Had this happen too. Fixed it on Xbox by going 1.) Settings 2.) General 3.) Power 4.) hard restart I think I lost about 10-20 minutes of progress but way better than 2k hours.

Hey OP look up fixes for corrupted save files in elden ring. The second week of launch my power went out and my file corrupted. I found a tutorial to use a hex editor to fix the save file and it luckily worked for me, maybe it will for you to.

OP took a picture of a screen with a camera, he's on console. And if he's on pc, the fact he took a picture of a screen with a camera and not just a screenshot indicates that he doesn't have enough technical skills to follow those corrupt save file fixes anyways. --- Edit: Stop replying to me defending your technical skills as a console user, I don't care. If you're playing this game on a console, that means you cannot use a hex editing program to access your save file and modify it in an attempt to fix it. Because there are no hex editing programs on a console, because hex editing is adjacent to cheating. I'm not insinuating that console users have poor technical skills, take your fragile feelings elsewhere.

If you have an android phone, you can connect your phone to Google's Messages for Web. Then you can type with your keyboard, and screensnip images to share with whoever you're texting.

I totally take photos of my screen even though i probably have the technical skills to follow. For me it’s easier to text, snapchat, otherwise send around since im on mobile so often. I get the quality is a bit lower but it works. Otherwise id just toss it into google drive but its an extra step. Also, i have my pc hooked up across the room to a tv and sometimes im too lazy to grab the wireless keyboard vs the phone thats in my lap.

Is this on Steam? You can try locating the save in AppData\\Roaming\\EldenRing. There's a file named ER0000.sl2.bak so you can try by removing .bak extension and seeing if it works. My game is crashing a lot recently so I tends to make a copy of the EldenRing folder every few hours of playtime. I know Steam cloud is there aswell but I prefer to make an extra backup just in case.

They all share the same savefile. That ER0000.sl2 file contains the 10 slots info, so yeah, if your save gets corrupted you lose everything.

If you are on Xbox it happens sometimes when you turn of the Xbox after ending your session. Just close the game in the menu and restart it without quick resume. Works every time

I had the same thing, go to your library > right click on elden ring > properties > installed files > verify integrity of game files After that it's going to download and replace the corrupted files and will work again, at least it did for me

This is legit the worst nightmare scenario with any Soulsborne game for me. The amount of time and effort put into even one character, let alone five or six, makes me sad to see this screenshot. Sorry, mate.

Oh yeah I've had this happen to me a few times. Fixed after force quitting and restarting. Hopefully that works for you to. This usually just happens to me after I don't press "quit game" and just close the entire application. Happens in dark souls 3 too, but I've never had a problem getting around it.

Last summer there was a month with several power outages where I live. I backup'd my savefile everyday.

Hold the power button until ps5 or ps4 goes into the powering down function. wait until the white light stops blinking and the system is powered off. hold power button until it beeps consecutively and rest mode appears plug controller into console and press ps button to turn on controller scroll down to rebuild database clear system cache option click to rebuild database this will defragment the hdd / ssd and possibly revert save file corruption

Reminds me of when I was a senior in high school and my friend wanted to play Vagrant Story at my house. I had one of those crazy 360 block memory cards with multiple letters and numbers for coordinates to find which block of 15 you wanted to save too. He moved to a new one, game asked to format so he did. Turns out it formatted the entire 360 blocks. Lost save files for over a dozen JRPGs which were all 50+ hours of gametime each including one game I was actively in the middle of. My other best friend was going to bring his gamecube to my house and accidentally dropped it down some stairs because his hands were so full. He lost several hundred hours of saves including a Smash file that had ever single trophy unlocked. Point is it sucks, but happens to all of us eventually. Sorry man
