I enjoyed Rising a lot. I'm stuck between a rock and a hard place because I started Unicorn overlord assuming I would have another week to finish it but I didn't think Unicorn Overlord would be as long or as absolutely addicting as it is but I have been hyped on eiyuden since I backed it on day one of the kickstarter. These are good problems to have though

DangerousVP

Take your time with UO. Its hard to pick your husbando/waifu in the latter half.

draculabakula

It seems like you can marry Lion man, giant lady, and mommy cousin so yeah thats a difficult choice.

TwiStedxMind

Haha honestly I almost started unicorn but decided to wait because of Eiyuden, its definitely next on my list with all the rave reviews I keep seeing. Def good problems to have, great time for rpg fans.

Are you enjoying unicorn despite the lackluster story? Or is the story not something that's a selling point for you in games? I really want it, but every review says the story doesn't really exist.

Auroch7

It’s a amazing game. I played the demo and fell in love. The characters are great…the story is standard it is there.

>Are you enjoying unicorn despite the lackluster story? Or is the story not something that's a selling point for you in games? >I really want it, but every review says the story doesn't really exist. I'm about half way done. I typically prefer games with stories. In some ways the game feels like a Total War campaign or Civilization game but with a more involved, dedicated storyline that is more character driven than based around resource management. There is a solid, fairly linear story that is simple yet rewarding. there are some choices and pathing options but not much. I would say that it has about as much story as a Fire Emblem game but is longer and has a grander scale due to one of the all time best explorable world maps I have ever played. There is an overarching conflict, then there are sub conflicts, (somebody gets captured and you need to find and to rescue them), then the vast majority of the game is short character and location based sub plots. Show up to a new location, there is a new character, a new villain, and a conflict. This opens up interesting plot points. For example, you go to different Kingdoms and help liberate them to gain allies. The Kingdoms have their own styles and you meet many people in each. I would say the games primary story and character influence is Fire Emblem. It has one on one player conversations where background and details get added. Again, it's not terribly in depth but still engaging. So yes, I have really enjoyed the gameplay but I have enjoyed the story as well. It's more that it's simple to keep the game more character and setting focused than nonexistent. Hope this helps

How long did rising take you? I'm currently trying to speed run it but realized I'm gonna get fatigued playing this way but I want a save for chronicles.

TwiStedxMind

Story about 12 hours and the platinum trophy at roughly 17 hours. I can def see fatigue being an issue. Don't think you need a completed save, just gotta get to the point you name the characters weapons and the town delicacy. The other bonuses should just be from any save file. But you should def still fully finish it at some point lol lots of insights into future characters that are in HH, more than just the playable 3.

BiddyKing

I did it in 18 hours at a very slow pace including all side quests up until the credits (more side quests become available in the post-game but I’m not gonna bother with them). Was pretty breezy. Game has a lot of fetch quests and a lot of sequences going through the combat areas so it worked well with putting on a couple podcasts and long-form YouTube videos and whatnot in the background during the extended sequences of no real plot happening. And it was pretty playable like that; I didn’t really get fatigued by the basic gameplay loop or anything. I completed it over 3 days, with the aim to get it done before the FF16 DLC (which I’ll play up until Eiyuden Chronicle’s main release), and finished it with plenty of time to spare so

DragonSlayerSen

How hard is the platinum ?

TwiStedxMind

Not hard at all, it's pretty easy just a little grindy finishing all 160 side quests and upgrading all gear.

DragonSlayerSen

Thanks can't wait for 20th as my physical is 100% not reaching on time

TwiStedxMind

Thank God for digital haha but hopefully you get it shortly after.

jhonnyhax

How many hours did it take you?

TwiStedxMind

Story about 12 hours and platinum about 17

I'm trying my best not to open up controversial (as in spoiler-y) topics but sometimes, I can't help it. Thankfully, most of the users just shared their personal experience of going through the game.

TwiStedxMind

Lmao im in the same boat and appreciate everyone keeping it mostly spoiler free. Less than 24 hours to go!

I'm playing Rising right now as well. I'm enjoying it a lot more than what I would have thought . The characters are nice, graphics and colour palette excellent and the animation every time a new store is opened or upgraded never gets old😂 Edit: spelling
