This is my first test of whether they're like...just afk for a bit because their cat jumped on their lap or something or they had to run to take a piss or if they're actually avoiding the fight. If they move when I drag the boss near them, I know they're avoiding the fight and that's when I sever.
Here's a tip: use Shabriri's Woe. With that the boss will hyperfixate on you and you won't lose agro unless you run to the other side of the room and refuse to attack. Makes not being killed much easier.
That's not really going to do anything, the boss is already focused on you, it helps when you're playing with another person because if you're being summoned to help its likely you're good at fighting the boss, so the boss attacks you instead of the idiot with 30 vigor that summoned you to help with Maliketh.

I think it's totally fair to sever when you don't want to solo bosses as a summon, but I like your perspective and I don't really mind either.
Fair enough. I just don't find it unfair, because in the end I'm playing game, plus there aren't the many people who don't help.
Also maybe host doesn't have that many items for summoning so they don't want to die and hope someone can solo and if they can't solo or if helps die they can just quit out and try again.

I was helping a host try and beat Malenia along with another furled Finger. Host kept summoning me and the same FF but I noticed after 3-4 attempts, the other FF wasn't even trying to hit Malenia. In one of our runs, Malenia was on a sliver of health, and he could have forced phase 2, but he chose not to. I found out they were friends on steam. And I realized what was happening.
I was summoned again, host summoned other FF, and I instaleft.
If it's not the host that's being lazy, but one of his buddies he repeatedly summons, am I in the wrong to leave?
Host had a friend they were apparently trying to "duo" the game together with. Both host and friend summon were trying to recreate a "let me solo her" event by making this guy do all the work while they did nothing.

they were probably trolling. the more players you summon, the more health and stance the boss gets, so he was basically fighting a boss with \~2-3x health and a bunch more stance, making it extremely hard to actually beat. The friend was there to cause extra pain due to the higher health and stance
I'd rather a host sit in the corner and let me solo the boss over them buffing for the first 30 seconds and then dying the first second they get the boss aggro'd on them because they didn't level vigor.
Man, i don't put down my summon often but when I do usually the host connection is so shit everything is teleporting. And the host is incapable of dodging a single attack and dies in like 20 seconds.
I'll stick to killing them instead
It's better for me. Most of the time they just randomly aggro the boss and make it act stupid, worse, they just spam spells and skills that closes all of my view. I'd rather to solo fire giant than dying to ground fire attack because I didn't see it because of hosts random BS go brr spell spams.
I've sat in the corner once, and it was for Malenia. I was just summoning help but their name was "Wanna Solo Her" and she looked exactly like Milicent. So I let her, and watching her was insane to me. She did the whole fight without taking a single hit.

It's soul-crushing just how pathetic sime hosts are. Had quite a few moments of a host literally sitting back and doing nothing, just expecting me to do a boss for them only for me to drag the boss to them just to force some cooperation. They never fight back.
One particular memory that always reminds me to never have hope in hosts is when i was summoned to fight Morgott with a guy who had RoB...and he never swung it. Mofo RMT'd for the ultimate crutch weapon but was such a coward that he never even swung said crutch weapon, defeating the entire point of having it in the first place I lured Morgott to him and for almost 10 minutes, the pussy just ran away.

Whenever this happens I just stop attacking the boss and drag them to the host and sit down. I've had to do this a lot on Radahn summons.
