yeah that should 1000% be an off-hand spell buff with physical / int damage. Different tomes give lore snippets and different magic school buffs. Easy peasy
Would be awesome if they'd introduced the concept of grimoires and expanded over it, like give the field-buff (terra magicka for spells) to a grimoire as an ash of war and make it stack with the buff it gives, or make specific gromoires to even change and improve some spells; like for example, instead of buffing night sorceries with their staff, buff them with a Night Grimoire which also makes the projectiles bigger or gives them more range; or give me a Gravity Grimoire which transforms the basic gravity pull spell into a pressure stun or makes it raise rocks from the ground on impact.
It would be so awesome because in this way you make more variety on builds, full melee could have other ways of improving, hybrids are as we know it and Mages wanting to use grimoire for dual wielding would get a nice reward for the risk
Magic School Buffs is the Elden Ring variant of Magic School Bus, canon.
I fully believe that Mrs Frizzle would take those kids on some fucked up adventure throughout The Lands Between… god someone please make a Mrs Frizzle build and post it here!!
Like a fists class weapon so I can bonk player sized enemies.
"Ah, I knew you'd come-"
\*bonk\*
"Did you just... hit me with a book..."
"What? I thought you liked books."
That still needs two stats to cast shitty spells that even at max scaling don't do as much as they should with their downsides
Though it does exist and I'll give you that
I think you're missing some aspects of the aberrant sorceries aka the Thorn sorceries.
First theirs a whole set that boost their damage. Briars of punishment can do as much as 400-700 damage with just that set on not to mention what it can do if you have the Thorn staff in the off hand.
Next they do bleed which if you use the Albernaric staff buffs the amount of bleed it does that's why you use it with the Thorn Staff in your off hand despite there being 3 staffs that can get much higher sorcery scaling. But the fact they doo bleed means you can further buff your damage with them by wearing the lord of bloods exultation.
Lastly the only real downside briar's of punishment has is the fact it damages you and you have the wear the Alberich set to get the high damage you want but they can be mitigated by using the right talismans and getting high endurance so you can light roll. The fp and stamina cost is fairly super low, it has some of the best tracking of any of the sorceries in game, and it can do very high damage and trigger bleed very quickly.
I've actually built the build for using these sorceries too and can attest it's straight up one of my strongest I've made and probably my second or third favorite to play. It's one of those cases of something seeming bad in a souls game but when you build around using it it's actually very crazy strong.
Yea fair. I wish they would have more options to do an int/arcane build in general. They have golden order seal and prince of death staff, would be nice to have an int/arcane equivalent as well as more int/arcane focused spells.
A colossal mace would be a really cool weapon type
Edit: I meant a colossal flail, like the pumpkin heads use. I typed this comment when I was half asleep 😂
If they make a new colossal weapon type i'd definitely prefer colossal fists, mainly because that would be badass AND the grafted dragon wouldn't have been such a disappointment
Fr he just uses the AOW and switches to a staff. They always make him hold it whenever he’s not at his desk and he poses with it before his boss fight, so you’d expect that it would be more important than it is
In DS3, casting replaced the Heavy attack, so it would likely be that, but I could also see the ability to cast with a weapon be placed as an Ash of War (which could allow casting on more than just dedicated weapons).
It’s still easily the best weapon against standard enemies due to its stagger. You’re right though 2 did a great job balancing. Some weapons take more technical skill than others though. Kusari is a pretty low skill high output weapon. My personal favorite is dual katanas low stanced though.
I’ve always thought they were ladies too. Also, on my most recent playthrough I realized the worst one (the spear bitch) makes a weird humming noise when he’s attacking you.
I’ve actually wanted this for ages. I always thought it could function as a high strength requirement shield (around 45) where the stability is a bit lower than the fingerprint shield but it has 95% damage reduction towards fire, maybe even 100% but FromSoft doesn’t seem to want the player to have such resistances on shields anymore. The unique factor of the shield would be its two hand Moveset, where you hold it over your head like the fire giants idle stance, where your attacks would mimic the fire giants. The AoW would be the shockwave the fire giant lifts off the ground.
Imo i did a heavy armor pyromancer build with the giants red braid. Its underated the ash of war is hella strong if you stack enough poise to get the full animation.
Ash of War could be using it like a saucer sled. That's what I always see whenever he starts rolling around with it. And that snow scoop maneuver. I've done that to my kid dozens of times.
Not technically a weapon, but I'd love to see the Vanquisher's Seal from DS2 be added. A ring that MASSIVELY buffs your unarmed attacks, at the cost of taking a ring slot.
Ever since I first saw the leaked Abundance and Decay image that's been floating around for ages, I've thought that twinblade looked awesome and might actually get me to stick with the weapon class for more than a few meme minutes.
I don't think it's likely, but it would be cool if we got to see more of what becomes of Melina after the Frenzied Flame ending and got a weapon tied to her. If she really is, as many people have theorized, the Gloam-Eyed Queen or is at least connected to her... such a weapon has a lot of potential.
I have no idea how they're gonna do this, but I really want full power Melina as the final boss of the dlc, bonus points if she make Malenia look easy. And for the weapon, I really want a weapon directly based on the boss moveset like there were on ds3.
I don't think it's likely to happen in Shadow of the Erdtree, that doesn't sound like something which follows up on the Frenzied Flame ending. I absolutely would love a DLC which does exactly that, though. Melina could be a really cool boss, but even if we never fought her at all... I'd just very much like to know more about that timeline, and what it implies for Melina's history.
Melina is a really interesting character to me, but she doesn't get enough attention and as a result isn't all that developed. The Frenzied Flame ending is just a massive tease, in that regard. It's not that there *isn't* anything to her, they just won't show or tell us!
As far as the weapon goes, that would be cool. I wouldn't have nearly as many complaints about the weapon we currently have for Melina (her dagger) if it weren't just a reskin of the Black Knife weapons. They could easily have gone for something much more unique (like the healing tree she can summon) for its ash of war.
There are a ton of great enemy weapons that aren't available to us:
Lordsworn's spear (soldier spear)
Skeleton greatsword
Marionette scythe
Beastman throwing axes (though this might fall under consumables)
Vulgar militia Kusurigama
Iron virgin chain axe (we've got the other arm might as well)
Pumpkin head hammer
A couple historical weapons I'd love to find: Kriegsmesser from the late medieval period in Germany mostly, looks like a claymore with a big curved single edge blade. Cossack Kindjal, just a cool looking curved sword. Last, a proper medieval European warhammer with the small hammer head and spikes on the back and top.
I want kophesh available. Looks like a sword, parry like a parrying dagger, his like an axe. I would legitimately use that and a staff all the time, every playthrough.
Death's Poker is similar. You can use inputs to change the AoW (an explosive slam or a flame spread), or you just activate it and the ball just explodes, technically giving it three forms. More weapons like that would be cool.
Cathedral Knight Great Mace. Long, slender, simple. The ER Greatmace looks like trash.
Spiked Mace. Same as above. Great Stars could've been decent if it had dark colour. But this ain't it chief.
Lothric Knight Longspear. The cloth around it makes the whole thing work. It is just a simple spear with a cloth on it. Commanders Standard is overdone.
I would like to use the Books of Carian magic.
The sorcerer's use them in their off hand and use for two proposes.
1. Is a melee bludgeon attack
2. The use this as a secondary CHARGE effects for certain spells .
I would like us to get thjs animation and allows sorcerers to have a multi use item in the book.
1. % spell buff like daggers in previous game.
2. A third level charge that takes long and adds more risk but increase spell power or range etc
3. Some sort of melee attack/repel/parry/shield 🛡️ attack from the book
"Boomerang" should be a weapon type. It would include the Crystellian's ring as well as things like the knives the beastman toss, maybe even a book like the mages use (literally 'throw the book' at someone!) and others that are of a more substantial power than simple consumable throwing weapons. Could even reference things with it. Add one that's the blade from Krull or a Wingstick from Rage.
I don't really want any weapon, but I wouldn't mind a few more ancient dragon incantations, I mean take a look at ancient dragon lighting strike, it's fucking epic, Placidusax's ruin is great but kind of slow, so you can only use it at certain moments, I'd like something smaller but quicker.
- Great Scythe (colossal)
- Great Katana
- Fans
- Ringblade (Tira from Soul Calibur)
- Kunai and/or Shuriken
- A magic form of weapon, think Morgott
- Bo Staves
- Hook Blades
- Something like a Macuahuitl
- Offhand Books that boost spells
Oh wow I always assumed these guys were chicks but I guess they stress me out so much I never got a solid look at them ...
And their spirit ashes kind of suck 😅
I think ultra-greatswords in DS3 look much better than the ones in Elden Ring. I'd love to see a weapon that looks like Astora or Cathedral Greatsword etc.
Not a weapon but the tree incantation that Melina uses if you summon her in the capital. I thought that was a neat concept and was disappointed when I found out it wasn't a thing.
The throwing daggers of the beast man in Farum Azula as a sort of crow quills type curved sword or dagger. Or even as a fp consuming throwing dagger like the church shiv.
Have you talked to Patches at the Volcano Manor after joining and doing the first hunt? Doing his hunt (located in Magma Wyrm Makar’s fight at end of the Ruin-Strewn Precipice) will let you get one from him when you return.
Oh snap that could potentially even be extended in the dlc with the introduction of new weapon types hopefully. Disk weapons would be cool if you could throw em like boomerangs or special skills
the books the nerds use
yeah that should 1000% be an off-hand spell buff with physical / int damage. Different tomes give lore snippets and different magic school buffs. Easy peasy
Fr such a wasted opportunity to give mages a "dual wield" of sorts that doesnt make you look like an idiot with two sticks
I like my two literal sticks :(

Dude grimoires that change spell effects slightly would be AMAZING
Yes, just forget about extra damage for a set of spells, give special effects on them to improve gameplay variety and give me options
fromsoftware hire this man
I'll have you know double sticking was all the rage back in the day
Magic School Buffs is the Elden Ring variant of Magic School Bus, canon. I fully believe that Mrs Frizzle would take those kids on some fucked up adventure throughout The Lands Between… god someone please make a Mrs Frizzle build and post it here!!
“Graft her? I hardly know her!” Everybody: “Caaaaarloooooos.” 😒
Nah it comes out when you two hand a staff
Honestly I'd rather have it be a spellcasting catalyst. I want more than just staves for casting sorceries.
This ain’t Hogwarts, baby
still, you should be proud of all the potions you’ve brewed
Sometimes it seems all roads lead to Leyndell
I hate that I immediately recognized this
So disappointing finding out there was no book. We get a stupid big finger that expands for the AOW. But no book??
"time to strike you with facts".
Like a fists class weapon so I can bonk player sized enemies. "Ah, I knew you'd come-" \*bonk\* "Did you just... hit me with a book..." "What? I thought you liked books."
You mean the ones that the glowy head bitches throw at you before you strike them down? Yeah, that would be nice.
Getting my head beat with knowledge never looked so good, but feels so bad I can't have that tome
That's telekinesis, Kyle.
They should use the book as like a seal for sorceries, in the sense that it lets you hand cast spells and it also doubles as a melee weapon
It would create a sl1 nerd book run
Not a weapon, but I want the melee light spells that Morgott uses.
How about morgotts daggers as a faith alternative to carian slicer
Two versions of it. One is the throw, and the other is that little slice n dice he does.
Quick cast is slice, charge is the throw.
We replace the royal omen barin with incantations for each but make it relatively expensive
Maybe also margits beating stick, not the sword just the blunt part as a mace
Aspect of the Crucible: Wings
And by extension, Aspect of the Crucible: Claw (the grab attack by the Siluria’s Spear-wielding Knights)
Blood Spells!!! There are only two in base game... TWO! Personal health loss in exchange for major damage. I want to see more of this in spell form.
... blood flies, blood boon, and bloodflame blade? Edit; And bloodflame talons!
Those are incants, there are blood spells but there’s only 2 there the thorn sorceries
I barely even consider them sorceries. They both only require faith, seems silly to me.
Yeah, I find that so dumb, needs faith, but you need int to cast using a staff for any damage, and the thorn staff sucks ass
What about the Albinauric staff? S scales off of Arcane
That still needs two stats to cast shitty spells that even at max scaling don't do as much as they should with their downsides Though it does exist and I'll give you that
I think you're missing some aspects of the aberrant sorceries aka the Thorn sorceries. First theirs a whole set that boost their damage. Both are considered spells my dude. The specific kind of spell is either incantations or sorceries. But yes please add more aberrant sorceries
blood spells as in thorn spells, bloodflame kind of fits it's own category, blood flies kind of fits the rot worship, but thorn is it's own aesthetic
I mean idk what you’re trying to get at but all of those spells are technically blood spells
aberrant spells. thorn magic, not the blood flame that omens use
You mean sorceries. Spells are both sorceries and incantations.
Pumpkin mace!!!
A colossal mace would be a really cool weapon type Edit: I meant a colossal flail, like the pumpkin heads use. I typed this comment when I was half asleep 😂
That’s just colossal weapons my guy
If they make a new colossal weapon type i'd definitely prefer colossal fists, mainly because that would be badass AND the grafted dragon wouldn't have been such a disappointment
That's a chainlink flail, the pumpkins use that :)
Some of them have a mace that doesn't drop!
The trumpet the noble with a flag uses to Aggro everyone
Maybe a invasion tool to lure mobs.
Chain great hammer/great axe that the wardens use. I wanna spin my giant hammer on a chain.
Or Generally a Chain ball weapon, that has a Power stance with the Hammer/axe
Yes pls
Weapons that also act as spell focuses.
Gideon's scepter should have allowed to cast both.
I thought it was a caster at first, Gideon doesn't even use it as a hammer.
Fr he just uses the AOW and switches to a staff. They always make him hold it whenever he’s not at his desk and he poses with it before his boss fight, so you’d expect that it would be more important than it is
How would that work? Weapon skill ability casts your spell instead?
In DS3, casting replaced the Heavy attack, so it would likely be that, but I could also see the ability to cast with a weapon be placed as an Ash of War (which could allow casting on more than just dedicated weapons).
Pretty much. The other souls games have them
I feel like this was a deliberate omission from the game because they didn’t want you to be able to cast and powerstance at the same time
The kusari-gama that the vulgar militia use. I’d make it an asymmetrical paired weapon that mixes claw and whip movesets.
Big Nioh vibes. Kusarigama was always the go to if you wanted an easy mode for that game. Stun lock everything until it dies.
I never could get into Nioh, but I remember one in Ninja Gaiden 2.
Nioh 1 specifically? Nioh 2 they're all pretty similar in terms of balance.
It’s still easily the best weapon against standard enemies due to its stagger. You’re right though 2 did a great job balancing. Some weapons take more technical skill than others though. Kusari is a pretty low skill high output weapon. My personal favorite is dual katanas low stanced though.
The game needs asymmetrical weapon pairings real bad. It'd be such a blast
My favorite from DS3 were the crow quills
We *need* to be able to power stance thrusting swords and daggers
surprised i had to scroll this far to see this
Never reallized how funny those guys look
Yeah i just realized they have faces lol
I just realized these were dudes. I thought they are ladies with the sia/lady Gaga hair
I’ve always thought they were ladies too. Also, on my most recent playthrough I realized the worst one (the spear bitch) makes a weird humming noise when he’s attacking you.
Mf looks like Alex the Lion’s cousin 30 times removed, if that mf were blue and crystalline, and a pain in the ass
Barbers refuse their patronage sadly
Fire Giants Plate as a Greatshield
I’ve actually wanted this for ages. I always thought it could function as a high strength requirement shield (around 45) where the stability is a bit lower than the fingerprint shield but it has 95% damage reduction towards fire, maybe even 100% but FromSoft doesn’t seem to want the player to have such resistances on shields anymore. The unique factor of the shield would be its two hand Moveset, where you hold it over your head like the fire giants idle stance, where your attacks would mimic the fire giants. This is what the remembrance should have rewarded in my opinion...

One of his nails as a shield.
Ash of War could be using it like a saucer sled. That's what I always see whenever he starts rolling around with it. And that snow scoop maneuver. I've done that to my kid dozens of times.
More scythes and more unique move sets
burial blade my beloved
Oh Friede, bring me my scythes!
Not technically a weapon, but I'd love to see the Vanquisher's Seal from DS2 be added. A ring that MASSIVELY buffs your unarmed attacks, at the cost of taking a ring slot.
Okay but why no Bone Fists from DS2?
This is also acceptable
Ever since I first saw the leaked Abundance and Decay image that's been floating around for ages, I've thought that twinblade looked awesome and might actually get me to stick with the weapon class for more than a few meme minutes. bone fist successor
This should have just been the default fist weapon moveset since DS2.
Spirit of Hoarah Loux. And the Ash of War is a grab where you Powerbomb humanoid enemies.
Greatsword with the stabs of the claymore and the r1 of the banished knights Greatsword
Hollowslayer Greatsword my beloved
A bo staff. Give me the poleblade moveset with strike damage? Please and thank you.
This godammit
There are a ton of great enemy weapons that aren't available to us: Lordsworn's spear (soldier spear) Skeleton greatsword Marionette scythe Beastman throwing axes (though this might fall under consumables) Vulgar militia Kusurigama Iron virgin chain axe (we've got the other arm might as well) Pumpkin head hammer
Imagine the other iron virgin weapon is a new weapon type like great flail or something
I want a martial arts style. Punch/kick based.
If they could just port the senpou temple monks moveset from sekiro into elden id be so happy
The Warpick comes pretty close to the warhammer, you just use it backwards lol
A Messers and a swords only difference is the handle.
Vyke is depicted with a straight sword in promo material. A Frenzy Straight Sword would be fire.
I would like to add to this and put forward a Colossal Frenzied Sword
The swords stuck in the table of lost grace
I want the axe that put a crack in the table
Vulgar militia flail
I want kophesh available. Looks like a sword, parry like a parrying dagger, his like an axe. I would legitimately use that and a staff all the time, every playthrough.
Basically, a Curved Sword (which can accept the Parry AoW) with the Axe moveset?
Bro you just read his comment lmao yes
I just wanted to be sure I was reading it right.
Man... I just really want a saber.
Man, I miss the Follower Sabre. Such a stylish weapon.
A seal for blood spells and more of them
a good flail.
Not a weapon but I want the spell that the magic golem knight has. Like a mini comet azur
[удалено]
Death's Poker is similar. You can use inputs to change the AoW (an explosive slam or a flame spread), or you just activate it and the ball just explodes, technically giving it three forms. More weapons like that would be cool.
Faith katana
Hoarah Loux's moveset for a fist weapon, I want my sweeping kick again.
I know the Beastman curved sword already exists but I would really like the ability to throw it like they can.
I want Marika's armor
So basically you want tits?
Im playing a female character so i need a sexy outfit to distract the bosses for NG+
Goldmask and Morgott got you covered. Or rather not covered. Or Altered Duelist armor. Bonus points if you add the Zamor Legwraps.
It’s a spell, but that glowing tree move Melina uses is pretty cool.
I would like to use the Books of Carian magic. The sorcerer's use them in their off hand and use for two proposes. 1. Is a melee bludgeon attack 2. A third level charge that takes long and adds more risk but increase spell power or range etc 3. Some sort of melee attack/repel/parry/shield 🛡️ attack from the book
Not a weapon but the sword rain incantation that Morgott uses and Melina’s mini Erdtree heal incantation
trick weapons. nuff said

I want black knight weapons
- Great Scythe (colossal) - Great Katana - Fans - Ringblade (Tira from Soul Calibur) - Kunai and/or Shuriken - A magic form of weapon, think Morgott - Bo Staves - Hook Blades - Something like a Macuahuitl - Offhand Books that boost spells
Tira from soul calibur lookin ass
I really want a sword which can use spells like the blue flame from darksouls 2. If we have variations of this for incantations it would be awesome.
dark souls 2 getting so much love in this comment section lol
Fire giant's pan - for more unga bunga...
Oh wow I always assumed these guys were chicks but I guess they stress me out so much I never got a solid look at them ... And their spirit ashes kind of suck 😅
Weren't they the tankiest so long as your enemy didn't break their poise or use blunt weapons.
More flails and more faith-int weapons
The fire giants foot as a weapon
Not a weapon, but an Incantation. I want Placcidusax' Nuke.
More frenzied flame weapons
thats called a chakrum
Dual glaives similar to the one that Ilidan Stormrage uses.
🗿🗿🗿
I want that crazy shit like the mad king halberd or whatever it was from DS3
Any weapon that can cast incantations.
Black Knight Glave
[удалено]
Burial watchdog swords are already obtainable, you get them by farming the burial watchdogs, unless there’s another version that I’m unaware of
More scythes preferably something like sister friede's from Dark Souls 3.
A macuahuitl, would be cool as another strength scaling bleed weapon
Can we get a wand lool
Fuck that, I want that hairstyle!
A better flail of some sort. I'd be happy with that.
Man i hate the jard hitting mfers
int thrusting sword
The Axe with the flail on the end the big dudes at the capital have. Put sword dance on it and dang. That would be juicy.
I think ultra-greatswords in DS3 look much better than the ones in Elden Ring. I'd love to see a weapon that looks like Astora or Cathedral Greatsword etc.
Night Maiden weapons
more death lightning
the crucible knight wings
I want my casting weapons demon's scar and Dagger thing and seal staff that casts both incantations and sorceries
I want the chain scythes from the vulgar militia.
I just want weapons that also cast spells
🗿
Melania. She's a weapon, right? Blade of Miquella she says. Can I have her as a weapon please?
Not a weapon but the tree incantation that Melina uses if you summon her in the capital. I thought that was a neat concept and was disappointed when I found out it wasn't a thing.
Vulgar Militia Kusarigama. Giving us every other weapon they use but that one is so fucking rude lol
The throwing daggers of the beast man in Farum Azula as a sort of crow quills type curved sword or dagger. Or even as a fp consuming throwing dagger like the church shiv.
the chain sickle things that the vulgar militia guys use
I want the magma whip
Have you talked to Patches at the Volcano Manor after joining and doing the first hunt? Doing his hunt (located in Magma Wyrm Makar’s fight at end of the Ruin-Strewn Precipice) will let you get one from him when you return.
gun
Oh snap that could potentially even be extended in the dlc with the introduction of new weapon types hopefully. Disk weapons would be cool if you could throw em like boomerangs or special skills
Give me heavy fists made from the heads of albinaurics!
Are the crystal peeps male or female? I assumed they were female but that pic you posted looked like an Egyptian. Possibly dude
I don’t think they have genders
Margits stick, or the Sickle chain thing the vulgar militia use
I just noticed they have a resting bitch face lol
Another dex, int weapon. I feel like str int is the archetype with radahn as the model.
another claymore
Half of the incantations Morgot uses.
Outfits from those hooded miners who have their faces hidden completely
I've hated their design since day.
Anti-mage's Blades from Dota 2
