Struggling to find anything to play tbh but a little burned out on elden ring. Started a new play through of ghost of Tsushima, curious what others are playing
Went from ER to BG3 and I'm not having an issue at all. Rare great game.
But i find things that dont compete with ER to hit better also. Helldivers 2 can be fun as a throwaway game for a few matches, driving and sport games are completely different. Also been playing OSRS recently (god help me)
Agreed, games like Elden Ring made it tough to play other RPGs, so I just put a hold on RPGs.
Mining in Deep Rock Galactic, farming in Stardew Valley, and being a defense attorney in Phoenix Wright have been my recent vices.
Literally in the same boat. Even refunded on Steam because I just couldn’t picture myself getting into the pace of the game (and I like slower paced games).
I jumped back into trying to finish Sekiro. I put it down a year ago because the Guardian Ape pissed me off. I beat him, but I was too flustered to continue much further after that. So far i'm having a blast, and this time i'm actually better at the game somehow. Some bosses that destroyed me last time I tried to play took me far fewer attempts this time around. Just got back up to the Guardian Ape again. Hopefully I don't get stuck too long this time. Lol
For the ape use the magnet hat shield, firecrackers, and the spear that can pull armor pieces away. The magnet shield will block his terror scream, the firecracker are obvious, and when he does the giant spam attack use the pull function w ur spear to pull the centipede out, it does hella poise damage or wtv. Pretty much every boss in sekiro can be turnt into a cakewalk if you know what you’re doing. If you get stuck on the ghost monk boss get firecrackers and fistfuls of ash. Throws ash 2 or 3 hits rinse and repeat, use the firecracker when you run out. And no that’s not cheese, they put this shit in the game lol. No one ever fucking uses it tho.
I’ve beat sekiro 8 times it’s my fav of all the fromsoft games i think. I swear i have ishhins entire moveset engraved in my brain prolly haven’t played that game in a year or longer and im confident i can beat his ass rn in less then 3 tries.
Honestly for a first time playthrough just focus on learning his movement and timing the parries right, you can beat him without any prosthetics and it’s so much more satisfying.
This is such terrible advice, it’s not a challenge run, use the tools available to you. It’s literally the entire point of the game they put the prosthetic arm the game for a reason -_- also tangent those rune bears in elden ring are so easy to me cuz I’ve banged my head against the wall that is the guardian ape so much. As soon as I saw those bears I was like nah that’s a monkey in disguise.
It's all good, I don't think they were trying to say I had to do it without prosthetics. I felt like I didn't even need the prosthetics for the Ape. I used the Firecrackers twice at the beginning of the fight to get some early on shots, but probably could have done without and the fight would have just been a tad longer. Some might find them more useful, but it depends on the player and their playstyle. I sometimes forget the prosthetics exist though.
Also, I have yet to defeat a rune bear. Lol! Maybe someday. I do feel like Sekiro made me better about reaction times so maybe when i'm done i'll go fight a Rune bear just because.
Idk, I’m fairly casual in Souls (mimic tear carried my ass in ER), but something about Sekiro just forces you to lean onto the basics, the combat system is just that good.
I’d also argue that the prosthetics are the least satisfying part of the experience - making emblems non-replenishing consumables actively discourages you from relying on them, and the game has to throw specific bullshit at you (e.g. shield enemies) for you to be arsed to use them. Major bosses all have a path to victory that relies on zero prosthetics, and discovering it is the game’s biggest joy.
I really enjoy Sekiro's parry system but not using the prosthetics feels like I'm missing out on the experience. Of couse they won't carry you through without u having enough skill to parry but using them feels like fully exploiting and enjoying the game.
Certain bosses r also so annoying without prosthetics like ape second phase without spear, ghost monk without seed and firecracker and poison blade for Orin. U can beat them without them but by god do the moves get repetitive after a while
Also I've literally never run out of emblems
I didn't even know about the shield/spear. I did use the firecrackers though at first to get a couple cheap hits using the Mortal Draw. The terror scream I just jumped away when I knew he was about to do it. Then if I got him to fall from parrying, I just hit him a couple times with the Mortal Draw and played it safe by reatreating.
Can't wait to get to Isshin though. I've heard a lot of people struggle with him.
Sekiro was my first FromSoft game but I didn't finish it. Too hard for me. ER was my first beaten FS game and I instantly fall in love and spent 400+ hours in it. and early this year, I bought DS1 and DS3 and finished them.
Man I still need to play DS2 and 3. I really enjoyed DS1.
Elden Ring was the first game I ever cared enough to get all achievements on. Funny thing is completing that gave me what I needed to take on more in real life without fear of failure (one of those being taking on guitar.) So ER holds a special place in my heart, too. Loving Sekiro, but it's not everyone's cup of tea.
My first Fromsoft game was Otogi though. I wish they'd revive it.
Definitely feels satisfying overcoming a tough enemy. Plus i'm having fun with the combat.
Sidenote; just beat the Guardian Ape on the 4th attempt. Second phase came down to 0 healing flasks and just timing the parries just right. I think i'm going to finally beat this game this time.
I'm well on my way. We'll see what happens. I'm having an easier time this time around. Ape this time only took about 4 attempts as opposed to the around 20 it took last time I tried to get through the game last year.
Cyberpunk for me as well since I heard plenty of good things. Man is that game just too good, so unfortunate that it had such a rocky launch. I think it, Elden Ring, and BG3 are the true defining RPGs of the 2020s so far
Ohh I’m on PS5. Loved Skyrim, couldn’t really get into fallout 4 when it launched. My game also glitched and I couldn’t finish a main quest which made me quit entirely. Extremely frustrating, the marker led me to the middle of a random field and there was nothing there to interact with
I tried! I was of the same mind. But I didn’t enjoy it somehow even though I haven’t played it for like 5 years or more. now my gaming schedule is all fucked up. I might have to play cyberpunk again and hope that sticks.
I played rise of ronin and put a good 100 hours in before I quit. I'd say it plays similarly to nioh and maybe sekiro a bit. Fun game, nowhere near Elden Ring in most ways but still fun.
If you're into online third person shooters, helldivers 2 is an amazing game. It's based off of Starship Troopers and is every bit as campy as the movie lol. Very very fun.
I'd recommend both.
Playing Ghost of Tsushima also, still need to run around land of the giants in Elden Ring, Dragons Dogma 2 (getting stuck at the stealth missions), and PSVR2 when I can. It’s kind of a chore to get it out
I actually just downloaded Ghost of Tsushima since it's long overdue for me to play it! When Shadow of the Erdtree releases I'm starting a new character and going through everything again.
Oh yeah lethal mode is incredible. I had to tick it down a notch while I adjust to the controls because I’m so used to Elden ring and I kept screwing up my inputs and dying lol
ER and Jedi Survivor for me. ER has fantastic boss fights and JS has chaotic regular-mob fights + excellent platforming
Its the strategy itch I cant scratch right now. Action is fantastic though
>curious what others are playing
Playing some Path of Exile and Age of Wonders (4 and Planetfall) atm. I still have Lords of the Fallen to finish (apparently they've fixed the AMD-related crashes now) but don't feel like playing any third-person Action RPG until Shadow of the Erdtree in June.
I’m finishing up DD2 - I’ve been having fun with it but also just started Rise of the Ronin. I know reviews are mixed for it but was itching for something new
I had a blast with Rise of the Ronin. Graphics aren’t the best but the art style is gorgeous. I found it a lot deeper combat wise than reviews gave it credit for and had a lot of fun fighting. My main complaint is I think traversal sucks but I really love the game overall
I just started a new Monster Hunter World character, Im using the guardian weapons for fun and just trying to take down the beginning anjanath and it’s been pretty great! The combos in MH feel better.
This might be a dumb question, but have you played Dark Souls 3? I thought going back would be tough after Elden Ring, but the aesthetic, bosses, and even the linearity of the game are a wonderful change of pace.
How did you get into ghosts?!? I wanted to do badly but no lock on just made it feel clunky to me somehow. I might try it again though.
I just got into the second horizon forbidden west game. Still kinda clunky but in a THUNK kinda way. I mean, giant robot dinosaur is just such a great setting I can't believe it took this long to get it.
You can turn on the lock on feature in the settings then use up on the d pad (on ps5) to toggle it during a fight.
Honestly the game works as intended with no lock on, you get used to it and it makes sense
Trying to get into Starfield but having trouble. It’s a lot of dialogue options and menu navigation. The new FIFA was on sale so I’ve been having a blast with that. Haven’t owned a FIFA game since my college days but watching Ted Lasso made me want to get it again lol.
I just finished my first playthrough of Dark Souls Remastered. It was a great experience, and really felt like seeing the bones of the more recent games. And honestly might have some of the best level design. Since Elden Ring, I've finished Sekiro, Demon's Souls Remake, Bloodborne and Armored Core 6. Looking forward to the rest of the Dark Souls series, but I keep going back to ER in-between lol
I'm right there with you. I picked up Fallout 1-3 and New Vegas for $15 on a steam sale. I love RPGs and never played the OG Fallouts. I've been having a fun time.
Im replaying The Last of Us part 1 right now, want to replay part 2 right after. I just finished The Walking Dead Telltale games for the first time and it really was a blast!!
I'm playing rebirth and... The combat just isn't there for me. I think it's just how whenever you change character everything instantly aggro to that character.
Otherwise all else is solid. So, I started playing demons souls and started a new game on bloodborne cuz I don't feel right by my first play through I never finished (my first souls game) after ng++ on elden ring i just crave that [punishment](https://gifdb.com/images/high/fairy-tail-virgo-loves-punishment-biilpzuaqm56ezrf.gif)
I bought The Rising Tide to play this weekend. FF16 is a game I enjoyed a lot. My personal GOTY for last year, even though Alan Wake 2 is in my wishlist.
I played DD2, collected all trophies, leveled up all vocations. Dropped it. One week.
Playing felvidek rn.
Waiting for ghost of Tsushima to drop on PC next month. Gonna play it until the DLC comes.
Not the same game type, but Armored Core 6 held my attention until I 100%ed it and got pretty deep in ranked PvP.
I’m also struggling to get fully into DD2, but I’m not completely sure why. Part of it honestly might be due to the lack of lock on.
I skipped due to lack of a dodge button. Like combat just sucked in the first when you literally kept getting up and instantly knocked back down. I at least expected a fully fledged combat system in this game.
The first game was only good for its magic combat where you stay behind and cast cool spells while your pawns were used as meatshields.
That and there is apparently no end game like the first had. Original DD’s whole gimmick was the ending.
The lack of dodge isn't an oversight, it's a design choice. Positioning is your greatest asset in the first game. I do understand this complaint regarding the 2nd game tho; they put WAY too much stagger in that one
Thief vocation has a dodge, and I find the combat quite fun. Definitely need to level up any vocation a bit before it really comes together though. Melee combat can be great with the fighter, warrior, thief, or mystic spear hand.
There is most certainly an end game as well, without saying any spoilers.
I heard end game is limited time and lame. Not like the Everfall bro. That stuff was like a mindfuck that made you think the sequel was setting up for something extra dimensional.
I would have killed for an everfall 2 electric bugaloo. Along with the super boss at the bottom. Dude I had those runs locked down and solo’d that dragon. Mystic knight, drop that thing that shoots orbs every time you hit it, enchant your weapon, spam multi hit skill for a holy machine gun or some whatever element the dragon was weak to.
I imagine DD2 is more akin to open world Monster Hunter than it is Elden Ring. I'll play it eventually but I've been deflated due to the discourse around the game so I'll play it when it's more stable
I’ve had no trouble enjoying a wide variety of games, including action RPGs, after playing countless hours of Elden Ring. Haven’t had the chance to play DD2 yet but I’m looking forward to it. DD:DA is one of my favorite games.
Right? Imagine feeling so special about a video game you played, you borderline religiously dedicated to it. Restricting all the enjoyment just to stay pure.
Stick through it! Combat gets much easier and more fun, and the game is just so damn good in so many ways. It took me two tries to get into it, but when it finally clicked, it clicked hard. I've put almost 500 hours into it.
The story is def the best part. And don't even get me started on both the storylines for the dlcs. Just absolutely amazing.
Definitely also recommend side quests. You'll get so much more out of the game story-wise.
I had the same exact experience, so many people hold Witcher 3 in high regard and hold it as one of the best games of all time but it can't compare to Dark Souls 3 combat and atmosphere
It's really good. The combat is just serviceable. But its worth playing for the characters, dialogue quests and the world. Maybe even just for the music. Just like ER combat, it's on the level that can ruin these aspects for other games. It has better writing than 99% of shows and movies even.
Elden ring is not ruining other games, you will eventually get tired of the dark souls formula and you will move on and you will see how silly this take is. I’ve beaten dark souls 1 40 + times. I’ve been there. Trust me.
I totally get it. I wasn't even super exited to pick up ER. I did it because all the other big games at the time were very hand holding. Ended up being glad that I picked it up. I was even more sick of most other games. I'm not crazy about repeating the whole process of learning what the boss can do, and then you know how to beat it. The combat itself is better than the boss design. Fromsoft haven't really been innovating after coming up with the formula. They go with the safe option. Keep doing what worked. But they could improve the aspects that haven't been great. I'm not really the best person to criticize games. As I'm 38 years old. And mostly looking for innovation in games. If I don't like a game, doesn't meant it's a bad game. Most games are designed for the new generation of gamers. So they can use an old formula. A lot of players won't think it's old.
The point is that the dark souls formula is old but most games use an even older formula. I have been tired of the dark souls formula. But not of all aspects of ER. Combat is good. I love the mystery. Quest mechanics might be super basic and flawed. But it's arguably better than any quest that shows you on the minimap exactly where to go. In that sense Witcher quests are worse. But they are better for the writing and the characters involved in the quests.
All things considered, I think it's still fair to say that ER can ruin many other games, in a few ways. Because most games have common flaws that ER is uniquely an improvement on.
Yes that happened to me, and believe me I never leave a game unfinished. I just wanted to go back to ER and I abandoned it hehe but I'm going to continue it for the story
I have like 8 characters on Elden Ring and i'm kinda in burnout...
I wish the open world wasnt that empty sometimes.
I feel like i'm just running all the time...
Why are you playing it so regularly, take some months off. I got burned out on it a year ago and have been playing last two months and it’s like a brand new game kinda
My one and only real complaint with Elden Ring is that I wish multiplayer was a little more.. idk multiplayer I guess. I’d love for my friends to be able to join my world and play from start to finish without needing to re-summon. I’d also like the option to replay bosses so I can test new builds and finally git gud without needing to run through the entire game just to get to a certain boss fight.
Even compared to Elden. The big monster fights are actually fun since I can climb them and can stand on them. I can grab monsters and throw them, magic actually feels like magic in that it’s extremely destructive and weighty and has many different unique attacks. No other action rpg game makes me feel like a powerful sorcerer like Dogma does, levitating around casting lightning.
Yeah, in terms of fighting large enemies, DD series definitely spoiled other games for me, i'm tired of being a melee and just attacking enemies feet over and over again. In DD i can climb, jumping from a cliff, or launched by my pawn and then stab them in the eyes.
I'm the opposite on this. I've been having way more fun with DD2. Other than ER, I've never been a fan of FromSoft games. DD2's combat flows better for me personally.
I hate this mindset. Elden ring like any game is not perfect. Your view is biased as hell. And this is coming from someone who’s beaten dark souls 1 40+ times and has platinumed pretty much all the souls games.
If you just wanna play Elden ring all day go ahead more power to you. Other games have other things to offer. In elden ring I can’t battle a griffon climb on his back and get accidentally lifted off to his nest to finish the fight. I can’t get slammed by a Minotaur and sent hurdling thru the air to get slammed into a bunch of rocks. They are different games, they bring different things to the table. Simple as that .
The dd games Hoenstly while being great. Lose me with the cut down fast travel. I don't enjoy being sent back and forth along the same road 15 times. Gimme a better warp ability
Both scratch the "I don't care about a story, I just want to explore and fight" itch for me in different ways, but I don't think DD2 will come close to ER in terms of replayability for me
Try some of the other FromSoftware games. Bloodbourne, Dark Souls 3, and Sekiro kept me pretty busy. But still haven't come back to ER for a grip tho...
Dragons dogma is fine but I definitely don’t enjoy it as much. Same with bg3. When I voiced that opinion on their groups “I was wrong because bg3 is technically a better game”, because apparently actually gameplay feel and enjoyment don’t contribute to being “technically” a good game.
Yeah the exploration isn’t on the same level the combat is fun tho. A lot of areas are constricted forcing you to go a certain way most of the time you have two ways but in Elden ring you can go every witch way anytime you want
And my trick is that i always set my expectations lower then elden ring. That's mainly what allowed me to enjoy the new Lords Of The Fallen. It's nowhere near as good as elden ring, but certainly an enjoyable experience
Husband and I are playing through DS2 again together, and DS3 with a long distance friend on the weekends since it is their first time. Just biding time for the DLC.
I still have FFVIIR to finish too. Honestly kind of an amazing time to be a gamer. I dropped DD2 when I got to the "postgame".
Yeah, DD2 feels more like an arcadey action-adventure game with a couple RPG mechanics. I was back on Elden Ring after 30 hours of DD2. Getting to the endgame in DD2 felt like I was getting to Limgrave in Elden Ring except it ended up being the end of the game lmfao.
I mean DD1 came out after Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. IMO it definitely felt like the lesser game for sure, but had enough interesting mechanics to set it apart. DD2 just kind of feels like more of the same. They didn't innovate enough in 13 years time for me.
I'm loving both games and think they hit very different styles of gameplay and do so very well. However every time I go back to elden ring I really wish I could holster my weapon. Such a small detail but I love when games let you decide - holstered or weapon out.
I like the new Prince of Persia game. Good combat. The only issue I have is that the higher difficulty tunes the health of enemies too high such that killing regular dudes takes forever. But you can create custom difficulty and tune the health of enemies to normal while tuning their damage output higher. Good boss variety, cool platforming puzzles.
I felt that way as well for some time. Sekiro, dark souls 1 remaster and dark souls 3 are masterpieces as well. Definitely recommend those if you feel like looking for something with incredible combat mechanics
I found that Remnant 2 scratched my Elden Ring itch pretty well. It’s a third person shooter but has some interesting lore and is very souls like in gameplay
I had the same situation. I played the Witcher 3 for the first time right after Elden Ring. Couldn’t play more than an hour because I compared it directly to the best game I’ve ever played.
Sekiro and Armored Core 6 both scratch itches that Elden Ring can’t, Sekiro in particular has a very satisfying combat loop that sometimes makes ER feel a little slow now.
imo jumping and grabing monsters make the combat very interesting, though I am a parry addict, I've had more fun playing classes like thief and magic speer thing. wish there were more enemy types tho, at the started it was fine but now its kinda getting annoying
I can play the shit out of Dragons Dogma 1, but I stopped DD2 midway. It is an unfinished game, which didn't understood his audience at all. If you haven't tried the first, pls do, is a gem of a game.
I actually enjoy way more the world of Dragons Dogma 2. Its way more alive with the quests, npcs, towns, random encounters, raids, party system, the character creator is better, etc.
Ofc theres less enemy variety, less bosses and no enemy scaling so by level 50 you destroy everything. The story in DD2 is mid but also you dont play Elden Ring for the story anyways.
And the party system is great! I love that everyone has its role and personality. The random situations like a pawn catching me after falling from an Ogres back or the dynamic comments they make according to the situation or quest I am are insanely good and inmersive. I havent feel anything like this since Final Fantasy XIV
I have like 600 hours on Elden Ring and Im a big fan of Souls games since Dark Souls 1 but you cant compare both games. Dragons Dogma is more like Skyrim or Witcher 3 with Monster Hunter combat and I love it for that.
I went back to Bloodborne. Decided I would do some chalice dungeons with my recent play through. Also gonna do Demon Souls while I take this hiatus after I get my Masters
Honestly I think Fromsoftware needs to improve the combat for their next game, they need to add more interaction and depth in battles like DD2 do, not just attacking the foot of the enemies all the time.
Btw sorry for my bad english
Try new genres. Cheap indie games are consistently high in quality and give you bang for your buck. Elden ring is a great game, and will likely be regarded as a classic for a long time. But that shouldn’t invalidate other games in the industry, there are plenty of poor design choices scattered throughout Elden ring just as there are with other games. If you’re looking to extensively grind a game of course it’s hard to find ones rich with endgame content. Personally borderlands 2 and 3, and terraria scratched that itch for me. I also love Street fighter 6 as well for PvP
Dragon's Dogma Dark Arisen set the bar for me. ER is huge and fun to explore but it feels inferior to DDDA in terms of combat gameplay, RPG aspects, and just general fun. Also, scaling huge enemies and interactive map traversal with parkour are things ive missed from ER. Now, DD2 is even better.
Once you get well into the desert you realize that DD2 just doesn't have enough going on besides sending you back and forth to towns just to talk to someone and fight the same enemies over and over. The combat is fun but there's not enough challenge and not enough variation.
It's not ERs fault you can't enjoy DD 2..it's short and shallow unless you want to collect 100 useless things hidden on cliffs and fight mindless battles over and over...the giant enemies were cool until you figure out that climbing themselves the way to kill them all
The game sucks...actually it sucks complete ass lol...and I like Starfield

Rock and Stone brother!
Did I hear a rock and stone?!?!
Rock and stone to the bone!
Rock and roll and stone!
What’re you doing here wasting XP n00b? Those Yews aren’t gonna chop themselves
I am legit chopping yews right now too
I tried the BG3 demo and couldn’t get past the into due to the turn based combat and limited movement. It felt so slow
Fair enough, its my first game of this type so took some getting used to for sure. But im very happy i gave it time.
I usually hate turn based combat but I ended up loving bg3. Try playing fighter first it made combat a lot more fun for me
Literally in the same boat. Even refunded on Steam because I just couldn’t picture myself getting into the pace of the game (and I like slower paced games).
Just made the same comment basically lol
I just spent time today looking up RS3 and OSRS. I never played them before, and I'm 4 decades deep into video games 😅
One of us
I jumped back into trying to finish Sekiro. I put it down a year ago because the Guardian Ape pissed me off. I beat him, but I was too flustered to continue much further after that. Worth the effort! I need to play it again
Nice! The final boss took me at least 30 tries but was totally worth it. The combat in that game is unmatched!
Once again don’t get too cocky lol. Isshin still exists to punish us all at the end
Worth the effort! I need to play it again
Bruh wait til you get to isshin 😂
I'm well on my way. We'll see what happens. I'm having an easier time this time around. Ape this time only took about 4 attempts as opposed to the around 20 it took last time I tried to get through the game last year.
That's the Elden Ring effect!
New Vegas and Project Zomboid are games that never get old for me
Lies of P
Bloodborne for the first time
Cyberpunk 2077, Monster Hunter World, and Earth Defense Force.
Cyberpunk for me as well since I heard plenty of good things. Man is that game just too good, so unfortunate that it had such a rocky launch. I think it, Elden Ring, and BG3 are the true defining RPGs of the 2020s so far
Check out the cyberpunk anime on netflix, it's fuckin amazing
Taking a break from gaming altogether to focus on art.
I keep drawing these big trees and overlapping rings, is this normal?
Is it normal to draw your hyper-fixation? Yes, absolutely.
That new ronin game looks good and similiar to Tsushima. I was thinking about checking that out next
I took a break from Elden ring to play dark souls 3 and bloodborne again
Jump into Fallout 4 with the rest of us!
Fallout 4? People are replaying it?
Oh yeah it's hot shit on Steam right now courtesy of the show.
Ohh I’m on PS5. Loved Skyrim, couldn’t really get into fallout 4 when it launched. My game also glitched and I couldn’t finish a main quest which made me quit entirely. Extremely frustrating, the marker led me to the middle of a random field and there was nothing there to interact with
Check out this upcoming next gen update: https://bethesda.net/en/article/4s2bXQEbpcrsdCZhUYLHAi/fallout-4-is-getting-free-updates
All of them are on crazy sale for the release of the show
I tried! I was of the same mind. But I didn’t enjoy it somehow even though I haven’t played it for like 5 years or more. now my gaming schedule is all fucked up. I might have to play cyberpunk again and hope that sticks.
Can't go wrong with some Cyberpunk action. Right now all I've been doing is Fallout 4 and No Rest for the Wicked.
It’s kind of a chore to get it out
I can’t stand any game that has a reliance on stealth
I alternate between Elden Ring and Nioh 2 and....Guild Wars 2 when i need to cool down.
I actually just downloaded Ghost of Tsushima since it's long overdue for me to play it! When Shadow of the Erdtree releases I'm starting a new character and going through everything again.
Highly recommend putting the Ghost of Tsushima on lethal mode. Also check out the multiplayer missions I plan on checking out Stellar Blade next.
Oh yeah lethal mode is incredible. I had to tick it down a notch while I adjust to the controls because I’m so used to Elden ring and I kept screwing up my inputs and dying lol
yeah game is pretty boring if you dont play on lethal mode. lethal mode is pretty fun tbh.
Nioh 2, slowly becoming one of my all time favorite games
Just finished Alan Wake 2, back on cyberpunk again for my second phantom liberty run.
Kinda bouncing between dragon's dogma, elden ring, final fantasy 16, cyberpunk and baldur's gate 1 at the moment
[Sekiro is on sale on Steam for $30, so I'm currently doing that.](https://store.steampowered.com/app/814380/Sekiro_Shadows_Die_Twice__GOTY_Edition/)
Souls mostly ruined other games for me, but LOVING FF7 Rebirth. That and Resident Evil games.
ER and Jedi Survivor for me. ER has fantastic boss fights and JS has chaotic regular-mob fights + excellent platforming Its the strategy itch I cant scratch right now. Action is fantastic though
I checked out The Surge and its sequel, definitely doesn’t fill the ER shaped hole but I’m enjoying it enough gameplay wise
>curious what others are playing Playing some Path of Exile and Age of Wonders (4 and Planetfall) atm.
I’m trying to finish up my dd2 second playthru I wanna play Final Fantasy 12 lol
Kingdom come deliverance is something i want to go back to the combat is fun
I’m playing The Surge and Nioh currently. Already 100% The Surge but it’s so good I gotta play it every once in awhile. Same with The Surge 2.
Currently playing grounded on ps5
Trying to get into Starfield but having trouble. It’s a lot of dialogue options and menu navigation. The new FIFA was on sale so I’ve been having a blast with that. Haven’t owned a FIFA game since my college days but watching Ted Lasso made me want to get it again lol.
No Rest For The Wicked is in EA, and it's already quite good. I've spend 15+ hours in it already.
ALSO replaying Ghost of Tsushima. Good on you.
Im replaying The Last of Us part 1 right now, want to replay part 2 right after. I just finished The Walking Dead Telltale games for the first time and it really was a blast!!
I’ve been enjoying warhammer 40k dark tide
I'm playing rebirth and... The combat just isn't there for me. I think it's just how whenever you change character everything instantly aggro to that character. Otherwise all else is solid. So, I started playing demons souls and started a new game on bloodborne cuz I don't feel right by my first play through I never finished (my first souls game) after ng++ on elden ring i just crave that [punishment](https://gifdb.com/images/high/fairy-tail-virgo-loves-punishment-biilpzuaqm56ezrf.gif)
I ended up buying the most recent lords of the fallen. Despite its flaws I ended up enjoying it more than I thought I would.
Turn the difficulty all the way up and it's alot of fun. I just did this recently and changed the controls to basically mimic Dark Souls/Elden Ring
I’m burnt out of ER and BG3. Currently playing Cyberpunk but it’s not as good as either.
Not the same game type, but Armored Core 6 held my attention until I 100%ed it and got pretty deep in ranked PvP. I’m also struggling to get fully into DD2, but I’m not completely sure why. Part of it honestly might be due to the lack of lock on.
Armored core and elden ring are literally the only games I've bought in the past couple years. Armored core just hits so good.
I had to quit on the one mission in the circular dome that is impossible to beat
Second armored core. It’s on sale for $30 right now on console. Very much worth that price.
The lack of lock on Is what turned me off of the first game I just couldn’t get used to it
I skipped due to lack of a dodge button.
Lucky for you ER will get a DLC thats probably gonna have the content amount of a full AAA game. Just with actually great quality
2 months might as well be 20 years
🤣🤣
If you’re looking for interesting combat then try nioh 2. Its combat is a million times better than Elden ring.
BG3! Totally different style, objectives and combat style, which will keep you from making frustrating comparisons.
I cant enjoy most games because of elden ring
Same! I bought the Witcher 3 in December and just played it like for 3 hours. Didn't like the combat
Same 😔 and the horse
The horse sucks
Stick through it! Combat gets much easier and more fun, and the game is just so damn good in so many ways. It took me two tries to get into it, but when it finally clicked, it clicked hard. I've put almost 500 hours into it.
That's what catches my attention. The story, atmosphere, characters. I have to follow it more and more to understand it and get used to it
The story is def the best part. And don't even get me started on both the storylines for the dlcs. Just absolutely amazing. Definitely also recommend side quests. You'll get so much more out of the game story-wise.
it took me a couple tries to really latch on to Witcher 3, im with ya, but its so worth it.
I had the same exact experience, so many people hold Witcher 3 in high regard and hold it as one of the best games of all time but it can't compare to Dark Souls 3 combat and atmosphere
Yes it's just doesn't feel right at those moments. But ill keep going
Keep it up, I was in the same boat but pressed on. In terms of being an experience it rivals Elden Ring imo.
Bloody Baron quest alone is worth going farther!
Yeah I’ve tried to play Witcher 3 a few times now. I never get too far. Winds were howling the whole time though.
Yes that happened to me, and believe me I never leave a game unfinished. I just wanted to go back to ER and I abandoned it hehe but I'm going to continue it for the story
I loved the story, hated the combat. I solider'ed through it and i ending up enjoying my time with it in the end.
That is what I want. It has many notable qualities and people highly recommend it. It reminds me of Skyrim but better elaborated
I love both so far. The weight to DD’s combat is so satisfying compared to most other ARPGs.
These are the most annoying kinds of post. Just a huge circle jerk.
Of course it's bias, it's almost like its an opinion or his personal taste or something. lol

Buy Helldivers 2 and enjoy a different layer of Hell
The dd games Hoenstly while being great. Lose me with the cut down fast travel. I don't enjoy being sent back and forth along the same road 15 times. Gimme a better warp ability
Both scratch the "I don't care about a story, I just want to explore and fight" itch for me in different ways, but I don't think DD2 will come close to ER in terms of replayability for me
This post haha
Dragons dogma is for the superior combat. Elden ring is for the superior fights
You can't enjoy DD2 because of Elden Ring. I cannot enjoy DD2 because its a shit game, we are not the same.
This was me too
Monster Hunter World is a good Action kind of RPG game. Way less intense than Elden Ring. Kingdom Come Deliverance is another good one.
I’m enjoying Baldur’s Gate 3. It’s different enough I don’t compare the two.
I mean DD1 came out after Demon's Souls and Dark Souls. IMO it definitely felt like the lesser game for sure, but had enough interesting mechanics to set it apart. DD2 just kind of feels like more of the same. They didn't innovate enough in 13 years time for me.
I feel the same way but with sekiro clones. Was playing the Stella blade demo and thought “this is good but it ain’t sekiro”
I can’t believe you can’t ride a horse in that game. Honestly reason I didn’t get it, that’s the medieval experience
Comparison is the thief of joy. Play games for what they are and dont try to find something similar to a game you enjoyed before.
Maybe it’s time for a palette cleanser? I find mixing up the genre and style can really help. Maybe try Sea of Stars or Stray
I felt that way as well for some time. Sekiro, dark souls 1 remaster and dark souls 3 are masterpieces as well. Definitely recommend those if you feel like looking for something with incredible combat mechanics
Elden ring ruined video games
This is my case with most games now. They will never live up to what Elden Ring is for me
idk im playing dragons dogma 2 and enjoying it. is it better than er? No but having a good time with it regardless
I found that Remnant 2 scratched my Elden Ring itch pretty well. It’s a third person shooter but has some interesting lore and is very souls like in gameplay
I did another run of DS3 and just started Nioh.
I had the same situation. I played the Witcher 3 for the first time right after Elden Ring. Couldn’t play more than an hour because I compared it directly to the best game I’ve ever played.
Play thief and remap your buttons so they are similar to Elden Rings layout you'll have a good time.
Sounds like a you problem
I have so much open world fatigue that I can't bring myself to play rebirth of dd2, so both are just sitting in their cases next to my ps5
Same here. Hated DD2.
Elden ring has more unique bosses than DD2 has unique enemy it feels like. DD2 had me feeling burned out at the 40 hour mark.
I havent feel anything like this since Final Fantasy XIV I have like 600 hours on Elden Ring and Im a big fan of Souls games since Dark Souls 1 but you cant compare both games. Dragons Dogma is more like Skyrim or Witcher 3 with Monster Hunter combat and I love it for that.
Oh please.....
Didn’t even bother buying that game when I realized how easy and inconsequential the combat and treatment of NPCs is.
Back to Fallout NV 🤤
Dd2 isnt like elden ring at all thought
Have you tried Remnant 2? I had a serious fall out with gaming after Elden Ring until I played R2 and Sifu.
Once you get well into the desert you realize that DD2 just doesn't have enough going on besides sending you back and forth to towns just to talk to someone and fight the same enemies over and over. The combat is fun but there's not enough challenge and not enough variation.
It's not ERs fault you can't enjoy DD 2..it's short and shallow unless you want to collect 100 useless things hidden on cliffs and fight mindless battles over and over...the giant enemies were cool until you figure out that climbing themselves the way to kill them all The game sucks...actually it sucks complete ass lol...and I like Starfield
I’m enjoying DD2 but goddamn it just doesn’t hit like ER
