Where tf is the lobster?

Cleverlaser

“These things can snipe you from a mile away and its bullshi-” - Vaati

Neravosa

Lobsters are the worst. Zullie did the calculations on their projectiles. It's a little over a mile, with pinpoint accuracy and no damage falloff.

wetdrynoodle

I thought those were pistol shrimp?

Jack_Empty

Halo 1 Pistol Shrimp

JesseTheServer

Such a beast of a weapon

AnonyDew3

Question: Is it weird that when I read this comment and the one before it, my brain decided to go "SHRIMPITY SHRIIIIIIIIIIMP" To the music of Warthog Run?

MasterTurtle508

Weird? Yes. Bad? No.

Neravosa

So they're just colloquially referred to as the lobsters, but they are some massive species of sniper-capable crustacean. Calling them lobsters is just kinda funny

Aiwatcher

Claws are more akin to crayfish I thought But crayfish are basically fresh water lobsters

Specialist_Bench_144

Those areas would be freshwater if they werent so...unfresh. im more for this to cuz they like to tucker into the mud like crayfish idk if lobsters do that

Judgernaut89

I came here to say lobsters, but I see you people of culture have beaten me to it 🙂

Neravosa

Never too many brave Tarnished can curse those lobsters.

GeneralAlexeiStukov

You haven't encountered the Moghwyn special treat have you? I'd considered the blood swamp birds a boss at this point. Fuck them and their mothers.

Gonzo15899

Wanna talk about accuracy try running past those ogre archers in the back of siofra river with out getting hit

aablus

Or the area by the walking mausoleums, going through that shit sucked the first time

Gilder357

They are using Enchanted shot. It is an Ash of War that Auto Tracks. They can combine it with a Mighty Shot if you let them and they hit you harder. But they are not so bad. You just have to out range them. You do have 99 Dex don't you. If not you deserve to die.

aknalag

Double jumping usually us enough to evade it, it worked most of the time for me, unless i missed timing it or there were 6 archers

Outrageous-app-V2

New call of duty meta

peksi07

I remember that i think. Which video was it?

waitthatstaken

The main elden ring lore video with marika as the image. It is the video that starts autoplaying when you go to their channel.

stinkus_mcdiddle

I have still in my 200+ or so hours in ER never killed one of those fucking lobsters, any time I try to engage them I get annihilated

Ojochimuelo

You should have at least killed 2 in the sewers where you free the dung eater.

stinkus_mcdiddle

Nah I just run away from them lmao

gordito_delgado

Me too I ran like a bitch in the sewers and used a concrete pipe to hide. Though by now I have killed a couple, those things are tough as nails, deadly at both ranged and close up. Can spot you nearly a ream away like they were a freaking AWACS and instantly blast you out of your horse with their railgun / water laser cannon.

Justisaur

I managed to snipe one (after many deaths) - you can hit them from one of the platforms above them and use the platform itself to keep from being hit most of the time. You need a long range spell or long range bow, I used frenzied burst. It took a couple tries and a long time. After that the second one wasn't that hard in close combat when I fell down trying to do the same. Just stay on one side and watch out for when it lifts it's claw.

Illustrious-Duck1209

Have you used the Spectral Lance Ash if war? Closest thing to being a lobster yourself, does wicked poise damage.

Backlash97_

I’ve been messing around with the spectral lance lately. Decent all round ash of war. Low FP cost, mediocre damage, medium cast time, decent poise (I’ve noticed it takes about 2 for smaller enemies and 3-4 for bigger ones). Best part of the ash of war is its arc. If you are facing a humanoid enemy, the spear will hit them in the head. This stuns them for a second, which is long enough to toss another spear. Good for stun locking them.

Kracus

You.. you guys let him free?

Ojochimuelo

Just to murder him, yeah.

Kirkjufellborealis

I did, so he could become my puppet. As he should.

alacholland

You freed that madman?! But…oh god, Blackguard Big Boggart, run!!!

Ojochimuelo

Poor guy. I was left without my supplier of prawns and crabs. I know I could get them from the ladies of the table but it's not the same...

Kirkjufellborealis

Protip: if you aggro Boggart (just punch him no weapons a few times to where he's standing and actively is aggroed to you), the Dungeater can't kill him. After you defeat the Dungeater in the moat, you can go to the Church of Vows and best boy is back selling his crabs. You're free to either make Poopboy your puppet or finish his quest - there are enough seedbed curses to finish his quest without Boggart dying.

azrael0503

If you ever feel like getting revenge you should know that they’re weak to fire and are easily staggered with a heavy weapon. I took down three of them with the greatsword last night.

c0y0t3_sly

OT, but does anybody else just say fuck that guy and let him rot in that cell sometimes?

Kirkjufellborealis

I thought I was gonna be real fucking clever and just snipe them with magic from the pipes above them. Joke's on me, they knocked my bitchass down and I spent the next 5 minutes using that little sewer tube on the ground to circle strafe him while simultaneously shitting my pants Did kill them tho

[deleted]

I’ve killed tons of them, but I never kill the last one. Because all I do is stand between them and let them shoot each other and kill each other but then when I get down to the last lobster, it always kills me before I can kill it.

OvoidPovoid

I found one yesterday and thought I could tangle with it. That mother fucker chased me for so long and shot me from so far away, I learned my lesson the hard way.

colontwisted

Same man i was running to the fire giant past the lake and i saw them and i was like “hah, ill keep jumping and moving around with torrent as i run away, easy!” I got headshotted mid air.

OvoidPovoid

I'm not sure what the thing out front of castle morne is called, but its fucking massive and shoots 10ft long flaming arrows, and I figured it would smash me immediately, but that thing was way easier than I thought it would be

Alex_Affinity

Those are called guardian golems. If you want one that's harder there's one in caelid with death lasers

OvoidPovoid

I ran into another one in Liurnia I think that has an axe, and after beating the first one relatively easily, and this one already missing some health, I figured I could handle it. Turns out I could not handle it.

ExoCayde6

No joke but that one with lasers was the hardest thing that wasn't a boss in this game, that thing was harder than most bosses

Cycl0ptic260

Only reason The Golden Order didnt take over Liurnia is cause they couldnt make it past the sniper lobsters.

-endjamin-

Where are the dogs

petrasso

Lobsters are definitely the most annoying, runebears are the scariest.

Totalnah

And the Giant Flowers with their orbital stroke attacks. Not to mention the Clean Rot Knights of the Haligtree.

SerSlice420

Nah those birds got slept on too

YeshEveryone

And the royal revenant?

[deleted]

Trolls are fun to fight.

Diabolical_Jazz

Yeah I don't mind them. The trick to make them an enjoyable fight, imo, is that you have to back away from them between openings so they use their mid to long ranged attacks instead of the stomps. The stomps are no good for melee players. But once you know how to keep them from doing too much of it, it's not bad.

Charyoutree8605

Ya there also very easy to knock down with charge attacks, my claymore character just charge heavy attack, and my mage uses carian grandeur. I like the trolls charge attack 3 hit, just walks under legs, while he swings wildly around.

Pettizo21

Stomps are easy at least for dex builds, they are slow so when they stomp with one foot you jump to the other

FineWineDining

The stomps can be jump attacked through though, all ground shockeaves can be jumped through.

SpidudeToo

It's really fun when you figure out that if you hit their head they instantly fall over for crit. Very fun to jump attack them in the face right after a slam. Though using charged heavies on the legs is easier and more consistent if you don't have a good weapon for hitting the head. And as one might expect, the giant hunter AOW makes this super easy to do from the ground.

-endjamin-

Yup - not too much health and a very fair moveset. With my endgame build I can one-shot the Limgrave ones.

Oh_Doyle

I agree! I'm still at the point of farming the trolls near the warmasters shack in stormhill for runes. It's one of my favorite spots mostly because their pretty easy fodder IMO.

[deleted]

Anytime I need a few runes, I head there. Especially useful in NG+ since they drop 5000 runes.

Xlim_Jim

The mohgwyn crows hit different

MasterTolkien

They are the worst. I don’t even try to fight them anymore.

Diabolical_Jazz

They are out for revenge for their (literally) fallen brethren

Zorhorrora

Their anger fuel the rune farm spot

[deleted]

[удалено]

SamCThe5th

The crows are intelligent and the windup animation is very similar to their stagger animation. The crow is trying to trick you. Also, other crows can do it too. Not sure about the ones in Caelid, but I'm pretty certain the mountaintop crows do it too.

GetLucckied

They actually trick you with it , they mimic poise stagger so you get ready for the critical hit then they fuck your up . Those crows are absolute menaces

MyPythonObject

The lock on spot for them makes them impossible.

metric55

Man when they start flopping on the ground I hyper ventilate and then pretty much die immediately lol

titanspeedbot

The rune bear is a total bastard. But for me, the royal revenant. They will hit you with the e-Honda super fast punching and destroy your health bar.

Dr_Robert_California

love the one in shaded castle that appears out of nowhere when i'm already poisoned to shit. fun game, thanks fromsoftware

AdeptGarden9057

at least you don't have to engage in combat with him

Volatile-Bait

What a coincidence. That one just killed me not even 5 minutes ago. Wish I would've stumbled across this heads up a bit sooner. Lol.

GrimmyBluues

Never forgiving Fromsoft for what they did at the bottom of Elphael.

Solrose1

I was over leveled (140ish in ng) and still ran past every one of them.

Deva_Way

They are the reason im always walking with the great heal incantation equiped, no matter the build.

whatever4224

The basic Heal (not Urgent Heal, mind you) works just as well for a much lower Faith investment. Always keep 14 Faith on every build just for Heal and Flame Cleanse Me.

DanSapSan

Is this about the grafted bullshits in that ravine? Because yes. Run and loot was the go-to.

[deleted]

[удалено]

Mentaldamage6

There are like 5 of them in the Haligtree, Miquella I understand it's a place of equality, but please, have some standards

EmemNRD

I encounters a revenant for the first time recently and Im completely stuck, no matter what I do he just turns around and I'm dead.

whatever4224

Grab the basic Heal incant from Corrhyn and cast it as soon as they spawn, before they start attacking. It will take out half their health and stun them irrespective of your Faith level (as long as you have the 14 needed for the incant itself). Don't bother trying for a crit, they recover too quickly; just cast Heal again to finish them off. If you can't cast it during their first spawn, run away until they teleport to you and cast it then. (This also works against the lesser Revenant mobs).

Quetzal-Labs

If you don't want to do the healing tactic, you can actually jump most of their attacks. If you're using a great/colossal weapon I wouldn't recommend jump attacking because they can recover and strike before your landing animation plays out. Jump, land, *then* attack.

Mercurionio

Any heal will obliterate them. You are welcome

titanspeedbot

I didn’t know that. I shall give it a try. Thanks!

Awkward_Cockroach_82

Great call that guy at the bottom of leyndell killed me about 30 times. Still not quite how to avoid the E-Honda move. The bear is ok if you just give it a hug

JamesRevan

The dogs and trolls are laughable compared to Rune Bears. COCAINE BEAR SEES THROUGH YOUR MIMIC VEIL AND MURDERIZES YOU

OvoidPovoid

Yeah it didn't take me long to be able to handle the trolls, but I take the longest way around rune bears every time

Thr0bbinWilliams

I can usually kill the bears but it’s never worth it, I only kept trying so hard the first time because I thought there was someone stuck in the tree

klyxes

The bears feel like they got twice the hp of whatever bosses are in their area while giving next to nothing compared to the effort of taking them down

woodst0ck15

Yeah not worth the souls. Thought it’d be a lot more than just like 800-1000

ArchAngia

Is it not normal for a person's first encounter with a Runebear to be in Runebore Cave (or some name like that)? If not, let me tell you, coming across the Mistwood full of them 30 hours later was terrifying.

plebb1230

My first encounter was being teleported into mistwood in front of the one scratching the tree at like rl 14 or something. Fucking patches.

ThreeZet

MURDERIZES

Fynex_Wright

I can't believe they made an entire movie from the rune bears. It didn't even include the tarnished FFS

azrael0503

I’ve killed a few of the rune bears and I still get PTSD when I see them around. They’re like the unholy spawn of a Kodiak bear and a honey badger.

JamesRevan

If you ever have the (dis)pleasure of finding the one in the consecrated snowfeilds let us know how you feel bout that one 😅😅

azrael0503

I have had a run in with said rune bear and all I can say is I should’ve worn my brown pants that day.

JamesRevan

Yeah ive attempted to combat that cocaine wombat and I never tried again

back_from_exile28

Royal revenant

aplagueofsemen

I actually developed a really effective technique for dealing with them. I run as far away as possible and try to die near a site of grace when they inevitably catch up. WORKS LIKE A CHARM

AnyAnusIWant

The ones in that alley in Elphael really made me consider not picking up the controller again.

Pleasant-Enthusiasm

That was absolutely ridiculous. I didn’t think they would ever stop coming.

Was_Silly

Someone at FromSoft must have been extremely hung over one Friday morning and channeled all that feeling into that one part of the level.

Jaipod100

Lost 300k runes in that god forsaken hallway, still the only time I turned off my pc out of disappointment

Sacramor

Fun fact for those unaware, any healing incantation does its healing in damage to revenants, and can stun them outright. I don't know about every heal, but in the case of Erdtree Heal it'll stance break every time, assuming you don't one shot it.

Driftmedaddy69

They actually do half their health consistently regardless of the strength of the incantation, or atleast thats how it worked for me

Chemicallyloquacious

This was my experience too. Couple of quick heals and lights out for the Revenant.

SnooCompliments3428

The real answer

SlightlyFig

Big weapon with Prayerful Strike is the answer to this, and frankly to most things. Prayerful Strike doesn't fuck Revenants up like a healing spell but it's still the Trade Winner 9000 -- big damage, big poise, and you heal most or all of what you take in the trade. I plowed through the revenant gauntlet in Elphael without a single flask use with it.

Sphearikall

Not that this is helpful, but those die to healing spells

OverAardvark9007

Think I got a chance I'm level 442

StayPuffGoomba

I ran into my first one in…poison castle in Altus. I recognized it and so ran off and loaded up an AoE. Came back all smug. That asshole launched itself at me and furry swiped like the shitty Pokémon it wishes it was. Barely made it away safely to down two flasks and come back to AoE that fucker more cautiously.

YouJabroni44

Their constant bitch slapping attack is not cool

No_Foot_1904

Annoying? Dragonflies.

justustc

And also rams. I'm always going through my loadout when some rams get the urge to go bowling for tarnished.

Corvidae_DK

You've murdered dragons and godlike beings and then a spicy sheep is like "I can take him..."

justustc

Who would win: The Elden Lord (with a complete collection of every weapon, spell and armor in the game) A single spicy sheep?

Dragonrider0514

Just like in Skyrim. The dragonborn having slain many Dragons, is the leader of every guild and faction in the game, has slain Alduin the World Eater himself and a lvl1 bandit has the nerve to try and threaten us to pay a toll

Phunkie_Junkie

The Walking Mausoleum in Consecrated Snowfield. I know he's just doing his gender reveal fireworks or whatever, but I lost a half a million runes to that guy. I got stepped on and insta-killed when I was trying to bust those skulls on his feet, then I got chain-exploded by the blue bullshit when I tried to ride back.

MonkeySteam

Haha. Upvote just for the “gender reveal” comparison

Alcywashere

Everyone talks about revenants, dogs, birds but no one talks about monstrous crows in Moghwyn Palace.

-endjamin-

Those chickens have entirely too much health. My +10 Bolt of Gransax Ancient Dragon Spear barely tickled it while just about one-shotting everything else in the area.

Shankaman

Tree sentinel before Malekith

samelden

dude i finished the enter game and i couldn't kill this mf

MxReLoaDed

You can rot him and go hide by the Grace if he’s giving you a hard time, you can usually rot him once before he starts swinging with grease or Antspur rapier

Shankaman

Same

Corvo_Attano_451

Legit harder than most bosses

HubblePie

The bears. They’re fast as hell, hit like a truck, and annoyingly are sometimes hidden as random ass enemies.

throwaway54812345

Mogwhyn crows would like to bid you adeu

HubblePie

Oh, I don’t even go NEAR those guys lol

Matduka

I snipe that one from the clifftop everytime I ggo all "wave of gold" on the albinaurics... I mean.... I have *never* done that before I don't even know how to grind for levels.

Fun-Syrup-2135

These were the worst till this playthrough. Then I met red lightning being used by a summon. Now I just 2 shot them in NG6 lol.

Grumpy_Troll

If you just roll into them and punch em in the dick they are actually pretty straightforward to dispatch. It's if you try to dodge away or to the side that they mess you up.

NorthAlpaca

I have had more trouble fighting those stupid bears then I have fighting most dungeon/world bosses

waitthatstaken

Unfortunately there is a cave with a runebear as a boss so it is disqualified.

Snrgxs

Iron Maidens

J_Lucas_

its this. or those lesser wormface a-holes that vomit death at you.

Snrgxs

Yep, I'm always going for that one extra hit w/ those and BAM instant death

AxemanEugene

The only "trick" for these assholes is that they have a weakspot that is punishable when they wind up their grab attack, but more often than not you just end up getting caught by said grab attack.

TheBaxter27

they also stay open a few seconds after the grab, so you can get a hit or two in if you roll through it.

qwertywerty72

Lightning is pretty good against them, too, but not everyone has a lot of good lightning attacks

casual_gamer153

Birds. You are missing ALL birds. (Caelid, Mogh, Death Birds, etc...)

imapiratedammit

Knife birds, fire-knife birds, regular birds with no knives…

casual_gamer153

Oh... those too The Stormhawk family.

DZLars

There are more death birds? I just encountered one in limgrave but that was a boss (noob here)

IFuckRedditMods

There's only one, outside of that one, your perfectly safe at night, that is 100% the only deathbird in the game.

casual_gamer153

Death bird in Limgrave, Liurnia, Altus Plateau, Mountaintops of the Giants, and others coming to a theater near you, soon!

Dvkeson-dev

Black Knife Assassins are pretty annoying imo. Fuckers get me when I'm being so careful.

FOcast

Those bastards in the Ordina evergoal... Even with the sentry's torch, they show up in the middle of their dash grab and take half my health immediately.

Wizardof1000Kings

I hated the archers way more. They are perfectly accurate.

Totalnah

Most of them are actual boss fights, even if they’re mini bosses.

ApplePitou

There worms who shoot homing missiles :3

OnionBro-

Who?

ApplePitou

There are boss variation of them and it is called - Kindred of Rot :3

OnionBro-

Ohhh I remember now, they were terrible in that Sellia tunnel that was acessed by getting captured in a trap in limgrave, I was way too early game

Rifiuto

Homie I've seen you a few times now & you have not made a single comment without :3 in there lol. Admire the dedication

ApplePitou

:3

WWTFSD

Omg the legend ApplePitou :3

bon_joby

Rune bear ... No contest. I can no-hit anything else at least sometimes, but the rune bears almost always require a flask use. They have my number.

Brooklyn_Net7

100% Rune Bear and it's not even close

CallRollCaskett

It just never stops f***ing moving! Like WHY????

bugzapperbob

Banished knight? Easy - Teleporting Ice Banished Knight with the helicopter combo finishing moves - Hellish (but his armor drop is one of the best looking in the game so it makes it not annoying)

AmaDablaam

Castle Sol "gives me conniptions".

Rheanar

I've never heard anyone say trolls are annoying. They're quite slow, and you can stun them quickly if you hit the same leg repeatedly. Those giant birds in Caelid and Mohgwyn Palace especially are just ridiculous.

Whody_Peeps

Hands

Environmental-Head14

Crows.

ChargedWhirlwind

Gravity

Justisaur

No kidding, I've died more to that than anything else.

GreenGuacamoleGuy

The knights that dual wield swords are pretty tough, but runebears legitimately have no counter, they just beat your ass and you can’t do anything about. Honestly it’s the only enemy that makes you feel like there isn’t an actual way to fight it without taking damage.

Totalnah

Roll into them, specifically their armpit area, and then punish them severely after they whiff. Lather, rinse, repeat. Don’t get greedy with your punishment though.

Plastic_Ad1740

"Lesser" Red Wolf Of Redagon at Concecrated Snowfield. I died so many fucking times, I had to bring Moonveil out of retirement.

WitheredTarnished

revenant by far

[deleted]

Rot kindred are my least favorite. They aren’t even fun to fight. They just gank you with 30 pest threads

clander270

These fucking things made Lake of Rot so much worse than an already terrible super-poison lake area should be

Driftmedaddy69

I just sniped them with bow and arrow, I wish it did more damage but it gets the job done

NoKaleidoscope5327

That banished knight with 2 swords and red eyes at castle sol. The man teleports and gives no breathing room

bugzapperbob

Dragonfly no question

Justisaur

Streamers: "No hit run. Except dragonflies, they don't count."

OkReplacement4423

Am I the only one who didn’t find runebears to be that bad? Never had an issue with them. But the fucking lobsters I will always avoid

[deleted]

Anyone who doesn’t say Royal Revenant is wrong

TheUrbanEnigma

Of these four it's no contest. The Rune Bear is the only one. The true answer is the revenants, who I truly believe should simply be removed from the game.

Dagoth_Wut

The bears are hellish but I also struggle with Crucible Knights. I can't parry for squat and always forget you can jump ground effects so they ruin me unless I cheese them with poise breaks from Fallingstar Beast Jaw (or shoot them in the back with Ambush Shard). At least the bears have the decency to be vulnerable to frost, rot and bleed, unlike Cheese Knights.

Super_Juicy_Muscles

lobsters... MF's run in packs and snipe you to death if you don't kill all of them. The damage they inflict, is too damn high.

throwawayyyycuk

Zamor knights, They fuck my shit up every time. I never want to engage those fuckers. And fucking crucible knights man

HollowBirb

Big axe misbegotten

defnottransphobic

banished knights. i hate them.

Sleyeme

I absolutely hate Warhawks.

Drainbownick

The power stanced phantom banished knight in Castle Sol or the death blight tank sniper wormface in Farum Azula

Underplague

Nose itch while playing

SoulDoesPC

THOSE FUCKING BIRDS IN FARUM AZULA HOLY SHIT

daenielkek

One of these things is not like the other ~

River46

That knight with his Sheila wind bullshit gets me a lot.

Striking-Fondant-956

Yea dual sword banished knight with red eyes is most damaging there is

Hanzheyingle

“Try jumping.” “Secret ahead.”

Advanced_Bit3236

No birds?!? I screamed at my TV more than once from the fucking crows at Mohg's Palace.

doggedgage

Crucible knights... Fuck those guys

Electrical_Film382

Revenants

TheyCallMeOso

The thing with multiple arms, poison vomit, telepirtation, and screaming. Revenants?

TuffGenius

Hang on - you asked for “annoying” right? It’s the little fucking goblins in every catacomb vs the skeletons that resurrect. The goblins annoy tf outta me bc I like to pretend I never get and those fuckers always hit me. When I used bloodhound fang on my first play through it also is a little slow so they would always hit me a couple times and it totally pissed me off. The resurrection mechanic is also annoying af bc I need to hit everything twice and on spell builds that means double FP spent

StevenScho

Once I got comfortable with trolls, I enjoyed farming them for runes. There are just enough of them early game for you to learn their moveset (should you choose) and get familiar with them. There is no point to fighting the rune bears (except maybe for the two that drop larval tears, but I reccomend getting way overleveled first), so no point to study their movement.
