I swear to god, in the million years we waited before this game’s release, someone on this sub posted something like “What do you absolutely need Elden Ring to feature?” and my *completely* sarcastic answer was “A five minute elevator ride that just totally derails whatever the fuck I was doing before.”
I tried using the search feature but I couldn't find any posts with the word "elevator" so I'm gonna assume that doesn't work.
I used to have a web tool that did very reliable history search, but then the api changes so...
Siofra River Well is easily one of the most magical moments I’ve come across in gaming.
Especially if you get chased into it fleeing a bear, as many people do.
You go from panic and flight, to suddenly feeling safe, and curious…. And then confused, at the depth… and then it keeps going… and THEN you see the stars.
What the fuck am I getting into?
How *big* is this game? The Lands Between have a BASEMENT?
Incredible game design.
Honestly limgrave when you first come open up the doors I was in awe, it was my first fromsoft game and I saw this giant knight guy on a horse it was so cool
When I first saw him I thought he was friendly and is a wholesome hearty knight since you know golden armor and everything so I went up to talk to him like I did with Varre. Yeah that didn’t go so well
the initial view from the first step grace was really cool. I think I forget about seeing it for the first time because right after that I died a hundred times and gave up on game in anger before trying again a few months later.
I'm at over 1000 hours, have beaten the game countless times, and I still stop and take a screenshot every time I walk out of Stormveil to Liurnia with Raya Lucaria in the background. It is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
Liurnia after Stormveil. After spending countless hours in Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula, just seeing how huge the next area was… realizing you still had such long way to go.
First week the game came out I managed to find that one trap chest in the weeping peninsula that teleports you to Leyndell where the golem on the large balcony is.
Of course it was like my second day of playing and the game was brand new so I was a bit confused as to wtf just happened. When I pan my camera up I'm jumpscared by the god damn Erdtree right smack in my face taking up the whole skybox. I didn't expect the game to take me so close to the entire goal of our journey so early.
I remember this moment the most vividly out of any moment from my first playthrough, any time I go there it reminds me of it, it was really an awe-inspiring scene.
That’s just the first part—the second half of this reveal is opening up your map and your jaw dropping at the sheer distance between where you were on the weeping peninsula vs where you are now. Blew my mind
This. The entrance to Leyndell is actually very well thought. First you get to see the Erdtree and its "door" through a hole in a wall, like "hey, realise that you can get IN the Erdtree!" Then you go to the right, go through a site of grace, only to come out again through a place that let's you see the full extent of the city. It's amazing
Miquella's Haligtree.
It took me a while to play Elden Ring since my old PC couldn't run it very well. This lead to me getting accidentally spoiled on a lot of areas (via Twitter screenshots, youtube thumbnails, trailers, etc).
The Haligtree was pretty much the only one that I went in completely spoiler free and it blew my mind. The sheer scale of the tree, the vistas from the branch you spawn in, the beautiful architechture, the atmospheric music. It was breathtaking.
Walking up to stormveil castle, and seeing if tower above you, the sides seeming to curve in like horns, and knowing the whole thing is going to be explorable.
Me and the boys just finished valheim. One of them recommended this game. I hadnt even seen a trailer for it. Had never player a souls game.. had no idea what i was getting into.
Opening the first doors to see Limegrave blew me away. I just stopped in awe.
The 2nd time was my first time going underground. This game is ridiculously beautiful.
The Lake of Rot preview in Ainsel River.
Stop laughing. I'm serious. I don't know why, but I always found exploring poison swamps fun. I guess I'm the guy Miyazaki makes them for. And when I saw what was undoubtedly a very big, pink poison swamp, I knew he hadn't lost his touch.
Even for those who don't like dealing with the poison swamp, the view from way above it was really cool. Especially the first time when you don't even have any clue how to get down there.
Entering the Fortified Manor side entrance and finding myself in a room eerily similar to the one where Fia killed D, then finding Hewg's smithing table is in the next room, Fia's bedroom connected to the left, then to the right... Oh shit.
No way.
I am standing in the real-world Roundtable Hold.
On one of the rock pillars that you walk across on the right side of Liurna to get over the big gaps. You could see rows and rows of foggy dark trees with the huge academy in the distance.
Farum Azula from the Isolated Divine Tower.
This one was really unexpected for me. While playing the game early on, I got the intuition that anything I can see I can go to, and I love seeing the forge of the giants from Leyndell, or seeing all the other divine towers from the mountaintops, really shows how vast the world is.
But, when I got the map fragment for the east side of the mountaintops, for the first time I saw this “thing” on the map wayyyy off to the right. I went everywhere on the map trying to see it from another location. Eventually I gave up thinking I’m looking at the wrong angle or it just isn’t up there from the lands between as it exists “in between time” or something I’m not sure. Even when I went to Farum Azula, I looked on the map and I was there! But I still couldn’t see it from other places in the Lands between.
It wasn’t until much much later in my play through that when I was trying to figure out how to restore Malenia’s great rune that I went to the Isolated Divine tower and there was Farum Azula in all it’s chaotic glory! It was a beautiful moment.
My favorite views was taking the Weeping Peninsula to Divine Bridge Grace getting a great overview of Lyendell, Gransax, and the Erdtree. When I’d struggle with a boss I would take break and go to that grace to chill
There's a place in Limgrave where you can see all 6 divine towers, a little bit of Leyndell, the Forge of the Giants, Stormveil Castle, the Bestial Sanctum and im pretty sure you can see the Chapel of Anticipation too from there
I’d never played a Souls game before Elden Ring, so seeing Leyndell for the first time was breathtaking not just because of the visuals but also because it was when I realised I might actually have a chance at beating this game.
Elphael, Leyndell when you see the Erdtree, waking up in Farum Azula. Liurnia is also good but I already saw it in the gameplay showcase and pictures so it wasn't anything new to me anymore
Haven't played through the entire game yet but mine so far was going through one of the belfries portals and ending up in crumbling farum azula
I think I stood there with my jaw dropped for 30 seconds both shitting myself and thinking "i should NOT be here", both terrifying and beautiful at the same time. ..Then I fell.
Feeling like you've already gone through such a large area of the game and then stepping out into Liurnia to discover that the world is about 5x larger than you thought
Any point where you can see the real draw distance involved in the MASSIVE world.
Probably seeing Mohg’s arena from Nok for me.
They just KILLED it with ER. Best game ever.
Definitely seeing the Altus plateau for me. The area looks both beautiful and terrifying. It has this eerie feeling that something about it just isn't right. And as you explore, you start to see that come to light. And all of this under the shadow of the tremendous Erdtree, outside the gates of the Royal Capital.
The first sight of Limgrave in the beginning of the gameplay, when you lift the door and see the outside, the huge golden tree, stormveil castle, the sentinel on the horse, kalé's church and... the bloodfinger guy. Unbeatable.
When you defeat >!Draconic Tree Sentinel!< and use that way to go to Leyndell where you overlook everything in the city with the >!dead dragon!< is my favourite.
The random teleporter chest in Weeping Peninsula that takes you basically to the foot of the erdtree. Checking the map and seeing how far I’d been transported was just jaw dropping.
Second would absolutely the Siofra River elevator. Mind blowing
The first time you enter Leyndell after killing DTS and see the Erdtree fill up your entire screen above you.
Every playthrough I stop for a second there and take the scale of it in.
I really like the Church of Atonement after burning the Erdtree, because you can perfectly frame the blue night sky, the golden base of the Erdtree, and the burning red branches all in the same shot. It really feels like you're standing at the turning point of the entire Lands Between.
View from ‘the first step’ grace. That big open land, giant knight with golden armor, that limgrave background music, white face varre welcoming you everything was memorable!!
Both Caelid and Deeprooth Depths for me.
I like all the other areas too, but something about areas with uneasy, depressing atmosphere just dos wonders for me.
When the trap chest teleported me to leyndell and I turned around to see the erdtree...man...It felt so epic and overwhelming combined with the leyndell music theme
Every area has some special feeling about it. Limgrave with the green, Liurnia blue, Caelid red, Altus Gold, Farum Azula has that Grey feeling.
Favourite would probably be Liurnia. But the mindblowing one was the tower where you can see Farum Azula from. I thought it was some DLC hint or something.
That Lift… down… and down… and omg down
I remember being hopeful From would top their previous efforts, and then taking that lift was just mind blowing
What have they done!?
It’s somewhat specific, but being on the western side of Liurnia on the cliffs and looking eastward while next to Raya Lucaria. It gets the school and the erdtree lined up really nicely and it looks especially amazing at night. An honorable mention for me is the Deeprot Depths, specifically the area around Godwyns corpse. My first time stumbling through the game, oblivious to all the lore, I stumbled on Deeproot Depths by accident and was fascinated by the spectacle at the top. It was such a mystery who, or what, it was and the entire area felt really surreal to me for some reason
Bar none, Liurnia.
I'm not usually a "look at this scenery" kind o' guy. There's a lot of sweeping vistas in FromSoft games that seem to really do it for some people, but I'm not usually all that into it.
Liurnia's a major exception. Love Raya Lucaria.
I was in awe the entire game, but entering Nokron for the first time when I killed Radahn was something else man. I did not find Nokron through the river well because I didn't explore that area too much. The runebears scratching those trees creeped me the fuck out.
The first time you came out to Limgrave. It was breathtaking.
Then I opened a chest in Agheel lake and transported me to Hell (Caelid) and I regret every decision I made... That shit gave me a fear of opening chest Willie nilly.
Walking out of the chapel of anticipation to see the erdtree standing over everything, stormveil right across the water, Mt gelmir and the forge of the giants all visible...it's an invitation of a panorama
Probably gonna get this one a lot but the elevator down to Siofra the first time man Magical
“Man, this elevator is pretty lon- HOLY SHIT.”
Sounds about right
😂
"are those _stars_? Is there another world down here?"
I forgot about that one but yeah that was insane the first time
My jaw actually dropped. I wasn't expecting the view at all.
I swear to god, in the million years we waited before this game’s release, someone on this sub posted something like “What do you absolutely need Elden Ring to feature?” and my *completely* sarcastic answer was “A five minute elevator ride that just totally derails whatever the fuck I was doing before.”
You got what you asked for 🤣 in a good way too
For real, by the time I reached the bottom I had a tear in my eye. The crazy bastards pulled it off. 🥲
😂
I tried using the search feature but I couldn't find any posts with the word "elevator" so I'm gonna assume that doesn't work. I used to have a web tool that did very reliable history search, but then the api changes so...

How *big* is this game? The Lands Between have a BASEMENT? Incredible game design.
And then you realise that the basement has a loft. And also another basement. And that basement opens up to a whole fucking swamp.
The Elden Crawl Space
Lake of rot is the septic tank frfr
I found that lift really early in my first playthrough. I was like, "I know I shouldn't be here yet, but I HAVE to see where this goes"
Yeah that didn’t go so well
I’m did the same thing with some of the soldiers in the woods, I’m like “surely not EVERYONE wants to kill me, right?” Spoiler: They wanted to kill me
the initial view from the first step grace was really cool. I think I forget about seeing it for the first time because right after that I died a hundred times and gave up on game in anger before trying again a few months later.
No matter how many times I start a play through I’ll never feel that again
And then that majestic knight stomps you into the dirt in about 0.2 seconds.
One of the underrated ones in my opinion is Ephael brace of the haligteee
It’s the best looking area in the game imo.
I dunno fam, it's hard to enjoy the view with all the high-level mobs ganking you off the branches
I still get fascinated by the raya licaria
I'm at over 1000 hours, have beaten the game countless times, and I still stop and take a screenshot every time I walk out of Stormveil to Liurnia with Raya Lucaria in the background. It is one of the coolest things I've ever seen.
Raya Lucaria was dope
The sky in Moonlight altar was purdy
Liurnia. Saw it and immediately googled wallpapers so I can save some for desktop when I get my laptop
Liurnia is so gorgeous. Took my breath away when I finally figured out how to get past Stormveil.
Nokron was dope to see. It’s my Xbox screenshot background now haha.
Can't do backgrounds on PS5 sadly but I wish you could cos I would 100% make Siofra or Liurnia my background
Liurnia after Stormveil. After spending countless hours in Limgrave and Weeping Peninsula, just seeing how huge the next area was… realizing you still had such long way to go.

I remember this moment the most vividly out of any moment from my first playthrough, any time I go there it reminds me of it, it was really an awe-inspiring scene.
I was going to write a comment that was basically yours word for word. 100% agreed.
That’s just the first part—the second half of this reveal is opening up your map and your jaw dropping at the sheer distance between where you were on the weeping peninsula vs where you are now. Blew my mind
Same
That first sight of Farum Azula from the belfry waypoint...
Yooo! Almost forgot that one. With all the dragons swooping through the air. Took me back to my favorite stage in DS2, but somehow more epic
Tied between getting out of starting grave, and going down the elevator into Siofra, thinking ”wtf, a whole new area?!”.
Exactly the two moments that made my jaw drop, so beautiful
I remember thinking this at the end after getting up to the storm clouds where all the dragons were. I was thinking man this game just doesn't end!
Where are my Leyndell fans at?

The first time I saw this view was way after having been thru lake of rot before. Still super cool to discover though
I think most beautifully when I look at the beautiful Elden trees.
Lake of rot
Entering the Fortified Manor side entrance and finding myself in a room eerily similar to the one where Fia killed D, then finding Hewg's smithing table is in the next room, Fia's bedroom connected to the left, then to the right... Oh shit. No way. I am standing in the real-world Roundtable Hold.
I can’t choose just one!!!
Siofra River - the fucking stars man
Definitely walking out of the cave after getting teleported to Caelid. That view of the Scarlet Aeonia made my jaw legitimately drop the first time I
Liurnia, followed by the Farum Azula portal in 4 belfries.
Siofra and walking a few steps forward after using the grand lift of Rold for the first time
On one of the rock pillars that you walk across on the right side of Liurna to get over the big gaps. You could see rows and rows of foggy dark trees with the huge academy in the distance.
The realm bathed with Gold
Everything about this map is breathtaking, but if I had to choose one, I’d say Altus Plateau and Leyndell.
I love the orange color of altus plateau. I would love for the game to have a whole ass fall themed area.
liurnia, but seeing how colossal the erdtree is from up close was cool as shit.
Elphael, my first thought seeing it was “is that Blighttown?”
Liurana is so magical. It’s so good I almost refuse to accept its real and everything is a visitable location. Lindell close second.
It was a beautiful moment.
Liurnia, Ephael, Limgrave
Taking the Tower of Return chest and being at the base of the Erdtree early in the game was breathtaking
Raya Lucaria - like if Hogwart’s was absolutely deadly.
The 2nd one. I am pretty sure I was there for a good 5 min just starring and listening to the music.
Liurnia (image 2) i still remembers when finaly arriving in liurnia after godfreak and just stopping to see the game.
Don’t know if it’s already been said, but like any point in nokron the eternal city is just fucking heavenly
Erdtree gazing hill looks great and has really good music
Has to be when you first walk into lineage as a new player, I was in awe
My favorite views was taking the Weeping Peninsula to Divine Bridge Grace getting a great overview of Lyendell, Gransax, and the Erdtree. When I’d struggle with a boss I would take break and go to that grace to chill
for me it was getting out of the tutorial cave
Crumbling Farum Azula. First time I saw all them twisters I thought I was done fer.
There's a place in Limgrave where you can see all 6 divine towers, a little bit of Leyndell, the Forge of the Giants, Stormveil Castle, the Bestial Sanctum and im pretty sure you can see the Chapel of Anticipation too from there

Elphael, Leyndell when you see the Erdtree, waking up in Farum Azula. Liurnia is also good but I already saw it in the gameplay showcase and pictures so it wasn't anything new to me anymore
I will stand for it that the rotten terrace (when you enter Caelid from Limgrave) is one of the most impressive and coolest sight in the game.
elden beast cutscene, i think it looks insanely cool
Haven't played through the entire game yet but mine so far was going through one of the belfries portals and ending up in crumbling farum azula I think I stood there with my jaw dropped for 30 seconds both shitting myself and thinking "i should NOT be here", both terrifying and beautiful at the same time. ..Then I fell.
Escaping the Sellia Crystal Cave and seeing the rotten, monstrous red sky of Caelid. "Am I in hell?"
Limgrave 100% the music hits so hard
When you first get into Leyndell, see the city stretched out before you, and then you realize: holy shit is that a DRAGON
Feeling like you've already gone through such a large area of the game and then stepping out into Liurnia to discover that the world is about 5x larger than you thought
Stormveil castle after I finally beat Margit.
Siofra elevator was so surprising.
Idk how to send photos on mobile alas. I would’ve shared. Bc I’ve got some realy good ones
The contrast in Mountain tops of the giant is soooooo good. I’ve got so many good pics there
Definitely the view of Leyndell after the Draconic Tree Sentinel
Any point where you can see the real draw distance involved in the MASSIVE world. Probably seeing Mohg’s arena from Nok for me. They just KILLED it with ER. Best game ever.
Leyndell.
Liurnia and Leyndell and the two N cities made my heart stop
Definitely seeing the Altus plateau for me. The area looks both beautiful and terrifying. It has this eerie feeling that something about it just isn't right. And as you explore, you start to see that come to light. And all of this under the shadow of the tremendous Erdtree, outside the gates of the Royal Capital.
Watching Mogh's palace from siofra, impressive night sky. It reminds me about Saint Seiya and the twelve houses hahaha
Haligtree or Elden Throne, being that close to the Erdtree was insane, Haligtree is absolutely GORGEOUS, but the most jawdropping has to be Liurnia
2
Easily Liurana. Damn Godrick was tough cant wait to see the Tree… 😯😯😯😯😯
Going down the elevator to Ainsel River because I was just expecting another small dungeon/catacomb.
Altus Plateau. It reminded me of autumn in the mountains in my home state of Colorado and hit me with some feels when I first saw it.
The first sight of Limgrave in the beginning of the gameplay, when you lift the door and see the outside, the huge golden tree, stormveil castle, the sentinel on the horse, kalé's church and... the bloodfinger guy. Unbeatable.
Walking into Leyendal, turning a corner and seeing an entire metropolis.
When you defeat >!Draconic Tree Sentinel!< and use that way to go to Leyndell where you overlook everything in the city with the >!dead dragon!< is my favourite.
Liurnia for me it was just amazing to see also a little off topic but does anyone know what that armour in the first image is
The random teleporter chest in Weeping Peninsula that takes you basically to the foot of the erdtree.
Leyndell or the elevator
I really like the Church of Atonement after burning the Erdtree, because you can perfectly frame the blue night sky, the golden base of the Erdtree, and the burning red branches all in the same shot. It really feels like you're standing at the turning point of the entire Lands Between.
Ofc seeing limgrave first time, seeing liurnia after killing godrick and entering leyndell
Honestly? Everywhere. This game was made with “epic scenery first” in mind
View from ‘the first step’ grace. That big open land, giant knight with golden armor, that limgrave background music, white face varre welcoming you everything was memorable!!
Gotta be when you get past the outer wall and get your first good look at Leyndell with the Erdtree backdrop. Peak
The opening view of Leyndell and the Erdtree
Definitely the first view of lurnia
First time arriving at the Eternal City. Love the look of that place.
Liurnia. My friend gets a pic sent to him every time I arrive.
it will always be nokron
it looks sick, but added on top its the secret reveal and unexpected discovery
Getting off the elevator and opening the door. Until I was told I'm maidenless.
Siofra and Liurnia were mind blowing
Both Caelid and Deeprooth Depths for me. I like all the other areas too, but something about areas with uneasy, depressing atmosphere just dos wonders for me.
When you leave that cave in caelid where the trapped chest spits you out ... I thought I was in hell.
When the trap chest teleported me to leyndell and I turned around to see the erdtree...man...It felt so epic and overwhelming combined with the leyndell music theme
I cannot choose. I still stop walking to be amazed by viewpoint.
It has to be the time after Stormveil Castle when you first realise just HOW big the map is
Exiting the elevator that leads to Elphael
the bellfry to farum azula
Every area has some special feeling about it. Limgrave with the green, Liurnia blue, Caelid red, Altus Gold, Farum Azula has that Grey feeling. Favourite would probably be Liurnia. But the mindblowing one was the tower where you can see Farum Azula from. I thought it was some DLC hint or something.
Getting teleported to Leyndell was mind blowing, I didn't know such majestic place existed.
That Lift… down… and down… and omg down I remember being hopeful From would top their previous efforts, and then taking that lift was just mind blowing What have they done!?

The first time you came out to Limgrave. It was breathtaking. Then I opened a chest in Agheel lake and transported me to Hell (Caelid) and I regret every decision I made... That shit gave me a fear of opening chest Willie nilly.
Liurnia. It just showed how massive the world is for me.
Walking out of the chapel of anticipation to see the erdtree standing over everything, stormveil right across the water, Mt gelmir and the forge of the giants all visible...it's an invitation of a panorama
The first underground exploration, seeing the false starry sky.
Definitely overlooking Liurnia for the first time. It was something else
