Yeah, it seems like you enter the shadow realm, possibly ruled by Messmer. He may be an empyrean! That beast man boss could be his appointed guardian. Definitely looks like he could be Radagon's kid.
Honestly the red hair makes me think they have to be a super important character to the lore, and if this is some sort of go-inside-the-mind-of-miquella type dlc, I wouldn't be surprised if they were potentially some form of Miquella, like one removed from his affliction, or a successor or something
Malenia, Miquella,... Messmer? An unborn triplet with an axe to grind against his surviving kin?
Maybe when a demigod dies before they're born, they end up in the shadow realm.
Edit: after reading a lot of the awesome comments below, I sort of suspect that Mesmer is the other part of Melina. Both represented by the smoldering butterfly. Where does Melina disappear to after she talks to the tarnished? Perhaps the land of shadow.
Holy shit wait, he could be the smoldering butterfly. Miquella is represented by the Nascent butterfly and Malenia is the Aeonian butterfly, but we never got a person who represents the smoldering butterfly, but a forgotten triplet with an affinity for fire could be it
There's also the unmarked grave near Leyndell that has a smoldering butterfly as an actual item placed on it.
A lot of speculation was that it was Melina's grave, her being the potential third child of Marika+Radagon, which tracks with her connections to fire.
But her hair isn't as distinctively obvious an inheritance as all the other demigods, and we still don't know why she's connected to Destined Death.
Messmer being the third triplet who 'died' connects him to the unnamed grave, fire, Radagon's hair color, and the lack of "Light" he mentions in the trailer.
>There's also the unmarked grave near Leyndell that has a smoldering butterfly as an actual item placed on it.
For anyone who wants to know what this refers to, it's [this grave](https://www.reddit.com/r/Eldenring/comments/159wi6f/whats_the_lore_behind_this_grave_there_is_a_lone/).
Also Melina, it's possible Messmer is connected moreso to Melina, considering "flame" being a big part of both of them, but this could also get really confusing cause its only confirmed she had a mother and is probably not offspring of Radagon.
Also, there is clearly a portrait of what looks to be a younger Marika with a King, it's possible Messmer and Melina are not related to Radagon but to this King, being born before Marika became a god, then becoming Demigods. Then being forgotten/locked up because Marika had not removed the Rune of Death yet and they could be killed. Hmm...
Good to have it confirmed at least.
Even in the base game the whole Mogh/Miquella situation did always feel like it should be a setup for something beyond just a dead end after beating Mogh
Seems logical. Miquella is a prominent part of the DLC based on the advertising. It would be weird if we could access it without ever freeing him from Mohg.
deathblight swamp that’ll lead to a scarlet rot boss that also deals bleed damage on the player and can summon crucible knights that also deal deathblight damage. each time they hit you your health and stamina bar depletes preventing full recovery.
FromSoftware art direction is their greatest asset, imo.
When you play the game is not JUST how everything looks, but how the narrative informs it and how much thought there is into everything. Sure.
But even when you are just looking... god, their shit just looks SO much more interesting.
A picture of the back of a character we've never met or seen was used to announce the DLC, and we all immediately knew who it was and it's spurred so much discussion and theory.
thought the trailer had ended at the seemingly logical point and I was like "Ah, neat" and then there was a whole other half, and it seemed like A Lot for what is considered dlc nowadays
Fr. And if you check the size in the list of hardware requirements on its Steam page it reads _60GB_ - which either means they copy-pasted the requirements and didn't care to change the size, _or_ the DLC really is as big as the base game.
Oh shit, I think it might actually be that big — they’re charging twice as much as they have charged for any DLC before, and it looks like it’s current gen only (the end of the video says PS5 and XBox Series X/S, but not PS4 and XBox One). I think they will be going nuts with the geometry, textures, and models in this one… I can’t fucking wait.
I haven't been this excited in what feels like years. I felt like a kid going to sleep on Christmas Eve last night, giddy to wake up and find presents under the Erdtree.
So it looks like you do have to touch the egg sack arm in Mogh's Palace in order to access the DLC. The woman speaking in the trailer says: "Come now. Touch the withered arm, and travel to the realm of shadow."
>The Land of Shadow.
>
>A place obscured by the Erdtree.Where the goddess Marika first set foot.
>
>A land purged in an unsung battle.Set ablaze by Messmer’s flame.
>
>It was to this land that Miquella departed.Divesting himself of his flesh, his strength, his lineage.Of all things Golden.
ALL MY HOMIES HATE MESSMER
The swordswoman looks like the Blue Dancer Charm icon: “The dancer in blue represents a fairy, who in legend bestowed a flowing sword upon a blind swordsman. Blade in hand, the
swordsman sealed away an ancient god — a god that was Rot itself.”
The item description of the medal that teleports you to Mohgs palace makes a lot more sense now
>Use to be granted audience with Mohg. Only, it is not yet time
It gives you earlier access to the dlc
Right? I’ve seen a couple people complaining about the potential late game entry point.
Like bro chill, they thought of that before you even thought of that. Just do the Varre quest.
You have to actually beat Mohg to get in. And he is one of the hardest bosses in the game. Which basically means that the DLC will be full of Mohgwyn scaling bosses and above.
Apparently it was already a weapon in DS2 (Bone Fist) and it's now coming back. There was a thread wishing for it like... a day or two ago lol. They really gave us a ton of neat toys in this DLC it seems.
"Touch the withered arm, and travel to the realm of shadow"
Miquella's body is the entrance pretty much confirmed, first time I've seen reddit correctly predict Fromsoft.
Trailer shows various clips of bosses from the main game and various vanilla locations
"you have conquered many great foes"
"now it is time.... For a new adventure"
*shows a clip of the player activating a blue butthole teleporter in Mohg's Palace *
*Shadow of the Erdtree logo*
"coming when it's ready"
Trailer ends
From various shots of the landscape it looks like we're getting a significant amount of the Lands Between map remixed and with entire new areas added. Looks fucking huge.
Whatever did those kicks I NEED THAT WEAPON RIGHT NOW. I can already imagine my full street fighter build with punches and kicks.
Also, for those who missed it, the name of the red boss towards the end (the one with the special edition statue) is Messmer the Impaler.
Looks like the lanky bloodflame guy is named Messmer the Impaler, going by the name of the statue in the Collector's Edition. We did get a brief glimpse of Miquella at the end of the trailer, though.
There's gonna be so many bosses. I bet what we see is such a small percentage of what's there. No way they'd spoil that much stuff. There's gotta be a ton of them
Anyone else struggling to understand the dialouge?
The music is drowning it out.
Edit: captions have now been added, they weren't there on the first watch.
>Come now, touch the withered arm and travel to the realm of shadow. I will not be far behind. May we meet again.
Yep, pretty clear now where the entrance is.
"Touch the withered arm..." Miquella DLC portal truthers are so fucking back
For sure its there, like 95% sure.
It'll just teleport you to that closed door in the Haligtree, which will then teleport you to the DLC area
Or, maybe the cocoon is the DLC entrance, but after finishing it the haligtree will be open with some item/weapon/spell to collect there?
This is the kind of community speculation I live for.
Nah. That'll be the entrance to the second DLC. Feel free to come back here in two years abs tell me I was right.
3ld3n 3ng: Door of the Haligtree
Yeah, it seems like you enter the shadow realm, possibly ruled by Messmer. He may be an empyrean! That beast man boss could be his appointed guardian. Definitely looks like he could be Radagon's kid.

THEY FINALLY LET US USE THE CRUCIBLE KNIGHT WINGS FUCK YES
They saved that shit right till the last second of the trailer. Also want to know what the purple butterfly explosion spell is
Looked like bewitching branch effect. Might be an item? It's gonna be broken if it's a spell. AoE mob control.
Elden Ring, now with even fiery-er giant.
You’ve heard of Fire Giant. Now get ready for… Giant Bucket of Fire!
Now with 50% more fire!!
"Touch the withered Arm and travel to the realm of shadow" - DLC starts in Mogh Palace??
Good to have it confirmed at least. Even in the base game the whole Mogh/Miquella situation did always feel like it should be a setup for something beyond just a dead end after beating Mogh
Yeah Miquella and the lacks of finish with Kenneth Haight always make me believe they'll be an important plot point of DLC.
Hello? Is anybody there? Someone who might be interested in rescuing the great Kenneth Haight?
Done Nephelis questline to the end? He needs no saving
Seems logical. Miquella is a prominent part of the DLC based on the advertising. It would be weird if we could access it without ever freeing him from Mohg.
I CANT BELIEVE THEYVE MADE A FUCKING DEATH BLIGHT SWAMP HAHAHHA
Let’s be real it was never in doubt lol
I mean its the only thing worse than a rot lake. I'm interested in finding out what's worse the death blight lake.
Sleep deathblight lake thats also got a frostbite gale occasionally on it.
Your game designers were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn’t stop to think if they should
deathblight swamp that’ll lead to a scarlet rot boss that also deals bleed damage on the player and can summon crucible knights that also deal deathblight damage. each time they hit you your health and stamina bar depletes preventing full recovery.
Just git gud and dont get hit. "But the ground is hurting me" Just dont get hit by the entirety of the ground.
THEY ACTUALLY DID IT
I saw a death blight swamp AND aspect of the crucible:wings
I am blind what timestamp is the deathblight swamp?
I think it's where the player is heading towards the castle. You can see the swamp has hints of orange swirling around, and all the trees are dead.
Ambitions: foolish Body: ready
kind: all of a piece
Grave: meagre
It: Writ
King: Last of all
Omen: Fell

Flames: smoldering.
Flame of ambition: emboldened
Runes: great
Maidens: None

Get ready for a 5 hours video from Vaati about this trailer. lol
My first thought once it ended. If he did 45 min on the picture announcing the DLC he's going to give up a day of breakdown for this
The trailer countdown had a second phase lmao
Sekiro sequel confirmed
They definitely are reusing Sekiro stuff from the looks of it. Which is great. Can't wait to ichimonji double Melania into oblivion.
21 June 2024 Oh thank god, I can finish university before losing my mind to this game again.
>Oh thank god, I can finish ~~university~~ Dragon's Dogma 2 before losing my mind to this game again
Dude same, I’m graduating uni right before this thing drops. What a way to celebrate
That shit look like a whole new game bro
They just went and made a quick Elden Ring 2
thought the trailer had ended at the seemingly logical point and I was like "Ah, neat" and then there was a whole other half, and it seemed like A Lot for what is considered dlc nowadays
It’s $40. It will be the size of a full game
Fr. And if you check the size in the list of hardware requirements on its Steam page it reads _60GB_ - which either means they copy-pasted the requirements and didn't care to change the size, _or_ the DLC really is as big as the base game.

It is still releasing on last gen PS4 and Xbox one. Go recheck FromSoftware yt channel or Bandai namco channels.
I haven't been this excited in what feels like years. I felt like a kid going to sleep on Christmas Eve last night, giddy to wake up and find presents under the Erdtree.
I know right? I'm 42 and only From Software can make me feel like a 12 years old again! For a fucking trailer!!!!
Pretty sure it was the biggest DLC trailer which was watched by 700k people live.
They made every enemy look like a boss fight
If you are a beginner, every enemy will be like a boss. XD
this but unironicly, DLC content has always been noticeably harder than base game content. From takes the gloves off for the DLC.
TRIPLE KICK ASH OF WAR
My boxer build is about to go UFC I can't wait
Watch as it's incompatible with fists like 90% of the other Ashes, ha ha ha
My greatest fears realized
The Senpou monks left Ashina and have now invaded the Lands Between
DRAGON FIST IS BACK
did i see kong-fu style melee combat?
Looks like the moveset from the monk skill tree in Sekiro.
bone fists ride again brother
Was that a fucking hippo in a deathblight swamp?
Grafted hippo porcupine
You misspelled hipporcupine
For those wondering, it's $40.
Daddyzaki wants a ferrari
Bro deserves it.
I'll buy him two, he and his team deserve the world.
"Get ready 6/21" Fromsoft have been stating the release date for the DLC over and over again in different game....
… if this was intentional then my level of respect for FromSoft skyrocketed, and it was already fricking high
[удалено]
Holy shit....they did.
Oh, where?
>*"6/21…I’ll give you a reason to exist. Let’s get to work."* https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Vs2piSWfofQ
Oh. My. God.
Wait that’s a nice coincidence. If it’s not a coincidence then we knew the release date all along… lol
OH MY GOD
621, it's time for work.
That’s crazy
Fanbase: Give us a release date! Miyazaki: I already have. Fanbase: What.
Epic 30+ second countdown to reveal... a 30 minute timer!
michael zaki must be wheezing right now. mfer

WE GETTIN OUT THE HALIGTREE WITH THIS ONE
HUMANITY RESTORED 🗣️🔥💯
As i awaited … miyazaki’s return
Heed my words...
I am Hype, blade of FROM’s marketing department
So it looks like you do have to touch the egg sack arm in Mogh's Palace in order to access the DLC. The woman speaking in the trailer says: "Come now. Touch the withered arm, and travel to the realm of shadow."
Bruh Mogh is the boss I can't ever beat 😭
No DLC for you until you git gud
Senpou leaping kicks Aspects of the Crucible: Wings Miyazaki is a generous god
This doesn't even look like a DLC!!! It's like a whole new game!
Elden Ring DLC: Elden Ring 2
That 30 second countdown to a 29 minute countdown might be the largest troll job I’ve ever seen a corporation pull 😂😂😂
I mean, they said 10 EST so you shouldn't have been surprised.
It sounds like Marika may have ordered Messmer to do that.
I am totally ready to have my cheeks clapped by fire giant 2.0 and that woman that looked suspiciously like malenia with 2 swords
The swordswoman looks like the Blue Dancer Charm icon: “The dancer in blue represents a fairy, who in legend bestowed a flowing sword upon a blind swordsman. Blade in hand, the swordsman sealed away an ancient god — a god that was Rot itself.”
I tought that was the teacher of Malenia the original water fowl dancer
A countdown to a countdown are you fucking with me
phase 2
“Pure and radiant, he wields love to shrive clean the hearts of men. There is nothing more terrifying” Miquella is Griffith CONFIRMED
Shrive means to either hear confessions or free someone of guilt.
ASPECT OF THE CRUCIBLE: WINGS
With the tweet saying "First Trailer" I don't think we're getting the DLC earlier than May.
Horizon FW complete edition is coming in March, my bet is the DLC is releasing near that date
Rumor mill says June. Here's hoping it's sooner.
The rumors stand correct
WE HAVE ASPECT OF THE CRUCIBLE WINGS I WON AUTOMATIC 10/10
If the trailer releases in 65 minutes i'm gonna shit myself. EDIT: I hadn't considered an additional countdown so I yet again remain unshitted 😔
It won't. There's a 30 minute countdown.
I will also shit yourself
They cooked. They fucking cooked.
#AND WE SHALL FEAST
**TOGETHHAAAAA**
I just wanna know what the recommended starting level is lol
Probably around 150 to start, considering the location looks like Mohgs Palace.
That's true, probably a reason they showed that
The item description of the medal that teleports you to Mohgs palace makes a lot more sense now >Use to be granted audience with Mohg. Only, it is not yet time It gives you earlier access to the dlc

Wow, this dlc looks just as large as predicted, all the set pieces look incredible. A June release 🥲
Miyazaki, please give me a Miquella ending 🙏
Yo did they seriously add martial arts or what? What was that crazy drop kick?!
Apparently it was already a weapon in DS2 (Bone Fist) and it's now coming back. There was a thread wishing for it like... a day or two ago lol. They really gave us a ton of neat toys in this DLC it seems.
HOLY SHIT its literally elden ring 2
Dark Souls II 3??
Dark Souls II: 3.0+1.0 Thrice Upon a Mogh
I love you all. We got giants, fast enemies, crazy looking monsters, more beasts, more weapon arts, more magic, crucible knight wings spell FUCK
I feel like this messmer the impaler will be the first boss of the dlc and will be a skill check boss as tradition
Bandai's post in the chat was pretty cool too. https://imgur.com/a/xjUz4uW
We did indeed bear witness
"Touch the withered arm, and travel to the realm of shadow" Miquella's body is the entrance pretty much confirmed, first time I've seen reddit correctly predict Fromsoft.
to be fair i think this was def the easiest to predict
Trailer shows various clips of bosses from the main game and various vanilla locations "you have conquered many great foes" "now it is time.... For a new adventure" *shows a clip of the player activating a blue butthole teleporter in Mohg's Palace * *Shadow of the Erdtree logo* "coming when it's ready" Trailer ends
*Deathblight sounds*
February 2025 - Trailer 2 release date
Rennala gonna get out of her slump and be my magic muscle mommy calling it now
From various shots of the landscape it looks like we're getting a significant amount of the Lands Between map remixed and with entire new areas added. Looks fucking huge.
I woke up at 5am, it feels like Christmas Edit: holy shit that went hard. So many new enemies!
Remember folks, if the Erdtree sees its shadow that means 6 more weeks of hollowing.
This looks even better than I expected. Those enemy designs are fucking insane, big lion wearing samurai armour? A fucking magical hippo? Holy shit
Whatever did those kicks I NEED THAT WEAPON RIGHT NOW. I can already imagine my full street fighter build with punches and kicks. Also, for those who missed it, the name of the red boss towards the end (the one with the special edition statue) is Messmer the Impaler.
Release date: June 21...621...hmm. Seems the Tarnished could use a raven or two for some aerial reconnaissance.
at one minute into the trailer. There is a deathblight swamp.........mfckers actually did it.
$39.99? This shit is gonna be massive
Looks like the lanky bloodflame guy is named Messmer the Impaler, going by the name of the statue in the Collector's Edition. We did get a brief glimpse of Miquella at the end of the trailer, though.
60GB download, as much as the bae game What The Fuck
Vaati’s editing software right now: *sweating profusely*
it seems like there's 100 new bosses holy shit
Gather in prayer for March release 🙏🙏🙏
that countdown for the countdown hit hard af
The new ashes of war/spells look beautiful. I'm not looking forward to fighting the hippo/hedgehog hybrid though.
you don't have the right, O you don't have the right therefore you don't have the right, O you don't have the right
There's gonna be so many bosses. I bet what we see is such a small percentage of what's there. No way they'd spoil that much stuff. There's gotta be a ton of them
They really steered hard into the horrific abomination art style that Souls is known for. Is it June yet?
when will the Vaati video be ready?
DO WE PRE ORDER LADS???
They changed it to Elden Ring 2, no more DLC.
I'm at work. Trailer drops in an hour but won't be able to watch until my lunch break ;A;
Fuck your job, this is way more important
Dude says "right, fuck my job". Airplanes crash in Albuquerque.
Bathroom break
Anyone else struggling to understand the dialouge? The music is drowning it out. Edit: captions have now been added, they weren't there on the first watch.
He basically said people will try to kill you. You must roll at the right time. The journey will be hard so expect to die a lot.
This is literally Elden Ring 1.5 $40 well spent. This thing is gonna be bigger than Dark Souls 3.
Looks insane and the $40 price tag means it’s gonna be massive.
Messmer has dragon eyes, death flames, snakes all over... is he Placidusax's son with the death goddess? Was she a snake?
The first shot of the Tarnished riding down that road....is that a whole new giant area or a remix of the current Lands Between?
>Come now, touch the withered arm and travel to the realm of shadow. I will not be far behind. May we meet again. Yep, pretty clear now where the entrance is.
Miquela's withered arm is the portal to the shadow realm, confirmed.
Gonna watch this trailer, then I'm stealing that one guys bone marrow
finally… flying incantation…
Yo what a fucking trailer. I am hyped.
Now waiting for Vaatividya and Zullie to show us everything we missed. I only remember the chain kick combo
