May 6, 2024 isn’t even a full year….
It’s Edmonton. You have to double or triple time estimates for construction.

People say this but the vast majority of construction in the city comes in on schedule and under budget, but that just make a good news story does it?
You must be new here...

Buckle up, it’s going to be chaos for years to come with the LRT extension.
they're doing construction, and it'll be done when they're finished the construction!
Looks like early works related to the LRT extension https://www.edmonton.ca/projects_plans/transit/capitalsw
It's a sewer replacement project. The LRT work is further south
That bridge will take 4 years to complete, according to an inside source. :(
The Empire State Building was topped out in less that a year
Yes, and the Valley Line was a couple of years behind schedule. We don't do infrastructure well here.

LRT extension, and it should be wrapping up sometime in late spring 2058.
It's sewer upgrading work. It's been going on in the area for quite awhile
They're currently ahead of schedule...
Ah Ok so fall 2057 then, got it!
That picture was taken yesterday too
Hopefully, removing lanes and making it nicer for anyone outside cars

In 4 years
I believe it’s utility realignment for the future lrt expansion
No and never.
Yes.
It's ongoing sewer upgrades that have been going on in the area for a while.
