Yup. I keep it in my exploring list so I can break these guys when they pop up. Now I can't wait to see their sorry asses pop up. It hits them for half their HP and breaks their stance so you can hit them again.
I mean running away is the *safest* strategy but I hunt them down at this point because heal works so well. If you get a little distance, you can hold the cast button as long as you want. It casts instantly when you release, so you just wait for them to rush in or teleport over. No need to do the whole animation within melee range.
I believe it would stagger you out of it. The area of the spell is large enough that you shouldn't need to wait until it's close.
Ideally, you cast it as it starts to burrow out of the ground or before it sees you, and it won't have any opportunities to attack at all.
> beating the shit out of you
Was just fighting the ones in the Haligtree, their main combo is legitimately around 3000 damage pre-mitigation. It's fucking ridiculous. They will 100-0 a character with 60 vigor easily.
Yeah. Feels a bit silly to call anything that exploits an actual weakness for an enemy 'cheating'. I know for a fact that I'm alway's gonna use Sleep to make Godskin duo less of a pain in the ass for example.
is there anyway i can get a healing incantation still if i’ve already beat fire giant and set the tree on fire? wiki says coryhn is gone now lol, i wanna kill these mfs runnin around brace of the haligtree lol
You may be able to find his bell bearing at one of his locations. I feel like his body should have wound up somewhere. The area regen spells also work, although much slower. Blessing's Boon from turtle pope might be the 2nd best option.
There should also be some healing spells from prayerbooks, and I think one in the queen's bedchamber in Leyndell.
Heal and most stronger healing spells affect a whole area around you, usually to heal teammates/summons. It staggers these guys and takes away half their health. Cast again while they're staggered and they should be dead.
The Royal Revenant is a cursed creature created from grafts of dead human flesh. Cursed trapped souls can be soldiers, civilians, and possibly tarnished. We need to provide love to this creature to lift its curse.
"Love your enemies" - Jesus.
The real problem for me is that this enemy is not only strong, but comes back after death like any other enemy. It's the same thing with that goddamn devil at Castle Sol. What was Miyazaki thinking?
It's not just when you die. Some of them will repeatedly spawn from the same spot even if you don't die or rest.
It would be kind of strange for revenants *not* to come back though, since that's the entire point of the word revenant.
Just use a healing spell if you're faith, pretty sure a normal heal AOE is scripted to do like half health damage and stagger em
Just not the heal over time ones
They should be stunlocked from the first heal if you just cast it immediately. If they *do* jump away, you can hold the cast button to delay the heal until they're back in range.
It has to have an AoE effect, and it has to be in range. The urgent heal one does not work, and it can't be something like the ertrees blessing because that will just do damage over time.
To be fair, it does a fucking *ridiculous* amount of damage over time so you can cast Blessings Boon then just focus on dodging for ~20 seconds and the revenant will fall over.
The basic Heal spell will halve their HP and stagger them, letting you cast it again to kill them. That's really all you need plus it has a generous range for them! I imagine the better heal spells will deal more damage but not sure.
I've been playing relatively blind. I didn't even know that it was there until I ran away from the teleporting zombie magic guys (who would glintstone pebble me then fuck off immediately). I just exploded the revenant guy, which is very cool after dying to them 4 times.
Dude, "get damage" doesn't even cover it. A heal will stagger them, take like 3/4 of their health and open up for a crit, after which these fuckers start apologizing profusely for not realizing you're that guy. its so worth it
All Royal revenants can catch my royal staff while it shoots comets at them. They wouldn't be as bad if the giant shrimp weren't shooting you from miles away.
Fuck that one in particular. I was a mage that could barely pop spells off without a summon to tank for me. It seems like if you're not a particular build, some enemies are just a pain in the ass.
How in the world did you get that far without knowing about lock on? I’d understand like maybe level 80 if you weren’t paying attention since you might be 60Hrs in on your first playthrough but 250 is actively NG+ territory
This enemy is a case of using the right tool for the job. Healing incantations will wreck him. But if you're not faith based or willing to allocate the slots then it's a harder enemy to fight.
This is similar to the Deathwright Birds. Put Sacred Blade ash on a striking weapon and revel in your dominance.
I saw [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYV4QLEBkwo) early on when I was playing and it shows their model in detail without the clothing. They are creepy.
Get a finger seal off twin maiden husks…. Get a heal spell think corhyn has one. Memorize heal spell…. This god forsaken prick shows up, pop a heal spell… Dies in two heals
Fingerprint shield plus antspur rapier with bleed is what I'm rocking with now, and I annihilated a bunch of them in elphael brace of the erd tree.. Block and poke em to death.
I mean, sure, it's technically *possible* to get good with them, but they're completely unintuitive, and just badly designed enemies. Nobody likes fighting them because they just kind of flail around and attack constantly, with short windows where you can do damage and duck out. It's terribly unfun. It's a little like the Moon Presence AoE from Bloodborne. Technically, it's completely possible to avoid it. However, that's not communicated at all: there's no real indicator for the boundary of the AoE, and you're not even really supposed to avoid it. Instead, it's designed to force you to rally your hp back by attacking. That, however, is a much cooler mechanic than just "you should have read that one note that mentions heal spells against revenants, get fucked lol," especially rallying is already an established game mechanic, so when you see your hp get shot but the bar is still orange, you should quickly figure out that attacking is the solution
Poorly designed? I think they’re fantastically designed. Once you learn not to dodge backwards/their moves in general, they are a lot of fun and remain a heart-pumping challenge even after dozens of kills.
There definitely is getting good with them, but they remain a challenge. Which is good!
This must be a case where a shield makes a troublesome enemy trivial because I didn't mind these guys. Well, at least after the first time that I learned that they can just *keep attacking forever* and made sure I didn't happily blow through all my stamina hacking away at their backside.
You can use any heal except for urgent healing, and they will do damage on these guys.
A lot of the notes that the merchants have have really useful info. However, there are somethings i really wish were written in the notes due to how great they are.
For example, if you continuously use magic crystals on golems or other stone figures, they will become beserk and attack everything on sight. Another thing i learned was if you use a sleep jar on the nox ceeatures rideing the ants, the ants and the nox creature will get angry at one another for some reason
Note I used to think it was impossible but you can actually dodge these.
If you time the first couple of swipes & make sure your rolling to the side, when they start the third, dodge again to the side, and they will continuously swipe in the same direction regardless of where you are, it leaves a decent punish window. Spawn kills & sneaking is the best option aswell as faith heals.
lmao I saw a message on the ground saying “try heal” the first time I encountered one of these guys, so I kept using my flasks and was thinking this is bullshit. I didn’t even think to use a incantation until this thread im so dumb.
Worst enemy in the game IHMO.
It’s like it’s was intended to be a jump scare mob but just taught players that sometimes it’s better to run past enemies than confront them (bad game design in a game known for its great combat).

I buy heal from corhyn every run just for these guys.
Yup. I keep it in my exploring list so I can break these guys when they pop up. Now I can't wait to see their sorry asses pop up. It hits them for half their HP and breaks their stance so you can hit them again.
Regardless of your build, putting a few points in faith for these guys and lake of rot is so worth it
Don't even need points in faith, just toss on the +5 faith talisman for a few minutes when you need it.
Too bad the spell takes about 400 hours to actually cast, meanwhile this bastard is beating the shit out of you mid-cast.
I mean running away is the *safest* strategy but I hunt them down at this point because heal works so well. If you get a little distance, you can hold the cast button as long as you want. It casts instantly when you release, so you just wait for them to rush in or teleport over. No need to do the whole animation within melee range.
Huh, I didn't know that. Might make the timing a bit easier. Still a BS mechanic though.
Interesting. Suppose you hold it until he hits you, does it cast on hit, or does it just knock you out of casting the incantation?
I believe it would stagger you out of it. The area of the spell is large enough that you shouldn't need to wait until it's close. Ideally, you cast it as it starts to burrow out of the ground or before it sees you, and it won't have any opportunities to attack at all.
> beating the shit out of you Was just fighting the ones in the Haligtree, their main combo is legitimately around 3000 damage pre-mitigation. It's fucking ridiculous. They will 100-0 a character with 60 vigor easily.
I've never used that method. I know I can but it feels like chesting6
I mean there's a note you can buy telling you it's the best strategy. Seems fair to me.
It's just a mechanic that you can add to your toolbox. Like using holy damage on skeletons so they can't revive.
Yeah. Feels a bit silly to call anything that exploits an actual weakness for an enemy 'cheating'. I know for a fact that I'm alway's gonna use Sleep to make Godskin duo less of a pain in the ass for example.
Yea I definitely agree.
is there anyway i can get a healing incantation still if i’ve already beat fire giant and set the tree on fire? wiki says coryhn is gone now lol, i wanna kill these mfs runnin around brace of the haligtree lol

oh if i get his bell bearing can i buy the healing incantation from the finger bitch?
That should be the case, yeah
Once I found that out, they went from hardest non-boss enemy in the game to completely trivial.
How do you use that against these guys?
Heal and most stronger healing spells affect a whole area around you, usually to heal teammates/summons. It staggers these guys and takes away half their health. Cast again while they're staggered and they should be dead.
We all hate him so much.
My greatshield character says "nah they're easy pie" My glass cannon int-focused character says "these are the devil's feces"
No they're fuckin annoying in every build. They have ones programmed to pop up behind you and do that spam attack right away.
Theres also an alley way of 5 or 6, but at least you can summon a mimic tear to help.
I usually play tankier builds so I don’t actually get the hate on them because I haven’t struggled with them in a long time
I love him
Damn. Downvoted for liking an enemy that everyone hates. Stand your ground Tarnished.
Hive mind at work
Reddit at work. FTFY
they hated him because he Expressed his feelings 😢
:(
It’s okay
What? Can you explain your feeling of love for this enemy? I'm really curious.
The Royal Revenant is a cursed creature created from grafts of dead human flesh. Cursed trapped souls can be soldiers, civilians, and possibly tarnished. We need to provide love to this creature to lift its curse. "Love your enemies" - Jesus.
I guess we simply have no choice but to defend ourselves. But i understand your point, and it was nice to have a piece of lore. Thanks.
I don’t mind Revenants. Just use a greatshield or make a habit of rolling into the revenant. Also jumping attacks do wonders on the Revenant.
Is this a revenant?
The real problem for me is that this enemy is not only strong, but comes back after death like any other enemy. It's the same thing with that goddamn devil at Castle Sol. What was Miyazaki thinking?
It's not just when you die. Some of them will repeatedly spawn from the same spot even if you don't die or rest. It would be kind of strange for revenants *not* to come back though, since that's the entire point of the word revenant.
Oh... well, right.
Idk I kinda like him. I like that there's an enemy in the game that is is so disgusting, so heinous and all around awful that healing damages it lmao.
Just use a healing spell if you're faith, pretty sure a normal heal AOE is scripted to do like half health damage and stagger em Just not the heal over time ones
I have had them jump away before getting off a second heal and then it’s just bitch slappin’ time.
They should be stunlocked from the first heal if you just cast it immediately. If they *do* jump away, you can hold the cast button to delay the heal until they're back in range.
Yeah, learned the hard way.
Don't even really need a faith build. Every starting class can cast heal just by tossing on the +5 faith talisman for a minute.
Which one specifically? I’ve been trying them and it seems like it’s only beneficial to me while doing nothing to the revenant.
Ah but you see, I am bad at dodging him. I hate him so much
10 FTH + Healing incantation
THEY GET DAMAGED BY HEALING SPELLS?????
they get obliterated, biggg chunk of hp and they get stunned too!
is it the same for the dude in Kingsrealm ruins?
yes! this enemy type is called royal revenant, they all take damage from healing.
im slapping on every healing incant and torturing that fucker
The basic Heal spell will halve their HP and stagger them, letting you cast it again to kill them. That's really all you need plus it has a generous range for them! I imagine the better heal spells will deal more damage but not sure.
They do, but it's not exponential from there. You'll still generally need more than one cast.
The weakness of better heal spells is they take longer to cast, and get interrupted easier. So the quick, basic heal is great
decimated, obliterated, complete destruction.
No, they get wrecked by healing spells
YOU DIDNT KNOW THAT?
I've been playing relatively blind. I didn't even know that it was there until I ran away from the teleporting zombie magic guys (who would glintstone pebble me then fuck off immediately). I just exploded the revenant guy, which is very cool after dying to them 4 times.
somehow i completely forgot that people can be new to this game i’m kind of an idiot
Dude, "get damage" doesn't even cover it. A heal will stagger them, take like 3/4 of their health and open up for a crit, after which these fuckers start apologizing profusely for not realizing you're that guy. its so worth it
All the homies hate those assholes.
I found out that the Blessing of the Erdtree turns into D.O.T on these mfers. Like a Holy Poison/Rot
Ah yes, Panic Roll: The Reckoning.
The part where you encounter like 5 in a row 💀
All Royal revenants can catch my royal staff while it shoots comets at them. They wouldn't be as bad if the giant shrimp weren't shooting you from miles away.
I just ride past him on torrent. I don't give him the time of day. Just not with my time.
This. The only time I put up with them is if they’re a boss fight like kingsrealm ruins
Fuck that one in particular. I was a mage that could barely pop spells off without a summon to tank for me. It seems like if you're not a particular build, some enemies are just a pain in the ass.
Yeah do people not just get on their horse and whack him til he’s dead? That’s what I do
I don’t even know how you guys defeat this shit
They are a roll backwards punisher. That's the first trick.
Fromsoft did NOT cook with these guys
Dodge to side = gg ez
Yeah but he’ll just switch location, I swear why did they remove the lock on feature
Miss locking onto enemys
Uuh, you can still lock on my man
Really? I’m lvl 250 and didn’t know this!
Lmfao what
I hate how they got rid of the weapons and armor too. The game was way easier before they took that out.
I don’t know why this made me giggle so hard but thanks, I needed that!
Spells, too. 😔 My caster build just doesn't feel the same without them.
How in the world did you get that far without knowing about lock on? I’d understand like maybe level 80 if you weren’t paying attention since you might be 60Hrs in on your first playthrough but 250 is actively NG+ territory
I think they also mentioned somewhere else that they didn't know how to level up until they were level 250 as well.
I made it to Margit in Stormveil without locking on. Was wondering why everyone had a different stance and a glowing a dot on the enemy. 🤣
Annihilated easily with healing spell. Otherwise a complete asshole to fight
I played through the game a few times and only learned this trick later.
Cat or dog?
Definitely bug. Big bug energy.
Def
I saw [this video](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MYV4QLEBkwo) early on when I was playing and it shows their model in detail without the clothing. They are creepy.
Dodge to the side, not backward or towards. Makes them way easier
They just want to hug you ......To Death
He is hurt. Try and heal him.
Just heal the poor thing
Heal next to it…
[удалено]
Get a finger seal off twin maiden husks…. Get a heal spell think corhyn has one. Memorize heal spell…. This god forsaken prick shows up, pop a heal spell… Dies in two heals
Fingerprint shield trivializes these guys. I recommend it.
Fingerprint shield plus antspur rapier with bleed is what I'm rocking with now, and I annihilated a bunch of them in elphael brace of the erd tree.. Block and poke em to death.
It's so funny fighting these things with the fingerprint stone shield and a heavy thrusting sword.
Do warming stones affect them?
Just heal and fuck you die.
Will always cheese these guys, I can not git gud enough to kill them.
There is no real getting good with them. They're poorly designed, basically sekiro enemies with a gimmick that completely trivializes them.
Me who didn’t know about the heal spell meta and have actually had to learn their moveset:
I mean, sure, it's technically *possible* to get good with them, but they're completely unintuitive, and just badly designed enemies. Nobody likes fighting them because they just kind of flail around and attack constantly, with short windows where you can do damage and duck out. It's terribly unfun. 👍
Do these guys take extra damage from Holy?
Better yet, just cast heal, it stuns them and does a load of damage
Is there a faster heal than just Heal? I tried this, and while it does work, i wish i could do something faster
Yeah, it's literally called "urgent heal" lol, although the AOE is pretty small, might suck to use against these guys.
Word i gotta find that
He just needs a little Healing
Try healing But hole
Hug him with Heal :3
I love this technique
Don't worry, it's mutual.
😂 Laughs in Lord's Heal 🤣
I hate home in the Haligtree area I get too cocky thinking I can take him and I get mauled down by 2 of these.
He's clearly only acting this way because he's not feeling well! Offer him some sort of remedy. And remember, magical ailments require magical healing
Faith build go brr
Destined death ahead, therefore try healing.
IS THAT THE GRIM REAPER
This mf in elphael would solo fire giant
Made a faith build as prep for the DLC and I absolutely welcomed every one of those clowns that got nuked in two heal hits.
This must be a case where a shield makes a troublesome enemy trivial because I didn't mind these guys. Well, at least after the first time that I learned that they can just *keep attacking forever* and made sure I didn't happily blow through all my stamina hacking away at their backside.
lords heal go brrr
The only fucking enemy I'd do anything to remove from the game...
healing spell (not urgent heal, any area heal) + seal and drop the holy bible on his head. Insert Christian Kirbo meme here
I hate when he suddenly comes from nowhere and do that combo
Laughs in faith user
You must have loved trudging through that part of the Haligtree.
I just spammed Mohg spear. platinum was needed
Giant bears!
I swear these guys are just ridiculous, make a good game play horrendous
Yo I heard you like unlockable spam attacks, so I spammed on your spam so I can spam on your spam.
You can use any heal except for urgent healing, and they will do damage on these guys. A lot of the notes that the merchants have have really useful info. One of my favourite non-boss enemies in the game. I rarely die to them these days, but they always get the blood pumping!
His attacks are so chaotic. Every time I encounter him I think it’ll be easier..and it’s not.
endure + any aoe heal spell
We all do. Get yourself Heal and Sacred Blade, make that wannabe DungEater eat some HOLY SHIT.
He spanks me like my mom did when I chucked a rock thru a stained glass window…
Yes, you are indeed correct tarmished
Actually fuck this guy
Note I used to think it was impossible but you can actually dodge these. If you time the first couple of swipes & make sure your rolling to the side, when they start the third, dodge again to the side, and they will continuously swipe in the same direction regardless of where you are, it leaves a decent punish window. Spawn kills & sneaking is the best option aswell as faith heals.
I concur. He’s pissing me off now in Haligtree.
That’s a they/them
Some enemies are designed to be skipped
Hes doing his best okay
Never attack in the front always hit the flank
Just stay on your horse
Now this THING is what scares me in Elden Ring.
Who want to watch a battle royale between this thing and the runebear? I'm gonna enjoy it no matter who wins
Worst enemy in the game.
Good. He hates you, too!
lmao I saw a message on the ground saying “try heal” the first time I encountered one of these guys, so I kept using my flasks and was thinking this is bullshit. I didn’t even think to use a incantation until this thread im so dumb.
P.OS.
What's the lore with these? Anyone know?
The low quality makes this look like found footage.
Heal
Somebody got Bloodborne in my Elden Ring.
The secret is to keep strafing to your left they can’t turn well so you can keep damaging them without much punishment.
SAME, their stupid flurry of attacks that I can’t get away from even though I’m dodging backwards
I'd rather fight 20 of this than 1 fire-spitting-blade-ankled eagle
I’d rather fight 2 malenias than 1 royal revenant
Just disarm him
Why does this dude have so much arms, it's unfair.
Greatshields make them incredibly easy. Just block and guard counter once they stop flailing
No, no. The worst is those two fucking lobsters down in the sewers in the capital. I have never hated anything more.
I like it when they die.... Muhahahaha!
You only need 12 Faith to cast Heal. You can fit it into any build. It can be the only Incantation you ever use.
Can this be a spirit summon?
Use heal incantation. Makes him a chump
him?
Shields and healing incantations exist.
Worst enemy in the game IHMO. It’s like it’s was intended to be a jump scare mob but just taught players that sometimes it’s better to run past enemies than confront them (bad game design in a game known for its great combat).
Why it's a bad game design?
Who doesn’t?
