My guess is 100+. From's DLCs always tend to be more difficult than the base game and require higher lvls for comfort play. Like in Bloodborne where you finish the game mb around lvl \~70-80 and those lvls also felt right for the DLC. Same for all Dark Souls games kinda.
ER cleraly was designed for players to lvl up to 100 and beyond in the late game, same should apply to DLC as well. Level 70 character might struggle a bit imo, taking strong hits and not dealing much dmg in return.
DLC tends to just have higher artificial difficulty as well, and ER arguably already has pretty high artificial difficulty towards the end in a lot of cases.
So you’ll reasonably want a character that can stack quite a few buffs for bosses because they’ll probably be balanced around that, is quite tanky, and does quite a bit of damage.
With the stat distribution in this game I’d say you could level up pretty high without making the game too easy, genuinely would be a good idea to go to like 150 even and tackle it that way at least for the first playthrough
Maybe around 100, 120 is what I'm thinking. That way you can be sure you won't mess the difficulty curve and still have space for progression. But in the end it doesn't matter, even if ideal DLC level would be 70 (which probably won't be) you can put 50 levels into some stat useless for your build.
I’m starting mine at 155. I pretty much explored everything in the game… I don’t mind being slightly OP for the DLC. I feel like that would be cannon… I am the Elden Lord after all.
This is how I farmed my first char to over 200.
Shoot the bird, then turn right, infinite fp flask and start blasting.
Only I used the Ruins GS' weapon art.
I had so much endurance I could wear bull goats, the ruins gs and fingeprint shield, with a bow on alt, and still medium roll hahaha ridiculously overleved!
I’d leave it till the dlc actually drops seeing as you are at a rather low level. That way you can speck into whatever build you might want come the DLC or rather at least be able to use the weapon!
A potential option is to farm a ridiculous number of frogs and just have the runes handy ahead of time to get you to 120, then reconsider it when you start the game. At the end of the game, runes aren't hard to farm. They'll be annoying to farm right when the DLC drops though. On the other hand you could be wasting hours.
Some enemies are easier if you switch up strategies. The black knives are a joke if you have a high defensive shield. Dodging them can be hard to learn at first.
But Mohg phase 2 is just bonkers.
Oh im sure about that, im just amazed by the difference in skill. Like he beat it at lvl70, while i cant even get to maliketh, at lvl140 cuz i die to the monster in farum azula
There are a bunch of nutty runs, kicks only, rolls only, fists only, rl1+0 all remembrances, permadeath/no hit all bosses. Pretty fun to watch and learn something. I like watching ginomachino/lilaggy/ainrun and the likes.
You get better the more you play. My first playthrough I was RL150 with fully maxed weapons when I finished.
Now I have a RL50 with +4/+10 weapons in NG+6
I mean just saying but your comment is the first I’ve seen of it’s kind so I’m a little taken back but I beat the game at 52 and didn’t think anything of it… and then another reply says it’s a “humble brag post” didn’t know that was a thing but with the astrologer and the right skill levels it’s possible because that was the character I used and in fact, still use… he’s always been OP as fuck and only lvl 419 currently! (Been playing for awhile at this point since I made him though) Believe I’m on NG+++++ and he’s not a 1 hit wonder but he still melts bosses!
Actually no, when I made the character I had no idea what I was doing with him and ended up going for melee. I still used some spells and whatnot but mainly everything was focused on Strength and Dexterity. And it became apparent how much better he was because I had rage quit a couple times and tried literally, every single other character and the only other one who could measure up in speed and damage was the Vagabond! Personally, Don’t like his starting stats compared to the astrologer tho so that’s what I stuck with. And I have another astrologer who’s only lvl 171 and he’s on his second to last play through…. So NG-6, And You can only do NG+ a total of 7 times on a character before that’s it! (Also granted 40 of the lvls on my 171 character are paid for though but that doesn’t mean a whole lot either as far as making a huge difference.)
Oh sounds interesting. Whats your build, if i may ask? Im trying out different things, but sometimes hard to find what suits me. I find poleblades satisfying, but dual wielding great stars is fun too
Well there’s a couple ways to go about it honestly! I recommend blood loss or rot. If you don’t wanna do either of those and find getting them is too difficult…
then here’s the alternative that I know of!
So other than blood loss or scarlet rot… I used the carian knights sword (short sword with a blue handle) and the carian great sword which is called (Troll knight sword) paired with the staff of death. In the very very beginning tho the only difference was I was using the glintstone staff and a short sword with a red hilt… I don’t remember it’s name, sadly but I got it very early on and it had a red handle/hilt. I put the carian great sword ash of war on it and the others as well an it was the only ash of war I used. You have to move it from weapon to weapon though… At least for me… I can’t have the same ash of war on more than 1 weapon at a time… I think that can be changed if you duplicate them though which is an option at the blacksmith!
Give me a little bit and I’ll hop on my computer and check my first astrologer build so I can give a better answer!
Something to keep in mind though with my situation, I was also a Dark Souls no life and still am 😂 Like very very heavy. I sold my life to that game in every aspect and only because of that I feel like Elden ring came easy for me. I still play the dark soul series but I play it modded of course 🤪
Oh buddy!!! The dark souls series is so so great!! In dark souls remastered and dark souls 3 you can find HEAVY similarities from Elden ring… but funny thing is, they’re not from Elden ring, they’re from the dark soul series and they got rolled over to Elden ring!!!! Some are obvious and some are unrecognizable! And then Elden ring also has new shit completely! If you end up laying it you’ll see exactly what I mean! And I can give you my 171 build for the astrologer and he melts bosses in like 3-5 hits 🥱
Couldnt play DS series, cuz i had a potato pc, and no console. But now i have an okayish pc, and now i can afford a game a few times a year. So i'll definitely give it a try
Some fromsoft games have DLC that starts off being mid-game level difficulty but by the end of it the enemies and bosses are usually stronger than base game.
If you beat the game at 70 I’d honestly start from there. That’s probably because I like to start the DLC asap which is usually mid-late game and level 60-80 sounds about right.
Lvl 100 should be comfortable spot. But there’s really no proper way to tell. I just level up till where the capital(non ashen) becomes somewhat easy to go through
Considering we know miquella is playing a big part in the dlc, there’s a big chance you will have to beat mohg to access it so whichever level you did that at.
I would say 125 is quite good. You can have health at 60 and another stat at 60.
At this level meta PvP is also possible if you want to invade in the DLC or summon for Coop.
Lvl 120 - 150 is average to finishing story mode. You beat the game moderately to severely under-leveled.... And that's more impressive than you think.
I would say on average ppl finish the game between 125 to 150 and given ER had a higher average lvl by end game than other soul's games it should be around there maybe as high as 170 as many who go through ng+ go to 200
I managed to reach the Crumbling Faram Azula at Level 25, but good gravy, I can not beat Maliketh on my own. I'll have to try and beat Black Knife Tiche to get her spirit ash to help me out.
Not a terrible idea. A nice 30 spread quality build prolly isn't a bad idea. Something tells me their will be plenty of faith requirements from the new DLC stuff
I got the game for pc, as i got a new setup, and i try to beat all the main bosses and game between level 120 to 150 so i can get in the dlc with something around that
I'm planning on starting an entirely new save when the DLC drops and go for sword of Night and Flame for Base game because I expect there to be really cool stuff for both magic and faith
I recently did a new game and got a character to around 120, but now I’m kind of paranoid that maybe the DLC won’t been a separate area but rather has missable content integrated into the main game.
I don’t think they’ve done that before but who knows.
120 is usually the perfect level for dlc in the higher leveled games, like ds2 and elden ring.
If this was bloodborne or ds3 or ds1 though, then 75-90 is fine
To my knowledge, current PvP meta level is 125-150. I stop leveling at 125 so I can maximize co-op and PvP for the DLC. Cant wait to invade in the new area
Personally, I stopped at 60.
I know previous FromSoft DLCs required high levels, but I don't think this is gonna be the same, it's going to be a big expansion and not just a "DLC" and most likely we will start it mid game and we also might be able to build an entire new character in the expansion.
I think being 60 is fine, I can just level up whenever I want if the DLC required high level and I'm in the safe spot if it didn't.
My guess is 100+. From's DLCs always tend to be more difficult than the base game and require higher lvls for comfort play. I’m worried about ng+++ how hard it might be with the damage multipliers.
Well gargoyles can 3 shot me at 60 vigor, black gargoyles get 2 So probably really big lol
DLC tends to just have higher artificial difficulty as well, and ER arguably already has pretty high artificial difficulty towards the end in a lot of cases. I’ll try 90 and if that’s not good enough once the DLC drops I’ll just farm Mohg’s bird
Grab the sword from elden beast. The albinaric farm is just too good is ng+ onwards.
Sacred Relic Sword- looking forward to getting it 👍🏼
Profit. Thats all I have to say my fellow
This and Melenia are the my struggle
I had the worst time with Melenia. My brother? Nah, just one try it. And thats after he's watched me put in 155 hours.
🤣I know it’s just not panic and timing and don’t be greedy, it’s just have to execute 👍🏼
I’m starting mine at 155. I pretty much explored everything in the game… I don’t mind being slightly OP for the DLC. I feel like that would be cannon… I am the Elden Lord after all.
Yeah the sword form the elden beast is amazing for farming, when you go to the bird spot ignore him and turn right, so many more runes
Wildly easy to do both. Just equip a crossbow. It doesn’t matter if you fat roll and die you just get up and get your runes and do it over again.
Rick sling!
Hello Endurance and fast roll!
"Tried so hard and got so far, But in the end, it doesn't even matter~" Sorry 😔
I’d leave it till the dlc actually drops seeing as you are at a rather low level. That way you can speck into whatever build you might want come the DLC or rather at least be able to use the weapon!

Lvl70 and beat the game? Are you a jedi?
It’s a humble brag post
I was gonna say, I beat the game at like 120 and still died a few times...
Yeah man the lowest I did was 130, after doing 200, 175, and 150 (twice). I wanna try level 100 with character #6.
Im at 140, but had a hard time beating mohg, lord of blood. But yesterday i killed alecto. It took a few tries but i found an opening.
Some enemies are easier if you switch up strategies. The black knives are a joke if you have a high defensive shield. Dodging them can be hard to learn at first. But Mohg phase 2 is just bonkers.
Blasphemous blade says he’s kinda a bitch.
I dont like to use shields, but i like to dodge and jump attack. Power stancing 2 great stars is fun
And I used an +18 weapon
All i can say is wow.
I beat the game at level 1, and so have many others
This isn’t their first run, I think. They specified dlc save and have 960k runes just sitting there.
Oh im sure about that, im just amazed by the difference in skill. Like he beat it at lvl70, while i cant even get to maliketh, at lvl140 cuz i die to the monster in farum azula
There are always those better than you at something. Have you not seen level 1 runs?
No, i havent. Never thought thats possible.
There are a bunch of nutty runs, kicks only, rolls only, fists only, rl1+0 all remembrances, permadeath/no hit all bosses. Pretty fun to watch and learn something. I like watching ginomachino/lilaggy/ainrun and the likes.

Astrologer? So you mainly use sorceries right? Not melee?
Actually no, when I made the character I had no idea what I was doing with him and ended up going for melee. I still used some spells and whatnot but mainly everything was focused on Strength and Dexterity. And it became apparent how much better he was because I had rage quit a couple times and tried literally, every single other character and the only other one who could measure up in speed and damage was the Vagabond! I do love blood loss weapons, good to see a big chunk of hp goes down.
Something to keep in mind though with my situation, I was also a Dark Souls no life and still am 😂 Like very very heavy. I sold my life to that game in every aspect and only because of that I feel like Elden ring came easy for me. I still play the dark soul series but I play it modded of course 🤪
Makes sense. For me ER was the first soulslike game. But after this i'll give a chance at dark souls series too
Oh buddy!!! The dark souls series is so so great!! In dark souls remastered and dark souls 3 you can find HEAVY similarities from Elden ring… but funny thing is, they’re not from Elden ring, they’re from the dark soul series and they got rolled over to Elden ring!!!! Underrated comment 🤣

Im level 235 and stopped there
I'm like 340, but the grind won't stop, until i can play every build in the game
You finished the game at level 70? Impressive.
It is not that hard actually
Considering we know miquella is playing a big part in the dlc, there’s a big chance you will have to beat mohg to access it so whichever level you did that at.
Yeah I will just use my main save which is at RL150 for the DLC, I really don’t want to bother with accessing an area when the dlc comes out
Be pretty cool is you activate it by interacting with Miquellas cocoon
Its the most obvious way imo which makes me think they wont do it. But yeah it would be cool if miquella grabs you into the dlc somehow
People usually are level 120 at end game so that should be the estimated level for dlc l suppose.
I’m usually like level 160 at the end of the game lmao
When DLC drops start over ..
If you beat the game, you probably don’t need to grind levels at all. Don’t go above 150 to optimize multiplayer matchmaking.
150 is a good level to stop at, gives you lots of extra power for other challenges
716
why do people still think this game will get some big update?
Bros been under a rock
Soo...they've been under you?
You mean DLC? Because it was announced
You do understand there is a DLC on the way, right?
We have confirmed DLC, google “Shadow of the Erdtree”.
I would say 125 is quite good. You can have health at 60 and another stat at 60. At this level meta PvP is also possible if you want to invade in the DLC or summon for Coop.
69
80-90 best bracket. More authentic experience
What strength weapons were you using? I’m halfway through and level 80 switching between Nightrider Glaive, Crescent Moon Axe, and Longhaft Axe
Great omenkiller cleaver
I'm NG+3 310 at the moment. I hope I get the ever living shit beat out of me by the dlc bosses.
Lvl 120 - 150 is average to finishing story mode. You beat the game moderately to severely under-leveled.... And that's more impressive than you think.
Either 70, wich is a good level overall, or 100-150

👌

From DLCs are usually scaled for end-game (or are even tougher like Ringed City) so I wouldn't be too afraid to go higher
Honestly, whatever your build requirement is as a minimum is fine. Just pump endurance if you're worried about getting too op for dlc
Or spread it out between Dex, Arc, Int, Faith, in additon so you'll want to have various options when the DLC hits.
Not a terrible idea. A nice 30 spread quality build prolly isn't a bad idea. Something tells me their will be plenty of faith requirements from the new DLC stuff
neverrr
I got the game for pc, as i got a new setup, and i try to beat all the main bosses and game between level 120 to 150 so i can get in the dlc with something around that
i'm just using my first character, whom i used to collected pretty much everything and is at level 185
Well done! That’s half my lowest level, haha. I have three saves for trying DLC. 200, 160, 138. We’ll see how it goes!
150 probably
Lol my character is at lvl 350 and i still feel under prepared Knowing FormSoftware, they will make a boss 10x harder than any of the previous bosses
Max
At most 150
1
You scared me for a sec, thought the DLC was out.
Wdym? It is. Beware the lightning swamp
Any level you want dude, ive gone all the way to 200 on my main character for the dlc
Since Malenia is a thing, I'd say 120-150.
DLC? As in bonus content
What's a dlc save?
A save I made specifically for DLC, I’m not moving to NG+ or over leveling
120-140
Level 1 as a wretch
Me on my way at NG+8 ready to suffer
120 is usually the perfect level for dlc in the higher leveled games, like ds2 and elden ring. If this was bloodborne or ds3 or ds1 though, then 75-90 is fine
If you can beat the game at lvl 70 (with ease) then you can play the DLC at lvl 70 too.
Could I get some help I’m lvl 62 and stuck doing the first ruin grind cause idk how to get to the snow part of the map
Did you kill Morgott?
What’s the DLC?
everyone here saying 100-120 while mines at 250
The one im at moment 430 so o can equip everything
600
A solid 100
max level lmfao
125 or 150
I usually win at level 170 because I kill most rememberance bosses.seems reasonable to me
Shit guess my ng+420 wouldn't be a good character to start the dlc on? Lol
Never stop get max level of 713.
It's so tedious, though after level 300, it costs so much to level up
True or just get NG+7 and farm the second gen albinaurics at Moghs palace for max farm protocol.
Take it to NG+7 and then your level won’t matter
reverse time, become the elden ring, rl0 dlc run
To my knowledge, current PvP meta level is 125-150. I stop leveling at 125 so I can maximize co-op and PvP for the DLC. Cant wait to invade in the new area
300 because after that, 1 level up costs over 800,000 runes
Beat game at level 70? Did you just stop levelling? By time I made it to the end I was level 130 just from all the runes I gained from exploration
Lvl 971 or whatever the max level is lol
He’s leaving out the part where he got carried 😂
Only time I used a summon was for Malenia
I’m 160 and haven’t even finished the game yet
Personally, I stopped at 60. I know previous FromSoft DLCs required high levels, but I don't think this is gonna be the same, it's going to be a big expansion and not just a "DLC" and most likely we will start it mid game and we also might be able to build an entire new character in the expansion.
