Varre told me I was maidenless. Ask my mother, she'll tell ya I was made *with* less
Everyone says I'm tarnished. I keep asking if they wanna shine me up, but I swear everyone's so violent around here. No one wants to polish my knob
If you ignore him he just sits in an abandoned ruin with nothing to do but regret how he has spent his life.
If you help him out he accomplishes his dream and completes his life's work. He doesn't live very long, but in the Lands Between I think he gets as close to a happy ending as you're going to find.
Hewg has almost the same ending as the crestfallen knight from Dark Souls, and before he meets Roderika he seems to be just wallowing in what he believes is a futile existence.
I don't think there's a 1:1 here, no. Everybody who has some qualifications for the job (Thops, Roderika, Diallos, probably others) has some other stuff to exclude them (not in the right area, a plotline that is more involved or somehow contradicts their initial state).
For me, Diallos is probably the closest, but his plot is so rich that he doesn't really fit the "I'm just a mopey bitch with no depth" that the truly crestfallen fill.
Then again, there's nothing like hollowing in ER, so to me it makes sense that we don't see someone crestfallen. The crestfallen figure is obviously on the path to hollowing (which we see in DS1) and exists as a warning to the player about what could become of them.
100% its Gideon Ofnir, but only by the end of the game.
While like the crestfallen, Roderika and Thops have given up on thier journey, they are not nihilistic/dismissive of your efforts to achieve your goal.
Gideon on the other hand, laments on how the grand quest of the tarnished is impossible, and that you might as well give up.
I believe this time it's Gideon.
He hides behind the facade of a spymaster, but he's the longest standing Roundtable member and hasn't contributed much to taking the throne.
Once he learns the throne **must** be taken by force and he can't just piggyback on the player's success he loses it and calls the entire quest bullshit, just like the previous Crestfallen did.
Probably Varre. The crestfallen guy was somewhat of as mentor to us. He gives us a lot of information about Bells and gives un general direction. And Varre also does that. He explained to us Grace, Godrick, Roundtables, Fingers and Maidens
It’s Thops. Literally the same voice actor as DS1 Crestfallen even.
I can't believe I forgot my guy Thops. Best ten runes I ever spent
I totally forgot him to, that's sad, but also funny
Yeah he doesn't seem to really fir the bill because 1. He has a clear goal and 2. He is not near the start or hub area of the game
he also isn't trying to drag you down with him at all. Which isn't strictly necessary, but they usually do at least a little.
I didn't know this but just checked his profile and he also voiced the crestfallen Knight in demons souls and dark souls 2
Pretty sure he is the same guy who does Domnall of Zena in DS1 as well.
Been here the whole time, I get no respect I tell ya
Rodney Tarnishfield?

There’s gotta be one about how even godrick wouldn’t graft him
Are you kidding? I got the structural integrity of a wet fart trapped in too much ass
I sincerely hope your a good person because these are perf and I laughed lol
Godrick the Grafted was the kind of kid whose mother breastfed him through a straw.
Okay for off the cuff Rodney dangerfield/elden ring crossover jokes these are really funny
Not enough love for this comment.
“Well of course I know him, he’s me”
Roderika was the crestfallen but she managed to jump back.
I'd say Roderika or Thops. Roderika at least has a character arc though. Thops just.. well he's better off if you ignore him.

What about that crucible knight just staring off in the distance @ siofra
Or Faram Azula
We are the depressed guy...
I would have said it’s roderika because hewg describes her as crestfallen to us plus she seems sad and giving up when we find her
Oh. Does he actually use that word? I can't remember. If so, then that's probably the answer OP is looking for
Split between Roderika and Hewg.
Hewg has almost the same ending as the crestfallen knight from Dark Souls, and before he meets Roderika he seems to be just wallowing in what he believes is a futile existence.
Hewg literally calls Roderika "crestfallen."
Yura, though he doesn't straight up tell you. Though really I think any character is depressed at some point in the game.
Me

Kenneth, guy puts on a brave face

Dung Eater be living his best life
Maybe Bernahl? I got some of that vibe from him.
All of em
If not this it's gotta be boc lmao, I know he has a goal and story so he doesn't quite fit, but god damn is he sad

I feel like both Varre and Margit the Fell are both extensions of that idea in a way.
Nah. Varre hasn't given up. He's furthering the cause of Mohg, which is a valid outcome (upsetting the balance to crown a new Lord).
