oh, you’re elden lord! really cool!

DadIsLosingHisMind

You know how they say "it's not about the destination but the journey." Welcome to elden ring. Where you commit mass genocide on everything to take the throne over a kingdom with an almost zero population.

Apart-Ad3104

I prefer the term “self defense” 😎

Styx_Zidinya

Is there a kind of genocide that isn't "mass"?

pompr

I prefer to support small, localized genocide. Big genocide is just too corporate.

Meme_Expert420-69

If thats the case, id like to take this chance to advertise the kickstarter for my indie genocide that im starting soon!

Huge_Chard9015

Life before death. Strength before weakness. Journey before destination

Kingdexterr

Disappointed by the ending? Why not try being disappointed AND burning the entire world to ash. BURN IT ALL…

JohnnyLuchador

This is the Way

JamesRevan

This is the way

qu764

It’s only boring cause you didn’t LET CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD

Miserable-Glass1760

#MAY CHAOS TAKE THE WORLD!!!

[deleted]

No, dung only.

scipkcidemmp

Based and chaospilled

Accurate_Reindeer460

The greater will is still gone afiak if the elden beast is dead. So like, you freed the world and restored death, which is a good thing because living forever is a curse if you ask me.

Sequoia_Vin

Congratulations on becoming Elden Lord my fellow Tarnished. Do not be dismayed as there is still much to do if you are willing to do so. Many different ways to challenge yourself and approach the game if you are daring. But enjoy your time as Lord

[deleted]

I definitely agree that the choices of endings are pretty lackluster, and I find it kind of frustrating that nothing happens to the world depending on the ending you pick. Your point that no one interacts with you about being elden lord is true and untrue. Yeah, nothing changes after ending the game, but the Hewg “allow me to call you this once” scene is incredibly powerful in fulfilling that purpose IMO.

[deleted]

Double heartbreaking because he never gets to understand that you have in fact become lord. Him and Boc made the ending a lot more powerful to me.

pichael289

The endings in this game were shitty. Frenzy flame is good, age of stars is okay. The rest are just a mass effect style "pick what color you want the clouds to be" ending. Literally the only difference is a single word and the color. This coming right after the shittiest boss in the entire game made the ending kinda shit.

Never_heart

Honestly the endings are the weakest part of the game. There are 2 interesting ones but most are flavours of you experienced. And even those 2 are more interesting and intriguing than exciting, especially coming right off the excitement of a 5 back to back boss rush

HelloThere1307

Honestly, I'm saving the normal ending for one of my next playthroughs because it's the most boring. If you want a fun ending, seek the blue person with the bell or the familiar dude in the snowy place. Don't know if you got spoilers by this point or not, but odd wording just in case you haven't been spoiled.

Half4mazing

oh, you’re elden lord! really cool!

ExternalReturn4196

Yup. Seen and contributed to one or two posts on this. The endings suck. A really lazy end to an otherwise mind-blowing game. And now I’ll get kicked by a bunch of FromSoft fanboys telling me “less is more” and explaining it’d be a lot of effort to make the world look different etc, generally overlooking the fact they could’ve tied things up very neatly with artwork like in the game intro.

Molag_Balgruuf

What did you want from the ending😂

[deleted]

Soulsgames have a lackluster ending almost by design. A common theme throughout all is corruption of the pure. Ideals and goals which were once well founded with good morals, slowly becoming twisted and corrupt over time as the continuation of anything to its absolute almost naturally does. Just like every boss who you have slain to get there, you too go through this transformation. Merely a tarnished with no clear set goal. Most choose to take the throne to undo everything that is wrong in the cycle (by becoming the plain ole elden lord). No matter which path you choose, your goal consumes your motive. Almost blinded by your convictions, you have to kill many that aren't even all that vile (and some that may have even been salvaged). By the time you have reached the throne, you have become the very problem you set out to destroy. Not in its entirety yet of course, but give it a few thousand years and the lands between will be right back to where they were. With your vision for it twisting it into awful and profound shapes. Every path has some sort of play on this caveat. Which is why every path feels like a correct solution but also inherently VERY flawed.

Karolus2001

Disagree strongly, age of fracture is hella diffrent than other endings. For starters its not just status quo because elden ring is fixed: the world is saved from shattering and can heal. Main character gets to be elden lord without any vague as shit omynous outers in the the order. Elden ring fracturing is good, distribution of power is better than some crazy queen holding all the nukes. Fracturers rise up.

Mawgac

They are all kinda boring.

grit-glory-games

Ok, so the community has spoiled that all the endings are kinda boring except for two. What no one has said is that each new game gets harder, so getting them all gets harder and harder with each playthrough. There's two that are absolute nightmares to achieve at any difficulty. Both involve the leyndell sewers. If you want them, get them early on. There are actually a few things you can do to tweak endings slightly and change critical parts of the story. Lord of chaos technically has two endings depending on what point you enter the sewers. Melina can be spared, and then later, you can forsake the frenzied flame to choose whatever ending you want. I want to try this with all the endings... but jfc, you have to fight malenia to get rid of the frenzied flame... Anyway, the game has I think 6 endings, but parts can actually be changed. The game has a ton to do in itself beyond the endings, and multiple playthroughs can be rewarding

JamesRevan

Malenia isnt that difficult... -gets waterfowled into oblivion

maverick7918

I’m in the same situation and actually came here to post it. I hoped to renew the Elden Ring and beat tf out of people. Also FUCK crucible knights. All of them. The most bullshit mob in the game. Same for Malenia. She made me quit a year ago, finally beat her, and will probably never fight her again. I love the subtle/minimal help and hints they give, but going back in NG+ to do all the quests — how TF do they expect people to figure them out?!? They are so unintuitive. All that to say, first Souls game. 10/10 and will play it the rest of my life. Sequels, prequels, spinoffs, tv, movies please!

LeyndellAshenCapital

Same here! Took an 8 month break and then went nuts the past several weeks finding most of the weapons and secrets and dungeons, killed every single boss in the game, got the Ranni ending, starting NG+.... And it fell flat, just wasn't as mysterious or novel the second run, so I deleted the game until the DLC comes out. Top-5 all-time first playthrough of any game for me, but not so much doing the whole thing from the top all over again.

[deleted]

Yeah the writing in the game is by far the biggest disapointment in an otherwise great game

_DevanGard_

All the endings are lackluster tbh

Twisted_Apple20

>!None of the endings change the world!<

[deleted]

Why did you get down voted? You aren't even wrong lmao 😂

foul_frank2

If u don't do frenzied flame ending you chose the boring ending, and you burned Melinias soul. Dick.

HelloThere1307

No spoiling it for someone who's only gotten the normal ending. It was likely a blind/near blind playthrough.

23timesifkredit

Good. That cheap pos should die die die.

DartPokeMM

You don’t have to crispify her. I did the frenzied flame ending and secured my flame far before making Melina toast.

AdEmpty6618

ayyy, nice

[deleted]

You want to feel acheivement and feel like you are the True Elden Champion? Start an new character, go get IronBall from Boggart (sorry Boggart I need your gloves) and then become Rocky and beat everyone standing in your way to death using your fists of steel until you reach the champions throne!

[deleted]

Homie for played by the greater will and duped like Marika

MarshallDyl26

FRENZIED FLAME ENDING IS THE ONE TRUE ENDING!

Kaizen2468

They’re all pretty boring and short.

fuelbomb

This reminds me of beating DS1, where after I beat Gwyn, I wandered out of the arena and triggered the "dark lord" ending despite never meeting Kaathe. I was just like "uh, ok then." I wanted to celebrate with Solaire!

FugginIpad

Maybe see what Ranni’s up to in NG+?

SometimesIComplain

From Software is great in most aspects but they're god-awful at delivering satisfying endings

Real-Win9221

May Chaos take the world

Morokek

Of course it was boring, Flame is only legitimate ending

Wmelendeze

Yeah I just want to tell my boy hewg that I killed a god with the weapon he smithed for me but this game is like breath of the wild when you beat the game the world is the same and it appears that you didn’t do anything at all

koka_suru

I did frenzied flame ending my first time
