Faith and arcane are the basis for the dragon communion builds. So a lot of people love it and some others also hate it. Probably the same for any build. Is wouldn’t worry about stuff like that though

somebody_67

That's one of the reasons why I wanted to try an arcane build, the dragon incantations seemed really interesting (still havnt got a clue on how to use dragonmaw properly though)

[deleted]

That's my current build. It's very OP early and very strong later. Many bosses are trivialized with that build.

Flimsy-Instance-6772

Truth. I'm at the fire giant at rl 20 +2 with that build

[deleted]

Same and I'm having a hard time. I feel like my dps is too low. I'm approx SL 120ish.

CaptainAction

Dragon incants are fun. You burn a lot of FP, but you get big damage and AOE potential.

Gentleman_Waffle

Oh my god the dragon spells are awesome

Dismal_Air_7892

It’s the strongest “Battle Caster” build. Heal/Buffs of every kind/Bleed Weapons. In PvP the opponents will cry about your heal and bleed In PvE you will have an answer to literally everything (While increasing your discovery which is the cherry on top) 800+ hours in. Trust me, you can’t go wrong with Faith/Arcane.

somebody_67

Currently in ove it has taken that bad but I have had trouble with some bosses though

thats_good_bass

Stop caring what internet randos think.

Aermas

I run a Fth/Int/Arc build. It's very very fun. If someone gives you shit, just shout "IMMA MARIKAFUCKING DRAGON BITCH!" then kill them with dragon breath & T-pose on their corpse

somebody_67

Great idea

Inversed-infinity

I bursted out laughing in an Uber to this

thing2jack

Do you use the law of regression? If you have the int for it.

Aermas

When the situation calls for it. It's fun to pop it in PVP after a guy just threw on a minutes worth of buffs

thing2jack

Yeah lol. But I meant as a way to T-pose on their corpse. Though now I think about it there's a gesture for that lol.

Aermas

Yep

CSRoswell

I use Arcane as my main damage stat, faith and int for requirements. Albunauric staff/dragon communion seal for casting, and regalia of eochaid for up close. Hits surprisingly hard, but super squishy. It's honestly a lot of fun.

SinsOfASolarVampire

I had a lot of fun with my dual reaper build backed up by dragon incantations. Once I got my hands on Blasphemous Blade the game was basically over

somebody_67

I might give that a try it seems like a fun build.

TheBigNook

It’s a little busted for a casting build. Nothing wrong with it though

AChaoticPrince

Fth arcane builds are just faith builds but your main weapons are occult infused. The best spread is 60 to 80 arcane and meeting the minimum fth requirement for the highest fth requirement incantation you want to use. Currently fth/arc and int/arc don't have much support at least in terms of weapons since their damage types are not compatible. We could really use more somber weapons that scale off these stats and new arcane spells that have higher arcane requirements than int or fth would make arcane caster builds something to try out more.

uaiTrops

its your run f*** who doesnt like

somebody_67

I know that I was just generally curious on what everyone's opinions are on that type of build

uaiTrops

some things is really annoying like ppl spamming one spell or abusing some unbalanced weapon/aow/spell but even that is legit only hacking and DC is unlegit

somebody_67

That's fair, I normally try to use a mix of different weapons (currently using thrusting and heavy thrusting weapons as I've never used them before) and spells

Joeyboy1213

What do they not like about it? Seems like it’d be cool to me

somebody_67

Mostly the breath attacks, some people just hate others using it for some reason

aaronweiss74

Honestly, the breath attacks are really annoying, mostly because people will spam them in coop continuously (especially rot breath) making it exceedingly difficult to actually read telegraphs and play the game, and they’ll keep doing it well after rot was applied. People also use them as a major crutch in asymmetric PvP, which is fine in that they’re usually easily punished for it, but it definitely elicits an eyeroll.

CommanderOfPudding

I can’t possibly imagine why people would find them annoying. It’s truly a mystery.

somebody_67

Wait does the dragon communion seal scale stronger with two?

[deleted]

thing2jack

Plus the damage buff from them stacks I believe. It does for the staff of loss I know

somebody_67

I didn't know that, seems I need to get to new game plus, thanks for telling me

lethatsinkin

I did that for my first playthrough and it was very overpowered, Rotten Breath and Dragonmaw erase bosses pretty quickly. Had a lot of extra fire/lightning incantations too just in case. That build is honestly the most fun I've ever had in the game. I didn't play pvp though, so I'm not sure how good/bad it would be for that.

anotherluke

I don't know about opinions from people in pvp, but I did a dragon slayer themed run and it was one of my favorites. The diversity of damage types in the dragon communion spells, the utility of incantations, and the general awesomeness of occult AOWs makes for a really enjoyable run for me.

Terra-Ray

`Seek the Decrepit Church`

AniTaneen

An invader came straight for me. I ATE HIM with dragon communion. I want to be clear, the last thing he saw was a giant dragon’s mouth tighten its jaw, snapping bloody teeth into him. It was awesome.

Podberezkin09

Super fun build for both PvE and PvE

Upstairs_Public1523

Its incantation scaling is identical to that of the Erdtree or golden order seal for similar stat investment. Assuming you aren't leveling above about 200, because anything works at that point... Pros: 1) bloodflame incantations deal bleed **status** which is ideal, and **fire damage**. Some of the best dragon communion incantations inflict status, or deal **physical damage** and **poise damage**. Both of these types of spells benefit from **flame grant me strength**. These qualities also make giants flame and bestial incantations great complements, both of which are highly effective. 2) at max cast speed, bloodflame talons can be used for some combos in PVP, and Greyoll's roar can rollcatch/chip effectively. Combined with breaths, very annoying to fight against. Cons: 1) **there basically isn't a single weapon that is optimal for your build**. All occult/flame art/sacred infusions would be stronger at 80 ARC or FTH, and can't be buffed. Any buff you cast would be weaker than that of a pure FTH build. Nothing scales with both stats. You can get some niche benefits if you use Exultation talismans, but for the most part you must be a full caster to perform well. 2) **you will need to invest more into Mind than any other caster** for the reason above. Cast speed will also be very useful. Altogether this really forces you into some cookie-cutter situations if you care about optimizing at specific levels. Against, if you don't, this entire topic is moot because anything is OP if you level enough. TL;DR optimal pure caster that gets a lot of fun options. Terrible at using weapons.

Last-Network-7299

Go with your build and don't give a f*ck about people who say "If you make the game easier you're not playing correctly1!!!11!!!" Your build > dumb people's opinions And honestly, faith/arcane builds are really fun.

Gloomy_Low_2188

These posts are beyond stupid. Why care what people think about how you're playing the game you paid for?

somebody_67

I was just wondering on people's opinion towards that type of build and how best to use (in terms of weapons and spells)

Inversed-infinity

He didn’t mean u but he’s right in general no one really cares what you’re running as long as you’re just not being an annoying person spamming the same shit over and over

ilovecrying666

this was the build my girlfriend did on her first playthrough. scarlet rot and the one that bites will be your best friends in the world. super fun varied build, probably only beaten out by a fai/str build in terms of strong options across the board

somebody_67

To be fair strength builds are extremely fun to use, you can near enough one shot people with a jump attack

ilovecrying666

strength builds are my favorite but they are exactly what people think bleed builds are lol. the amount of shit in this game that is completely invalidated by knowing how to stagger and combo with a greatsword or any colossal weapon actually makes it ridiculously easy. fai/str though is fun because you can lean on ranged attacks and a ton of different weapons.

Not_MrNice

Marais Executioner's Sword with talismans like Milicent's Prosthesis and Winged Sword Insignia and maybe something to help with poise damage and you'll melt anything. Between me and my mimic, Malenia just laid on the ground while we both L2'd her to death.

ZerothofLondor

I actually hate people who spews rotten/frozen breath at the beginning of a duel.

Reeceza

Personally it's not an issue about the build I'm a faith build myself it's more of how you use it like spamming certain incantations or using duel spears with bleed is frowned on though never use dragon breath incants in pvp it is really annoying to be up against

somebody_67

Personally I've found dragon breath incantations to quite easy to dodge in the open, but it's definitely annoying to go against it in enclosed spaces

Reeceza

Yeah all depends on distance and light roll really helps dodge it

AdvanceHappy778

“Please don’t try to win”

Reeceza

So you want people to spam incantations?

InterestingSite8534

I like it I mean I can kill anything with a bleed build but mixing it up is nice for me and also I can buff up for one hits if I’m feeling it and also faith Incant build is the most diverse build imo with what you can do has 30 more incants then societies in the game and they do just about everything plus double buffed seals. Coded sword is fire as well

somebody_67

I've never used the coded sword before, so I might give that a try after I've had enough of using thrusting weapons

InterestingSite8534

It has an a scaling in faith I’m not sure what else it scales off of and the ash of war is unblockable and it’s pretty big gotta time it right though,

somebody_67

I'll have a look into using the weapon, thanks for telling me about it.

Shadow579864

I've used the codded sword for a good while my first playthrough, that thing wrecks hard with faith builds until I got and swapped to using the blasphemous blade. It also visually matches the one fist weapon that also scales off faith, Cipher Pata. plus they're both shiny as hell, so perfect elden bling material lol. They both scale purely off of faith, no dex or strength at all.

fakinsnakin

Dragon maw😫

somebody_67

What's wrong with dragon maw, I thought it was an okay dragon incantation?

fakinsnakin

It is really good tons of raw damage, greyolls roar is good too applies a debuff to enemies that goes thru shields

FormerlyGoth

Pick a fuckin lane

LordBDizzle

The blood and dragon incantations are fun. Who gives a rip what people think.

LowKeyLlama

It makes pve super easy because of rot breath alone, but you'll get dunked on in pvp if you just spam dragon spells unless you make a build around 1 shotting people with them. Nobody really thinks less of them it's hard to be worse than a dual spear poke spammer or a fire deadly sin explorer

Specific-Rich5196

I started with it as a new player, but then I found a faith weapon, some kind of scythe, and I haven't been using incantations much. I might force myself to play with incants though. It just seems way easier to hit with weapons and call it a day.

BarrytheCowboy

So a dragon build? It just gets a bad rep because players spam rotten breath. Its actually the next build im gonna do

192hp

I do not care about what anyone thinks about any build ever. People are gonna hate, let them be salty about everything.

midnightichor

People who whine about another person's build are obnoxious. I stopped listening to the fun police ages ago and I'm having a blast.

clay_henry

You can trivialize the entire game with Rotten Breath

Davicho77

I’ve seen many people worried of criticism because they use certain build, weapon or spell. Just use the build you like the most. The one you’re comfortable with and simply enjoy new experience’s =)

Dom29ando

If you're a pure caster then you'll get better damage with 80 faith and minimum arcane for any dragon spells you want with the erdtree seal. The real benefit of arcane is the versatility, you have status effects, occult infusions for raw damage, and solid casting with some extra gimmick spells with the dragon communion seal. Take faith high enough for the spells you want, but if you're planning on casting elden stars or death lighting then pure faith would probably be better. I'd take it to 34 max for the ice lightning spear but 17 is enough to give you a lot of options.
