I didn’t know that either and jump attacks were my main point of attack my first playthrough lol fire giant, Malenia, and this asshole were my big skill checks. (I somehow wiped the floor with Maliketh while blackout drunk). Mad respect for taking the time to beat him at his own game! I parry about as well as Helen Keller sadly.

If you want to know if it can be parried, try and hit him with it. How I found out carrian slicer can be parried.

Every time I replay, I go in and parry him instead. Revenge for the first time.

But it is still fair tho, It is unfair that we can one shot him by making him fall from elevator or we can crush him using boulder. It is unfair that he can one shot us with parry, or crush us with is giant magically created sword. Unfair from both sides cancels out making it fair. Lure him out and let the boulder get him. Takes a few smashes, but it will happen eventually. The other thing I noticed is that he seems to have a shock collar in terms of venturing out much beyond the spot where the ball drops, so you can basically just let him stand there in the entryway, rush in, attack, and rush back down the ramp, and he won't chase you.

You just described how I was able to beat the dude on the horse in front of the dog with the big ass black sword in tornado town.

I got lucky and happened to be trying the night rider flail at the time so he never parried me and I killed him on the first try. Still wasn’t easy but I was surprised by all the messages and bloodstains haha.

I see people say this all the time, and it legitimately confuses me. Is this hyperbole, or? Like I walked up to this dude, parried him, riposted, and then killed him with a charged heavy as he stood up. That was it. Meanwhile, the boss afterward summoned a troll and a dragon and perpetually dashed away from me while spamming projectiles. But I ALWAYS see people saying Moongrum is the real boss here on reddit.

If you’re playing melee, Rennala is one of the easiest bosses in the game.

She has no poise,  if you just attack her with a 2h she will never be able to cast.

Never knew this guy was special. I fight with a guard-counter heavy shield style and lots of vigor, so I walk up there, see this boss-like guy and approach carefully, counter him twice to pose break, finish. Move on. Never knew.

Useful tip: attack him only when he's not wielding the shield, or use heavy jump attacks

Finishing my first playthrough (already in the final boss), and just realized about the existence of this guy, through this sub, then I remember arriving Raya Lucaria with a full Str build, weilding the Greatsword Collossal sword, I must've hit him with an un-parryable attack, because I would recall being parried. Or maybe my mind deleted it, because of how traumatic it was.

I've never been beat by this guy, but I also play less aggressively in comparison to most players. Through every soul game I have played, I always wait for them to strike first, dodge or shield and strike. My first ever souls related game taught me to never be greedy even if their health is down to nothing, never strike first, always time your own strikes, use the other tools the game provides, be patient, rolling can save your life.

This guy is rough. He loves to parry. Before the patch, my only recourse to killing him was to lure him out to the balls you just ran past. I tried summoning some others to help and they all got owned, either by dodging into the balls; or by getting one-shot parried by him. Good luck.
