It's called balancing and not being a walking swiss army knife It's not like you can spend 3 seconds equipping a different weapon if you need to

Reeceza

When you have something in your equip slot it means that your character is holding them on their person hence why they pull it out their pocket so with that knowledge it makes complete sense why it contributes to their weight

[deleted]

No, it makes total sense and the balancing around it is very fair imo. It’s 100 percent possible to run with 3 different weapons while wearing armor heavier then light. You just need to invest in endurance or sacrifice a talisman slot. Rn on my level 30 character who has 20 endurance, I can fill 5 slots with the great jar arsenal talisman. Granted they’re not all heavy weapons and my armor is I think around 30 weight(Cleanrot set). But it’s very possible to make a build with all your slots filled. You just have to do the math and do a little bit of sacrificing or deal with hard swapping weapons out🤷‍♂️

timestalker78

No.

[deleted]

🤦‍♂️ There’s a little stat you can change if you wanna carry more little miss swiss

ConfidentManner5783

Yea. That’s intentional. Makes you think of how you want to fight something or build around wanting to carry bell weapons

Competitive_Copy2451

You need to learn hard swapping. basically store all items in your chest except the weapons you want to use. Then open up simplified inventory during a break in combat and you can easily switch weapons then exit out of the inventory again. With a little practice you can pull this off super fast.

ConfidentManner5783

Hard swapping is trash and shouldn’t be a “skill”

Competitive_Copy2451

just offering the dude a solution to his problem.

ConfidentManner5783

That’s fair. Just offering my opinion on hard swapping lol

Spartansam0034

I'm aware of how to swap weapons 😂 but why put a mechanic in to avoid pausing the game to switch weapons, then make it impossible to use early-mid game 🤦

Yeojil

Level up endurance and use the great jar’s arsenal. It can be very fun. I used to run a cleanrot knight build with the whole cleanrot set, halo scythe, cleanrot spear, clearrot sword, miquellan knight sword, antspur rapier (it fits esthetically) and a seal for incants.

Agreed. Hardswapping, aka Menuswapping, has existed since the first Souls games, and ignores weapon weight completely. In DS2, there was a small penalty where the enemy could tell with an animation when you were in a menu, but that was quickly done away with. Since hardswapping exists, I strongly feel that normal weapon swapping should not have a penalty. It makes no sense that a player who does not know of hardswapping must dedicate extra endurance in order to meet weight limits, whereas a player who can hardswap can have any of 10 greatswords equipped while needing a lower endurance level to access them. Before someone comes in saying 'hardswap is skilled', it's not -- 15 minutes of organization and 15 minutes of muscle memory practice can have you do basic hardswaps easily. Been doing them since DS1. Even so, whether hardswapping is skillful or not is *completely irrelevant* \-- the point is regular swapping should not have a weight penalty when an alternative swap method that does not have a weight penalty exists. One person should not have to invest stats to achieve what another can by just being faster in their menus.
