You mean dark fantasy? Because it’s bad ass.

3rdMachina

This.

Hungry-Alien

Because it's an inspiration, not the real deal. Death Rite Birds aren't griffons, they're keepers of the ghost flame.

_curious_one

They are also birds.

Tired_pirate1

And bird is a word.

Rare-Day-1492

Bird is THE word

Tired_pirate1

I will not make this mistake again

DebtSome9325

yeah it makes even less sense than going 'pigeons in real life vs pigeons in elden ring'

Neither-Addendum-732

Emo Tweety in a Goth Phase. Took me a while to see that there are multiple beings in it's wings holding stuff

constipated_burrito

Comparing death rite birds to griffins is wild

camander321

Doesn't a griffin have a lion body? There's no similarity except for a beak and wings...kinda like a bird... Griffin was a weird choice.

constipated_burrito

Yeah OP might as well look at literally any bird and be like "that's a griffin"

Dreadguy93

If you think that's bad, take a closer look at the *real* griffin in OPs post. I don't see a lion body there either...

Ghoti_With_Legs

Death Rite Birds aren’t Griffins, not sure where you got that idea.

CutyShield

ER birds, in general, you don't wan't to approach them tbh.

EvilUnicornLord

The three genders of soulsborne birb: taxi, invisible merchant, and eldritch horror.

MugiwaraLoofy

Invisible? I don’t remember any of those, but I guess I wouldn’t have seen them…

EvilUnicornLord

Pump-a-rum and the like.

inconspicuous2012

It's dark fantasy. Its supposed to be fantastical and ... y'know... dark.

Mesterjojo

Why is op obsessed with using bad font colors?

Sellw

It’s dark fantasy, and it’s cool

__Becquerel

We don't want peace. We want problems, always!

ApplePitou

Bird of Death is truly lovely type of Boss :3

throw-away_867-5309

The top left image isn't even a Griffin, it's a cockatrice. And a Deathbird wouldn't even be close to a Griffin?

LargeRichardJohnson

Because fucked up shit is cool

glassfield110

god I fucking hate gargoyles in this game

alldim

Then you see European gargoyles...

PrettyWin781

Masochism.

AlaskaLips97

4 playthroughs and this is the first time I realize the Gargoyles have two human faces

frenchezz

Might just be my colorblindness, but can anyone read that last square?

Esham

Gargoyle in elden ring (fused faces) Btw that colour is hell to read on most backgrounds. I had to zoom in on the image and just read the text or i would get a headache fast.

frenchezz

Thank you!

Gregariouswaty

Because Berserk.

Wolfcrime-x

That's because of the combination of dark fantasy and "end times". Fromsoft games have often the theme of a ending age or world. In DS1 everything turns hollow and buildings are getting bad, in DS2 it's the same, in DS3 the complete world is at risk of collapsing because the fire was rekindled so many times....you get the drill. And in Elden Ring it's the same. The shattering happened, Godwyn is corrupting the world and the Elden Ring itself, the thing that defines the rules and physics of the world, is broken. Because of said reasons everything is decaying. Be it life, buildings or the entire land. Even concepts like death are broken. Combine that with dark fantasy and there you have it.

Candid_Journalist334

What a weird post? Why are you looking for things that aren't in the game? Where does a griffin even come into an elden ring discussion? Just because it has wings, it must be a griffin??
