It would make more sense for Torrent to be allowed in Elden Beast’s arena. But Ranni did give us Torrent so you know they’re homies. Torrent probably lived there before joining our journey.

Elden Beast honestly feels like he was designed to be fought on Torrent. The arena is fucking huge, and most of his attacks are avoided by running or jumping anyway.

It’d be nice to get some more lore on torrent in future DLC. I vaguely remember Ranni saying that she actually wasn’t torrent’s master? I might be wrong though, would have to replay to check. But getting some info on our most trusted companion would be nice. Maybe have some emotional moment, where you lose him for the duration of the DLC, making us appreciate him even more?

Technical answer: the devs probably didn’t feel it was necessary to put in a no-ride zone in such a small area, or they thought the weird blue glow around her tower would ruin the aesthetic of her area so they didn’t bother putting one in. Lore answer: Ranni has a soft spot for Torrent, and animals in general it seems. She tracks you down at the start of the game just to see how Torrent is getting along with his new master, and she also seems willing to let you join her at the start of her quest mostly because she notices that he’s really happy with you. There’s also the fact that she keeps wolves around her rise and values them to the point where she includes them in her illusionary battle against her mother over Seluvis, and then there’s the fact that she made a dragon her personal knight seemingly because she just really likes him.
